For this troper, an interesting case is my friend and Pokemon. Although I could easily beat her as far as battles with high level power houses she is more dedicated to following the rules and would reprimand me for exploiting glitches (I'm not talking about action replay either). She's also played more Pokemon games then me, and has probably memorized the entire list past generation 3 (which was my hiatus until platinum came out).

This troper kind of subverts. She plays some games, but she is utterly terrible at it. This resulted in at least two creepy people on multiplayers, who first wanted her to marry them, because 'she's a gurl and she plays Unreal Tournament zomg' and then apparently had their hearts broken witnessing her god-awful aim.

This female troper has been playing EverQuest and WorldOfWarcraft since she was in second grade (literally, not figuratively), and is currently beginning to get into {{Rift}}. As far as [=RPGs=] and other games go, she has a special spot in her heart for DragonAge, LegendOfZelda, KingdomHearts, FinalFantasy, and anything SidMeier. She ''really'' want's to get into DungeonsAndDragons, but she has no one to play with.

I enjoy a wide variety of different video game franchises, including but not limited to the ones mentioned, and plan to start on a few more someday, including but not limited to those mentioned. (But first things first: my DS emulator fails because it won't load state without crashing, and it won't load in-game saved data full stop i.e. it just dives right into a new game upon startup. ._. On top of that, the random number god hates me: on a previous game almost every random encounter was a goddamn Zubat or Kricketot, and on my most recent game, my Chimchar was *bleep*ing ''weak''. Either that or I just wasn't concentrating properly. Either way, I lost ''twice'', both in my first battle against Barry and in a battle against a random boy whose name I can't remember for the life of me. So now I'm waiting 'til I actually ''get'' a DS to play Platinum, and either [=HeartGold=] or [=SoulSilver=].)

This troper personalty knows a 10 year old girl whose unbeatable at Tekken dozens of guys and other girls have played against her only to lose, more people are surprise the fact she's young then a girl.

This troper has been a Pokemon gamer since Red and Green/Blue. I would play Emerald and Platinum again and again and again until I make the perfect teams. Sure, I've beaten Emerald many teams with either a Blaziken or a Swampert as my starter, but I'll do it again, this time with the latter. And Platinum? Well, since I found out that there are actually ''3'' Shiny Stones (one of them hidden), I plan to have the best team ever.

This Troper has a friend IRL who happens to fit the bill of being a GamerChick, although definitely not on the curb-stomping extreme. She's regularly demolished in certain games, like Left4Dead, where she'd be just as dangerous as an ally (especially with a chainsaw) as she would be as an enemy. Although this troper admits that he was pathetically trailing behind her score when playing a round of Counter Strike, and that she can generally hold her own in most other FPS games.

This Tropers sister surprised my father and I by turning out to be a huge fan of anything by Bioware, and she plays The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion in windowed mode while checking her FaceBook, and she actually managed to explain the plot of Metal Gear 2 to me, well at least I think she did, I'm still not sure about the last part...

Metal Gear 2 or Metal Gear Solid 2? I have to ask cause some people still aren't aware that there was a metal Gear series prior to 'Solid'.

This also female troper will play many of the same games as her brother, particularly the fighting ones. She's not particularly good at them, but she's improved from button mashing (she's had to in order to keep up with her much better brother). She tends to get competitive too. She also doesn't play to impress (how can she impress when she's an amateur to casual gamer at best?). That doesn't mean she can't enjoy the occasional game.

I don't think that would count as GamerChick considering this trope is about the TokenGirl in a circle of hardcore gamers. I might be wrong though.

This editor's sister began to turn into one in college. Which is funny because she betrayed no such tendencies while still living under one roof with all of this editor's games.

This troper's wife beat ''Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne'' before he did, and borrowed his DS and his copy of ''Disgaea DS'' so many times that he just said "fuck it", let her keep it, and got his own. Now she kicks his ass in multiplayer.

This female troper is really, really good at video games--any kind, really--and is so good, that she sometimes has to give some players handicaps when she plays them in multiplayer. Did I mention that the people she plays are boys who are three years older then her?

This troper has evolved from being a button-mashing gamer to a decent player even in war games, which she used to suck at. Mostly because you can't button mash in MetalGearSolid and still beat the game in any decent amount of time. She does tend to slip back into button-mashing when she plays Soul Calibur, though.

This Troper grew from someone who shied away from video games altogether, into one of these in the early years at her Senior School. Her firm motto with them though, is "Video games are meant to be fun, and as such shiould be treated this way - fun.", which helps make sure that she doesn't turn into a 'Stop-Having-Fun-Girl'.

This troper's cup of gaming tea is usually focused on older titles. I only own ten games between my Wii and my PS2. However, my emulated titles for NES and SNES run into the hundreds. I'm not talking Mortal Kombat retro. I'm talking Pong retro. It made me a bit of an AngryVideoGameNerd fan. My weird subsphere of interest is Phenomenally shitty games, as well as the classics. That's definately true for me, however I am the only competent sniper in my all female gaming circle. The others fall into the More Dakka category and leave me to protect their asses when they decide to Leeroy Jenkins my plans (ironically, one of them IS a Jenkins...)

This troper admits that he turned his niece into a gamer but she hates sniping weapons like the sniper rifle or battle rifle Halo3 but she's downright fearful with close range weapons like the shotgun, energy sword, and especially the gravity hammer. She is near-perfect on grifball where it's nothing but close range weapons. It's not the only game though she loves Left4Dead and her preferred weapon is the AK-47 or the auto-shotguns. She loves games (more preferably the mature games) and she's only ten years old.

This troper is pretty weird case of a gamer chick from Poland- a country where girls only played Mario during their childhood and later considered games as the worst childlish thing ever. Unless they happened to like anime (another rare case) they would despise you heavly for gaming. She plays since she turned 4 (1992, first console Atari 2600) and wasn't much influenced by male members of family as she had only sisters. Once per year she visited her family in Germany who always had all new gaming systems, when she only had cheap NES bootlegs. When she was 7, she used to spend her time and lunch money at arcades, there she saw Tekken for the first time, it made her wish for her own gaming console. At age 9 her mother decided to buy her... older sister Playstation or N64. Because she played both before she convinced her sister for Playstation. And so her 9 years of gaming-torment began. She was always alone with her hobbies, but it gave her some favor from guys in her class. But girls hated her, always reffering to her as annoying kid. She never gave up games though, and later when she was bullied she played more. It was that time when she learned lots of english vocabulary, from games. She also atempted some tournaments where she experienced heavy genderism e.g. 'You were beaten by GIRL?!YOU LOSER'. Until she won 2nd place in Soul Calibur 2 no one rescpected her. After she started to chat on forums, she went for gaming events, parties and conventions where she was usualy only girl. And quote years of pirating, searching, magazine reading etc. There is too much more to tell, but to comemorate her gaming years, she tattooed herself 'Devil' tattoo from {{Tekken}}. After she turned 18 she went to the UK where EVERYONE play games. It is a pity for her that she's not that 'special' anymore since she's not the only Gamer Chick here, but hey- she can finally play all the games she could never buy before.

Several years later, she got a few looks of confusion from the boys in her public school class when she said she got GuitarHero for Christmas. Now, she owns- counting handhelds- 6 consoles. OP here updating. The Xbox 360 is now her baby and she owns a DS Lite in lieu of her broken old clunky original DS (which she was still attached to). She also desperately wants Xbox Live so she can whup some ass in RedDeadRedemption's multiplayer mode.

This troper has been berated by her grandmother to 'get off that damn game'. She takes her G-Pak in favor of a purse, and spends quite a bit of time playing her DS. She plays Brawl and GuitarHero on WiFi, and can hold a decent conversation with the upperclassmen about MetalGearSolid. She can hold her own at CallOfDuty, and has several cheats from San Andreas memorized by hand. This troper also owns 14 HarvestMoon games. Say what you will, but girls can be just as devoted as the guys.

This GamerChick was once in a D&D group with three other girls, and one guy whose character was a girl (actually, so many people called her a guy that we decided it was either androgynous or FtM transgender). As a result, our (rather large) party contained four female characters and two male ones.

This troper didn't start playing D&D until she went to college-- an all-female college. Now she runs a game in which all but one of the players are female. Gamer Chicks unite!

This Troper has been playing games for a while now. I play Baldurs Gate II: Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal. I finished LOZ: Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess this year, beaten Halo on easy and got through half of the last level in Halo on Legendary. Beaten FF VIII, FF VII. I can issue a beatdown to my brother on Super Smash Bros. when in the right mood and I've finished Resident Evil 4 and Seperate Ways on the Wii. Seperate Ways without the Chicago typewriter. This female troper only plays video games casually, and doesn't have the skill or patience for anything remotely difficult. Her (also female) best friend in high school was excellent at all sorts of games and loved playing them, so the two of them developed a symbiotic relationship whereby the troper would purchase video games, and ''watch'' her friend play them, because there was no way she could get very far by herself. This female troper's only wish for Christmas 1992 was a Super Nintendo (sadly, she never owned the 8-bit NES, but had played it at friends' houses). She got it, packaged with ''SuperMarioWorld''. This was her first foray into what would become, as of eighteen years later, one of her favorite pastimes, although she doesn't really play as much as she used to. In 1993 she borrowed a little game called ''The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past'' from a friend of her little brother's, and that franchise became an addiction--she now owns (if the GameCube four-games disc counts, although she used to have the N64 cartridges of ''OcarinaOfTime'' and ''Majora's Mask'' before getting her GCN with aforementioned disc packaged with it) every single ''Legend of Zelda'' game except the newest (as of this writing) one, ''SpiritTracks''. She still owns her N64, has recently found it in her closet and hooked it up, and is now re-playing ''BanjoTooie'', one of her all-time favorite games, although she still hates Glitter Gulch Mine and immediately skips to Witchyworld when she has enough Jiggies. This troper's little brother used to get mad at her playing "his" games, most notably ''{{Goldeneye}}'' and ''1080 Snowboarding''. This troper misses playing ''1080 Snowboarding'', which is probably why the yeti race in ''TwilightPrincess'' is her favorite part of that game. Oh, and when she and her brother shared the Super Nintendo, they had ''Street Fighter II Turbo'' and this troper was always either Chun Li or E Honda just so she could hyper-kick (or slap) her little brother's character into a corner. >:D

This troper has been into videogames ever since she watched her dad play Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (although she admittedly took a long time to wean herself off of games where the player character wouldn't die. Long story). While she would qualify for the confrontational personality, though, she's about average in skill and barely even thinks of her gender; she was actually a bit surprised when her high school's yearbook writers asked her if she had any thoughts about being one of the three girls in a 20+ person 3D animation class. She's learned to ignore "girls don't play games" and "girls don't go on the Internet" stereotypes and maybe even laugh with the others (assuming it's actual joking and not a true viewpoint), where a straight version of the trope would probably explode. She's also one of the ten or so world record holders for a level in said game, though she did it by borrowing the strategy of the others'. She would be pursuing an alternate strategy that might net a .1 second reduction if she weren't too busy trying not to flunk out of college, and if preliminary tests hadn't shown poor results. She is also competitive, defensive of her status as a female gamer, and generally fitting of the stereotype. She is not, however, extremely tomboyish (hates pants, loves kitties, etc.) and is not hot. She also sticks to "kiddy" games because they cause her less problems with her failing eyesight and usually have SoBadItsGood writing.

The other 13 players, all male, spent the entirety of the game asking for pix, tits or gtfo, that sort of thing. The girls spent the entirety of the game destroying their asses and winning by a landslide.

This troper's specialties are [=RPG=]s, Strategy, and Puzzle Games (To add to that, she is a brunette), but that dosen't stop her from pwning you at Platformers and Racing Games. The other genres she is average at.

This troper has owned a game system of some sort since her good ol' Atari. Which had to be given up to receive a Nintendo for Christmas. Which was followed up with a Sega Genesis, on which Street Fighter II (and its various incarnations) were rather maniacally played, the original gray brick Game Boy, and the black brick Sega Game Gear. Current systems? All of the named plus Game Boy Colour, PS 1, XBOX 360 (bought solely to play Street Fighter IV), Wii, and a Nintendo DS that was originally received as a joke; it was pink. And promptly sold to buy a black and red Dragon DS. The most fun ever had been playing fighting games at the roller rink (showing my age there...) and systematically beating my fellow male skaters. Viciously. To the point of having my arms pinned to allow the others to win. (Note: it didn't work.) And I'm a fairly average player.

This troper grew up with video games, and looks for worthy friends to add to her too short list in RockBand and Beatles Rock Band. I don't take the game as complete SeriousBusiness (I hope), and YES, I do know it's nothing like playing actual instruments, so don't come to me about that. Thus he was astonished at the discrimination against them (particularly out there in EagleLand; do a Google search on a certain ''Hellkitten'' to find out what it was all about) when internet gaming boomed in the late 90's and subconsiously became a kind of feminist supporter. Still, watching any GamerChick kick the shit out of guys in any video game is an amusing watch. His most fond memory involved a LAN game during a CounterStrike tournament in around 1999 - there was one girl (the only girl in the LAN game) who was so good at Quake3 that when one of the CounterStrike clan leaders challenged her to a one-on-one deathmatch, she simply wiped the floor with his ass, as he only got 1 point the whole game while her score kept climbing. It got funnier when he secretly sent each of his {{Mook}}s one at a time to take his place, only for the poor slobs to get beaten black and blue just the same. This was followed by a multiplayer all out deathmatch game with this troper and the girl taking part as well as those CS clan members. After all the carnage, the girl had the highest score with over 200 points, this troper finishing 2nd with just half as many points, and so on. These days, this troper has a few GamerChick friends who share his passion of playing ''WanganMidnight Maximum Tune'', especially this young friend of his who tears up the track along with her dad and little brother. See this video of her battling her brother to see how good she is. Most recently, this troper is into the GuitarHero games (though still not that good as to play above Easy level), and just a couple of weeks ago watched with his mouth agape a young girl shredding a song in the arcades at Expert level (though not quite as good as TheEcstacy, but pretty close).

This Troper fits this to a T. I played my first video game when I was ''two'', as my uncle had figured out how to teach me to press the fire button (he did most of the stuff, I pressed fire). The same uncle then gave me a Game Boy Colour and Pokémon Red. To this day, I am a Pokémon fanatic, and I play [=JRPGs=], fighting games, etc. until my parent make me come off the console. Other than Pokémon, I'm considered the best Brawl player amongst her closest friends and the best female Brawl player amongst her larger group of friends. Also, last year this troper versed two older boys in Mario Kart DS, a game that she never played before and somehow WON the overall challenge.

Although I wouldn't really consider myself a GamerChick, I have beaten a few NintendoHard games on my own, and I like [=RPGs=], platformers, and the occasional BulletHell game when I feel risky. However, I don't really have anyone to compete with (and I don't really want to...) since a lot of the games I have are the ones that the people I know ''don't''. During my early video gaming years on the {{SNES}}, I could never compare to my older cousin, who was practically a Gaming Goddess. Even now, despite being a lot more skilled at the same games, I still can't pull off a SuperMarioWorld or DonkeyKongCountry run with anything approaching the gracefulness she showed at it. I don't like to be defined by gender, but I can't deny my love for video games. As a kid I was a casual gamer who owned a NES and PS1, playing games like DuckHunt, SuperMarioBros, DrMario, as well as CrashBandicoot, AceCombat, SpyroTheDragon among others. I had a bit of a fall-out after that, and it was only during the early 2007-ish did my game spirit rekindle through PC! Most of the genres I play these days are AdventureGame, ActionAdventure, and [=RPGs=] (BioWare fangirl, ahoy!). And if it isn't because of my overbearing parents, I ''would'' be a full-scale gamer, but they want me focus on my studies and all that. Doesn't stop me from playing in the middle of the night though- on my ''laptop''. I never play for competitiveness though. This troper hesitates to call herself a Gamer Chick. On one hand, she ''has'' played at least one Pokemon game from each generation. She also played a number of other games as child... But can't recall ever finishing any of them. She may be on the way to ''becoming'' one. After playing KingdomHearts (partly because of her curiosity about it, and partly because of the Disney), she has suddenly found herself interested about the FinalFantasy series. I've been this since I was really little, when my Dad introduced me to the first Doom game. I grew up playing games like MetalGearSolid and CommandAndConquerRedAlert with my boy mates, and I'm a now huge fan of MassEffect games and have been steadily working through the {{Fallout}} series. I'll also hopefully be taking this to its logical extreme, as I'll start studying games development in September in the hopes of one day working with games!

This troper first became a gamer after getting addicted to Pokemon when she was 8. Ever since then, her brother (who introduced her to the game in the first place) has shown her adventure and action games, more specifically shooter games. She wasn't too good at first but she's getting better (her aim's not that great). One time she brought home a rented copy of Dead Rising 2 and began playing it. Unbeknowst to her, her brother started streaming said gameplay on his gaming channel. Cue to an hour later, when her brother finally tells her and mentions some of the comments (like "your sis plays zombies games? that's so cool!")

Same troper as above but with a different story: I have a Gears of War T-shirt that I glomped on the first time seeing it in a thrift store. Nowadays whenever I wear it I usually get comments from guys saying it's cool that I play it. One time when I was in the mall with my mom, a guy who was sitting in a table next to us with his girlfriend and kid noticed it and started talking to me about it, even asking my Gamertag so we could play together. (I said no, considering he was a complete stranger, but it was still kinda cool.)
