I was quite this way from 6th grade through most of 9th grade - some very extreme breaking of the cutie happened in middle school, involving discovering I was gay, having used kleenix thrown at me, and being clubbed with a bottle of paint as I was excluded by everyone except my platonic life partner. Things got worse with my viewpoint in life even when I no longer had such issues, until I preceeded to have an extreme sudden change in attitude, and I don't even know why - something happened, I guess?

This sickeningly optimistic, Christian, happy-go-lucky troper decided to transfer colleges in her sophomore year from sunny, magical Boca Raton, Florida (after living in Orlando for a majority of her life) to gritty, hustling-bustling Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Let this be a reminder to all: a couple of years of being a CountryMouse will quickly change you and how you perceive everything. So, glasses on bitches.

This Troper actually HAD jade (green) colored glasses when he was younger. Didn't help, so he had to get real ones.

This Troper is a proud inversion. He was more cynical in Middle/High School then he is now. WideEyedIdealism is much more fun.

This troper is a ZigZaggingTrope example. As a child I was hardly happy-go-lucky - mostly just oblivious - but I ''was'' more passionate. (However, I was also full of rage. It wasn't that great.) Over time I've become less able to get outraged about the things that would have made me furious when I was twelve; nowadays I'm more likely to sigh in disgust and move on, unless it affects me personally. But, on the other hand, I hit my misanthropy zenith around ninth grade and since then it's turned into a much more mixed opinion.

This Troper is a Wide Eyed Idealist with Jade Colored Reading Glasses. By this I mean that I can take the glasses off and convince you I'm the world's greatest optimist, then put the glasses on and paint the universe black.

This Troper is an inversion of this. When he was young (5-12) he was very jaded and cynical. Later on however this troper started to become more optimistic. Unfortunately for him, when he was jaded, everyone else was idealistic, and now that he's an idealist, everyone else seems to be putting on JadeColoredGlasses.

Tropers/{{Excel-2010}}. My pair was grafted onto me sometime in 2008-2009 and now I can't watch any good anime anymore. Nowadays my brothers watch all the anime I would be watching and all I feel compelled to do is find excuses as to why they shouldn't be watching it. I will never take them off.

This troper was ridiculously cynical to pessimistic levels at ages 10 - 12, and again at 14, but at that time she decided to work through the problem and likes to think of herself as seeing the world through clear (realistic) glasses at this time, not that these glasses can never get foggy or smudged from time to time.

This troper was actually a relatively Eyed Idealist}} happy, optimistic little girl who only saw the best in everyone. The Cutie}} Being tormented by various classmates from third grade to the end of middle school and being diagnosed with Bird}} clinical depression at age 16 each had a hand in ending that. I realized that if children could be this cold, what hope was there as an adult? Getting involved in animal rights and other forms of political activism, I saw more things (violence, oppression, social injustice, etc.) that Are Bastards}} made me question how "good at heart" most people really are. And yes, I am still involved in activism, I just find myself asking "what's the point?" much more often.

This troper is very much wearing this. He UsedToBeASweetKid, but was put in the wrong places and situations causing him to BreakTheCutie. Nevertheless, he keep being very optimistic. In high school, he had painful experiences one after the other, but still believed that things will be okay someday. Unfortunately, his bad luck continued in college, and thus, he became an IneffectualLoner and EmoTeen. He also experienced LoveHurts. With so many fraustrations and hang-ups, his optimism slowly declined. This Troper is currently either a KnightInSourArmor (at best), or a BrokenAce (at worst).

This troper has always been sarcastic, but became increasingly jaded as she got older. Only recently has that cynicism been tempered by hints of optimistic realism (which generally spawns from my acceptance of the fact that life sucks, so we might as well make the best of it). I seem to shoot down idealism and whatnot when it's presented to me, grow easily exasperated at naïvety and over-friendliness... I really miss the time where I could talk to people I didn't know without using biting, rather unfriendly sarcasm, and when I wasn't so cynical in my outlook of the world. They say ignorance is bliss...

I have the thickest prescription of these out of anyone I've ever met. My faith in humanity is nil, and I find myself unfazed by a lot of things that would surprise and appall most people. Normally I'm content with this and wouldn't change it for the world, viewing myself as a realist and something of an Only Sane Person. But on the rare occasions when I'm proven wrong in my expectations, it's ''extremely'' jarring and leaves me reeling in shock.

I have this impeccable ability to find girls who just aren't attracted to me. After pursuing many failed ones, I just snapped. Now my only way to keep sane is to write stories and hopefully keep myself from suffering a Nervous Breakdown because of my failed journeys. One of my friends who actually is a troper, says my life is a mix between an UnwantedHarem, DoggedNiceGuy, and obviously DidNotGetTheGirl.

I switch between being jaded and optimistic all the time. I tend to get confused about it, but then I look around and realize the people around my age have already quit. I'm only 15, so that's quite sad.
