This troper refers to herself as a "shiny magnet", due to the many alternate color Pokemon she finds in comparison to her family members. Once, I restarted a game and found a brown Poochyena and a purple Wurmple withing 5 minutes of each other, less than 2 hours into the game if I remember right. Plus Ditto, Ponyta, Gastly, Bagon (egg), Kecleon, 2 Linoone's, etc. Now, I don't do it on purpose of course, and my bro gets rather pissed off every times he finds out I got a new shiny... Good thing he doesn't yet know of this blue-eyed Patrat I found the first day of having Pokemon White...

You're not the only troper to have found a shiny patrat in so early in Pokemon White. However, I have never before encountered any shiny Pokémon and my friend, who is a shiny collector, got really jealous that I found it so early in the game.

We're three. So far I got a shiny weedle (later a green beedrill), a pink nidorina, a pink mareep (and then an pinky-purple ampharos), and a yellow tauros in SS in about 2 months. And now I'm replaying platinum and got a white eevee (I involved into leafeon), and almost 24 hours later a green zubat.

This tropers friend encountered a shiny crobat while playing diamond, and sadly, killed it while trying to weaken it. poor guy. This troper hasnt gotten any legit shinies yet, and envies the OP.....

This troper is relatively indifferent about Pokemon, but she has two friends who have been planning the "most epic battle" against each other for over a month now. There is even a contract of rules, which they want me to sign as the legal witness. They have thought it through ''that much.''

Not too sure what to post here, but I'm 63 hours into [=HeartGold=] and leveling up for Red!

This troper recalls seeing a shiny Poochyena the first time he played Ruby. He was six years old. He knocked it out and didn't learn what it was until years later. He also knocked out a shiny Graveller in Pearl. He finally did manage to catch a shiny Tentacool in Heart Gold, however.

This Troper did the same thing in the original ''Silver'' Version. He had fished in the water next to the lighthouse in Olivine City and had reeled in a shiny Magikarp. He didn't know how hard it was to find them and simply knocked it out. This troper later ended up finding a shiny Onix inside of a cave (can't remember which cave, though), but ran away from it. A few years later, after he had learned how rare they are, he ended up finding and catching a shiny Rattata on Route 1 in ''Fire Red''.

My friend played (the first season's) song on an electric guitar at out college dorm's talent show. I should point out that my dorm is filled with nerds who played pokemon cards almost every day. And I'm one of them baby! HELL YEAH!

Unashamedly. I'm glad that most of the people in my high school still like (or at least don't mind) Pokemon. this troper has an action replay and can obtain ANY mon she wants, with any nature, any level, and any ability. So what does she do with it? Make themed teams, of course! My lead is a Dragon team (Aerodactyl, Charizard, Flygon, Salamence, Dragonite, and Garchomp), but so far she has a cutesy, beauty, Uber, ground, flying, kanto, water, psychic, normal, fire, dark, and poison team, all with great combos, counters, and the works, and puts them on her Battle revolution file, complete with themed trainer. I got a lot of time on my hands, huh?.... Yeah...

Isn't Arcanine the evolution of Growlithe? Both of which can't be found in the wild in SS. Or are you going to be trading one over? Otherwise, you can get Vulpix/Ninetales.

That is indeed the plan- trade an egg over early on (which is how I got Spiritomb and Chatot early on in Pearl, incidentally). As a result, I can raise it normally as "my own" on that file without worrying about boosted experience overleveling/disobedience.

Wow, your Diamond team is the exact same team as mine, only I used Alakazam instead of Luxray.

This troper once went through Sapphire with an all female team, and didn't realize he didn't have a single male pokemon until AFTER he beat the elite four.

To top that off, this troper went through the whole of Platinum without seeing a Tentacool once. I am not making this up.

This Troper has nicknamed his Emerald team "Team Sausage-fest," because he didn't pay attention to the genders of the pokemon he was catching. Naturally, Flannery's Torkoal Attracted his team to near-death.

I managed to catch a shiny in the '''Safari Zone''', of all places. Now that's luck. (A Phanpy, in Sapphire.) Also have a shiny Zubat on Pearl, which I'm considering naming Edward just because it's sparkly and a vampire bat.

This troper's current team in Platinum includes an Infernape (D'hzzn'ea, thought I was ''so'' clever), a Kricketune (Stacy, you can probably figure out the gender), a Staraptor (Skaker, don't know what I was smoking), an Espeon (Shade, Aimed for an Umbreon), a Quagsire (DESPAIR, yes, that's in all caps), and a slot for a random pokemon (Most frequent are Giratina (Stevers), Rotom ([=CHRisT=], See Skaker), Absol (Cassandra, guess why), and Lucario ('M, should have saved that for my Porygon)).

My current team in [=SoulSilver=] is a Typhlosion (Red, planing on naming Smugleaf Diamond for this reason), a Beedrill (Brooklyn, which is very fun to say), a red Gyarados (Shine, planing on changing this, still going to be my HM slave), a Dragonair (David, and yes, I know what this means, it was intentional), Raikou (Gramaphone, would have named him after my cat if a Meowth hadn't already been named after my cat), and Lugia (WIN, planing on naming my Ho-oh... well, you know), who will be replaced once David evolves.

Strangely enough, that's almost exactly the same team as mine, with different names, of course. Current team is: Typhlosion (Flare), Scyther (Claww, planned on trading to my sister's Heartgold and back, just need a metal coat), Red Gyarados (Crimson), Dratini (Wyvern), Raikou (Just named it decapitalized Raikou instead of RAIKOU), and Lugia (Same as Raikou).

This troper always strives for a team that (1) can hit any type super-effectively with three or more members, (2) can nail ten or more types with each member, (3) can hit every single Pokemon for neutral damage or better with each member, and (4) shares no type vulnerability between three or more members. If they can all nail their own weaknesses, so much the better. It requires a lot of organization, but type-matching like a demon is how I get away with skimping on LevelGrinding. Current and final Platinum team consists of Togekiss (Seraph), Gyarados (Jormungand), Lucario (super effective against 14 types, yeah! Oh, and nicknamed Bane), Azelf (Oberon), Blaziken (Surtur), and an extremely BadAss Weavile (Sub-Zero).

This troper has just managed to hatch a male baby Buizel. Said Buizel's name is now Liam and I'm now working hard to find an Everstone and am also wondering why little Liam didn't know [=SonicBoom=] when he hatched.

200+ hours of Pokemon Crystal, 23 time hall of famer, now beats Elite Four for the lulz. *eye twitches*

This troper, in the last year of college, during a presentation of History of Economic Thought, wrote, instead of ''School of Salamanca'', ''School of Salamence'' in a [=PowerPoint=] presentation. Luckily, this troper correct before.

This troper had a rather personal CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming when he had his Shiny Leafs turned into a crown. To see the 'award' of him and his Mewtwo "Giegue" was very rewarding given the time spent with it, earning its trust and training it to be the very best.

This troper is creeping along with her training for the Elite Four, getting as far as she can through Will/Koga/Bruno without ragequitting because she can't find any other trainers. Not quite sure how I'll handle Karen's Umbreon, since they've got crazy defense and health (I don't have any fighting types on my team, nor any fighting moves), but I'll figure it out somehow. My current lineup is Typhlosion (Dresden), Ampharos (Hei), Crobat (Thomas), Lapras (Champ), Alakazam (Mao), and Umbreon (Adrian).

She's also proud of the fact that she's acquired three natural shinies since the original Gold version- Kakuna (now lost), Ponyta, and Nidoran F (Yesterday, actually).

once named her entire team after tamora pierce characters... and realized that not only did the type 'match( Daja, a fire/ smith mage was a cyndaquil,rosethorn was a chickorita and so on) but the termperments matched as well! it was really epic.

This Troper is 40 hours into [=SoulSilver=] and is currently grinding at Mt. Silver after getting his ass handed to him by Red the first time he tried (he went in with Lv. 52-60 Mons, thinking type-matches would be all he needed).

If you believe it or not, this Troper did beat Red whith a team of lv. 60-61 Mons, 15 max revives, 20 hyper potions, weather abuse and an incredible amount of luck.

This troper is actually planning to make their first HG attempt at Red with a 3-man team. Level 1 Magikarp, level 80 Vaporeon (very possibly going to be replaced by a fast rock type if I can get one, it's only there to take out Charizard) and a level 70 Shedinja along with a considerable number of Ethers because this will be one hell of a war of attrition.

I guess I'm a bit racist against Grass-types. Or at least, against Grass-type starters. It's a prejudice going back to G1: Charmander learned Ember, Squirtle learned Bubble, but Bulbasaur learned Leech Seed, which didn't do direct damage. Yeah, not much use against Brock. And when the rest of my team was ComMons (does it look like I had a week to grind Caterpie up to Butterfree?), the starter having a useless move set was unforgivable. Then came Gen2, where Chikorita had unfortunate type disadvantages against five Gym Leaders (Morty counting due to his Pokémon being part Poison). Gen3, uh, kinda sucked, and by Gen4 I was set in my preference for Water over Grass when dealing with the Rock-type Gym Leader at the beginning. Speaking of which, three out of the four generations have started with Rock, which only serves to unbalance the starters and make Fire-types suck. C'mon, Game Freak, stop this madness! I don't want to use that ugly-ass otter this time, at least let me use the Fire-type pig!

Since they've averted PoorPredictableRock by giving the first gym leader(s) a type advantage over you no matter what and making the second gym leader specialize in normal type pokemon, I have to say "be free". (And nice! Oshawott doesn't deserve that~)

This troper(who doesnt have contributer page yet) is an expert at finding and catching pokemon. I take pokemon orders too! Many people order shinies from me. The ones I treasure most are Goldilox (golden steelix) Shady (Orangeish Mightyena) and Sky Guy (Orangeish yellow Fearow, stuck in my pokemon ranch due to an idiot move) and I will take battles from nearly anyone.

this troper tried time and time again to get an Elekid on the pokewalker for the first gym (since she learned from past playthroughs that Mareep and it's evolutions were relatively unreliable electric types, and I planned to use the same electric type for Red but Blastoise would always OHKO her Magneton/zone with focus blast). after running into several dozen Magnemites/Rattatas (+ one Murkrow), she gave up and decided to just breed one in platinum and trade the egg over to her soulsilver. to make sure she still got an Elekid with thunder punch, she bred a female Electabuzz w/ thunder punch with a Hitmonchan that knew all three elemental punches (thunder/ice/fire). she knew that this would result in the Elekid knowing thunder punch (since if both parents know a move that the child learns by leveling up, the child will also know the move), but she wasn't too familiar with the concept of "Egg Moves" (special moves that can be passed down from father to child), so she was surprised when the Elekid knew ''all three elemental punches''. after struggling a bit with the first sprout tower trainer (due to still being level one), Electron quickly leveled up and managed to sweep the sprout tower ''and'' the first gym ''all by himself'', just by using those punches! (he would have done so without taking damage had I not accidentally had him use fire punch on Falkner's Pidgeotto, allowing it to survive long enough to attack.) How's ''that'' for a Disk One Nuke? He is now an Electivire, is her team's main powerhouse, and ''still'' knows those elemental punches, along with Earthquake , which he learned via TM. The rest of this troper's team consists of:

the same troper as the one with the above Elekid story also ran into a shiny Graveler in victory road in SS, she just used her master ball on it rather than risk it blowing up. she also ran into a shiny Geodude in emerald and managed to catch it on the first ultra ball. This troper's first video game in the history of ever was Gold. The best way to describe how that worked out is to listen to Ain't Back Yet by Kenny Chesney. The games, the anime, the TCG... I've been in love since I was four. And the best part? One of my old friends, who had an obsession with the Legend of Zelda, once told me "By the time we'r in high school, I'll be over Link and you'll be over Typhlosion." Recently, I saw him again. So, I walked right up and said, "I just bough [=HeartGold=] and picked up a Cyndaquil. I'm fifteen. Great call."

This troper managed beat Clair's Kingdra with only a Blaziken left during his first playthrough of [=HeartGold=]. After the Blaziken survived Kingdra's Hyper Beam, he took advantage of its recharge and cherry tapped a few Quick Attacks.

In the same battle, his Togekiss got a Substitute from Metronome, and quickly took care of both of Clair's Dragonair, who kept spamming Thunder Wave.

This troper remembers his first battle against a Gym Leader ever in Pokémon; against Brock, when he rented Yellow ages ago. The battle...didn't really go so well; I heavily relied on my Pikachu to make it through, by spamming Quick Attack over and over, never stopping to heal (My though, at the time was "Hey; since I can't get a Water type yet, and Ash was able to beat Brock using a Pikachu, than so can I!"). After trying multiple times and losing all my money, I managed to pull it off by some stroke of luck...only for the batteries in my Game Boy to die on me before I could save. I did manage to beat him a second time, though, but it was pretty annoying at first.

In an instance from the same playthough of Pokémon Yellow, This troper remembers fondly of his battle against Lt. Surge for how epic it was. I was up past my bedtime, using my flashlight to see the screen and a pair of headphones so I could listen to that epic Gym Battle theme without my mom knowing I was up late. As the battle began, and my Pikachu charged into battle against Raichu, a thunderstorm happened to roll through, in real life, to set the mood. The fight went on a long time, but I managed to pull a victory in the end; just as the storm began to let up. That was simply too epic for words; my mind was blown by how awesome that battle was.

This troper (same one with the steelix mightyena and fearow shiny) was watching his friend play pokemon emerald (really laggy due to slow conncection) and he saw a shiny nincada!

This troper is in the process with another buddy to figure out how to translate the Pokemon world, creatures and style, into a d20 system.

Since Pokemon Yellow, this troper's team always followed a basic formula: Grass, Water, Fire, Flying, Electric, and one random type.

Yellow: Pikachu, Pidgeot, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, the sixth spot I usually rotate.

Silver: Typhlosion, Lugia, Ampharos, Gyarados (the shiny one at the Lake of Rage), Donphan, (He didn't fully adapt this formula until Sapphire, so he didn't have a grass Pokemon. But in Soulsilver I put in Meganium and added in a Snorlax to rotate)

Leafgreen: Venusaur, Raichu, Pidgeot, Ninetales, Dewgong, Snorlax

Emerald: Sceptile, Swellow, Electrode, Aggron, Torkoal, Azumarill

Pearl: Torterra, Staraptor, Lucario, Starmie, Electivire, Magmortar

This Troper once caught a black Golbat on Sapphire. I thought it was just a regular shiny for years. When I tranferred it to Diamond, the color palette got fixed, which made me curious. Turns out my Golbat was slightly glitched. Let's just say I've been regretting ever transferring it ever since. I don't even have photographic evidence... *starts weeping in the corner*

This troper played the games, yeah, but the anime was my thing. My first crush was on James. That's all I came here to say.

Once, when playing Red Version, I made it to Mewtwo's lair after months of work...Only to remember that I accidentally SOLD THE MASTER BALL. And so, after a few failed attempts with Ultra balls, I decided to start a new game. Then, after a few more months of work, I made it back to Mewtwo...To remember that I put the master ball in PC storage. I caught him with ultra balls this time, but it didn't stop me from feeling stupid.

Since when is it possible to sell the master ball?

In gen I, it was possible to sell the Master Ball, although it had a value of 0. It was changed to 10,000 in gen II, and it wasn't until gen III that you couldn't sell it at all.

This lurker is currently Nuzlocking Emerald, and in every single Pokemon game she's ever played, she anphromorphosises every pokemon she catches. Her Nuzlocke team consists of a stoic Grovyle with a severe survivor's guilt complex and subsequent repressed rage following the death of his first partner, a Dustox who tries to redeem himself in the eyes of his teammates but keeps screwing himself over, a Taillow who's trying to keep the team together but is just too young to really understand that responsibility, and an Electrike who has no idea what she's gotten herself into but enjoys the ride anyway. The deceased? In order of first to fall: Poochyena, Lombre, and Sableye. Her non-nuzlocke [=SoulSilver=] challenge is much more cheery with a sophisticated Wooper, a slightly yangire Hoppip and the team mom Beedrill.

Mine (in Platinium) is a Tortera (Piscis) who is overconfident in himself, but sometimes gets coward, a Porygon-Z (Free Pascal) that does nothing but picking fight with Piscis, a Togekiss (Lady), complete Tsundere towards Free Pascal, even if Free Pascal is asexual and doesn't care and last a Staraptor (Takeshi) who is the most responsible of the four...

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who does this. On Platinum, I've got Empoleon, Flareon, Drifloon, Luxray, Floatzel, and Gallade. I confess that every pair except Empoleon and Flareon double as {{Action Couple}}s.

I was debating whether to get one of the GS remakes, until I remembered something. Back when I was a kid playing Gold, I used to coast through the gyms with the Skarmory my dad gave me. By the time I got to the Elite Four, the rest of my team was horribly underleveled; the only three who had a bit of a chance were Skarmory, Meganium, and Dragonair. I never got past Karen; I now have Soul Silver. REMEMBER ME, KAREN?!

This Troper spent 919 hours and 48 minutes on the current runs of nine games, well, last time I checked. I clocked in on Diamond at 528 hours alone.

This Troper has had some pretty awesome moments on [=SoulSilver=]. First of all, I caught Mewtwo in a Poké Ball, which had a success rate of ~2% when it was asleep and on 1HP. Second, I beat Red using only a Lv100 Arceus. I also have a team of two Pokémon (Lv100 Jynx and Machamp) which clears out the Elite Four with next to no effort. I've been playing Pokémon for about 12 years now, and all of those, as well as completing the Dex on Yellow, are easily my crowning achievements.

This troper's HG team consists of Typhlosion (Roy), Garchomp (Lancelot), Ampharos (Miranda), Gallade, Dewgong (Sokka), Pidgeot (Valkyrie). The Pidgeot is mostly there for Fly, since most Flying Pokemon don't have very good natural movesets. All but Gallade and Garchomp have been there since the beginning of the game and were part of the first Hall of Fame team.

Is it weird that this troper likes to make up personality quirks for his Pokemon team? Politoed and Marowak are {{Vitriolic Best Buds}}, Scizor is {{Hot Blooded}}, Typhlosion is {{The Stoic}}, and so on.

Weird? Not at all. It's a great way to immerse yourself into the game more. In various games I've got a CheerfulChild Sunflora, an honorable Don Quixote-esque Farfetch'd, a CrazyAwesome Ambipom, a TeamMom Blissey, a simplistic but loyal Sudowoodo, and so on.

Me too! My Platinum Team (I'm the same troper from some way up the page) consists of an OnlySaneMan Infernape, a Kricketune who is so horrible at singing it can be used as a perish song, a crazy Staraptor who doesn't trust anyone, a feral Quagsire, an eternally happy Espeon, and an extremely depressed Absol.

This troper's Heart Gold team includes an honorable, proud warrior of a Gallade, a mischievous-yet-loyal Gengar, a CloudCuckooLander Octillery, a {{RoboSpeak}}ing Magnezone, a BoisterousBruiser Aerodactyl, and a wise, stoic Xatu (Essentially the personality of the Xatu from the Mystery Dungeon games.). My reserves include a GenkiGirl Furret and a slow-witted yet peaceful Typhlosion.

My (same person as the previous entry) Diamond team featured a calm, collected Empoleon, a TeamMom Drifblim, a sneaky prankster Carnivine, a Drapion who is essentially Bill from Left4Dead in terms of personality, a Yanmega that started out as a hyperactive runt before becoming the LightningBruiser Big Guy, and a brash, hammy Armaldo. Yes, I like bugs, in case you couldn't tell. All three of the bugs are {{SixthRanger}}s, though. The empty three slots were rotated, but briefly included a Rotom, who was a twitchy GeniusDitz.

This troper now has a Ninjask and a Shedinja, but is planning to get [=LeafGreen=] (in order to get all three starters over to his Diamond game) then [=HeartGold=] (to trade my current Pokemon there to Johto) and also starting over three different times in Hoenn so that I can get the three starters. I already transferred my Sceptile over, but I want to get the data (and also, Grovyles are awesome). I'm also trying to find a Ditto that I can breed with my Eevee to get every Eeveelution. I've got a lot of stuff planned...-_-;

This 19 year old troper has only completed one regional dex, Hoenn (3rd gen). The last Pokemon that I had to catch and evolve was a Feebas. That damn thing took me 15 hours to find and then it took 15 minutes to evolve. Also my favorite type is dark. I love dark types so much I have an all dark team. Weavile is my favorite pokemon and Blaziken is a very close second.

This troper has the Black Trainer Card on Pearl, and is currently working on duplicating the feat on [=SoulSilver=] (might get back to Platinum too, but seeing as how Black and White come out next year, not likely). [=SoulSilver=] was the first game in which I actually had a non-rotating team:

And then Lt.Torch (DON'T ASK ABOUT THE NAME!)and his friends did it ''again''.This Troper was fighting Koga, with his ''lovely'' Crobat, who spammed Double Team.My Pidgeot, Lt.Airhedd, missed ''every.single.one.'' of the moves.Then, I switched to my (very male) Venomoth, Venn, who I suspected having an affair with Airhedd all along.He faints.I switch to Airhedd again. ''He did not miss one move since then, until the end of the battle.''.My fan theories are being promoted to canon, seroiusly.

This Troper makes it a point to rotate his team in Pokemon games as little as possible. In other words, if the team can't deal with ANYTHING the game sends at you, barring HM move usage, then it's not good enough. His current team in [=SoulSilver=] is:

A Typhlosion, lovingly named "Critiquil" due to the overwhelmingly good luck with criticals early on in the game, who is TheHero and the main powerhouse of the team with Eruption, Focus Blast, Flamethrower and Quick Attack.

An Ampharos named "Ampere" after the real life measurement of electrical current, who is TheSmartGuy and another powerful attacker and Special wall. It's got Discharge (to be replaced with Thunderbolt eventually), Signal Beam, Focus Blast and Thunder Wave.

A Heracross named "Heracles", an alternate name for Hercules, who shares the role as TheBigGuy with another member. Heracles has Brick Break, Megahorn, Close Combat and Aerial Ace, which allow it to unleash its potential as an attacker.

Sharing the role of TheBigGuy with Heracles is Crimson, the Red Gyarados, who is named as such for obvious reasons: colour. With Waterfall, Surf, Bite and Ice Fang, Crimson is another powerful attacker.

TheLancer, a Skarmory named "Skarmy" due to this Troper's frequent skipping over syllables whilst speaking, is the last permanent member. This thing can take hits like a beast, and also dish them out surprisingly well, too, with moves like Fly, Night Slash and Steel Wing under its belt. It also carries Stealth Rock, which helps quite a bit in some major battles, Lance being the most prominent.

A free slot is available for whoever needs it at the time. It is usually occupied by an HM slave, a vastly underpowered Lugia, an under trained Umbreon or a Wi-Fi event-obtained Jirachi.

My personal starter of choice for each generation rotates in a very odd pattern.

Gen I: Grass (Bulbasaur). Gen II: Fire (Cyndaquil). Gen III: Water (Mudkip). Gen IV: Grass (Turtwig). I plan to use Pokabu, a fire-type, for Black. It remains to be seen if I will use a water-type for my Gen VI game.

Whoa, I did the exact same thing. Trope minds think alike?

[=HeartGold=] Team: Fuego (Typhlosion) or Anemos (Arcanine), Ptolemy (Ampharos), Doku (Crobat), Goliath (Steelix), [=MsDemeanor=] (Mismagius), Poseidon (Kingdra). Often switch Goliath for a Togekiss, except in competitive play, where I prefer Goliath for Stealth Rock.

My current team: Lv. 39 Togetic(Male) Lv. 40 Jirachi, Lv. 40 Feraligatr(Female) Lv. 40 Umbreon(Female) Lv. 40 Nidoking, Lv. 28 Skarmory(In training, Female) I don't really like nicknames, but I do give them personalities in my head. Of course I ignore their nature when I do this :P

Let me (slvstrChung) tell you, dear tropers, about the very first time I played the Pokemon CCG. I was introduced to ''MagicTheGathering'' by my cousin 15 years ago, so when Pokemon first hit stores we wanted to check it out. We bought identical starter decks (the store didn't have different ones), learned the rules and sat down to play. Well, after some turns had passed, I looked the Mon I had in play, the Mon ''he'' had in play, and the cards I had in my hand. And I realized: unless I somehow were to draw a GameBreaker out of my deck—which wasn't going to happen, as I only owned 60 cards and none of them ''were'' Game Breakers—I would lose on my cousin's third turn after this one. And I did. As a prize, he got my deck... because any game where I can figure that out, on my first match ''ever'', is a game I'm not going to waste time on.

this troper just got her bulbasaur back from the pokewalker after walking with it long enough to get 5000 watts. the message on the last page of the journal said "Bulbo seems so very content. this is a day he will never ever forget". their's something about the way that was said that really touched this troper. now it's the ''only'' pokemon she'll put in her pokewalker

I first played Pokemon when I was 7, on the [=LeafGreen=] catridge I begged my older brother for a month to give to me. I got it, and chose Charmander as my starter, 'cause I though he looked the most awesome. I named him Flame, because I was 7. He was basically the only 'Mon I used for the whole game, besides training up a Butterfree to level 15 and a Pidgey to evole into a Pidgeotto. I didn't even change out the rest of my team, every other Pokemon I caught was sent to the PC, unless I needed a new one for an HM move, and my team remained really weak for the rest of the game since I only trained Flame. I once got really freaked out because, when I was battling the Biker's on the Cycling Road, he got poisoned, and fainted out of battle, and so I turned the game off and redid everything I had done since the last save, including beating Erika's gym. Flame beat every gym single-handedly, and by the time I had explored the first 3 Sevii Islands, he was over level 80. I quit that game before I battled the E4 though.

On that same catridge, I left the level 15 Butterfree in the Daycare Center when I first stumbled upon it. I then forgot about the Daycare center until after I had beaten every gym. When I remembered about the Butterfree, I forgot where the Daycare center was. Later, I was walking in that area and wondered what the building was, went in, and got my Butterfree back for a huge fee.

Later, I bred Flame, who knew Blast Burn, and got a little Charmander, which I named Flame Jr. (my 7-year-old mind was so creative). he came out of the egg knowing Blast Burn, which me and my brother found hilarious.

I've caught a Gible and a Dratini. Both are now in their second evolution stages, and coupled with my Lairon, will form half of the team that I'll take on the Elite Four (for the second time) with. My other three will be my three strongest Pokemon: My Torterra, my Staraptor, and my Lucario.

This troper manged in Pokemon Gold to defeat Red using lv 50 pokemon. No, really. I used a Haunter, Ampharos, Noctowl, Bellosom, Ninoqueen and a Feraligatr. I did go thorugh about 15 revives and loads of max potions though.

This troper is currently working on completing the Pokedex on Pokemon [=SoulSilver=]. I am almost finished with up to the Johto Pokemon, and is currently stuck with Hitmontop; can't get the [=EVs=] right. The only legendaries he hasn't got are Darkrai and Shaymin, and his current team is Spoon (lv 100 female Alakazam), Flapper (lv 36 female Pidgeot), Cerberus (lv 28 male Absol) and Mudchute (lv 22 male Quagsire). I only use one for battling (guess who), and the rest for [=HMs=] and False Swiping. The only two shinies I have are a shiny Gyarados (the one from the Lake of Rage), and a shiny Zubat/Golbat/Crobat picked up in Mt. Mortar. The other Pokemon games I own are Platinum, Pearl, Emerald and [=FireRed=]. I have a fairly balanced team on Platinum and I mostly use it to trade Sinnoh Pokemon and legendaries over to [=SoulSilver=]. I bought Pearl the year it came out but I never really played it much and soon plan to use it to get the Sinnoh starters. I played Emerald to death years ago and have already traded Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza and Latios over to [=SoulSilver=], as well as various other Hoenn Pokemon. I bought [=FireRed=] a few months ago. Luckily, the old save file on it happened to be hacked and had infinite Master Balls, evolution stones, as well as a Deoxys and Jirachi. I then used it to get the Kanto starters and am currently attempting to play the whole game using a Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise, not counting HM slaves. I have been with Pokemon since the first generation. I used to own Blue, and for some reason used to own Gold, Silver, and Crystal. In the realm of spin-offs, I have Stadium, Colosseum, Battle Revolution, Ranger, Ranger: Shadows Of Almia, Pokepark Wii, Link, and Mystery Dungeon Blue, which I regret greatly. Am currently planning to get Guardian Signs and Pokemon Black.

This troper has managed to beat every game she owns except for Yellow and Crystal. Her best accomplishment, she thinks, is beating the Sinnoh Elite Four (Diamond) using a team of all level 50 Pokemon. Her team was Empoleon (Thrym), Rapidash (Antimony), Luxray (Linx), Staraptor (Blitzwing), Roserade (Folimanus), and Dialga (Adamantium), and she's beaten every dungeon, has about 420 different species of Pokemon, and has caught almost every legendary available in the game fairly. She's also imported every Pokemon from her Sapphire and [=LeafGreen=] games, including her entire main team.

Sapphire Team: Blaziken (Infernia) leads as the starter, followed by Kyogre, Flygon (Mohabi), Gardevoir (Grace), Aggron (Metallica), and a Swellow (the sixth Pokemon being pointless).

[=LeafGreen=]: Blastoise, Ninetales, Pidgeot, Raichu, Jynx, and...an HM slave.

Platinum is much less impressive (since Cynthia got upgraded), but her team consisted of Pokemon all around level 55 (after she replaced two of them for harder hitters). That team is led by a Torterra (Punjin), followed by Gyarados (named Shaolong and replacing the Floatzel), Staraptor (Yurayura), Houndoom (named Corona and replacing the Rapidash), Luxray (named Raiko), Espeon (on-and-off, named Apollo), and her Giratina (known as Antimatter).

[=SoulSilver=]: Namir (Feraligatr), Chocolate (Ninetales), Whitewings (Lugia), Elle (Ampharos), and Mana (Umbreon). She's especially proud of the last one, because Mana evolved into Umbreon at level 28, just in time to act as the BarrierWarrior against Clair. No matter what she did, Kingdra just couldn't take the little puffball down before she was healed. And getting constantly confused or sand attacked left the gym leader with no options but to bow to the inevitable as Namir finished her off.

This troper is now unable to even attempt to catch any pokemon beyond maybe 7 or 8 as she feels terrible about dumping them in a PC. She is currently on [=SoulSilver=] and won't stop until she gets her dream team! Pikachu is always a must, and shall be named Chuu just because. Yes a double U!

TheBigGuy: Scyther, abandoned and was a SatisfiedStreetRat prior to being caught. Also a ChivalrousPervert (well I don't know how else to interpret a naughty nature) and a BadAss (taking out Claire's Kingra in two hits, yes!). Also a LightningBruiser who proves MusclesAreMeaningless, when compared to some of my other big guys.

TheChick: Togekiss, is a CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass and CheerfulChild. She also becomes a BlackMagicianGirl in battles.

TheSixthRanger: Gyarados, simply the TagalongKid until evolving. After that he became a LightningBruiser and a backup big guy. Also formerly a {{Determinator}} who worked hard to earn his happy ending.

This troper is currently going through Emerald with what she calls "The OC Run". For that challenge, you can only catch as many Pokemon as [=OCs=] you own, and they have to be named after those [=OCs=] and share some characteristics with them. Her current collection consists of:

Catherine the Sceptile, TheHero and team leader, and also one of only two girls in my team. A laid-back country girl who works hard to keep the team together.

Darkshade the Mightyena, TheSmartGuy, also a DeadpanSnarker {{Determinator}} who's working hard to earn his happy ending despite being the second weakest fighter in my team (losing out only to Herbie, who's normally too cheerful to care). He got his CrowningMomentOfAwesome when he took down Brendan's Pre-Fortree team single-handedly, after which he began to lighten up. Also Herbie's heterosexual life partner

Brad the Gardevoir, TheLancer. Has a HairTriggerTemper due to pent up anger from being constantly mistaken for a girl both before and after joining my team. Looking for love long after his capture, he finally got his wish in the form of...

Mother Nature (or rather, [=MothrNatur=], given the character limit) the Castform, TheChick. Brad's polar opposite in terms of temperament, yet can't live without him.

Wallaby the Absol, TheBigGuy. A happy, go-lucky guy who acts more like a TeamPet than anything, yet his high offensive stats and speed combined with a diverse movepool make him a very powerful fighter.

Herbie the Linoone, The SixthRanger and TagalongKid. Initially, he was only on the team for three reasons: one, his pickup ability; two, his covet attack and high speed; and three, whenever he's off the team, Darkshade's performance in battle seems to suffer... During the battle with the champion, however, I realized that I had severely underestimated Herbie when he took down Wallace's Gyarados, his final Pokemon, all by himself after two stronger members fell to it with the others falling to his other Pokemon! Did I mention that I had no revives (meaning that if Herbie fainted, I lost) and that the move used was Return? Not to mention he was the only one able to out speed it after it used one Dragon Dance! This troper is now looking for a better moveset for him so he can live up to the potential he showed in that battle.

HAN-D the Ludicolo, used as an HM slave and fills in Herbie's role as the TagalongKid whenever she's on the team

Tempest the Tropius. Another HM slave that fills [=MothrNatur=]'s role as TheChick whenever she's with me.

Melody the Jigglypuff, never been on the team, never will be, only caught her to name after another OC. I intend to catch a Smeargle for the same reason once I finish the game.

This troper absolutely adores [=SoulSilver=]/[=HeartGold=], because they're the first Pokemon games she ever beat - she played [=LeafGreen=], but never beat the E4. She's extremely fond of the team she first beat it with, and her habit when playing is to talk to the game. Things like, "It's okay, honey, you can do it, you can survive, just one more hit and you win - YES! Good boy!" Also, she was delighted to get a chance to play an Eeveelution run-through, since they're some of her favorites.

This troper likes to read about other peoples' teams and feels like sharing hers. I have all the main series games, but lost a few and erased some files.

This troper has no luck with shinies. My dad traded him a shiny Magikarp he caught in Pearl Version, but that Magikarp is now a red Gyarados, and indistinct from the red Gyarados you automatically encounter in HG/SS. However, in Fire Red, I did once see a shiny Espeon. In the Battle Tower. Argh.

The Espeon in FR/LG Battle Tower is supposed to be shiny. Its like this on mine too.

This Troper got a female starter for the first time ever on her new HG game. And then said starter got PokéRus. I almost cried tears of joy.

Loa, a female Typhlosion and a bold and impatient {{Berserker}}, but inwardly a GentleGiant who doesn't dislike her trainer as much as she claims to.

Spectre, a female Gengar, acting as a snarky Aloof Older Sister who may or may not have joined the team out of pity. Acts as a {{Mentor}} figure to her trainer.

Regin, a female Slowking and a CloudCuckoolander despite being one of the most intelligent members of the team. Usually is TheVoiceless, but when she does speak...

Viridian, a female Leafeon, an InsufferableGenius with an EvilLaugh who may be planning to take over the world. A {{Schemer}}, but remains loyal to her team and trainer when it counts.

Katana, a female Scizor and a LadyOfWar ShrinkingViolet who, despite disliking combat, is extremely good at it.

Aerith, a female Dragonite and the SixthRanger. She serves as the team's Heart, and is a close friend to her teammate Katana.

This troper, who was the first guy to list his teams way way up at the top of the page, has decided to come up with signature themes for his various Pokemon. I got the idea when I saw a picture of Yanappu while JonathanCoulton's Code Monkey was stuck in my head. I'm still not certain on my Black team, so after that all I know is something from TengenToppaGurrenLagann for Doryuuzu.

This troper's current team in Heart Gold is the only one he's really applied personalities to.

Hephaestus (male Typhlosion), obviously his starter. His attacks are mostly fire-type, but he also knows Rollout (which led to two totally unexpected quick KOs - The first against Rocket Executive Archer's Houndour and Houndoom (which were two of the reasons he decided he should learn the move) and the second against Lance's Charizard, which went down in one hit from a Rollout he'd used to finish the previous opponent). Is almost totally reliant on his fire moves, and ended up flamethrowering one of Lance's Dragonites into oblivion when everyone else collapsed. Enjoys a challenge, but has a habit of going completely berserk and incinerating anything which dares KO...

I felt so original when I named my Cyndaquil that...

His girlfriend Amy, an unimaginatively-named Ampharos who joined the party after Violet City because the troper knew he was going to need an electric type. Had she been male, the name would have been Zeus, to fit with the greek mythology theme. Relatively caring, but again, extremely protective of her mate (and prone to {{Psycho Electro}} tendencies if he gets hurt).

Poseidon, the male Red Gyarados from Lake of Rage, who serves as the team's Surf and Waterfall user. He spends about ninety percent of his life inside the pokéball, but when he comes out, You're gonna get soaked. Proved that revenge is best served cold when his trainer used him to take down every Rocket in the Mahogany town base - then froze Petrel's Raticate solid with his newly-learned Ice Fang.

Athena, a female Noctowl. the clever one, and the one who does most of the transport work for the team via Fly. She's also the team's Mezzer, being the only one capable of reliably inflicting a disabling status (via Hypnosis) on opponents. Notable achievements include {{Cherry Tapping}} about a third of the Elite Four's 'mons into defeat.

Demeter, a female Scyther, who mainly stays in the party because Cut is more commonly needed than this troper would like. Her tongue is almost as sharp as her blades, but she hides it well.

GRAVELER, the odd one out. Mainly present for the purpose of breaking and/or moving rocks. Does very little talking, but tends to make oddly deep comments when she does speak.

Iblis, the first 'mon this troper ever owned, and obtained at the start of Sapphire as a Torchic. Having evolved into a Blaziken and reached level 100 - Troper's only 'mon so far to achieve that - Iblis is just as destructive as his namesake and moves like lightning. His explosive temper and personality match his owner to the point that they've developed near-telepathic communication in battle. Notable for: Knowing Flare Blitz because Troper wanted to see what would happen if he used the move on a Paras.

DARKRAI, obtained through an Event the year Troper got Diamond, less than a month and a half after he did so. As an Event 'mon, DARKRAI's name is fixed, but that doesn't make a difference to his catastrophic power. Most Darkrai use their nightmare-inducing powers uncontrollably, but this one has learned relatively well to focus them away from people except in battle. Notable for: Knowing Spacial Rend. Legally. Also, taking a nap during the Pastoria Gym battle because Troper didn't have enough badges to make it listen, followed by destroying the Leader's last 'mon in one hit on waking up and tearing the Hearthome gym to pieces the next day.

Skitty, an adorable little ball of pink and yellow fluff powered by cute. She's effectively the team's secret weapon, since nobody expects such a cute kitty to be able to use Spacial Rend or Flare Blitz (through Assist). Representative of her trainer's ConfusionFu fighting style, Skitty is prone to chasing her tail or stopping to clean herself halfway through battles without warning, but usually avoids getting flattened via Attract. Skitty is only brought out for battle events or against the Elite Four, however, and is usually replaced by a Surf and Waterfall-using Floatzel.

Wraith, a Shedinja specialising in StealthHiBye and CherryTapping opponents to death. His near-invulnerable nature combined with a series of very annoying moves makes him effectively the team's Mezzer, although his offense is almost non-existent. The quietest of the team, Wraith communicates exclusively via telepathy, but for this reason he's capable of acting as a negotiator between humans and 'mons.

Crobat, who is more or less the trope his name links to there. He DOES know Fly, but avoids using the move simply because he hates flying at high altitude (due to an unpleasant experience with thunder and hailstorms several years ago). However, at low altitude he takes full advantage of his incredible speed to leave opponents in the dust - only Iblis is faster on the team.

GRAVELER, an unimaginatively-named but easily-excited Graveler who mainly travels with the group for the purposes of heavy lifting or breaking rocks.

And said troper now has White, too! This is going to be my endgame team, most likely, so I'll put this up now.

Erymanthia, my starter for the Unova region and my toughest 'mon so far. Having been trained FAR ahead of the rest of the group, Ery tends to sit out of fights against weaker opponents so they have a chance to catch up. A physical brute with twice as much attack as defense and decent speed to boot, you do NOT want to stand in front of her when she starts running.

Seismitoad, the second of my team to be caught chronologically and the second to evolve overall. Seismitoad is a second brick wall but tends to wield aquatic death rather than its alternative ground-type. Went through a brief period of being called Emperor because I thought Palpitoad matched it.

Sigilyph, a flying/psychic type who nearly KO'd half the team at the time of capture. Not the best survivalist, but offensively powerful and exceedingly fast, Sigilyph tends to stay out of the way and fight from above the enemy's reach.

Cofagrigus, the party's tank. Near-invulnerable to physical and special moves alike, and capable of spreading its mummification to remove abilities that pose a threat to it if struck physically, Cofagrigus is a potentially lethal MightyGlacier, even with its huge disadvantage in being unable to damage Normal-types due to its moveset. Doubles as the team's only status inflicter with Will'O'Wisp, although that's mainly to power up its Hex.

Interwebz, a Joltik who I caught on the grounds that she was adorable and who turned out to be quite the BlackMagicianGirl with a little training. Even squishier than Sigilyph due to her unenviable Bug/Electric typing, she's a very surprising counter to flying-types looking for a quick snack.

And finally, Krios, a Cryogonal caught entirely because I knew I'd need an ice-type for the final gym. Learning Frost Breath by TM and Ice Beam a few levels after catching secured its place in the final team, and it's the only member of the party to know a Steel move (Flash cannon) - although exactly why it knows that instead of Blizzard is anyone's guess.

Even with Arceus, Manaphy, Deoxys, Darkrai and Shaymin (sixth slot for Bibarel, I'm not wasting hidden machines on legendaries), all pumped to level 100 (thanks to trading to Diamond, then using Action Replay to get the 999 Rare Candies, then trading back to heart gold as I don't want to use AR on that game due to fear of anything going wrong if it's not Diamond or Pearl), I've learned that Red is still a "don't screw with me" guy. Frankly, I needed to beat him quickly to get my Squirtle (for nostalgic purposes)

PhoenixdaughterAM I have [=LeafGreen=] /[=SoulSilver=]/Emerald/Platium. I like trying to come up with a certain team for each Gen. Interestingly for starters I noticed a perference in Fire/Grass/Water. Chamander, Chikorita, Mudkip, (They liek me!) and Chimchar. (That was mostly because of the ONLY fire type you can get outside of Ponyta) So my money's on Snake-in-the-grass next gen.

Charizard "Charmy" Female. First Pokemon as-you know how I got her. Very brave and very bold. Loves to fight and enjoys the battle. Works best with Chu but is also good with Dest

Raichu "Chu" Male. Second Pokemon found in Virdian Forest. He considers himself to be a very attractive Pokemon and finds some sucess. Didn't want to evolve until the gym battle with Giovanni. Best with Charmy but also is good with Pera. (Same egg type. Hmm...)

Gyarados "Dest" Male. Third Pokemon by the Magikarp Salesman. He was such an...idiotic Magikarp but became a MONSTER when he evolved. It took a bit but eventually, he calmed down enough for battle. Best with Bell but also good with Charmy.

Victreebel "Bell" Male. Fourth Pokemon during training for Magikarp. Considered an oddball, he was left alone mostly keeping a friendship with Magikarp. Then he evolved. Bell is one of the reasons he calmed down. (Repeated poisonings can do that) Best with Dest but also good with Sandy.

Persain "Pera" Female. Fifth after a running through. The resident ButtMonkey. Thanks to her capture by poising, she hates that status. Seems to have a crush on Chu. Best with Sandy but also good with Chu.

Sandslash "Sandy" Female. Quiet, she mostly hangs around Pera trying to cheer her up. She is fully capable of taking down Dest so...carefull. Best with Pera but also good with Bell.

[=SoulSilver=]-Sally (I plan on brining my [=LeafGreen=] team over when I finish things up. Along with training a Ralts and getting Mudkip and another Charmander/Chimchar) I love the Pokelthon but THAT GALDARNED SAND/FLAG ONE!

Meganium "Mega" Male. Pretty quiet. Tends let others take the lead. Works surpsingly well with Pidge.

Pidgeot "Pidge" Female. Resident bird-brain. Works well with Mega.

Ninetales "Tails" Female. Unusally timid, it took awhile to realize she was the favorite. Works well with Poli.

Politoed "Poli" Female. The Red Oni to Tails' Blue is the life of a party! Works well with Tails.

Espeon "Espa" Male. Likewise very shy but so far warmed up pretty well, and is the only one to find the Shiny Leaf yet! Works well with Golem.

Golem Female. Traded from GTS and was evidently met found from Victory Road. (Now which one?) Her willingness to learn makes her strong. Works well with Espa.

This troper usually plans out her team but she feels that her Emerald and Soul Silver teams are her most succesful. Her Ruby and Pearl team kind of sucks.

In Emerald I have: Nemesis (Female Breloom), Clarisse (Female Gardevoir), Bianca (Female Altaria), Nightshade (Female Absol), Blue (Female Minun) and Soar (Female Salamance)

And In Soul Silver I have: Rachel (Female Noctowl), James (Male Meganium), Alfred (Male Vaporeon), Matthew (Male Flareon), Luciana (Female Dragonite), England (Raikou).

Very recently Matthew had a Crowning Moment of awesome. I went to battle the Elite Four for a second time and I was battling Lance. I decided to keep Alfred for last so when Lance sent out his Dragonite I sent out Matthew. Before the battle I had given the Flareon a Focus Sash but it had never worked before with me. So when the Dragonite used Draco Meteor I panicked then cue it being a critical hit. Cue the Focus Sash working /for the first time/ and Matthew beating the crap out the Dragonite with Fire Blast. Then I used Full Restore. After that first Draco Meteor, Matthew kept getting hit by /Draco Meteors and Hyper Beams but never getting close to fainting/ too bad it fainted before we got to defeat the Dragonite.

Also very recently James had a Crowning Moment of Awesome/Crowning Moment of Funny. I was battling Red for the first time and was sure that she was going to lose since /all/ my team was at level 73. I panicked when Pikachu was the first pokemon, but I had sent out James so it was all good. Then the funniest and awesomest thing happened, Red's Pikachu used Iron Tail but it /missed/ and James used Earthquake. AND THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK! Seriously, after using Earthquake once the level 88 Pikachu lost to a level /73/ Meganium. I know that Electric-type pokemons are weak to Ground-type attacks, but still it shouldn't have taken down the Pikachu with one attack.

This isn't my main team but I have almost all Legendaries in Soul Silver almost all named after countries (With two exceptions of Entei and Mewtwo): S. Africa (Suicune), Argentina (Moltres), Russia (Lugia), Uruguay (Zapdos), Brasil (Articuno), N. England (Entei), America (Ho-Oh), Jean (Mewtwo), and England (Raikou).

The other day, this troper was, like, playing Pokemon, and his Cascoon evolved into Dustox. It was pretty cool. He named him Buttcheeks. Eheheh...EHEHEHEheheheheheh...I said 'butt'. And 'cheeks'.

This Troper had a COMPLETE Crystal game, including Celebi (He only got that by Gameshark, and the ONLY one he got through that method). In Later years, he moved onto Ruby and completed that one too. He was very disheartened when he found his Crystal completely dead after 3 solid years of pure game time. His favorite teams are as follows:

Crystal: Magneton, Mewtwo, Tyranitar, Politoed, Houndoom, and Dragonite.

Ruby: Tyranitar, Magneton, Gardevior, Flygon, Glalie, and Altaria

This troper has loved pokemon since the early days, She talks to hers, draws them, Thinks about them all the time, and counts them when she is bored. (AKA every pokemon, region by reigon) Names them all, owns at least 2 games set in every reigon (and 4 set in Kanto and Johto) gives her pokemon personalities. She Spent arund 7 hours training in heart Gold today, and Is singing the pokerap as she types this. Everyone seems to think she is way too old for it though...

This troper is extremely attached to her [=HeartGold=] team, and yes, she thinks they have personalities.

Ciaro the Feraligatr--Starter. The Hero and The Big Guy who doesn't often know his own strength. Enjoys pancakes with lots of syrup. Big Eater, and seems dim and lazy on the surface, but underneath the surface he is very cunning. Took out Lance's team single-handedly in a Crowning Moment of Awesome. He is very attached to his trainer, whom he acts like a big dog towards. His most prized possesion is a Shiny Leaf.

Amalantha the Ampharos-- The Lancer. Vain and selfish, bitchy and aloof, although has a Hidden Heart of Gold, as seen when it comes to her crush Crossfire. An excellent battler, she can use a wide range of attacks such as Power Gem and Signal Beam. Considers everyone else below her and her trainer, especially Ciaro. Insists on being taken to Goldenrod every Sunday for dress-up.

Crossfire the(former)Magmar--The Chick, although he is the most clear-headed of the bunch and also serves as the Smart Guy. Timid, and joined the team out of free will. Used to be a whiny Crybaby who contantly clung to his trainer and sobbed, and hardly ever fought. Was pretty weak, especially throughout the ELite Four. Afterwards, however, he trained harder and Took a Level in Badass, breezing through Kanto's gyms singlehandedly and evolving into a Magmortar at the end of it. Is also Oblivious to Love, which contantly frustrates Amalantha.

Lunette the Cleffa--Head Pet, Tagalong Kid and Bratty Half Pint. Is always getting into trouble and blaming it on the other Pokemon, and is thus much disliked throughout the team. Does not fight, but can display a side that is manipulative and persuasive. A bit of an in-team Scrappy, although she does genuinely care about her teammates and trainer.

Dragonite, got from the GTS. The Team Dad, The Mentor, and The Heart. Is gentle and careful, and very, very protective.

Kingdra--Got from the GTS. The Sixth Ranger, with a serious Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny problem. Rash, Forgetful, and curious, he mainly serves as Comic Relief, although steady training has him climbing the team roster and becoming more powerful. Is fond of Hydro Pumping his trainer when he's bored.

Two different things happened to me in the G/S/C/HG/SS series, and both were absolutely amazing. In [=SoulSilver=], Morty absolutely wiped the floor with me until I had only my level 8 Togepi, Chu, left. I was sure that I was going to lose...and then his Haunter used Sucker Punch, which missed. Every. Damn. TIME. I spammed Extrasensory and managed to defeat both Haunter AND Gengar. In the original Silver, I was fishing near Mahogany Town and I caught a Remoraid. But not just any Remoraid. It was a Level 40 ''shiny'' Remoraid. I absolutely flipped my shit and proceeded to catch it. I'm perhaps the only one out of my friends that caught a shiny Pokemon legitimately. And I feel damn proud.

These are this troper's most recent favorite teams:

[=FireRed=]: Charizard (the hero), Jolteon (the lancer), Golduck (the sixth ranger, got him last), Alakazam (the smart guy), Gengar (the chick, only female), and Golem (the big guy). Later, I switched out Gengar and Golem for Tyranitar (mighty glacier) and Crobat (lightning bruiser), but I interchange between those eight.

[=HeartGold=]: Charizard (the hero), Starmie (the lancer), Garchomp (the chick/action girl), Electivire (the big guy), Scizor (the smart guy), and Spiritomb (the sixth ranger). All of them were bred by the same Ditto, who functioned as a literal Team Mom. I also sometimes throw in a Weavile (lightning bruiser).

I just came to tell that I had a very good day on my [=SoulSilver=]. First I caught Raikou with quite minimal amount of pokeballs used, I think it was with the first ball in that battle. Then I caught Entei as well, a little bit more difficult, but I managed to do it. Then I realized my whole team had Pokerus. Good times.

This troper was on her first playthrough of [=SoulSilver=] and was about to face Morty after getting the Eevee from Bill, leveling it to 13 or so and promptly getting impatient. Most of my team got wiped by Gengar, but I somehow managed to get my Furret to use Foresight beforehand (not realising it carried over to the next Pokemon you used). With two team members left (and another Haunter after Gengar) I decided to send out Eevee thinking at least I could lower Gengar's accuracy a bit to buy time...and Gengar totally failed to hit me. At all. Cue epic battle with a level 13 Eevee knocking out a level 25 Gengar. With ''Tackle''. (Granted, it took some time, and I got lucky with Gengar only using Shadow Ball until its accuracy was really low. But it was still awesome.)

I was playing Pokémon Battle Revolution with my boyfriend and he had an Electrode out. It used Explosion. Right as the animation was about to finish, the game got a disk read error. It looked like Electrode had Exploded so hard it affected the Wii. It was annoying and hilarious at the same time.

This troper loves Pokemon to death. He started on the 2nd Generation and can't wait for the Third Version of Black and White (This troper is also sick of being screwed over for cash). He even has a team ready for when he gets it with all of tier moves planned out. His favorite things to do in Pokemon are to give every pokemon he ever caught stupid nicknames and max out their friendship as if it actually means something. He is also interested in competitive play, if only he could connect his DS to the internet or if he could get over how tedious it seems make/grind/EV train a balanced team.

Kusanagi the Daikenki: Was almost eaten by a Sanzadora as a Mijumaru, hence the name. Since then, it was too scared to do any battling for a while. Wanting to prove itself, it gradually built his courage to become TheHero of the team. It also likes to study Japanese culture on the side.

Justice the Kirikizan: Was originally named Obsidian, but after learning of its similarities to Bang Shishigami, it was renamed. Like Bang, it is an IdiotHero with LeeroyJenkins tendencies and a fetish for scarves. Wasn't liked too much at first but was gradually became a respected and valued member of the team and Kusanagi's Lancer.

Shocker the Shibirudon: BrilliantButLazy. It is usually to unreliable to do battles, grind, anything really. When it is willing though, it is easily the most powerful member of the team. The rest of the time it likes to capture demons on its trainer's DS.

Infernalno the Shanderaa: Likes to be by itself. Everyone thinks it is TheStoic, but it just doesn't want to kill anyone with its soul-stealing flames. That said, it also banned itself from using any fire moves. To get around this, it uses Batman Gambits utilizing opponents' stats and movesets against them. Its two favorite things in the world are rain and food.

Mazinger the Goruugu: A non-talkitive golem who likes animals and flowers and can preform Friendship Speeches with only hand-gestures. When a kaiju appears or the team needs transportation it grows into a giant mecha capable of shooting Rocket Punches.

BADASSLAVE the Abagoora: The HM Slave of the team, which made it think it is TheLoad, despite being considered the most valuable and badass member of the team. It can even hold its own during battles when needed, thanks to constant the TrainingFromHell that it puts itself through.

As an earlier Troper mentioned, my Gold team had (before the cartridge battery died) distinct personalities, even filling a FiveManBand dynamic

Iroh (Typhlosion): TheHero. My starter, and the most tactically-inclined of the six. Generally level-headed (odd, given his typing).

Apocalypse (Gyarados): TheLancer. VitriolicBestBuds with Iroh, with a hair-trigger temper.

Athena (Noctowl): TheSmartGuy. The one Pokemon able to communicate with me directly, using a creative application of Hypnosis. Useful for any stealth missions (being an owl). Is close with Brick and (to a lesser extent) Hannibal, utilizing a sort of FastballSpecial with them in which she tosses their Pokeballs into an an area where shit needs to be messed up.

Brick (Graveler): TheBigGuy. Jovial when not in combat, but when he is, prefers to smash everything in sight if possible. Is the only one on the team who could really be called friends with Hannibal, presumably due to them both being rock types. Will never become a Golem. The real reason for this is a lack of anyone to trade with, but the in-universe reason is that he finds the extra pair of arms quite useful, especially since he's also my strength-user.

Phyllis (Victreebel): TheChick. Doesn't get much combat use, due to a lack of mobility (she can either be carried by Brick or hang onto Hannibal's spikes). Usually serves as a mediator between Iroh and Apocalypse.

Hannibal (Tyranitar): TheSixthRanger. Not particularly well-liked by the rest of the team, due to his not having come in until Mt. Silver, and thus lacking the camaraderie the others seem to possess. Still works well with Brick, though, which has earned him some brownie points. All members of the team agree that he is a marked improvement over the original sixth member of the team, Harry the Hypno, who was just plain creepy. Is a bit more deliberative in his combat methods than Brick, preferring to use Rock Slide to Brick's Rollout.

This Troper is a former ChallengeGamer and was well on her way to becoming a StopHavingFunGuy. Between constantly browsing the Internet for what made a "good" competitive team, abusing my daycare Ditto to get thirty eggs in one sitting (I filled four boxes with hatchlings. No lie.), and learning what "[=EVs=]" were, I was getting increasingly frustrated. When it got to the point that I was either bored out of my skull or extremely frustrated, I finally pulled a ScrewThisImOuttaHere on the whole "competitive training" scene. I regressed to my old ways of a casual gamer, and shockingly enough found myself having fun playing again. These days, I catch anything looking remotely cool and bond with it (I even stopped using my Bicycle because I loved watching my Pokemon follow me around so much), train it up to level 50, and test its skills in Battle Revolution. It took one month, but my first batch of trained-from-scratch Pokemon finally made it:

Volug, a male Mightyena. He never speaks. Despite this, he is often the OnlySaneMan of the group. Extremely loyal.

Mia, a female Swellow. The {{Determinator}}. Likes to sit on her trainer's shoulder. Has a fierce rivalry with the other main flying type, Bridgette.

Tsunami, a female Empoleon. Hyper and silly, which greatly undermines the "majestic-Empoleon" thing. Likes cymbals far too much.

Ienzo, a male Zangoose. He first spurred This Troper to leave competitive battling. Fiercely honorable but naive when it comes to anything outside of battle.

Psyche, a female Latias. The baby of the team, and extremely sweet. Received from the recent Enigma Stone/Soul Dew event, and a member of This Troper's little group ever since.

This Troper is still working on the second group of trainees:

Bridgette, a female Pidgeot. Has a fierce rivalry with Mia the Swellow, despite their being extremely alike in personality.

Firion, a male Flareon. A loner, but has gradually warmed up to the other members of the team.

Lea (Pronounced "Lee"), a male Ivysaur. Bold, but a strategic thinker. Will happily Leech Seed/Poisonpowder/Giga Drain opponents to death.

Galen, a male Wartortle. Quiet and a little shy, but he's gradually beginning to come out of his shell.

James, a male Luxio. A little lazy and dislikes battling often. He constantly craves food.

In Heart Gold, I won the Bug Catching Contest with a Weedle! Take that, you second place Butterfree and third place Scyther!

Reflecting This Troper's lazy and uncaring demeanor, she has a habit of catching the first five Pokemon she comes across and using them as my main team for the rest of the game. Yes, I did take on the Elite Four with a level 50 something Butterfree and Furret, why do you ask?

Louie/Antoinette (Name depends on gender) the Jalorda: A BigEater with a french accent and an overall smug demeanor. Deathly afraid of Kirikizans ever since running into a particularly violent one.

Simon the Doryuuzu: He's usually quiet and introverted. However, in battle...

Hobbes the Ononokusu: He occasionally goes into a state of philosophical thought, even while battling. Has taken a liking to human women.

Trigger the Kirikizan: Headstrong and violent, he challenges others to fights at the slightest provocation and loses as much as he wins. Secretly wishes to go to the moon.

Ramses the Desukan: Doesn't really like battling much, and would rather write songs and sing. Activating his mummy ability causes a particularly horrible curse to play in someones head.

Arthur the Kojondo: A master at LeParkour after an incident that involved his fixation with straight lines. Has a tendency to freak out at times.

Me also. Here it is:

Aqua Ryu the Daikenki: His entire personality is based around LawfulGood. Swings into LawfulStupid at times, especially around Dark-types. When unevolved, he was kind of dumb.

Belkar the Ononokusu: KILL SMASH MURDER RIP GOUGE DISMEMBER. AND ANYONE WHO GETS IN THE WAY WILL TASTE MY DRAGO-BLADES.

Sarcophage the Desukan: Like a religious cult member, trying to spread "the pure good that is mummification".

Roy the Waruvial: The only one who can put Belkar in his place. He's a pretty average guy, actually, and pretty boring to talk to.

Dizzy the Kenhorou: Is very dizzy, hence the name. This really strikes when flying, causing him to falter and fall. Gets a lot of teasing, turning him into a DeadpanSnarker. Then, the trainer (me) taught him to make the dizzy spells into a fighting style, which cured the snark and made him the most confident and upbeat member of the team.

Vaarsuvius the Shibirudon: Very philosophical. Has this weird tic for ranged attacks, often refusing to learn any melee attacks.

Shesha the Jalorda: She is basically the Mama Snake of the group, she watches to make sure the others don't bite off more than they can chew.

Scruffy the Murando: BrilliantButLazy he is the most lazy one in the group, he usually spends most of his time "reading" or sleeping, however when it comes to anything major he's very realiable.

Aqua the Hiyakkie: Dispite many of her more violent tendencies she's most often the one to sloves most problems peacfully and thinks things through.

Yomi The Waruvial: He's the strongest of the group and always looks for a good fight and when he dose find one he can be particulary vicious.

Ao Run the Ononokus: TedBaxter at heart he is the one who gets into more battles than needed, however he is realiable at times.

J'onn J'onzz the Oobemu: TheSmartGuy and {{Cloudcuckoolander}} J'onn is by the smartest one out of anybody in the group, he communicates telepathically with the others, while most of his ramblings about legendaries and Poke Glitchs seem like nonsense to everyone else, he believes it will save thier lives some day.

This Troper has been planing Pokemon games since age 12, and has been a fan since age 10. Shockingly, I haven't given my team member's personalities, but I am writing a massive crossover fanfic within the Pokemon series

My very first Pokemon when I received my Red Version for Christmas in 1998 was a Charmander, and I have been so taken with Charizard and its pre-evolutions ever since that I have always found some way to get a Charmander at the beginning of each game, whether by breeding and trading the egg or by haxxoring the game. It actually just feels too strange if I try to play through a game without one. The main reason why I have not played anything since FR/LG is because there are game mechanics in place that prevent trading Pokemon from Kanto-based games from Emerald onward and I have no way to hack DS games.

Most recent team in Leaf Green: Charizard/Primeape/Raichu/Vaporeon/Snorlax/Kadabra (no way to trade except with my Ruby version, which doesn't happen until after most of the game is done)

Working on a game in Ruby, team planned as: Charizard/Swampert/Gardevoir/Manectric/Zangoose/Armaldo. Also my first time playing as a girl.

While I didn't read the whole page, I read about half and there's been a shit-ton of people naming all the teams they've ever had. Sure, while there are also the people who've bragged about a shit-ton of levelled Pokemon on one game, I couldn't find [=ANYone=] that did what I did with my Sapphire game--that is, I went through, defeated the E4, sometimes many many times to train, then traded my team to my sister's Ruby version; rinse and repeat. o3o Ah, well.

Also, Gold was totally my first video game in the history of evar. I had been hypothesizing Johto remakes basically since I saw Jasmine in Diamond, which couldn't have been too long after DP release date. I still think GSC was the best gen. So, when I heard the first news of HG/SS I squeed SO. HARD. Not just like "I'm excited!" I made the sound "SQUEEEEEE!!<333" ...or something like. I've made that sounds exactly two times in my memory: then, and after GETTING HG on release day (still in Color Guard show makeup, no less) and just...SQUEEEEEE<333.

Like many others on this page, I've given my HG team personalities, forming a Five Man Band:

Feraligatr Male: Lockjaw (The Hero) The decided leader of the team, and pretty hotheaded, despite his type. Often doesn't quite understand the consequences of his somewhat illogical thinking. He often 'leaps before he looks'.

Charizard Male: Yoshi (The Lancer) Recently immigrated from the past Kanto region. Often thinks things through, but still often has a deep-rooted desire to burn things.

Torterra Male: Akupara (The Big Guy) Immigrated from the Sinnoh region, Akupara often has a rough time adapting to the warmer climate of the Johto-Kanto area. Though often used for heavily straining tasks, he isn't quite as dumb as one might think.

Magnezone Omega (The Smart Guy) Being a robotic creature, Omega is the smartest of the bunch. Prefers to sit in the back during a battle, assessing enemy weak points, and relaying the info to his teammates. Is particularly fond of projectile attacks, a favorite being Flash Cannon.

Kirlia Female: Destiny (The Chick) Being impetuous and silly, Destiny is a rather inexperienced Pokemon compared to her teammates. Has had a deep-rooted crush on her trainer ever since he complimented her on being cute, and so wishes to never evolve.

Drapion Female: Nightfang (The Sixth Ranger) Nightfang kinda just appeared in the team one day. Even Omega is baffled as to how she arrived. She often applies strengthening Acupressure to her teammates, and then attacking with her mastery of the elemental fang attacks.

This troper has been a fan of Pokemon since she got Pokemon Yellow. Like most of the other tropers above her, she has also given her pokemon personalities. She has the other games but these are good enough:

Lapras (Gabrielle): '''The Lancer''' and '''Team Mom'''. Is very fun-loving and calm, even in a dire situation. Has taken over Amelia's role as team powerhouse. Forms a stalling duo w/ Lotus.

Granbull (Karen): '''The Big Guy'''. Is very rude and often likes to pick on Lotus and Gabrielle, but overall is very useful to her teammates with moves like Scary Face and Charm.

Magmar (Spitfire): '''The Smart Guy'''. Dislikes Karen's arrogant behavior and is no stranger to voicing it. Has a kind of morbid side in where he enjoys incinerating his enemies.

While playing Bloody Platinum(a hack), this Troper found out that Whynauts are {{Demonic Spiders}}. They '''always''' know when to use the right move to kill my Mons!

This troper is a bit crazy when it comes to this game. I use military tactics from TheArtOfWar in a pokemon battle. And I've developed the ability to figure out all type matchups, stats (rough estimation) and ability for my opponent upon looking at it no computer needed. I can figure out type matchups for type combos that don't even exist and for two ability pokemon I can figure it out within the first sign of one ability. Despite all this he avoids being one of those StopHavingFunGuys as he plays for enjoyment. This troper's flagship mon is Lucario.

This MTG-playing troper is playing through PKMN Diamond, and I have 7 badges. I've also got an elite-4-beaten save of Pokemon Emerald, which is my favourite pokemon game EVER. I have a particularly powerful Breloom called Mycoloth on it, who early on earned the nickname of "One-Punch Mike", due to his Mach Punch taking down just about anything it hit. I tend not to use moves that aren't super effective against the enemy except as finishers, and I try to keep a varied team at all times. My team right no on Diamond is:

Márton (Stromgald) the Medicham, currently my highest level 'Mon at 43. It has the all-star (natural!) moveset of Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Force Palm and Confusion. There were a couple of trips to Pastoria to get it right, may I add.

Jace (Beleren) the Lv.38 Kadabra, whose moveset is Psybeam, Confusion, Drain Punch and, I think, Recover. He's One of my favourites, but not as effective as Medicham. I may replace him with my Lv.40 Tentacruel, Gomazoa, who is so badass that he would take on a Kraken and win. Speaking of which, Tentacruel should evolve into Tentakraken.

(Commander) Eesha, a lv. 40 or so Staraptor, trained from a lv 3 or so Starly. He is currently taking a back seat to Márton in battles, but when Eesha hits the field, things die. He takes on the world with Fly, Aerial Ace, Close Combat and Steel Wing.

Vengevine the Torterra, a level ~40 'mon who is really just backup in case of bad matchups. He brings with him Earthquake, Bite, Solarbeam and Razor Leaf. Funny how sometimes the starter can end up one of the weaker mons of your team. I might in fact replace him altogether with something more effective. Possibly my Haunter, named Iname. <3 the Haunter.

Jeska (Warrior Adept) the Lv.20-but-growing Riolu, who will probably end up a main player in my final party for the Elite 4. After becoming Lucario, of course.

And finally, Nighteyes (The Desecrator), resident HM slave. Rock Smash, Surf (will be replaced by Rock Climb), Strength and Cut. Currently at level 22, and probaby won't get any bigger.

This Troper had a CMOA while playing Diamond and didn't even know it until she went online weeks afterwards. I was facing Cynthia for the first time, and by the time she pulled out her Game Breaker Garchomp I only had an Empoleon left that was five levels weaker than it. So the Garchomp uses its move where it has to recharge the turn after (I apologise for not knowing the name of the damn move) and it takes my Empoleon's HP down to half. Two consecutive Ice Beams later and it was down. Now I laugh whenever I read about people complaining how it's such an impossibly hard Pokemon to beat.

This troper once found a shiny Wingull early in the game... So early, in fact, that he had no Pokeballs with which to catch it, prompting about five minutes of suicidal tendencies. A few gyms and an Elite Four later, I have a random encounter out at sea, only to find a shiny Pelipper.

This troper once found a shiny Tangela... in the Safari Zone. It ran away after the first ball, but to add insult to injury, I found and failed to catch a shiny Yanma in the Safari Zone only two weeks later. Fortunatly, my friend was nice enough to help me find them on the GTS.

This troper had something cool happen to her recently in [=SoulSilver=]. I had been grinding quite a bit before taking on the Elite Four but, even so, was considerably nervous. I paused at the last doorway before going in to make my customary save, and on a whim decided to turn to my lead Pokemon, Deiji the Feraligatr (named after an [=RP=] character of mine). The reply? A smiling bubble and "Deiji nodded slowly." Needless to say, that gave me quite enough courage to go in and take on Will and the rest. My team and I did alright until we reached Lance at the end, where the second cool thing happened. We were utterly ''slaughtered'' throughout the battle, although my foresight of buying as many [=HiPotions=] and Revives as I possibly could (an old habit of mine going back to Gen I) helped quite a bit. Finally we worked Lance down to his final two Pokemon, with his last Dragonite out. Unfortunately I was worn down to two Pokemon myself, Deiji and a Lapras named Bethie (which was kinda funny considering the character Deiji's daughter is named Bethie, but that's another story) who were both in low health. I threw out Deiji and healed him up, and the battle began. Dragonite began by spamming him with Outrage, which he took twice before I had to heal him again; liberal usage of Ice Fang during these turns took Dragonite down just as much. As Lance's Pokemon was gearing up for another Outrage I used my turn to have Deiji use Ice Fang again, and Dragonite went first. '''CRITICAL HIT''' I'm staring, horrified, at my DS as I pray out loud "Give me a little health, Deiji! Come on, you can do it! ''Just a little health!''" He was left with '''one hit point'''. Ice Fang hits, Dragonite goes down, and I breathe a sigh of relief until I realize Lance has one Pokemon left, and I didn't remember what it was. Thankfully it was that Charizard. I laughed, healed up Deiji, and was Champion a turn later.

Besides this, I too give my Pokemon personalities and craft out stories for them. My current team is as follows:

Aile the Pidgeot. TeamMom, and always ready to Fly me wherever I need to go. Can occasionally make rash decisions, but generally has a level head. She prefers not to fight, instead being a support unit. Level 40 as of my latest point in Cerulean City.

Napalm the Golem (since Golem can know [=SelfDestruct=] and... yeah). Loves to fight, and is quicker than you might expect him to be thanks to liberal usage of Rollout (and the Quick Claw he holds). Gets along well with Deiji despite type differences. Has a strange fascination with using Earthquake in buildings because he likes the way it rumbles around him, despite the fact this naturally scares everybody occupying said building. Currently level 42.

Bass the Mewtwo (why yes, I have an Action Replay, what of it?). Somewhat of a stoic Pokemon, but utterly devoted to my trainer self after having been given to me at level 3 from another girl who found him by the side of the road (aka caught in the grass in my Diamond game and traded over). Has a personal vendetta against Team Rocket after catching wind of the horrors another Mewtwo (the one you find in Cerulean Cave) had gone through, but now has a bit of an identity issue thanks to the other Mewtwo's existence. Currently level 40.

Serena the Dragonair, also named after an [=RP=] character of mine. Though she too prefers not to fight just like Aile (through this they get along quite well) she knows she must, if only to stop thugs like Team Rocket. Since coming across Lance she looks up to him a lot, ever since he made a positive comment about her involvement during the Lake of Rage incident back when she was a Dratini (Serena was my walking Pokemon at the time, and I imagined a comment from Lance upon seeing the little dragonling; yes I add to the story too). Currently level 40.

Bethie the Lapras. The youngest one in the group, hatched from an egg bred by the Lapras I owned in my previous file, named X (can you tell I'm a Megaman fan by now?). Often gets in over her own head, and needs rescuing by one of the other Pokemon in the team. She wants to live up to X's record of being a star battler and so goes after every foe she can, regardless of whether she should or not. Currently level 39.

Deiji the Feraligatr, my longest partner and most tenacious fighter. His capricious nature lets him get along well with Napalm, and they make a good Double Battle team. Has a touch of darkness in him (just as his namesake does) with moves like Crunch and Shadow Claw, but after considerable practice he uses this well to his advantage. At the end of the day there's nothing better he likes to do than unwind by swimming with Bethie in the nearest body of water. Currently level 40.

This troper has a dream team planned for Black and White. There are some typematching issues, but they're my favorite Pokemon anyway.

A male Enobuoh named Len. He's fairly quiet but enjoys battling. He's extremely loyal to his friends. (Yes he's named after a Vocaloid, why do you ask?)

A male Rankurusu named Tucker. He doesn't battle much, but when he does he gives it his all.

An Electrode named Cleo. It (damn you genderlessness) is very smart and spends lots of time devising new strategies.

A female Dunsparce named Meiko. Very boisterous and outgoing, but has a motherly side. The "big sister" of the group. (I like Vocaloid, okay?!)

A female Scizor named Silky (referring to her inner personality). A textbook Kuudere who doesn't like battling much and gets a bit offended when people assume she loves it because of her species.

A male Kirikizan named Sam. Pretty nice most of the time, but when he gets mad he kind of loses control. His comrades are very careful not to anger him, because he may attack them. He always feels very guilty after these episodes. Has a bit of a friendly rivalry with Tucker.

I've all the games, but I constantly restart them. The only game that is immune to it is Pearl and [=HeartGold=], for very different reasons. I just really love my [=HeartGold=] team - Typhlosion (Shadowfire), Ambipom (Dex), Leafeon (Eon), and Starmie (Neptune). It was supposed to be a six Pokemon team, but I dropped off Mismagius (and something else...). Pearl, on the other hand, is my main game. My team is Luxray (Leo), Lucario (Kai), Mr. Mime (Ms. Mime), Golduck (Quackers), Rapidash (Pyrios), and Torterra (Ankylo). I have a living Pokedex on Pearl (for those that don't know, that means I have every evolutionary stage of every Pokemon. A Bulbasaur, followed by an Ivysaur, etc. all the way to Arceus). Well, technically that isn't true - I still lack four. Celebi, Manaphy, Darkrai, and Deoxys. But that's it. For my other games, I can't decide on teams...

This troper wants these games. A whole freakin' lot. She does not care which she gets, but would really prefer either [=SoulSilver=] (despite the awful name) or Platinum. So far, this tropers parents have refused to buy her anything else she could potentially waste her life with. Maybe for Christmas... >_<

An Ampharos named Spoons (that I have grown immensely fond of since catching it as a Mareep in HG) (also female)

This Troper also had a CrowningMomentOfAwesome when she finally caught her Deoxys... in Emerald.

This Troper beat Red on his first try in [=HeartGold=], even though his Pokémon were 20-28 levels higher than mine. My team consisted of Rhyperior, Typhlosion, Porygon-Z, Espeon, Heracross, and the red Gyarados, ranging from 60-64. So much for the Pokémon Master.

Also, when my Espeon was an Eevee, it caught a Pokérus. A few hours after that, I encountered Raikou for the first time. My Pokémon were way slower at the time, and it'd run away right away. Then I said to myself "Who knows? Maybe I'll get lucky.", then I threw a Fast Ball at it. Even though it was at full health, had no status infliction, and a very low chance of getting captured, I DID get lucky. It actually got captured instead of breaking out. I doubt that's ever going to happen to me again.

Just beat Red on my first try again, this time with a much lower leveled team. It consisted of Garchomp, Metagross, Tyranitar, Togekiss, Porygon-Z, and Starmie, ranging from 55-58. It took me 30 minutes and I had to use 5 revives and more than 10 Full Restores. Nonetheless, I think this counts as a CrowningMomentOfAwesome for my team.

First time I went through the Elite Four in Generation 1, had a level 80-something Charizard. Finally got to my rival and beat his pokemon down. All I had left was the original Charizard against his Blastoise... I only had one Fire Blast attack left before I had to Struggle. Managed to One-Hit kill the Blastoise with the Fire Blast and beat my rival. Seriously didn't expect that at all. Since then I've been careful to grind psychic and ghost types so I have few weaknesses. Ruby/Sapphire usually has me grinding the first area for a horde of Ralts. Takes forever to do, but worth it. That and it's something to do when waiting for laundry at College.

This Troper had an two incredably lucky encounters at the foot of Mt Silver in [=HeartGold=]. While wandering through some grass, I encountered a shiny Ponyta. This was my first shiny I personally had encountered, an caught it with out much trouble. I then wandered back to the pokemon center to check on it (it was only a few feet away so I didn't need to fly) Immediately afterwards, the first pokemon I encountered was ''another shiny Ponyta.'' That's right, I encountered (and caught) two shiny pokemon in a row! I decided to nickname them Shinyta and Replyca respectively. So far, they have been the only shiny pokemon I've ever found.

I have, since my second time playing Yellow Version, named every Pokemon I've caught after a {{Digimon}}, going so far as to keep my 'mons from evolving until I reached Lavender Town so I could change their name to the next level of Digivolution. The tough part was trying to have one Pokemon per Digimon name. The only exceptions have been some of my teams and Arceus, as well as a Feraligator I got through trading called "MIKE CHAOS!"

Arceus, rather than a Digimon's name, was Yggdrasil, the name of the Digital World's core.

My Diamond/Platinum team was the "Titans:" Speed Titan (Arcanine), Shadow Titan (Misdreavus), Song Titan (Clefable), Storm Titan (Electivire), Sky Titan (Salamence), and Sea Titan (Starmie). In reserve, I had Shell Titan (Shuckle), Soul Titan (Dusknoir), and Sloth Titan (Slaking).

For [=HeartGold=], I used the "Monarchs:" Mobius (Kingdra), Kuraz (Gardevoir), Caius (Honchkrow), Zaborg (Rotom), Thestalos (Primeape), and Granmarg (Marowak). As a reserve, I had Raiza (Ninjask).

For my team of my six favourite Pokemon, we have: Dark (Darkrai), Shadow (Shiny Charizard), Sylvia (Shiny Ditto), Angela (Gardevoir), Lucas (Lucario), and Mobius (Kingdra).

After reviewing a few of the new Pokemon from Gen V, I have added Ononokus to this list, and s/he will be named "Apocalypse."

And for the upcoming White Version, I'll have the following (note that I came up with this before I knew anything about the games other than their names): Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Nabooru, Impa, and Rauru. My PC will also be named "Zelda." I'll also be abandoning the Digimon nomenclature due to the absurd number of Pokemon.

I only use 2-3 Pokemon, never nickname them and replay the games a lot.

I tend to get attached to my pokemon (or at least my core team: Empoleon, Crobat, Golem, Electivire, Weavile, and Houndoom) and give them personalities. Such as:

Empoleon: the proud leader who, though he rarely goes out in the field due to me forgetting his moves, is always ready to support everyone else.

Crobat: TheWoobie. He's patient and always goes out when I need someone to hold a place while I revivie someone else, he is steadfast and trustworthy and never lets me down.

Golem: Cross-gendered TeamMom. Golem stick up for the whole team and gets along with pokemon that are rotated in better than anyone else.

Electivire: The guy that always stands up to and usually defeats whatever I throw him at and is always surprising everyone with his HiddenDepths.

Weavile: Sweet but easily annoyed guy that knows how much rides on him and is always up to the challenge.

Houndoom: The weary but dependable support team that is tired of how often he gets rotated out but always performs well when called on.

And then I have the CoolOldGuy[=/=]BadassGrandpa Alakazam that tends to rotate it for Houndoom, and my Gengar, who I'm still developing.

This is my [=HeartGold=] team:

Steelix: The BigEater, but if there's trouble, he'll hold food off til the job's done.

Bellossom: She's the CuteBruiser; witnessing Feraligatr and Darkrai's spats inspired her to become tougher by herself when I'm not busy leveling her up.

Latias: One of two legendaries on my journey (the others I put in the PC box...it's suspended animation, they'll live forever that way), known as the Woobie due to losing her brother, Latios, to another trainer, who was abusive. And she would've had the same treatment had I not come along to give her a better home. But one day, we're going to find this trainer and force him to give up Latios.

Darkrai: The other of two legendaries. Is careful not to give me nightmares when I'm asleep. Has constant fights with Feraligatr for my attention on strength, but me, I think both are strong enough as it is.

Feraligatr: As my starter from Johto, he's easily filled with nostalgia when we come back to visit from the other regions; is fighting Darkrai constantly due to wanting my attention as it believes I favor the Dark-type more.

Rapidash: A shiny Pokemon captured on my birthday, he believes in justice and will leave a trail of hellfire behind to destroy evil...okay, he THINKS he's leaving fire behind.

This troper's team on [=SoulSilver=] is:

Typhlosion: Nicknamed "Happy" but will change it soon due to the OneSteveLimit; currently level 84.

Electivire: Obtained via event, no nickname; currently level 54.

Jirachi: Obtained via event, no nickname; currently around level 50.

Staraptor: Nicknamed "Pwnly" and is my HM slave; currently around level 38.

Two HM slaves which generally rotate.

This troper has an all-Pichu team on her Pearl version. Through an Action Replay, they're all level 100. Cute badassery FTW!

You had to use an AR to get to level 100?

This troper has 999:59 on Sapphire and over 200 hours apiece on Diamond and Platinum. And a full team of legit English level 100 Deoxys, one of each forme. Plus a spare Japanese Normal Forme Shiny Deoxys. Also legit. (Keep in mind that I have no access to the GTS.)

This troper loves to give his Pokemon names and personalities, for instance on his [=SoulSilver=] team he's got:

A male Typhlosion named Pyro, who is rather aloof, but kindhearted.

A male Salamence named Toothless, brash and outgoing, and in love with Earthia.

This troper tends to rotate his team to include Pokemon that he has never used before. His original Heartgold team was:

Scizor/ ChicagoTed The honorable but stoic swordsman. His cold exterior is used to hid the fact that he has never had someone to love him before me, and he is afraid that by showing emotion, he will disgrace his species. Once evolved, he got over his feelings and became an outright deathdealer. He uses his speed to do moves like X-Scissor, Steel Wing, and Agility.

Typhosion/ Ellis A loyal but cold hearted fellow who loves me to death because I gave him max EVs through intense training. He despises everyone who I despise. I was originally quite negative about his Fire-typing, but I grew to love him. He uses powerful cindering techniques such as Eruption, Flamthrower, and Rock Climb.

Espeon/ Socrates The brains behind our operation. Socrates has the most in common with me mentally, and we both have a plan about each upcoming battle. His weak point is his head, because he never learned confusion, so I was forced to teach him Headbutt. He uses his mind to perform such moves as Psybeam, Psychic, and Shadowball.

Starmie My former team member before I beat the Elite Four, she had perfect Evs and Ivs, but she grew to have quite a bit of an ego and overshadowed the rest of my team because she defeated Lance all by herself. I stored her in my PC, but she has grown to hate and despise me through her stay in there. My team fears her return. She used high-damage moves like Blizzard, Surf, and Psychic.

Omastar/ Nicole The nervous and erratic replacement for Starmie, Nicole doesn't believe in her skills and thus causes the rest of my team a headache when she chooses to hide in her shell. But she is potentially the most powerful Pokemon on my team, if she applied herself. She is deeply interested in Typhosion, but he shuns her frivolous and awkward advances toward him. She used high damage special moves like Surf, Ancient Power, and Brine.

Fearow/ Roxanne The powerful flying type that my team wished they could aspire be, Roxy loves them deeply but is beset by her idea that if she has too many close relationships, they will ground her and she won't have a free and noble spirit anymore. She is very aloof, but when provoked, she will go into a blind fury attack that will not stop until she is incapacitated. She uses fast and powerful physical moves to eliminate the competition, like Drill Peck, and Agility.

Garchomp/ Grimlock Grim is the new kid on my team, as he traveled from a mysterious region, and everyone else sees him as such. An outsider, he wishes to show the rest of my team his power, but he is very clumsy and prone to fits of silent depression. I try to comfort him, but he prefers to focus on his training, so that he may one day show the rest of my team his ultimate strength. He used risky moves suck as Dragon Rush, Draco Meteor, and Dig.

This troper makes a point to have all of her pokemon as females (with the logical exception of the genderless ones and the ones whose chance of a female gender is inhumanly low). Probably because she needs rolemodels...

By this point you have noticed that I like Jolteon. A LOT. And that I always choose the fire starter. When I was younger I preferred the water starters. I guess my Charizard-crazy friend rubbed off on me. I also avoid grass starters like the plague, since grass types tend to die on me easily. I do not intend to change this trend with Smugleaf.

Figured I might as well get in on the trend with my teams here. In Platinum, we have:

Empoleon: He's badass in battle with that type combination, but is kind of a derp and prone to losing track of what he's doing everywhere else. About as organized as a kindergartener. He's {[The Hero}}, though not exactly aware of this, though everyone still respects him. {{Like Brother and Sister}} with Flareon.

Flareon: Aside from being the obligatory Eeveelution and my source of {{Kill it with Fire}}, she's generally the one who keeps Empoleon's head on straight without being overbearing. Vehemently idolizes both Luxray and Floatzel. {{Like Brother and Sister}} with Empoleon.

Drifblim: He's a playful trickster sort, but very calculating beneath that exterior. He harbours more than a bit of cynicism because of the whole {{Dark is Evil}} stigma that surrounds ghosts, but overall, isn't a bad guy. Also a {{Stone Wall}} to Luxray for double battles.

Luxray: Resident badass, though she's a bit of a {{Glass Cannon}}. Doubles as the {{Cool Big Sis}} for pretty much the entire team. She and Drifblim are particularly close.

Floatzel: Peripherally upbeat, pretty much nothing fazes her and she takes the world in stride. Making her angry takes a lot of effort, but is probably kind of stupid. Is a {{Fragile Speedster}}, with emphasis on the "Speedster", of which she's quite proud. She and Gallade are actually a case of {{UnrequitedLoveSwitcharoo}}, as she has feelings for him as well.

Gallade: In his first two stages, he was the total {{Butt Monkey}} in fights, but {{Took A Level in Badass}} when he evolved. He still retains his intellectual slant, and is a bit of a self-styled {{Knight in Shining Armour}} with emphasis on the chivalry, though some of that may be because he's Not Good With Pokemon. Has a bit of a crush on Floatzel, who is completely oblivious.

This troper's sister caught a shiny Golbat on Sapphire. She refused to trade it over before restarting her game because "Golbat's stupid."

WHATBUT... CROBAT!

My sister also caught a shiny Golbat in Emerald, and then it evolved into Crobat. It was later one of the Pokemon she beat the Elite 4 with. (Along with Swellow and Sceptile)

Rex, a Typhlosion. Extremely {{Badass}}, {{Team Dad}}, {{The Hero}}, {{Papa Wolf}} (Many cyndaquils. One of his daughters had an affair with a zangoose, ended with some Crush Claw Cyndaquils and deep scars.) {{Heterosexual Life Partners}} with Bandit, (somewhat) Raptor, and, of course, Heart (My avatar's Character). When he gets mad or goes on Papa Bear mode, expect a lot of {{Kill It With Fire}}. A LOT.

Raptor, a Pidgeot. {{Straight Gay}}, {{The Chick}}, really gentle, except in a fight. Gets a lo of stress from some more creul pokemon, making him a {{Woobie}}. He has a crush on...

Bandit, a Nidorano/king. {{Casanova}}, {{The Lancer}}, He's got a sharp tounge and an eye for the ladies. {{Vitrioloc Best Buds}} with Rex.

Big Red, a Gyarados. {{The Big Guy}}, also {{Badass}}. He had... Problems. Y'know, what with team rocket screwing with his life and all. He's got a bit of a temper.

Dogfan, a Donphan. Named so cuz' some kid said that was how Donphan was pronounced. He's really a joke, but he pops up randomy. {{Cloud Cuckoo Lander}}

A Ditto. Used for breeding. (I'm really a Breeder and Pokeathlete in HG.) I was horrified when I discovered his nature: Naughty. What HAVE I been putting these pokemon through..

Muk. She's {{crazy prepared}}, and is a struggling pokeathlete. She's a bit feminist, which has a habit in gettinger her in some bad situations. (She's severly underleveled)

Aggron. He's {{Dumb Muscle}}, and is fluent in {{Hulk Speak}}. He has a habit of rearranging mountians when ticked. A brick wall, and- AGGRON LAUGH AT PUNY EXPLOSION! HUWHA! HUWHA! HUWHA!- He's in training, along with:

Pupitar. Noone really knows her personality, what with her being a cocoon and all. Is a bit {{Badass}} (Yeah, I have a lot of those.)

Rexito. Rex's son (And one of the only two he talks to. The others are for trading, but he's protective of all of them.) also the Favoritism}} Favorite

Mew, recieved in a trade. Girl}} Genki...Thing. Has some {{Mary Sue}} Traits, {{Black Hole Sue}} to be specific, like everyone fawning over him. Her. It.

Don, my Torterra. The Lancer, but he's fine with that. Rather dumb, but quite strong. He usuly provides transportation (he's larger than avrege), and is really a {{Gentle Giant}}

Chatot. The one you get in a trade. Really a FlatCharacter, he just repeats stuff. Noone knows what goes on in his mind...

Well, I'm gonna try to avoid clogging the page, so I won't go through all my teams in one shot. I've been playing Yellow recently after having an uncharacteristic hankering for the old days, and perhaps one day I will draw a comic based on this run. Part of this is the rather odd group of characters I came up with based on my team, which consists of:

Vimes the Sandslash, TheHero. For a ''long'' time was the BadassNormal since he had no moves other than Scratch and Slash (first-gen learnsets for the lose). Despite that, his high crit ratio meant he was taking down Onixes and Gravelers with ease, and taught him to rely on his own natural ability rather than just high-powered moves. Is somewhat of a more optimistic version of the Discworld character he's named for, and once went into a rampage where he shouted "THAT! IS!! NOT!!! MY!!!! TAUROS!!!!!"

Gideon the Fearow, TheLancer. Naturally a BigBadassBirdOfPrey, and was a vital team member since his capture and subsequent evolution. He and Vimes are the two longest-serving team members, and strong friends. He has a more calculated mind to counter Vimes' hotbloodedness, though their lack of fancy elemental moves for most of their tenures means they're exceptionally strong for their species.

Lelouch the Venomoth. TheSmartGuy, and as one could guess, a LargeHam. Not that great at physical combat but excels with Psychic moves and status effects. Wasn't very useful at all initially, until he learned Confusion, and then finally managed to pull his weight upon evolution. Due to type mechanics in the first generation, his Leech Life is wonderfully useful against Kanto's many Poison and Grass types.

Churchill the Snorlax- also TheBigGuy. Like his namesake, often depicted with glasses and a cigar. Nice enough to his friends, but ''not'' a GentleGiant- more of a DeadpanSnarker like the real Winston, whom he has a tendency of quoting. Strong as he is, he doesn't need silly tactics... his moves are either squash them under his weight or zap 'em with Thunderbolt.

Axel the Flareon, and by process of elimination, TheChick- but don't let him hear you say it. Started out as a quiet, innocent Eevee, until he was immediately evolved via Fire Stone and went mad with the ''PHENOMENAL COSMIC FIREPOWER''- until he realized he didn't have any Fire moves, and wouldn't for a while. He made do with Bite and Quick Attack, and grew stronger but less crazy from the humility of not even having something like Ember. Finally, he learned Fire Spin, which he was willing to accept and made the most of it. Although "BURN EVERYTHING" isn't his modus operandi anymore, he's still got a wild range of mood swings.

Starlock the Omastar, the vaunted SixthRanger. Carried with the team since he was a fossil, which would technically make him the third team member in terms of chronology. Was revived at Cinnabar where he was accepted into the team and immediately taught Ice Beam and Surf, with which he proved his worth by leading the final battle against the Rockets, though he didn't evolve until fighting Saffron Gym. Later was taught Horn Drill, as it was figured that anything badass enough to be the Spiral Pokemon ought to have his own take on the Giga Drill Break. Might have cause the other team members to be OvershadowedByAwesome had they not learned moves to complement their own natural strength, like Vimes getting Earthquake and Swift or Gideon getting Drill Peck. Although he still isn't fully integrated into the team dynamic, they admit that there isn't much bad to say about him.

This troper recently beat the Elite 4 in Pearl with a severely underleveled team using strategy and spamming items, only one of them was over level 50, but one of them reached level 50 during the battle with Cynthia. His team upon being registered in the Hall of Fame:

Sun Wukong the Infernape (male)Lv. 53- TheHero and TheBigGuy, an all-around powerhouse with a fiery passion for battle. Enjoys going head to head with other Fighting types. A StraightGay who loves to be hugged by his trainer (but not in that way).

TuxedoMask the Roserade (male)Lv. 46- TheSmartGuy, lacking in power but his Toxic Spikes and Stun Spore played a vital role in our battles. Slightly flamboyant, but 100% straight.

Floatzel (no name)(female)Lv. 46- TheChick, a LightningBruiser that can devestate any Pokemon it has a type advantage over. Loves to relax at the Verity Lakefront. Has a daughter named Melissa.

Carmilla the Crobat (female)Lv. 46- Almost a SixthRanger, but more of a combination of Non Action Girl and TheSmartGuy. Doesn't usually battle, but can hold her own when necessary. Likes to be pampered, loves to fly her trainer around, and might have a crush on this troper.

ThunderCat the Luxray (male)Lv. 48- TheLancer, aloof but genuinely cares about his team mates. The first to be added to the team after Sun Wukong. Mated to Floatzel, and proud father of Melissa. Has been teasingly hit on by Sun Wukong.

Golem (no name)(male) Lv. 50- The SixthRanger, a stoic Pokemon obtained in a trade shortly before traveling through Victory Road. Mostly a reserve Pokemon, but he did defeat a few Pokemon by himself. Was this troper's last standing pokemon against Cynthia's Garchomp; he landed the final blow, growing to level 50 in the process, and earning the respect of his team mates.

Does anyone else only train a specific type ala the Gym Leaders, Elite 4, and some NPC Trainer classes? I'm currently doing a run of SoulSilver only using Dark types (my "adoptive starter" was a Houndour, now evolved), and I have to say, it's pretty cool to get so in-depth on a type's weaknesses and strengths.

This Troper would like to tell you all about her experience with Pokemon. When I first got Pokemon Red, I instantly fell in love with it, especially my Wartortle, whom I named Ringleader. I built up a decent team, got a Mew once I learnt about the trick, and generally loved the game. I then got Crystal, making up a decent team based off Pokemon that I liked, especially my Meganium, Chikito. I then lost my copy of Red AND my Game Boy. I got Pokemon Sapphire, and figured, hey, it's okay, I still have Killer (Swampert) and Chikito! Only I didn't. Crystal died on me (save file got wiped, couldn't save), and then I lost Sapphire, Fire Red AND my Game Boy SP! Cursing my luck, I got a DS and Pearl. Pearl survived long enough for me to get Platinum - ''but then I lost Pearl''. When I got Heart Gold, something snapped inside me. I didn't just resurrect Chikito and his pals, oh no. I used trading and catching to restore all of my OTHER teams. Ringleader? Got him back ''shiny''. Killer? Currently a Marshtomp. Every other Pokemon? Alive and kcicking (minus my Mew). That was heartwarming enough (especially when Ringleader hatched), but then? ''I found Pokemon Red and my Game Boy''. Oh, did I mention that I also found Sapphire, and made a new team, which I then got onto HG? My Pokemon White file is going to be epic to the nth degree - I'm transferring over ''eighty-five Pokemon'', including ''seventeen legendaries''. I could never let Pokemon go, ever. People tease me for liking it, for bringing a PokeWalker to school, and for saving up for White - but it's part of my life, part of my childhood, and I am ''never'' quitting it, ''ever''.

OP again. Firstly, thank you person who applauded me on my obsession. Secondly, I was right - my White came is ''unbelievably'' epic (Hi Cynthia! Wanna have a battle against three level one hundreds, one Mewtwo, and a couple of other awesome Pokemon?). Thirdly, I've become the mentor of a new Pokeaddict - my cousin Mely. I helped her buy a copy of Black, and now she's obsessed. She asks me loads of stuff. For example, she once asked me if her Pawniard was glitched - ''IT WAS A FUCKING SHINY.''

This Troper has recently restarted her old and still-working Pokemon Silver, and since Silver was her Pokemon game which holds the most fond memories for her, and for her recent games she has finally started attributing personalities and nicknames to her Pokemon, she has found the personalities of her current (and very beloved) team working out in this order -

A female Typhlosion named Horo, who is the HotBlooded ActionGirl ActionGirl with NervesOfSteel. She never hesitates to throw herself into battle against a wide variety of opponents, being CrazyPrepared with Flamethrower, Thunderpunch and Earthquake. Is HeterosexualLifePartners with Jagara, and understands the battle-torn Pidgeot's emotions more than anyone else on the team.

Astrid the Nidoqueen, the TeamMom and MamaBear of the team, who is fiercely protective of the team and will stand up to any threat, no matter how big, until she goes down in the face of protecting the others. If you hurt any members of the team, you've most definitely pressed her BerserkButton and you can only have an Earthquake or Dynamicpunch coming your way. However, she is also a BruiserWithASoftCenter and is very gentle and kind when the team is not being threatened.

Jagara the female Pidgeot, the LadyOfWar and KnightInSourArmor, a cynical DeadpanSnarker, and rightfully so. Her past is shrouded in much mystery but it is speculated she suffered at the hands of an AxCrazy, abusive trainer. Serves as the LightningBruiser of the team and, despite her cynical attitude, is more than willing to take her trainer to any venture he may need. Is HeterosexualLifePartners with Horo, but unbeknownst to all, has a crush on her partner.

Gakupo the male Espeon, (who was indeed named after the {{Vocaloid}}), the BadassBookworm and the TheSmartGuy whose arsenal of moves revolve around PsychicPowers. Despite being TheQuietOne, he has his moments where, since he is the only male on the team, he is very much a ChivalrousPervert. Is lovers with the as-of-yet untrained shiny Vaporeon, Luka, and hopes for her to make it on the team some day.

Luminaria the female Ampharos, the BadassAdorable GenkiGirl that sometimes dips into the AnnoyingYoungerSibling territory. The youngest and most innocent of the group, she has yet to see the harshest of battles like the rest of the team, but, despite this, is willing to face any new situation with vigor, regardless of what she may face. Her movepool is lacking, but she still hits with a hard Thunderpunch that sends foes reeling.

Nemesis the female Gyarados, the JerkWithAHeartOfGold but also the CoolBigSis to the most of the team. She is also TheStoic in the face of danger, but has a HairTriggerTemper that can send her on a Hydro Pump and Hyper Beam blasting rage. Considers herself superior to the resident shiny HM slave, Red (the shiny Gyarados) and is much of a JerkAss to him, but since he spends so little time on the team, she keeps her cynicism about him to herself.

Also, currently in training is Luka the shiny female Vaporeon (also named after the {{Vocaloid}}), who, once trained, will be capable of being swapped in Nemesis' position. TallDarkAndBishoujo and TheStoic, no danger can faze her. She will willingly stand head-on to a Hyper Beam or Thunder, even if it kills her in the process. Her sheer impassiveness in addition to her aptitude for keeping the resident ChivalrousPervert in check is what drew her and Gakupo together, and she longs for the day when they will both face down foes on the same team.

Pearl and HeartGold. I bawled when I got my Eevees. Why? When I lived with my Da he...*shaky breath* He DESTROYED my Nakama! YOU BASTARDILOVEDTHEMI..I...Kurai and his newly hatched son...THEY'RE NOT DATA, THEY WERE MINE!They were ''mine''. *collapses, wailing*

I always build a team with the following rules:

1) No two pokemon on my team can share a type.

2) I must be able to super effectively hit every type.

3) Each pokemon must have a STAB attack of both their types (though I do use single type pokemon.

4) I must have a Pokemon that can learn Fly.

5) I cannot use the same pokemon twice in different run-throughs (the exceptions are the starters, since I always use them).

These aren't even rules that use as a challenge or anything, it's just how I like to play the game. I always struggle trying to find a decent Fire or Electric type that I've never used though. When I get bored, I trade all my pokemon to whichever game I'm not using at the moment (I have Heart Gold and Platinum) and then I start a new game. Currently, the pokemon that I have sitting in my box in Heart Gold are: Magmortar, Houndoom, Flareon, Infernape, Typhlosion, Feraligator, Tentacruel, Empoleon, Gastrodon, Togekiss, Drapion, Skarmory, Giratina, Froslass, Abomasnow, Forretress, Heracross, Rotom, Honchkrow, Jolteon, Leafeon, Alakazam, Golem, Jirachi, Yanmega, and Ampharos. I probably have more too, these are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

Having now played more games, I (the troper earlier with the Typhlosion named Iroh) have more Five Man Bands with my teams.

Leaf Green

TheHero: Radagast (Kadabra). Acts as commanding officer to the others. Also something of TheAce, as his propensity to spam Teleport in battle tends to make my other teams jealous, and his trainer something of a jackass. However, this ability of his enabled him to single-handedly take down The Arbiter (My cousins and I play weird games like that)

TheLancer: Rana (Poliwrath). In true Lancer fashion, prefers to go in with fists swinging (whereas Radagast prefers to analyze the situation before acting). Largely only puts up with Radagast due to their typing.

TheBigGuy: Plantile (Venusaur). A big, lovable oaf who enjoys having his head scratched...and can slice through armor with his leaves.

TheSmartGuy and TheChick are juggled between Edna (Nidoqueen) and Hephaestos (Flareon). Edna serves as the TeamMom, due in no small part to her being the only female on the team. However, knowing her eventual transformation into a ground type, insisted on learning Shock Wave as soon as the TM was available. Hephaestos, meanwhile, is small and slow, and thus doesn't see much combat. However, he is also very analytical, and spends long hours studying things, long after even Radagast has gone to sleep.

TheSixthRanger: Hammerfall (Aerodactyl). One part DeadpanSnarker, one part flying tank. Close friends with Rana, due to their mutual dislike of Radagast, who is almost as much of a douche as their trainer.

Pearl

TheHero: Admiral (Empoleon). Usually TheStoic. However, if you do manage to piss him off, well...he knows Shadow Claw and Steel Wing, and isn't averse to using both at the same time.

TheLancer: Blitz (Rapidash). So far, my only fire-type to actually live up to the hot-headed stereotype. Was the first to react to Flora's attack (see below)

TheSmartGuy: Vlad (Crobat), although he would prefer to think of himself as TheEvilGenius. Has extremely acute senses, and is thus the first one to be aware of anything that's happening. Was the first Crobat to discover that his species is capable of folding up their wings and walking on their knuckles like a pterodactyl.

TheBigGuy: Hydrophobe (Hippowdon). He's an Earthbending hippo. What else would he be? His philosophy on problem solving is "if it can't be fixed by throwing rocks at/biting it, it's someone else's problem."

TheChick: Maestro (Kricketune). The most physically weak of my team (although he is fond of reminding anyone who can speak Pokemon that he shrugged off a Psychic from Lucian's Alakazam and then took it down in one hit). Would much rather be a musician, but can't stand to be apart from his {{Nakama}}.

TheSixthRanger: Okay, here's what happened (in my imagination). For a long time, the sixth slot was filled by Flora, a Roserade who had been with the team since very early in the game, when she was just a Budew. However, on the way through Mt. Mortar towards Snowpoint City, we ran into a member of Team Galactic who sicced his Skuntank on us. Flora took the full blast of the Flamethrower. The rest of the team was quick to retaliate, but it was too late to save her. We buried her there and pressed on. Later, as we made camp along Route 216, a frightened yet curious Snover ambled over to our campsite. That's the in-universe story for how Boreas the Abomasnow joined the team. The others held some resentment towards him for a while for not being Flora, but his truly epic destruction of a full half of Cynthia's team cemented his place on the roster.

This troper is currently working on building teams of various themes. Right now I'm working on a "dark-themed" team (i.e., something akin to Silver's team). I'm planning to make it consist of Feraligatr, Honchkrow, Magmar, Victreebel, Jynx, and . Then on my next run I might swap Feraligatr for Tentacruel and Typhlosion for Magmar. Later I might do a "cute" themed team wherein I use a team of Clefable/Hitmontop, Sunflora, Dewgong, Nidoqueen, Ninetails, and Togekiss.

This troper's been with the series since Gen I and has recently decided to rerun Platinum while making it the first run where he disregards his starter and to try a team consisting of Pokemon that he's never tried to use seriously. As such, here's his Five Man Band.

Thorn (Roserade): The Hero(ine), tends to act as the only sane one of the team and joins her trainer in finding some degree of amusement in the antics of the rest of the team. In battle though, she uses her poison nature to the extreme while constantly regaining health. Her biggest weakness though is that she can get a little reckless, not really caring about types.

Faraday (Luxray): The Lancer, enjoys sleeping when the team is taking a break, was one of the original three team members alongside Thorn and Slippy. Keeps the younger team members in line, which would be good if he didn't have a tendency to get angry very quickly. During battle, takes precautions to try and reduce the foe's attacking chances through Paralysis and flinching. He enjoys a good challenge, but as mentioned before, gets angry quickly, so frequently known among the team for being rather merciless.

Slippy (Gastrodon): The Chick, one of the original three team members with Thorn and Faraday. While not really a powerhouse on the team, she is skilled in water attacks and ground attacks to the point where she's dangerous in her own right. Also quite the glutton. While Faraday keeps the remaining team members in line, she keeps him in line because she can take his electric attacks and calm him down again.

Cottonbud (Altaria): The youngest member of the team, he tends to be misled easily and enjoys having fun in battle. While not the strongest on the team when it comes to offense (in fact it's what he's worst at) he makes up for it by being one of the fastest on the team (Behind Thorn and Helios, who are joint top on the team.) but unlike them, he can boost his speed even higher, and his Dragon Type nature grants him a resistance to three of the most commonly used types. Has a big Sweet Tooth.

Ramsey (Rampardos): The largest member of the team, he's about half a foot taller than most members of his kind, due to a bit of a mixup when being restored from his fossil. Tends to be the All-out offensive member of the team, his only non offensive attack being Stealth Rock. Never afraid to get involved in a fight.

Helios (Rapidash): While Cottonbud is the youngest member of the team, Helios is the newest. Tends to rush into things without thinking them through. He has a crippling fear of water due to getting caught in a flood as a Ponyta, to the point where he refuses to battle near large bodies of water. Enjoys running. Is the most frequent target of Faraday's 'lessons' due to the two not really liking each other.

Main Black:

Scrappy the Victini: Far from TheScrappy as his name might indicate (FYI; it came from a little joke where I yelled "YATATATA-TA-TATA! VICTINIIIIIII POWERRRRRRR!" upon catching him) he took leadership of the team despite being underlevelled and knows powerful moves such as Searing Shot, Thunder, Shadow Ball and Psychic and does well to lead the team to victory over and over again. He is very calm and cool no matter what the situation and acts as a role model to all my Pokemon.

Fry the Slowking: A holdover from my Soul Silver, Fry holds the position of my favourite Pokemon and second-in-command of the team. I imagine him to be capable of human speech and he has a perfect British accent (like the inspiration for his name, {{Stephen Fry}}). He may not be half as fast as Scrappy or Andy but he's very bulky and powerful, even more so with Calm Mind. He has a happy, cheeky personality and he loves cherry sweets and tea.

Andy the Jolteon: A complete clown and loveable coward/pervert. Acts as #3 to Scrappy and Fry. Is prone to getting his team-mates into trouble by mouthing off and then running off.

Sparrow the Weavile: My dragon-murderer. Often the best partner for Frieda even though they hate each other. He is grumpy and lazy but also likes to have fun and loves to fight. He lost an ear in a battle.

Arturo the shiny Terrakion: The newest member of the team. I was lucky enough to find him after 3400 soft-resets and he's doing his best to fit in. He hasn't found his feet among my veterans but he stays cheerful and hardy no matter what and trains very hard indeed.

Frieda the Flygon: A grumpy, anti-social, huge old Flygon. I imagine her to have red horns and very dark green skin. She lives to protect her team and her trainer. She hates other dragons and often goes into a berserker rage if she has to fight them. She was raised with Fry and he's the only other Pokemon she has a soft spot for.

Shiny 1: Blaziken (Ardeth), Manectric (Matt), Suicune (Kazegami), Metagross (Cyber), Lucario (Astrid), Dragonite (Gaia).

Shiny 2: Charizard (Azi), Luxray (Nala), Slowking (Zelda), Hitmonchan (Ace), Mismagius (Iza), Salamence (Elphaba).

Shiny 3: Entei (Daddy), Electivire (Devin), Blastoise (Butch), Golurk (Bender), Hitmonlee (Luffy), Giratina (Shinigami).

New Heart Gold: Charizard (shiny, Jasper), Raikou (shiny event, honorary name Diego), Suicune (shiny event, Valdrigue), empty, hoping for shiny Breloom, Typhlosion (shiny, Tarquin)and Marowak (Josh).

Ghost: Dusknoir (Smithy (Mr. Smith to you), Spiritomb (Murphy), Rotom (Conway), Froslass (Padma), Shuppet (Jasper) and Mismagius (Iza, shiny).

This troper has a team of four that's gone from Ruby to Heart Gold, and they are by far my favorite team ever. Also, all of their in-game sexes are different from how I perceive their gender. They all have a pesonality.

Unmei the Gardevoir: TheHero and TheChick. Level headed and modest, she's willing to do anything to protect the rest of her team.

Kokoro the Blaziken: TheLancer and The LoveInterest: HotBlooded kung-fu master who won't stand for believing anyone is stronger than he is.

Ki the Shiftry: TheBigGuy and the TeamMom: She takes care of everyone else and picks up the slack when the others lose.

Sora the Altaria: TheSmartGuy and the SixthRanger: He joined the team last, but more than makes up for it by mentoring the others.

This Troper caught a shiny Raticate. A few days later, she caught a shiny Drowzee. She is beginning to think they may not be as hard to find as she originally thought...

I see I'm not the only Troper who's got their own team's personalities figured out. This Troper will list his team's personalities, just to complete the set (and to see if anyone's like-minded about any of them)...

Neon the Feraligatr: TheHero. A hot-blooded fool of a leader whose guile appearance belies a cunning, strategic mind. He's pretty much the team's CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass.

Bushroot the Torterra: TheLancer. Raised from an egg with Neon's care, he's BrilliantButLazy.

Megavolt the Electivire: The BoisterousBruiser. Energetic and outspoken, he's the kind of Pokemon you'd rely on to be a party animal. He's like Franky, except he's not a cyborg.

Erazor the Houndoom: The poster boy for DarkIsNotEvil. He's a good soul who skirts with the shadows, preferring to rely on his firey heritage (i.e, he's more of a Fire-type move user on my team).

Kenshiro the Scizor: You know where this is going to end. The serious type, he focuses on battling strong opponents. Should you hurt an innocent Pokemon in front of him, prepare for Hokuto Shinken-based retribution through Bullet Punch and Vacuum Wave. Your team has already fainted.

Bahamut the Dragonite: The LightningBruiser. His speed is unmatched by anyone on the team, thanks to his Extremespeed technique. He is fast, strong, agile, and all-around kind enough to hand you your Pokemon's tail-end before they get in over their heads.

StPatrick923: Along the same lines as TacoNinja's themed teams above,

Dark Team: Houndoom, Honchkrow, Gengar (or Spiritomb if you insist), Cacturne, Sharpedo, Tyranitar. National Dex/Copies of SoulSilver or Platinum required.

Klon: Like most of you, I have played Pokémon from the very beginning, so I'm going to focus on my newest team (Pokémon FireRed) which has just beaten the Pokémon Leauge and entered the Hall Of Fame. Trying something new for a change, I have named my Pokémon after (supposedly) fitting [[s:wrestlers]] Sport Entertainers. Here's the HoF team with levels etc. as of beating the Elite Four:

It does this troper some good to see that she's not the only one who anthropomorphizes her pokemon. Her current team includes the following (all named for Robot Masters from the original {{Megaman}} series:

Protoblues (Typhlosion) : TheHero and AloofBigBrother. He's a serious and driven fellow, who looks out for the rest of his team but is emotionally distant at the same time.

Metalman (Lucario) : TheLancer and DeadpanSnarker who is very personable and chipper. He's the joker of the team and is in charge of cooling down heated situations between his teammates.

Elecman (Jolteon) : TheSmartGuy and GlassCannon of the team. He makes up for his physical weakness by being extremely good with devising strategies.

Gutsman (Graveller) : TheBigGuy . He's a big dolt with a heart of gold. He loves to give his teammates big bear hugs.

Splashy (Vaporeon) : TheChick and TeamMom. Don't hurt her brother (Elecman), and DO NOT hurt her friends. You will possibly die for it.

Crashman (Pidgey) : TagalongKid and Metalman's little brother. Notably the target of a lot of kidnapping attempts, which means he gets his brother and his friends into a lot of trouble.

This troper's tales:

In nearly 10 years of on-and-off Pokémon, not ''once'' have I come across a Shiny or the Pokérus. Not even in ''148'' hours of playing Silver.

The only Pokémon I've ever capped at level 100 was a Linoone. I did this on my first run through Ruby.

I hate the Bug type and never capture them.

Back in 2002, a classmate and I were both playing Silver during a long school trip. He taught me the cloning glitch and gave me a clone of his level 100 Dragonite. I then cloned ''that'' several times over until my sister (who was playing Gold) and I each had six. We both proceeded to have fun curb-stomping the Elite Four with our Dragonite parties.

Somehow, I always end up with ungodly amounts of money — as in, so much that 60 Hyper Potions hardly make a dent. Having a Linoone constantly pick up Nuggets sent my money into the stratosphere on Ruby, but I've somehow managed to become fabulously wealthy in Diamond by the fifth gym.

No matter which starter I pick, I ''always'' manage to lose the first battle in FR/LG.

When picturing the world in my mind, I always imagine my 'mons as PettingZooPeople. Maybe it's the furry in me.

Hey, it's Tropers/DominusTemporis again. I finally gave in and decided to do a Nuzlocke challenge of my own, starting with Platinum, which will then progress through either Ruby or Emerald (I'm leaning toward Emerald, though), [=LeafGreen=], and ending with one of the HGSS duology (haven't decided there either). I have a rough storyline plotted out, following a trainer from a naive not-quite-adolescent to a confident young adult by the end, and linking all four games as well. Of course, I haven't finished Platinum yet, only as of this post beginning the final gym. My team consists of Infernape, Hippowdon, Gallade (all male), Gyarados, Tropius (both female), and Magnezone, all of whom are 50+ levelwise and have proven their worth many a time. I have had... well, I won't say how many losses so far since I intend to make a comic on the Nuzlocke forums, but there are some that were cruelly tragic in real life. Also, it seems like nearly every other thing I catch has a Rash nature. It's kinda weird.

Despite my Pokemon-related username, I've never actually played any of the Pokemon games beyond Generation II (barring the first gym or so of Sapphire), nor have played competitively or even raised a Pokemon up to level 100, but... in Yellow version I had a Zapdos (caught with Master Ball) and Vaporeon (my chosen Eeveelution), which I got up to level 80. I then traded them over to Silver version for, like, Zubats or something in order to assist in battling Red (my Silver party at the time was in the level 60s, plus I tended to revolve my actual party around the HMs rather than using HM slaves, meaning for instance I always had the red Gyarados in my party because it could learn Whirlpool and Waterfall). Then I reset my Silver game. Without trading them back first.

This Troper has been playing Pokemon for eleven years now. I own the majority of the games, collect the merchandise, and fervently participate in the competitive battling scene.

Continuing my update on Black Version progress... I beat the game. :D I'm working on thinking what the personalities would be on these guys now, haha, along with starting my breeding and EV training...

This Troper always remembers a moment in Emerald, his first ever pokemon game. He was having trouble with the Elite Four as after every battle, his pokemon would have the bare minimum HP (they were all around level 45). He decided to take a break and challenge Raquasa. After many failed attempts, he switched in his Swellow, his weakest pokemon while Rayquaza was flying. As Rayquaza flew down, his Swellow was left with just 1 HP. Seizing his chance, he used Endeavor. Much to his delight, Rayquaza immediately rested afterwards. He used Endeavor again, and caught Rayquaza next turn with an ultraball. He then Blitzed through the elites, laughing. He plans on getting White later this month (Because while I like the typing Fire/Dragon better, I think Zekrom looks cooler, has less weaknesses and I would prefer White forest to Black city because I wouldn't have to get all cool previous gen mons via trade).

So I don't have Black and White in English yethave the Japanese versions on my laptop, but that's another story, *cough cough*. But I firmly believe in being prepared, and have already chosen, characterized, and named my teams for both Black and White, and the inevitable third game.

Black:

Emboar (AugustusAmy Pond's' dad's name, thought it sounded cool]]): TheHero and team leader, deeply caring of his comrades, much like the Pokedex suggests. Generally a nice guy, goes into unstoppable rage mode when confronted with evil or injustice. Intended to start out as a bumbling Tepig then mature into a badass as the journey progresses. Has mastered a wide variety of techniques, even those outside his own type like Wild Charge.

Simisage (Bravoin Jonny Bravo- look at the hair! OH MOMMA): TheLancer, totally a ham and totally full of himself. Except when he decides to get serious, because then he drops the act and stops being funny. The comic relief of the group otherwise, but should not be underestimated. HeterosexualLifePartners with Augustus, having been teammates the longest and because Augustus knows he has a good heart deep down. Fully came into his own in the Elite Four battles, where his Seed Bomb and Shadow Claw techniques made him an invaluable team member- and people say the monkeys are weak!

Excadrill (SimonYes, THAT Simon who pierced the heavens): HotBlooded and total badass. Unlike Augustus who doesn't particularly relish battling, Simon fights to become stronger, in order to protect innocent Pokemon. Before being caught he saw what Team Plasma was really like, and the things they did to Pokemon. He chose to find a strong trainer so he could assist directly in their defeat, and will not hold back on any villain standing between his drill and the heavens.

Carracosta ({{Gamera}}): A fossil Pokemon who died out and relishes his second chance at life. The most optimistic and down-to-earth teammate, and something of a WarriorPoet. Due to his lack of speed he initially seems like the least useful member, but when he uses Shell Smash he turns into a LightningBruiser to be reckoned with. He only does this in the most dire of circumstances or against very strong opponents, however.

Golurk (Titan): Nobody is entirely sure what's up with this guy or what he really wants or likes. Titan is mute, and doesn't seem to pay much attention to or understand language anyway. The other teammates are a little weirded out by him at times, but Titan willingly shields them in battle with his durable body, and his loyalty and strength are undoubted. He also seems especially gentle toward children and small Pokemon. Completely by coincidence his actual nature is Gentle and his characteristic is "sturdy body." Life imitates art?

Bisharp (Kuugain KamenRider Kuuga, who I picked at random for looking cool and having a cool name): The final addition to the team, probably the most anti-heroic out of them. He doesn't care about honor or prestige, only winning. His Dark type makes him a little naturally on-edge, but as time passes he begins to warm up to the team as they're always willing to accept him as their friend and partner. Seems to be closest friends with Titan, possibly because the silent Golurk doesn't ask him annoying questions about his backstory. If you're curious, his backstory is that he was exiled from his tribe for showing mercy to a fallen opponent, and has battled with the conflict between his species' instincts and what he personally feels.

White:

Serperior (Excaliburof how Snivy looks with [[SoulEater a cane and top hat]]): Team leader. A bit prissy and prideful, but dead loyal to his trainer. Serves as more of the mentor to the rest of the team since he served much longer before any of them joined, unlike the Black team. Can be a bit of a StealthMentor at times, and while he doesn't show it he does genuinely like each of his partners deep down. Really deep down. Is oddly fond of Lillipup for reasons nobody understands.

Zoroark (SylarYes, from Heroes. I couldn't think of any other good shapeshifter/illusionist names and I always liked the sound of it anyway): Probably the closest thing to a TokenEvilTeammate any team I've used has. Not really evil, but he was definitely a CreepyChild as Zorua, not to mention slightly disjointed from reality and not really aware that others feel pain. Excalibur took him under his wing, claiming it was simply to keep him from being a detriment to the team. After a ''lot'' of guidance and character development, he became something more like Deadpool with less fourth wall breaking.

Darmanitan (Bernard): Stern, but kind. That's probably the best way to describe Bernard. He especially seems a bit cold at first meeting, but is friendlier to those he knows well. Is both literally and figuratively TheBigGuy, and is exceptionally strong even for his species. At first, Sylar made fun of him for being small as a Darumaka, but then evolution occurred and Sylar learned a lesson about foresight. Bernard didn't do anything to him because he's too nice; in fact, hurting his teammates is his BerserkButton and he has more than enough power to wreck anyone he wants to. His eyebrows blaze more than usual when angry.

Beartic (IorekHisDarkMaterials, the armored polar bears are probably the thing I like most out of that series): Slightly aloof but well-meaning, Iorek's personality changed greatly from when he was a cheerful little Cubchoo. Perhaps it's because the stereotypical Ice-type personality took over, or perhaps he feels he failed in some way and distances himself out of shame. Bernard is the only one he's close enough with to talk about it, but the Fire-type isn't giving up any secrets. The reason for this is because he learned from Brycen that certain Ice-type species must rein in their feelings, having a "heart of ice" or else their powers weaken- so Iorek chose the good of the team over his own emotions.

Galvantula (Anansi): This team has a lot of crazy, aloof, prideful, and suchlike members, but Anansi, true to his name, is the fun one of the group. A trickster, jokester, pungeon master, and always ready with a sharp retort or witty comeback in battle. While not physically the strongest, he has a lot of skill and agility, and never learned how to surrender (his Determinator status inspired by Spider-Man's own unbreakable will). Out to prove to the world that Bugs aren't a type to be laughed at, at least not for their supposed weakness.

Braviary (Vaughnname has particular special meaning- I named him for my father): Although he joined as a Rufflet, Vaughn is easily the oldest of the group, simply having not chosen to evolve before. Until he joined, the team was a RagtagBunchOfMisfits, with only Bernard's good nature and Anansi's jokes keeping everything from falling apart (what with Sylar being borderline psychotic, Iorek becoming more distant, and Excalibur starting to lose what little control he had as everyone grew stronger), but Vaughn's long life imparted him with wisdom and foresight beyond most Pokemon. Ended up becoming TheHeart as he brought the team together into a family when they needed it most, and ultimately even Excalibur will defer to him in serious situations.

Probably-Be-Called-Gray-But-Who-Knows-I-Sure-Don't:

Samurott (Kenshinnecessarily THAT Kenshin, at least not entirely- there was a samurai named Kenshin in real life too!): This team's leader is the most willing to think of himself as that role in the form that it's needed, specifically, the one who motivates the others and will always be there for them whenever they need him. Honorable, strong, and determined, as he aspires to be like the real samurai of old. Treats opponents with respect and admiration, and holds himself to the highest standard possible.

Zebstrika (Angus): About as Scottish as an electric zebra can get. There's no real logic as to why a zebra Pokemon in a region based on the USA is Scottish, but Angus is and is proud of it. Does not fall under the drunken or violent sterotypes, but he is boisterous and occasionally rowdy- perhaps like Kamina but with a bit more common sense. In fact, the only thing that makes him even remotely angry is asking to ride on his back. He's ''not'' a Rapidash. Don't forget it.

Escavalier (Percivalwanting to use this name for ages, almost used it for a Plusle but then I went with Electrode instead, long story): The knight in shining armor, or at least he wants to be one. Was weak but determined as a Karrablast, and eventually found a Shelmet who wanted to become faster, so they ended up both evolving. His goal is to be a superhero to young Pokemon, though he hasn't yet figured out what that means or what it entails. Looks up to Kenshin for guidance about how to be a good swordsman, and overall is a good-hearted Pokemon who's like a much less insane Don Quixote.

Haxorus (Styrmlingunseen third dragon brother in Dragon Quest IX): A rough-and-tumble dragon who views fighting as a bit of sport. He knows he's not the smartest and doesn't pretend to be, but is generally jovial and has a dirty joke or two to lighten the mood (you'd be surprised at Pokemon toilet humor). Besides battling, he prefers to relax and simply enjoy what life throws at him. Definitely a simple guy who enjoys the simple things in life and is unashamed of it.

Chandelure (LumiereYes, I know, I'm so sorry, it was the best I had): Foppish and French, that's Lumiere for you. Is not particularly mean or scary like others of his species, and is in fact helpful and suave, much like his namesake. Decided to join the team because they were the first to actually welcome his help for guidance through the Celestial Tower rather than be suspicious because of the stigma surrounding his line, and is Jeremiah Gottwald-level loyal because of it. Not to be underestimated, though, there's a reason he's a permanent team member.

Volcarona (Helios): Helios should have been born a Spoink or Tepig, because he's all ham, even since he was a Larvesta. Used to having his species worshipped as sun gods but isn't quite aware yet that things have changed over the years. Despite that he's more of a benevolent sort, and the worst he's really done is demand a sacrifice of thirty virgins (the only one the team could think of was Bianca and even then they weren't entirely sure he was serious). Were this a cartoon, he would be voiced by the one and only BRIAN BLESSED. Exactly why he fights- fame, recognition, respect?he just really likes the other team members and so chooses to keep fighting alongside them- is unclear, but the team is thankful he's on their side.

I amazingly managed to beat the Elite Four; all my other pokemon were KO'ed, so I used a Swablu against a Wailord... amazingly it worked and I beat them.

This troper feels rather unlucky, since she's managed to log an average of 100 or more hours per game, has played every installment since 2nd gen (didn't have a gameboy prior to that) on several occasions started those games over... and only encountered her first shiny pokemon in Soul Silver. Granted, prior to 4th gen, she was stupid and wouldn't have been able to catch it (nasty habit of relying solely on the starter) but it's a little weird to realize that it's not as uncommon as it seemed.

My current White team is about to fight the Elite Four, and is as such

Seismitoad > BillyMC: The Big Guy on my team, had him since he was a Tympole. At first he was very timid about things, but grew up and now he assists the team while cracking jokes. Wishes to meet a female Seismitoad in battle to impress her, but it hasn't happened yet.

Scolipede > Mark: Mark's personality is largely a byproduct of my own. He was eager to impress as a Venipede, but now he is very silent and introspective. Friends with BillyMC, but thinks of him as a simple oaf.

Sigilyph > Joy: As her name implies, Joy loves the feel of battle. Not because of bloodlust or revenge, but because she feels her true talents come out in a fight. Probably the most reliable and talkative member of my team, and a bit of a poet.

Klinklang > Epsilon: The Mighty Glacier of my bros, can take on any threat. He is deathly afraid of Fire types, his one weakness. Epsilon wants my attenton the most, and takes any opprotunity to showcase his talents. Can be slightly annoying sometimes.

Haxorus > Pastel: The Chick(?) among the rest, Pastel manipulates the rest of my team to further herself in my eyes. She often makes fun of Epsilon's weakness or Scolipede's hatred. Is my most powerful friend, but also the smartest. Very egotistical.

Bisharp > Checkmate: My newest member, but also the one I have trained the most to further his evolution. Bisharp is very quiet, never speaking to anyone since I have captured him. He is extremely brutal to his...our enemies.

This Troper is quite enjoying her Pokemon Black team.

Samurott (Shamu): The leader of the team and the strongest member, Shamu goes around drowning small children with his Surf attack. He is very proud of his strength and isn't afraid to show it. Had a minor HeroicBSOD around the fourth gym, where he was afraid of being replaced with a Palpitoad. He also has issues because just about all of his best friends were replaced with some new guy halfway through the game.

Audino (Derek): The medic and token CuteShotaroBoy of the team. Derek is a magnificent healer who is the longest-standing member of the team other than Shamu. He is very friendly and slightly shy at times. He loves sweets and snuggling. And yes, he IS indeed named after Derek Stiles.

Chandelure (Will): Will is a smart, studious character with a strong British accent. He enjoys fire (naturally) and fears water (again, naturally). Because of his fear, he does NOT get along with Shamu. At all. He also highly dislikes all the attention that he gets from the ladies, mostly because he's not ready for a committed relationship yet. He enjoys setting his opponents ablaze with moves like Flamethrower and Will-o-Wisp. He thinks it's classy.

Excadrill (Muttrad): Muttrad is a destructive badass who has incurable anger issues. He's not afraid to take on something that's twice his size and has a type advantage over him. His attacks have been known to leave grown men trembling in fear at night. He has an irrefutable hatred towards grass-types since they always seem to survive his X-Scissor with 1 HP left. He wants to one day retire in a comfortable cottage in the woods. Of course, his name is a reference to Sym-Bionic Titan.

Eelektross (Squiggly): Squiggly, or as she likes to be called, The Dark Lord Squiggly, Destroyer of Worlds. She is Muttrad's official partner in crime, and is almost as destructive as he is. She is the TokenGirl of the team and is proud of her girl power. One day she will rule the world with an iron... claw... mouth... leech... thing.

Scrafty (Gangsta): Gangsta is a lazy punk who doesn't like to be messed with. He flipkicks anyone who dares mess with him and then sprays graffiti all over the body. He loves to eat and relax. The other team members are often annoyed by his slack-off attitude.

Past members are Riggs the Simisear, Blitzkrieg the Zebstrika, Shadi the Liepard, Marik the Yamask, Bella the Lillipup, Falconeer the Tranquill, and Sokko the Sawk. [=FoxyShazam=] the Reshiram switches in when I feel like smiting my foes horribly.

Gently going through Black at the moment, but this Troper still fondly remembers his Diamond team.

Tarker (Infernape) The Hero, Bit of a glass cannon. Could power through other Pokes easily but took damage easily if the enemy got a hit in.

Blaze (Luxray) The Lancer, The only female on the team. Thought she was the size of a large cat until I saw an anime episode featuring a luxray.

Trix (Bibarel) The cloud cookoolander, however, probably the most powerful on the team. Vividly recall him one-shotting two of the 3rd and 1 of the 4th Elite Four's pokes. I miss you in Black...

Bait (Starraptor) The Ace. Proud and fierce he relishes combat. He's been the Last Man Standing a few times and always came through. Amazing that he was this little level 2 thing at one point.

Cake (Haunter) The Smart Guy. Prefers to use his brain and agility to befuddle the opponent then send them flying. Actually intended to get a Haunter from the beginning, worked well.

Larry (Graveller) The Big Guy. Originally though he was the weakest on the team, but he's shown me different multiple times. Let the disdainful beware.

This troper has recently uncovered Serperior's pretentious and (appropriately) superiority-complexed nature on Bulbapedia. When I started Pokemon Black, I named my trainer Salieri and my Snivy Mikami. Upon reading more on Serperior's nature, plus the fact that one of my many rival's name is N, the obsessive-compulsive disorder which runs in my family practically thrashes my brain telling me to restart the game and call my Snivy Salieri and my trainer self Mello ._.

My current White team:

TheHero: Crobat (Shiny!) My best Poké Friend. I've been with it since I caught it as a Zubat in Ruby. It's been through: Ruby, Pearl, Soul Silver and now White.

TheLancer: Lucario. Simply there for awesomeness. (And Extremespeed)

TheSmartGuy: Lanturn. The tactical part of the team.

TheBigGuy: Metagross. Also from Ruby, was a prominent part of the team and often paired with Crobat and has always been with Crobat and the two have almost always worked together in Double Battles.

TheChick: Altaria. A great addition to my previous Soul Silver team.

TheSixthRanger: Reuniclus. Probably the best Unova Pokémon I have in White.

Bronzong is just a DemonicSpider or GodamnedBats from ''hell''. It also doesn't help that every psychic type specialist since Gen IV has used one. When I saw Will pull one out, my response was "oh dammit not again!" because those things rarely die in one hit before it can spam the hell out of Calm Mind and start harassing you. Then in Gen V, I fought Caitlin...and she pulled out a Bronzong. My response? "No...please...''ANYTHING BUT THAT''." But on the plus side, Will and Caitlin's Bronzongs are far less annoying than Lucian's was.

This troper started playing Pokémon less than a month ago (March 2011). He's 20 years old. His team consists of:\\ '''In Heartgold''': A male bayleef called Matt, a male Wooper named Nark, a female Mareep called Ampere, a male Kadabra nicknamed Daedolon, Mach the female Pidgeotto, and Spotty the male Togetic. There's Basalt the female Geodude in the box at the moment, but she gets no less love for that (she defeated Bugsy for me ^_^).\\ '''In Emerald''': Males are Ignacio the Combusken, Alastor the Zubat, David the Ralts, Casey the Makuhita and Finglas the Nuzleaf. As for females, there's Lilyanne the Lombre and my favorite, Venus the Kirlia.\\ Also:\\ 1) He won't take a wild Ralts down even if his life depends on it. He'll try and catch it no matter what. If he doesn't have any Balls, he'll run.\\ 2) He doesn't give a damn about shinies. They're not any tougher than the normals anymore, so why bother?\\ 3) He wishes that someday the games will have unicycles as vehicles.\\ 4) He stopped and stared at the picture of a chibi Lopunny for half an hour after he got to the part where Lieutenant Chen [[HighOctaneNightmareFuel is brutally slaughtered by a Scarecrow in F.E.A.R. Since last entry, most of these guys actually sprouted in my mind as true characters. Reading the previous tropers' entries helped a bit.\\ - Ignacio usually displays so little emotion to ones he doesn't know people often ask me if he's a robot, but only because he's damn shy - he lost more than once to a Wingull when he was a Torchic, and that affected his self-esteem until I sat down and talked to him. He feels responsible for the team, being the second oldest in the whole group, but is a failure at solving internal conflicts. Has a FriendlyRivalry with Matt to see who's the better team commander.\\ - Matt is the red to Ignacio's blue, being particularly upbeat and extroverted. He's not as worried about defending the others as Ignacio is because he knows they're not stupid, but it's still a good idea not to mess with them. None of us can stop him if he gets in a frenzy.\\ - Venus is gentle to everyone and very caring, but won't hesitate on using unorthodox attacks if the situation calls for it. She knows no recovery moves, but can fix wounds nicely with antiseptics and gauze nonetheless.\\ - Daedolon is a complete {{Cloudcuckoolander}} whose favorite pastime as an Abra was rolling screws around, a hobby he got at the Goldenrod Bike Shop. He's quite a good mechanic, actually, which the screw habit turned to when he evolved... When he's not sleeping. He agrees on my unicycle idea.\\ - Dilan and David are the team's pranksters (they got on Ignacio's nerves a lot a while ago), but that's more to call our attention than anything. They've been getting good at battling, however, and started taking themselves a bit more seriously. When they're apart, Dilan's a trademark {{Keet}}, and David, being a little older, is more collected.\\ - Nark is the run-of-the-mill NiceGuy. Not much to be said about him, except that he HatesBeingTouched without warning.\\ - Lilyanne forms an OddCouple with Ignacio, and is the only one that causes him to really loosen up. She's as cheerful as Matt (I can't imagine how she'll be as a Ludicolo), but also wiser, despite being younger. Snarky as hell when the going gets tense.\\ - Spotty hasn't changed ever since he hatched, and is the team's eternal TagalongKid despite having as much battle experience as Matt himself. He loves playing with Dilan and David, and frequently bumps headfirst into Nark. You can guess what happens.\\ - Basalt is a tomboy if there ever was one, and a very inconsequential one at first. She used to bump heads with Matt (sometimes literally about her constantly into battle without any sort of plan, which caused a bit of a rift in the team when it made me lose to Bugsy. He managed to lower that tendency of hers to a sliver now, thankfully.\\ - Mach, well... I think she'd be much better off with Barry. It's not that she's impatient, but she's too damn fast, physically and mentally. She gains a permanent stay on the Pokéball if she's not training or fighting, because no one can put a cork in her babbling, and so she didn't bond much with the team. Mind you, she managed to get ''Venus'' annoyed once.\\ - Casey is unusual for a Makuhita: he loves mental training as much as physical workouts. I'm almost finished teaching him how to read, write and do some simple math problems. He's one of the closest to me, and usually sits by my side when he's not training with Ignacio.\\ - Alastor's trademark characteristic is that he can't take a joke. He's far from uncooperative or sympathetic, but his mental age is far too advanced for himself, and so he gets a bit irritated by the others' bickering and joking around. He Steel Wing-ed Dilan once when he was getting particularly loud, and Lilyanne when she blurted an IncrediblyLamePun about Ignacio, a berry and a rusty metal bar (don't ask).\\ - Finglas is the "perpetual traveler" in Pokémon form. I caught him as a Seedot near New Bark Town while he was out of the tall grass. Later on I found out he was curious about humans, their objects, and their constant coming and going. He can't help but fidget so much if we stay for too long at one place, his ball ''shakes''. Also, you can't show him anything new without him taking it from you and analyzing it more carefully than a microscope. One time Venus bumped into me and released him from his ball at the Slateport market, we only walked away when a guard kicked us out. At 2 A.M. You can guess how he fights: "make the opponent throw every different move it has, develop a counter and then act on that".\\ - Last but far from least, there's a Pokémon that's with me since he hatched from his egg: a Ralts called Malcolm. What makes him different is that I couldn't put him in a Pokéball (he doesn't register, it's like throwing it at a human), he gains no experience from Pokémon duels, and has no moves whatsoever. It doesn't stop him from battling... in the Liandri Grand Tournament arenas. He's still an amateur that only trains with me, but he loves it nonetheless. He's by far the one bonded the most closely to me. There are three things that can't even be mentioned by name without him freaking out, though: Alma, Fettel and Fairport.you may have imagined, he's completely meta. He was born in my mind a good time before I started playing any of the games.

This troper was ridiculously happy about the message portrayed in B/W because she stands for the same reasons. I've only ever caught 6 Pokémon in a game and raised them as my team. The only exceptions are legendaries and shinies. My White team was caught early on and power-raised and the only Pokémon who are sat in my PC are Zekrom, Victini, Cobalion and Virizion (I've yet to catch Terrakion). ... I'm not N.

Shogun, my Samurott. Amazingly loyal, although occasionally a bit violent when angered. Has been by my side since the start.

Haxorus. He's incredibly proud (for good reason) but he will defend his team to the fainting point.

Zweilous. Nervous, violent, and constantly on edge, but powerful enough to take out most Pokemon with a single Dragon Pulse to the face. She doesn't get along so well with Haxorus.

Reuniclus: Easily the smartest member of the team, Reuniclus just comes in, sweeps out half my opponent's team, and leaves. Outside of battle, he's not very social, although he's warming up to...

Chandelure. My second special sweeper,Chandelure has helped me capture so many Pokemon its not even funny. He's even taken out half of Shauntal's Pokemon. Close friends with Reuniclus

Mienshao. The most recent addition to my team, Mienshao has quickly cemented his status as awesome by taking out two of Ghetsis's Pokemon in a single hit each. He's not very friendly though.

My first runthrough of Black, I was afflicted with PokeRus for the first time in over a decade of playing the games with the condition in them. I nearly cried happy tears.

I'm currently replaying Emerald, and so far i'm up to Winona. My team is all lvl 35, and is consisted of a Marshtomp (Because I need one for my Platinum game :/), a Plusle, a Vibrava, a Linoone, a Swalot and a Vigoroth. Yeah, i'm gonna PWN.

I was playing Single battle in the Battle Tower in Pearl. I was on the last battle of the set, and I had all three Pokemon against his last Pokemon, Seaking. I got it almost fainted, but it breaks out Horn Drill and takes out all my Pokemon - without missing once. What.

Having just beat Ghetsis, I would like to list the pokemon I will use for the inevitable third game:

Percy the Samurott, a brash DeadpanSnarker with a giant stick up his arse. Hates Mienshaos for reasons he refuses to divulge.

Helios / Vesta the Volcarona, who despite being a giant ham, is the most level-headed of the team. Has started an entire cult based off hammyness, though this could just be the fact that s/he's a Volcarona, and was worshiped ages ago.

Oleander the Zoroark, the teams joker. She may or may not be messed up in the head.

Ewf the Bouffalant, a complete CloudCuckoolander. Loves dancing, to the point of ignoring a wild pokemon if it engages him while dancing.

Cans the Conkledurr, a BloodKnight who's always looking for a good battle. Will often freeze up and refuse to respond to visual stimuli for several minutes for completely unknown reasons.

Platter the Chandelure, a bipolar who loves chewing on things. A bit of a Pyromaniac, though she refuses to admit it.

This Troper (Bobby) and his current team in White...to be determined...reset a third time because he finally realizes how much he loves Oshawott more than Snivy or Tepig. And now he realizes how much sadder he's gotten from buying that Snivy plushie instead of Oshawott, or even missing his chance of getting his picture taken with a human-size Oshawott at the Pokémon Black and White tour at the Mall of America. Dialga, send me back!

This troper (Sean aka Dragonessa) has been a Pokemon fan ever since she was a little girl and started with Pokemon Red and Blue, then moved onto Yellow, Gold, Silver and the rest. She is currently addicted to Soul Silver. Her favorite types of Pokemon are Dragon, and her favorite Legendary that she ''must'' have on any team she makes is Rayquaza. These days, with the Pokemon games able to handle just about any Pokemon from any game, she has been able to indulge in her Pokemon kickassery by wiping the floor with her Legendary team that she reserves just for one-on-one battles over Wifi. That team consists of: Rayquaza, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Arceus, Dialga, Groundon. All of said Legendaries are nearing Level 100 as this Troper speaks. She is also partial to the Legendary Dogs and sometimes puts those in the team.

Isn't that cheating with only legendaries?

If the opponent isn't forewarned, yes. This setting is completely banned on the metagame as well, but I think she doesn't mind.

This troper, having played all the main games so far, has always picked the Grass starter Pokemon in each new Generation. It's like a religion to him.

After some fun in Black with an AR, this troper decided to go up against the electric gym leader with his dark type team. Things went horribly wrong and my Nuzlocke Run ended right there, but I found out that my cacturne was a freaking tank!

What was your team, if I might ask? I also have a Dark-only team (two, actually), and Elesa was a breeze for me. Also, hooray for Dark-only teams! I've never seen anyone else outside the three E4 members in the games use one.

My (totally unhacked aside from actually obtaining) team consisted of:

Kennith the scraggy (thought smack down would be enough to take out her emolgas...)

Volta the sandile. Horribly low defenses before it evolved and slow to boot.

Capone the murkrow. Don't know what I was thinking there.

Reynard the zoroark. Nothing special.

Tenebrae the umbreon. Got paralyzed just before he died to inflict Elesa's zebstrika with paralysis itself.

Rommel the cacturne. Used tenebrae's sacrifice to set up ingrain and leech seed while whittling away zebstrika's HP with poison sting. Elesa ended up using both of her hyper potions, but leech seed and ingrain, combined with Rommel's stupidly high defense, were enough to pretty much ignore flame charge. He lost to one of the surviving emolgas. All in all, when I decided that I was just going to do a playthrough with a dark-type team instead, I trained until my entire team was around level 30-35 and curb-stomped the gym leader.

How many people struggled with [[{{ThatOneBoss}} Hydreigon? This troper actually managed to beat it in White without suffering too much (after two OHKOs on her team, though) by using her ''Zebstrika'' of all things. She just spammed Charge over and over (since Charge boosts Sp. Def and most of Hydreigon's attacks are special attacks), and pretty much just stalled long enough to revive her team. Of course, she's not using Zebstrika for her Black playthrough, so...

Jumping on the 'share your team' bandwagon, AnonTroper's team in Black currently consists of;

Samuro the Samurott; Obtained from Professer Juniper as an Oshawott. The (arguable) leader of the group, and has an affinity for whatever he finds to be awesome at the moment.

Pawnch the Sawk; Was originally going to be used as insurance for Lenora's Watchog, but proved to be too awesome for just that, and became a key member. Has an unhealthy obsession with lemonade, spicy food, and the Pokemon Musical, but overall is a pretty cool dude, and occasionally acts as the TeamMom.

Camian the Krokorok; Like Pawnch, was originally going to be insurance against Elesa, but, again, proved to be too awesome, and is now a full-fledged member. Seems to think that Pawnch is female.

Tarana the Galvantula; Obtained as a Joltik. The only female on the team, and switches Team Mom duties with Pawnch.

Archie the Archeops; Revived from a fossil in Nacrene City. The second-newest member of the team, whom replaced the previous Team Bird, Henada the Unfezant. Is the team sweeper, though he gives up easily.

DeeQ the Vanillish; Caught as a Vanillite at Cold Storage. The absolutely newest member of the team. Hasnt had much time to develop his battle skills, and is thus weaker than everyone else on the team.

As an ancient(33 y/o) troper AND Pokemaniac, I only recently got Pokemon Diamond. I attempted to challenge the Elite Four with a team at L50...I made it to Cynthia after several tries but she shut me down in a hurry. I decided to grind to L55 and try again...this time, I got through all of Cynthia's Pokemon except Garchomp who slaughtered my Weavile without much trouble. After some minor team adjustments, I FINALLY got past the dragon to win with: Infernape(Flamethrower, Close Combat), Hippowdon(Earthquake, Stone Edge), Staraptor(Brave Bird, Return, Close Combat), Roserade(Petal Dance, Sludge Bomb, Synthesis, Stun Spore), Golduck(Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam...the duck was the one who FINALLY took down Garchomp with the aid of a well-timed X Special), and Weavile(Night Slash, Ice Shard). Worked my way through the postgame and managed to catch Giratina, Cresselia, AND Heatran without using the Master Ball. Quick Balls are freakin' BROKEN...they allowed me to catch both Dialga and Uxie in the first turn.

TheHero: Derp the Samurott. Don't let his name fool you, I really do love this guy. Unfortunately, he happens to be very subject to TheWorfEffect, especially since he evolved. Maybe I should have kept him as a Dewott...

TheLancer: Chuck the Sawk. Technically, I suppose it's up for grabs whether he or Ozzy is the Lancer, but it's usually Chuck who bails me out whenever Derp gets his butt handed to him.

TheBigGuy: Ozzy the Gigalith. Not the sharpest rock in the mines, but he's always been a pretty reliable damage sponge.

TheSmartGuy: Shadow the Zoroark. Got him from my friend, since I missed the Celebi event (curse Nintendo!). Shadow loves screwing with people's heads, but he's definitely the squishiest member of my team. He did manage to beat Caitlin's Metagross when I rematched her though.(stupid thing kept using Zen Headbutt, can you believe it?)

TheChick: Atta the Durant. Captured in Victory Road, and used to take the place of my Whimsicott who I finally realized was ''god awful''. She's also the only female on my team. Likes biting Shadow and Derp a lot.

TheSixthRanger: Yin the Reshiram. Used mainly for Flying me from place to place, but he does have his moments of greatness in battle, such as single-handedly defeating Marshal's team during the rematch and defeating Cynthia's demon Milotic.

And, now that I have a full party in it, my Platinum team:

TheHero: Skipper the Empoleon. Since I've yet to reach the Elite Four, he's pretty much carrying my entire team, standing at Level 69 while everyone else is in the low 50s (expect that to change soon, though). I've have to say his crowning moment (of both awesome and funny) was annihilating Candice's team while I wasn't even paying attention to the battle. So proud of that guy *sniff*.

TheLancer: Echo the Gliscor. Fits the Lancer profile in that she's got a much different personality from Skipper (he's Relaxed, she's Bold). Also better at defending as opposed to attacking, unlike Skipper. Recently, though, inspired by Skipper's absolute decimation of Candice's team, she single-handedly defeated Volkner.

TheBigGuy: Akainu the Magmortar. Definitely a GentleGiant... unless someone makes him mad. Knows Thunderbolt and Focus Blast, in order to deal with those annoying Water and Rock types.

TheSmartGuy: Galahad the Gallade. Easily the most intelligent member of my team, although he's also got incredible physical power (to wit, even fifteen levels lower than Skipper his Attack stat was still higher). Despite this power, he's still The Smart Guy because a) he's Psychic and b) Akainu doesn't fit the bill.

TheChick: Rosie the Roserade (and yes, I know it's a painfully obvious nickname). The first Pokemon to join my team after Skipper, and great for boosting morale. Often breaks up disagreements between the others.

TheSixthRanger: Dynamis the Giratina. Very powerful, but also sinister. Tends to creep the other members of my team out, even Skipper. Still, he's a loyal friend and I'm happy to have his help. Now in Origin Forme, thanks to the Griseous Orb

I was intensely LateToTheParty for Pokemon - while all my other friends had been playing for YEARS, I never started playing/watching Pokemon until I was around 11-12 years old, when a friend asked me to beat the Elite Four with my Gameshark. I was hooked. However, my first game was Pokemon Emerald (which I proceeded to mess up with my Gameshark), and I had only seen bits and fractions of the original anime series--I ended up watching the Hoenn series instead becuase that's what I could find on VHS. But while everyone I know remembers and loves the Indigo League, Misty and Red and Blue, I'm the only one who remembers the Hoenn League, May and Ruby and Sapphire fondly...

You're not the only one in both cases, but I surpass you in one thing: I started at TWENTY, and out of curiosity. Actually my first game was [=HeartGold=], but my favorite, and one I'm the most fond of, is Emerald.

My brothers and sisters ((all four of them)) are big fans of Pokemon and fancy that they know how to play when in fact they just don't know better. So yesterday I used Heart Gold to make something they would never ever defeat.

This Troper is proud to call herself a breeder. Once she finish the Elite 4, she start to breed potentially deadly mons. In SS, she was determined to get, and sucessfully breed, a shiny ninetales (female) that knew energy ball and extrasensory; also a shiny salamence (male) with dragon claw and dragon breath; milotic (female) and sceptile (Male) with dragon breath; cherrim (female) with aromatherapy and razor leaf; and a totally fearsome, unstopable Lucario (female, Lucy I miss you) with premonition, blaze kick and high jump kick. She almost choked her cousin for erasing her game.

Also, her first game was Rubi (never got to finish it, though). Her starter was a torchic, and since then, she always pick up the fire starter and call it "torch" (averted in this platinum replay, chimchar was female) in honor to my long gone torchic. Also in her first platinum playthrough, her first riolu was female, so she called her "Lucy" and everytime she gets a female riolu or lucario she gave them that same name. I miss my team.

...And since everyone is talking about their teams, I guess I can do it too (curious thing is that this time almost all my team is female..

Inferna the infernape. TheHero: loves to fight and really hates Barry's empoleon, as is an asshole. Is a little restless in battle, and sometimes argue (or tries, the other does not pay attention) with Lucy.

Staraptor. TheLancer, when not in battle is kind and quiet, but when action calls she has no mercy with the oponent, wichever is. Smart enough to make plans to beat the oponent to ensure her victory while making it bite the dust in the worst kind of way. Despite that is very loyal and cares for the team.

Roselia. Kind of TheChick, just that she really is useful. She also doesn't like Inari that much. Beautiful, is also a LadyOfWar. Despise that, she can be very caring.

Inari the leafeon, also shiny. TheSmartGuy, not at the same level as the rest of the team, but can kick asses of his own. Loving, intelligent, calm and beautiful, he inadvertently steals the attention, much to Roselia's disgust.

Rotom. The CloudCuckooLander, despite that is quite a fighter.

Floatzel. Is the new girl, just that. Get's pissed when she loses, and it's kind of regular.

Lucy the riolu... For now. She is kind of a loner, a little of TheStoic, but definitely the DeadPanSnarker and maybe the Only Sane Woman. In battle, she's very careful and calculates her movements and of her oponent to ensure a sucessful plan and win without problem. Does not get frustrated when things don't come up as planned, she just calms down and think in a new plan, not forggeting on give everything, everytime. Maybe a second lancer and/or smart girl.

... And waiting fior Giratina to become TheSixthRanger.

And adding to this, I'm starting to turning my game into a story. So far I've finished the Iron Island, and felt kind of sad for it, since Hanami has to say goodbye to Riley (well, until battle frontier), but at least he gave her the riolu egg. Now hatched, she's really fond to her Lucy, the rest of the party are aware of the reasons (specially Inari and Staraptor), except for Inferna, that is kind of jealous of Lucy for that.

This Troper had a realization the other day that may qualify as a {{Crowning Moment of Heartwarming}}.When you breed rare Pokemon like Dragonite, Lapras, (maybe) Manaphy, and others (I'm sure), you're helping an endangered species come back from the verge of extinction. Yay, Breeders!

TheLancer is Ancalagon the Zekrom. I thought this was very epic. (For those who don't know, Ancalagon is a black dragon referenced in TheLordOfTheRings.)

TheSmartGuy is Zoroark the... Zoroark. I got him (her? can't check right now) over GTS, since payday was two days after the Celebi event ended.

TheBigGuy is Landorus, who when I get around to it will be named Kenshin.

"Pureblood" the Serperior: The snobby {{Deadpan Snarker}} of the group, and oddly for a starter, not the main hero - but he is {{The Lancer}}. Always a bit of a pessimist, and seems to absolutely love spoiling everyone's fun.

"Wulfgang" the Stoutland: Here's the hero, the main character. Absolutely loyal to his team, and loves his mustache. Seriously. He loves the thing.

"Kelda" the Scrafty: Kickass personified. She single-handedly took down the last four gym leaders. Including the Flying gym. She also rather enjoys soccer.

"Cipher" the Swoobat: Hyperactive {{Team Pet}}. Always quick to pick up where some other teammate left off, but has trouble actually surviving a fight. His fainting by {{Cherry Tapping}} is so common it's become a running gag. Recently switched out for...

[no nickname] the Excadrill: {{The Big Guy}} of the group, she was added because... well, why not? Secretly aspires to be a chef.

"Demishadow" the Cofagrigus: An invaluble member of the team. She tends to be extrordinarily lucky in terms of evasion, but is quite a {{Tsundere}} personality-wise. Jury's out on whether or not she's really a ghost ninja.

"Terra" the Carracosta: {{The Smart Guy}} and {{The Stoic}}. she spent a bit too much time with the fossil-regenerating scientist, and now thinks she knows more than every other member of her team. She's totally right, of course.

These are my teams from White and HeartGold. I think I might have dug a little too deep on these, but yeah.

My White Team:

"Cody" the Emboar, {{The Hero}} and {{Only Sane Man}} of the group. Rarely shows his emotions, but cares deeply for his teammates, particularly Andrew and Homer.

"Andrew" the Krookodile, {{The Lancer}} and {{The Smart Guy}}. He's best friends with Cody and is a tactical thinker.

"Homer" the Carracosta, {{The Big Guy}}, {{Dumb Muscle}} and {{Butt Monkey}}. His excruciatingly low speed often earns him the harassment of his teammates, but he's a hard worker with a lot of stories to tell.

"Fortree" the Sceptile. My starter from Emerald, transferred to White. He was hired when I realized that my team was in dire need of a water counter, so he's a bit of a {{Ted Baxter}}.

"Skar" the Skarmory, my dear friend from Sapphire (I named him when I was nine ><). He's quick to enter a battle and is slow to give in. He's also surprisingly fast for a Skarmory.

"Vlad" the shiny Crobat. I ran through some cave in Sapphire for almost a day looking for a shiny Zubat, and luckily I finally came across this little guy. Like Fortree, he's a bit of a {{Ted Baxter}} due to his skin color. However, he truly has an inferiority complex because he thinks that the only reason I'm using him is because of his shininess. And he's right.

My HeartGold team:

"Quilivini" the Typhlosion. I've had the name "Quilivini" in mind for a while now, as I used it for my partner Cyndaquil in Blue Rescue Team. He's {{The Hero}} and has a bit of a short fuse.

"Iggy" the Victreebel. He's {{The Lancer}} and doesn't think much of himself, but he's also a reliable poison-inflicter and cares the most about his trainer. He and Quilivini are best friends.

"Chugga" the Slowking. Definitely my most reliable and strongest teammate as he regularly takes down all three of Lance's Dragonite. He's intelligent and uses special attacks effectively with Nasty Plot at his disposal. Named after {{Chuggaaconroy}}.

"Hurricane" the Pidgeot. Talks a big game, but very often gets KOed in important battles. His only real friend on the team is probably Brutus, as everybody else disregards his capabilities.

"Brutus" the Primeape, {{The Heart}} of the group (I caught him in a Friend Ball) who wants to be great but fails often. Despite being a Primeape, he has the patience of a rock. Named after Lou Brutus.

This troper has recently entered the world of Pokemon games in Pokemon Black. Notable team members:

Excalibur the Serperior. Unlike its namesake, he's rather quiet and a loner. He'll do anything to make his opponents loses in slow and humiliating ways, though.

Kain the Chandelure, {{The Lancer}} and {{The Rival}} for Excalibur. Their bickering fest is a delicious entertainment for the other team members, but they can work together efficiently when situation demands it. Likes to give good scares to new members, but he's a very protective sempai who OHKOes anyone who beat the newbies without fail.

Fayne the Musharna, {{The Heart}}. She used to be {{The Chick}} and usually needed to be rescued in wild battles by her male teammates. A not-so-closet {{Yaoi Fangirl}}, often sees Excalibur and Kain's rivalry as something entirely different....

Throh... the Throh, he just likes his species name that much. The team's {{Gentle Giant}}, literal walking fortress and victory bringers with his signature move: Revenge. Currently a mentor to the group's young Lucario, Cadmus.

Donald the Swanna, this troper's main transportation and favorite {{Butt Monkey}}. His ice Beam is scary, though.

Cadmus the Lucario, the timid {{Naive Newcomer}}. He has potential, as his Nasty Plot and Dark Pulse combo managed to take out stronger opponents in a few occasions.

Ixion the Zebstrika, she played a big role in capturing Tornadus. Started out strong but began to suffer numerous losses after obtaining the last badge....

Brownies the Stoutland. Throh's good friend and his {{Badass Mustache}} has its own reputation among the troper's team.

Mika the Lilligant, the team's {{She Fu}}, as her dance is as deadly as it is graceful, and {{Spoiled Sweet}}. Enjoys being dressed up for the musical and seems to have a thing for Cadmus.

This troper gives personalities and even ''backgrounds'' (with a few exceptions such as starters) to the major members of her team whenever possible. Yes, even the Legendaries. My descriptions for all but one generation (R/S/E, which I haven't played) are ungodly long and an ongoing process, so you might want to make yourself a sandwich. ALL the starters thus far fall under TheHero.

Gabrielle the Blastoise - Like Pikachu in the anime, she doesn't really care for being in her Pokeball. Unlike Pikachu, her large size makes it hard to bring her everywhere, thus she only goes into her pokeball when absolutely necessary. Gabrielle takes her role as Aya's protector seriously, and having been with her the longest, understands her the most. Has become very good at drowning out Callisto and Dux's constant bickering.

Joxer the Pigeot - Gabrielle's Lancer and the second major powerhouse after her. He too tends to stay out of his pokeball to take care of flying and lookout duties. Can be seen resting on Gabrielle's shell/gun when there are no other places to do so. A bit stand-offish, but is fiercely loyal to his team.

Callisto the Beedrill - Originally intended to be her hive's Queen, she ran into Aya and her crew as a Weedle when she snuck out. She found she enjoyed the travel and even seemed to care little about whatever happened to her hive afterwards. Hot-headed and somewhat rude. Is closest to Dux when they're not arguing, which is about 90% of the time.

Dux the Farfetch'd Red gave him a different name, but he'll always be Dux to me. - His role is often back-up or using whichever element they're missing. This sometimes lowers his self-esteem, leaving Aya and the rest of the team to assure him he's important to them. Aya and Callisto's opinions especially matter to him in his eyes, though with the latter it may not seem that way due to all the bickering they do.

Ares the Marowak - Having lost his mother in Lavender Town as a Cubone, he hid in Pokemon Tower until Aya and Gabrielle fought and captured him. He was at first resistant to being on the team and being separated from his mother, but eventually became therapeutic for him. TheBigGuy of the group.

Electabuzz - He didn't want a nickname for some reason.I couldn't think of one. Despite his tough appearance and deadly attack repertoire, his sharp instincts and calmness make him the peacemaker of the group. He often meditates in arguments between any other members, including Dux and Callisto, though most of those end with him giving up and shocking them.

'''Gen II / Soul Silver''' original game was sadly stolen, so most of this is Soul Silver only.

Mamoru the Typhlosion - The only non-water starter in all of my games thus far.

Lugia (Gen II / SoulSilver) - Total dork and kind of childish. Loves eating and loves collecting Pokedolls even more. It's probably not the best idea to ask him to see his collection unless you're inside his cave; he tends to get overexcited and leave behind a lot of carnage when getting them. His favorite doll is one that Ho-oh not-so-secretly gave him for his birthday.

Ho-oh (Gen II / SoulSilver) - Also a dork, but tries to be more subtle about it. "Tries" being the keyword. He is kind of vain and doesn't like anyone trying to pet him (unfortunately, he's also the one everyone wants to pet). VitriolicBestBuds - type 2 with a little type 1 on the side - in a Tsundere type of way with Lugia.

Shino the Empoleon - She is appropriately a little on the haughty side. Does ''not'' suffer fools gladly, regardless of how she feels about the individual otherwise.

Haseo the Staraptor - Shino's Lancer. Like his namesake, he can be HotBlooded and develops a one-track mind when he's really passionate about something.

Silabus the Luxray - The most surprising thing about him is that he is rather spiritual for a Pokemon. When out of his pokeball, he can be seen meditating nearby or going with his master to the temple in Hearthome City. What he actually believes in is unknown.

Rosa the Roserade

Giratina (Platinum only) - Having been in the Distortion World for so long, he's ''very'' glad to be out of there and traveling in the other world.

Flynn the Samurott - As his both his names imply (named after Flynn from TalesofVesperia), he has very much a typical samurai personality and a noble heart.

Nitori the Carracosta - Reborn after fossilhood, she's still getting used to living in the modern world. One of the "HM whores" of the team, in charge of all water-related HMs.

Rupert the Braviary - The other HM whore of the group, taking care of flying, strength and cut. Has a tendency to flirt with any (male) Pokemon he finds attractive, which sometimes gets him into trouble.

Victini (Gen V) - His circumstances are similar to Flandre Scarlett's, but his personality is more in line with Suika's...love of sake included, which he was deprived of after being locked away. Don't ask about the withdrawals. Fell off the wagon after being caught by my character; asking her mother for sake was very awkward. He functions quite well regardless. A major star in the musicals. It must be that cute little dance he also does whenever he battles.

Zekrom (Gen V) - TheBigGuy of the team. Wants to join my character and his teammates on some of their non-battle indoor adventures and battle subway rounds, but his large size and status as an "illegal" Pokemon won't let him, which frustrates him to no end.

This is the same Troper that posted above about the Breeder CMOH, but my team has a theme name now, so I'm reposting it here.

TheHero is Venser the Emboar. My team is now named after Planeswalkers.

TheLancer is NicolBolas the Zekrom.

The Smart Girl is Liliana the Zoroark, bred from my old Zoroark.

TheBigGuy is Soren the Landorus.

TheChick and newest party member is Elspeth the telepathic Musharna. She's a type 2 (Dere dominant) Tsundere.

TheSixthRanger is Jace the Kyurem.

This troper has only had one notable team (or at least only one that she's applied personalities and relationships to) from her latest run of Pokemon Pearl that consists of:

Ivan AKA Vanya the Infernape, the leader of the team and a BoisterousBruiser who's a total sweetheart to his friends.

Persephone the Luxray, Vanya's noble and motherly second in command who's in a BattleCouple with Vanya.

Dario the Golem, the team's defensive wall who's a father figure to a young Riolu named Isaac.

Izanagi the Gyarados (who WAS named Frederich until he evolved), a LovableCoward who takes a level in badass after seeing all the dying Magikarp in Lake Valor. He and Dario have a bromance.

Wickham the Staraptor, a stuck up British tsundere who has a rivalry with Persephone (seeing as she's the only other girl). She secretly feels very insecure about her place on the team since she was originally only caught just so there could be a Pokemon who uses Fly.

Amir the Alakazam, the stoic and quietly mischievous sixth ranger of the team. He and Wickham are a BattleCouple.

This Troper Has a Timid Ditto with a 31 in speed meaning I can make any pokemon that breeds as fast as possible

I have the sudden urge to list my shinies...

Scarlett the Gyarados. Scarlett is a LadyOfWar, and she's also a lot calmer then most Gyarados. She has a serious grudge against Team Rocket, for obvious reasons.

Ringleader the Blastoise. Reincarnation of my very first Pokemon (totally legitimate, by the way). He's a BadassGrampa, and he likes to teach the younger Pokemon some tricks from the old days. Don't be fooled by his age, he kicks ass when pissed off.

Krai the Darkrai. He's a Defrosting Ice King who hasn't had an easy life. He stays away from everyone at night, but deep down, he's really sweet. He's also pretty much my sidekick, seeing as I used to have him follow me all the time in HG.

Lalla the Manaphy. Lalla's a dumb-as-rocks runaway princess who's dating the local megalomaniac Raichu, Harold.

Margaret the Kyogre. She gets drunk a lot, and hangs out with my friend's Mew, Patrick. Most of her brain cells have been destroyed by alcohol.

Should I ever get my hands on an ActionReplay, however, I will probably get a few more. In particular, I want a shiny Mr. Mime. One got away from me in the Safari Zone - I feel I deserve it. A Shiny Raichu is also a must, and I'd quite like a Shiny Charizard.

This troper's team for Pokemon Black:

Monterey the Samurott, my starter for Black. {{The Hero}}. If you think he looks goofy, he'll rip you to shreds. Even if he's still in training.

Flare the Typhlosion, transferred forward from [=SoulSilver=], where he was my starter. {{The Lancer}} to Monterey, generally in the second place in the party. A Type II {{Anti Hero}} who nevertheless feels some regret for what he left behind during the transfer.

Grace the Meganium, transferred forward from [=HeartGold=], where she was my starter. A {{Crouching Moron Hidden Badass}} {{Lady Of War}}, her general role in the group is {{The Chick}}. She {{Took A Level In Badass}} after her transfer, and relishes the feeling of being stronger than the Pokemon who outshone her earlier.

Focus the Staraptor, transferred forward from Platinum. {{The Smart Guy}} (er, girl) of the group. Has faced a male Staraptor and proved {{More Deadly Than The Male}}.

Tacky the Empoleon, transferred forward from Platinum, where he was my starter. {{The Big Guy}} of the group, and {{The Mentor}} to Monterey and Shadow (and, at one point, Grace). Hasn't yet fallen victim to the {{Mentor Occupational Hazard}}.

Victini, the {{Cloud Cuckoo Lander}}. The others think of Victini as a {{Psychopathic Manchild}}, which, given its incredible power and childish mentality, might not be too far off the mark. However, for right now, Victini is content with Musicals and shared experience.

Shadow the Hydreigon, who switches spots with Victini when for some reason Victini can't battle. An {{Ineffectual Loner}}, being somewhat weaker than the rest of the team. Eventually accepted lessons from Tacky.

And here's my team, from Pokémon Volt White (a hacked ROM that adds, among other things, the ability to catch almost every Pokémon ingame):

Jean-Luc the Serperior: a {{Jerk With a Heart of Gold}}, Jean-Luc masks his trust issues with an aura of indifference and snobbery. Of course, he's still plenty reliable in a pinch.

Hitomi the Accelgor: probably my favorite, though her attitude is at odds with her skills in battle. Keeps to herself, mostly. When she -does- talk, it's usually sarcasm. Has a secret crush on Jean-Luc.

Franklin the Conkeldurr: Franklin, like Hitomi, doesn't say much, instead preferring to let his Stone Edge do the talking. Unlike Hitomi, though, when he speaks it's not sarcasm so much as brutal, brutal honesty.

Crowley the Zoroark: because of his illusionary capabilities, sometimes I forget who did the work- Crowley, or who Crowley was imitating. As a result, he's painfully modest, and his self-esteem isn't great. Like most Dark-types, he's a CombatPragmatist through and through.

Fletcher the Archeops: Fletcher, the Team Dad, is a dedicated warrior, though he occasionnally has his flashes of snark. He serves mostly as the motivator of the rest of the team and sorely wishes he didn't have Defeatist to bog him down all the time.

Faust the Chandelure: for a Ghost-type, Faust is very happy-go-lucky, not to mention talkative. He loves the city. Granted, after being cooped up in the Celestial Tower, he loves just "getting out of the house", so to speak.

I also have plans for every other Pokémon that I want- movesets and nicknames, mostly, seeing as I don't much care for [=EVs=], [=IVs=], or natures. In my eyes, it's too much hassle, not enough pay.

Update: I just beat a Level 84 Garbodor with a Level 35 Krokorok. If that's not a CMoA I don't know what is.

My RE/MM shinies: Ginger, female Grimer; Azure, male Yanma; Gold, male Steelix; Ken, ditto; Pastel, male Mareep; Star, female Pidgey.

Also, a personal CMOA. I used to replay my Emerald version when I got bored. Well, one day, I was playing through, and realized that it just wasn't interesting anymore. Fifth playthrough, it chooses just after the fifth gym to get boring on me. Didn't know what to do to fix the problem, until I decided to continue playing, but only battle with my Azumaril. Ferris ended up oneshotting Wallace's Milotic and Ludicolo! He ended up being the first pokemon I ever trained to level 100. Love you, sweet!

I recently restarted on SoulSilver, and when I was in the Route 32-Union Cave area, I found a shiny Hoppip ''and'' a shiny Geodude in less than an hour!
