BrainyBrunette
#16466
This Troper has natural brown hair and has (according to my parents) the most GCSE's in her family. If I get into university, I'll also be the first person to do that in my family as well. I'm also blessed with the gift of a fantastic memory, which is incredibly useful in my language classes, and is probably the reason why I have such a natural knack for languages, which is the one subject area everyone has warned is one of the hardest.
#16467
This Troper is black with natural dark brown hair. She is always the top in her class and the second in the whole grade. However, the first in the grade is a blonde girl, and it's been like that for the past 2 years.
#16468
This Troper is also black with natural dark brown hair. I'm in the top 5 of my class. Everyone else in the top 5 has brown hair as well. Makes sense though we're all Hispanic or Black.
#16469
This troper is one, as well as being a {{Genius Sweet Tooth}}. Because I am awesome like that. :3
#16470
This troper and her younger sister. I don't consider myself sexy and my sister is too young to have sex appeal (11 years old), though she's a cutie, but we tend to accidentally wow people with our intelligence and knack for memorizing random facts, as well as my sister's mini-WaifProphet statements. Several of my aunts, one uncle (who now shaves his head and looks like Lex Luthor), and several of my friends fall into this trope as well.
#16471
This troper is a proud brunette and can spout facts like no tomorrow, is a spelling and grammar nazi, and is in every academic activity at school. Also, two or her friends are blond and are also super smart. One once IMed this troper saying, "Hello. It is [Friend'sNameHere]. I am currently at [MutualFriend'sName] residence. It is nice to converse with you." 0.o
#16472
Are you me?
#16473
This troper has an IQ of 157, and nearly black hair. His sister averts this, though. Her hair is the same colour, and her IQ is 85.
#16474
At this troper's high school, 6 out of the top 10 students in her graduating class, including both the valedictorian and salutatorian, were natural blonde females (the remaining 4 were brown-haired males). The aforementioned troper happened to be one of these girls, and ''greatly'' dislikes blonde jokes and people using "blondeness" as an excuse for stupidity and ditziness.
#16475
This troper's girlfriend is a proud brunette, and she took the SAT's when she was 12, has a GPA of 100.5, and has taken or is taking all AP courses the school offers, in addition to some courses offered by the local community college.
#16476
This person of stature has brown hair and is, of course, smarter than you. While it is true that said person is intelligent in the general sense, this applies more directly to his or her uncanny ability to memorize seemingly useless or trivial information without trying.
#16477
Are you me?
#16478
This troper is naturally blonde and is in the top of her class. Although blonde jokes don't bother me because everyone adds EXCEPT you to them.
#16479
This troper takes all AP classes, and almost everyone in these classes has brown hair. Maybe it's just the country she lives in, but...
#16480
This troper has brown hair and has always been TheSmartGuy in his family. Also, his graduating class in high school had brunettes for both the valedictorian (a guy) and salutatorian (a girl -- who I incidentally had a huge, unrequited crush on).
#16481
I had a huge and widely-known crush on the ''blonde'' Valedictorian.
#16482
Me. I got all the book smarts, and my blonde sister got all the glamour, charm, and beauty, not to mention being... well endowed enough for the two of us, IfYouKnowWhatIMean. Yes, we are a textbook case of TheGloriousWarOfSisterlyRivalry that is ColorCodedForYourConvenience.
#16483
This troper likes to think of himself as one of these. He also married one. Our children, however, will probably resemble Laharl from {{Disgaea}}.
#16484
Troper here has pitch black hair, and people keep saying to her that she's extremely intelligent. Even then she doesn't really think so.
#16485
The valedictorian of this troper's high school class was quiet, unobtrusive, nice, at the top of all her AP classes... and blonde as sunshine. Trope, consider yourself subverted. So much for dumb blondes.
#16486
This troper gets straight A's and is the reason her team for her history class' "Jeopardy"-style review wins often(and freaked out when she chose to be scorekeeper). People ask her if she just reads the textbooks. She actually leans more towards BrilliantButLazy in that regard, though. She just has a good memory for facts she will never use in life.
#16487
This troper has better than average intelligence and fits this trope as a male example. He also counts as being BrilliantButLazy. One roleplay character of his, however, is a better example of a BrainyBrunette.
#16488
This troper has black hair, and has a large knowledge of several things ranging from anime, to various science stuff, odd bits of math, the meanings of somewhat complicated words, and various ways to get stuff either for cheap or free. Subverted if you take into account I got mostly D's and C's during my first three years of high school, got almost straight A's senior year though.
#16489
This troper's ex-wife: brunette, accomplished writer and a successful management consultant. Also got through college with flying colors (no pun intended) and very little studying.
#16490
*modesty switch off* Me. Brown hair, consistently high marks at school, and an impressive degree of general knowledge. *modesty switch on*
#16491
Pretty much my entire family: both parents, me, and my sister. All four of us have hair colors ranging from brown to black and high IQ (though focused in different ways; I'm the math/computers geek, my sister's the poet).
#16492
Bro? That you?
#16493
This troper has dark brown hair and an IQ of 135. She is also BrilliantButLazy, except when it comes to studying or writing about film, television, and occasionally other forms of media.
#16494
...did I edit this page at one point and my memory of it was wiped?
#16495
This Tropette is very much this. While my grades may be... lacking, I excel at actual experiments and other technical or hands-on activities. I read too often and memorize facts for fun. While I'm intelligent, I'm actually Brawn of BeautyBrainsAndBrawn. My two closest friends are brains and beauty.
#16496
Strangely enough, this troper started out blonde and became a brunette over time. Her grades and performance in school improved significantly over the same amount of time.
#16497
This troper is dating one, and loving every second of it.
#16498
MiniKaylee has just finished eighth grade, was in honors geometry, and will be taking all honors classes in high school next year.
#16499
I fit this trope quite well. I love reading, math, writing, memorizing things, and have shoulder length brown hair. My sister, on the other hand, is quite smart and has blond hair, and has taken to replying to blonde jokes with the question "Why was the red-head lying in the ditch? She told one too many blonde jokes."
#16500
This troper is one, and hangs around in a pack of three BrainyBrunette males (though one admittedly leans more toward "golden brown").
#16501
In this troper's life: This troper herself (graduated with honors from one of the top five highschools in her home state without realizing she'd managed to do it until someone told her so), her girlfriend (knows more about fairy tales and European mythology than can possibly be healthy), her two best friends (one's barreling towards a sociology doctorate; the other is simultaneously taking Chinese and Russian ''and excelling in both'', planning on a political career; both are consistently on the Dean's List at their university), her mother (went back to school to become a nurse, after being a homemaker with a political science degree for sixteen years, and gradutated first in her class), her younger sister (in honors at this troper's alma mater)...
#16502
Everyone I know thinks I'm brilliant, although I don't. I happen to know several blondes who are much smarter than I am (and I can verify this by looking at SAT scores.) but still think they're dumber than I am. I also know a few truly stupid brunettes. (Including one who was an intellectual all through elementary school and middle school, but upon reaching high school dyed her hair blonde and immediately became the typical cheerleader.) I guess I play this one straight, subvert it, invert it, and avert it all at once.
#16503
This troper is brunette and is taking all honors classes while getting mostly A's with an occasional B. Though, many of my friends question my intelligence on a frequent basis.
#16504
This troper has off-black hair and a pale complexion, and is a self-admitted nerd.
#16505
Are you me?
#16506
This troper has dark brown hair, and can easily achieve As in the subjects that interest her, although she has issues with things she's not interested in, you can tell which courses she likes and doesn't like by looking at her grades, the ones she likes are nearly always As the ones she doesn't like are often a trainwreck. She has a particular interest in languages and has taken beginners courses in 4 languages, including Latin and done well in all of them. She has an excellent memory for facts, and knows a lot of random stuff about science, and other things.
#16507
Hi there. So, I know this whole "Are you me?" thing is overrated, but... ''Are you me?!''
#16508
Yo, nearly my whole family are brainy and brunette. My friend is naturally blonde and about the same intelligence as me though.
#16509
This troper is usually at the top of her class in English, History, Art and other language based classes...but she is utterly horrible at math. Has to be an exception for everyone, right? Essentially, she is also BrilliantButLazy, only really trying when it suits her, but she gets 80's in everything but math anyways. Her immediate family also falls into here- smart, but not in math.
#16510
This trope and DumbBlonde used to make this troper want to dye her hair brown, but I've decided I prefer subversion. Besides, the HairofGold (which I don't mind not subverting, 'cause it's a less popular trope than BlondesAreEvil) is probably my best feature and provides a humorous excuse for sleep-deprivation-induced ditziness.
#16511
This troper, her OneeSama and her mom are all brunettes (though her OneeSama's hair has been dyed) and are known by their friends as rather brainy.
#16512
This troper (Umiyuri Papaeyra) used to be compared to Hermione in every fashion (except for being an {{Otaku}}). Her recent examinations prove the connection - the only class she didn't do well in is the one class where there was no consistency between lessons, and even then she still passed with an average grade.
#16513
Played straight by the valedictorian of my high school graduating class. She was of modest height, had dark hair that looked more black than brown, and wore contacts most of the time (except for a few rare occasions.) Subverted by ''many'' others in the same class, male and female. DumbBlonde was likewise played straight and subverted a-plenty by the same class.
#16514
This troper has two friends. Both graduated last year from Lyceum (Think high-school). One of them has black hair the other blonde. The blonde one got the best grade of her class in the hardest subject.
#16515
Four of This Troper's FiveManBand are brunettes, two of them are brainy (not genius-level brainy, mind you, but still). We also have two ditzy but loveable brunettes and a BookDumb blonde.
#16516
When this troper was little she would read loads of science books, on topics such as: meteorology, seismology, historic eras (Paleozoic, Mesozoic, prehistoric Cenozoic), loads of animal stuff, and especially astronomy. At five years old, this troper knew stuff about astronomy that most high school students and adults did not know. In fact, at age 7, she was asked for astronomy help by her high school junior brother and his friends. Now, she gets straight As ( she does work hard, though). She's pretty much always fit this trope.
#16517
I like to think I'm a BrainyBrunette. I wouldn't consider myself super hot, but I do use fun words that no one else uses (English major) and I write and discuss books for fun. Also, I have a pair of black-rimmed glasses (even though I usually wear contacts).
#16518
Subverted by this tropers clas: The smartest one is blond. Double subverted as the second-most-smart has brown hair.
#16519
This troper has short brown hair, wears glasses, has no skill in any sport except long-distance running, and takes multiple AP classes.
#16520
This troper is so smart that it freaks people out sometimes. She is a brunette with glasses who enjoys languages especially, but also rocks at math.
#16521
This troper counts as one. Her hair is dark brown and she is gifted and has an IQ of 150, and excels in most subjects. Her parents would also, as they are self-proclaimed nerds with brown hair with Phds and they're authors and researchers about Spanish history.
#16522
This Troper subverts this trope. Although she's perhaps halfway to this trope because her hair is brownish blond, she is nevertheless blond, and is perhaps one of the smartest people in her grade, acing her finals without studying and able to spout of random facts on a whim. Perhaps this can be attributed to her wearing glasses, but nevertheless she considers herself a "smart blond." Unfortunately, she's also a Grammar Nazi.
#16523
Odd subversion with this troper, who used to be blondish, but has got browner and browner hair as he's got older. He used to be top in his class, but has gradually slipped with the darkening of his hair, and is pretty much at the bottom now.
#16524
My friend is a perfect example of this trope. She's a Yale graduate (thanks to a scholarship), IQ around 175, speaks English, French, Spanish (her native language) and a bunch other languages perfectly, and published her first novel at age 17. Her eyes and hair are the darkest brown. This troper is the inverse, a dirty blond-haired BookDumb guy who's very much in love with her.
#16525
This troper has dark brown hair, an academic scholarship, a knack for learning things which I can never be bothered to use, a good memory to the point of freaking people out, bookcases stocked with classic literature and nonfiction, a complete and utter inability to do any kind of sport, and glasses.
#16526
This troper isn't as good of an example of one but everyone in this troper's grade thinks he's really smart and is sort of above average when it comes to grades (except math...blehh) and knows a lot of different facts and it kind of confuses some of his friends when they don't know what they're talking about. But he is only mildly attractive...(aka, plain looking) His sister on the other hand is a better example though. She can appear to be TheDitz (Which is her BerserkButton if she get's mistaken for one) but is actually really smart and took 10th grade classes in her freshmen year in high school.
#16527
This troper and her girlfriend met cute when the girlfriend was the only one to laugh at the troper's Schrodinger's cat joke. We were both on academic scholarships, and both have long brown hair, though the troper's is reddish in sunlight and the girlfriend's is blonde in the summer.
#16528
I have brown hair and glasses and everyone automatically assumes I'm a genius. I feel like half my life is living up this stereotype people expect of me. You just know it would have all been different if I'd never had glasses.
#16529
This troper and his four brothers all feel more quick witted and have a bigger pool of general knowledge compared to most people he meets (Note: This does not apply to people who specialize in a certain field.) if only he didn't have ADHD he could do a bit more than just browse TV Tropes all day.
#16530
This troper is one, along with the whole BrainySpecs effect. However, most people don't know I'm more dorky than smart...
#16531
This girl has light brown hair, and has been in the top places of her class for the past three years. Especially in English Class (my native language is Spanish).
#16532
This troper has dark brown/black hair (although not ShinyMidnightBlack) and fits the trope. Averted, however, with one of her best friends who is blonde, and completely brilliant.
#16533
While I'm not a genius, I'm kind of smart but lazy in that I do well in school but could probably do better If I wasn't such a RidiculousProcrastinator. As for my hair color... well, let's just say it varies. I'm naturally blonde, but haven't really seen my natural hair color for about six years. Usually, I dye my hair brown (hence the trope), but have also had red, blue and purple hair at various points.
#16534
This troper is a brunette with hair that's almost black. She's a spelling and grammar nazi, reading college textbooks in seventh grade, counting pi up to a thousand places when she's bored, and possesses a vocabulary that has people scratching their heads and reaching for dictionaries. She also has a ton of friends who are redheads and blondes, and they're all people who could qualify as 'geeks'.
#16535
This troper isn't sure if she just seems smarter than she is, with our school districts usual expectations ridiculously low. Many kids don't learn how to multiply or divide fractions until seventh grade, and at least at the elementary school I went to, we learned that in second or third grade. Really, though, I'm not particularly smart. I just have a lot of interests, and have an actually good memory. But onto bragging about myself, to match the other tropers. I'm fluent in three different languages, and I picked up a surprising amount of Japanese from my weeaboo phase. I skipped a grade of math, and on most days, the only studying I do is for things unrelated to school. And I have brown hair. How amazing.
#16536
Me. An introverted bookworm with almost black hair, fitting the stereotype even down to the glasses. My little brother, who has light brown hair, is a complete inversion, spending his spare time on cartoons and video games when I used to be surrounded by popular science books at his age.
#16537
I suppose I would seriously fit this trope. I have chestnut hair and have read ''Universe In A Nutshell'' by Stephen Hawking when I was five. Sadly, I'm also BrilliantButLazy and tend to get distracted quite a bit.
#16538
This troper would be one if he was female. So, to be relevant... out of the four girls in his class, the brunette is the most studious, but the best grades go to one of the blondes. The brunette uses reading glasses, the blonde doesn't use any. So... subversion?
#16539
What do you mean, 'if you were female'? I thought male examples could still count...
#16540
This troper dyes it and got a pair of NerdGlasses specifically to invoke this. She was rather smart to begin with, but dirty blonde hair just wasn't the same.
#16541
This brunette (female) troper is a Brilliant But Lazy Perky Goth:
#16542
Like other Tropers on this page, I have a good memory (which comes in handy because I read multiple books at the same time), and I have a knack for remembering random facts. I am a grammar Nazi, picked up French quite easily despite being told that it's a difficult language, and surprised some French tourists on the bus while coming home from school by talking to them in their language. (One of them turned to his friend and said, "She speaks French!") When I was in Kindergarten, my teacher called home after seeing me read and told Mom that I was at a Third Grade reading level. I also surprise people by being well-spoken and more mature than some people my age (I'm 20 going on 21).
#16543
The "Lazy" part comes in because I was diagnosed with ADD (NOT the same thing as ADHD!!!) when I was twelve, so this is what keeps me from completely following through on most of the stories I begin to write. I never got good grades in school, and I sometimes act like the 19 year-olds I hang out with. (Not that I'm immature or anything, I'm just young at heart.) I also have a quirky sense of humor. I do have the Brainy Brunette appearance, though, but because I also LOOK young (16 at the youngest), it polarizes between cute and beautiful or sexy. I have curly brown hair and have to wear glasses (Emo glasses, in this case) because I'm nearsighted. If I don't straighten my hair for ease of care I'll put it up into pig-tails. Because of this I tend to be Adorkable, unless I dress up for special occasions.
#16544
Every person in this Troper's family has dark/brown hair. Every person in this Troper's family has an IQ of above 130, her's being the highest at 176.
