PunnyName
#106290
This troper is thinking of creating a fanime, a sequel of sorts to Sailor Moon, inspired by the original [=DiC=] pitch reel and her own crazy imagination. It's called Sailor Shadow, and I'm planning to give the characters {{Punny Name}}s (sometimes last names, sometimes both first and last) both in Japanese ''and'' English. Here is the list: #QUOTE# Yomi Kageno #QUOTE# Dana Tucker (Sailor Shadow) (not really much of a punny last name unless you really ''really'' '''''really''''' think about it) #QUOTE# Ikuko Mizuno #QUOTE# Sapphire Waters (Sailor Sapphire) (''waaaaaaaay'' too obvious, I know, but I wasn't going to use '''Blue''', for *honk*'s sake! And yes, [=DiC=] were planning to rename Ami-chan "'''''Blue'''''". Thank God they eventually went with "Amy"!) #QUOTE# Tsukasa Hino #QUOTE# Victoria Day (Sailor Sun) (I don't care if there's already a webcomic and a fic, I'm having my Sailor Sun and using her! ...That Came Out Horribly Wrong.) #QUOTE# Emiko Barano #QUOTE# Amy Rose (Sailor Wild Rose) (random, I know) #QUOTE# Kitana Barano #QUOTE# Sarah Rose (Sailor Black Rose) (and yes, the two are sisters. NonIdenticalTwins, in fact.) #QUOTE# Mikuru Kino #QUOTE# Carrie Underwood (SailorEarth) #QUOTE# Kairi Kazeno #QUOTE# Bella Breeze (Sailor Cyclone) (don't ask about the dub surname, 'twas all I could come up with, I swear! J-Just wait until you see the English last names of Sailors Winter, Spring and Sunset, then you'll ''know'' I was just randomly making *honk* up!) #QUOTE# Saya Hoshino #QUOTE# Jade Starr (Sailor Charon) #QUOTE# Aiko Aino #QUOTE# Charlotte Valentine (Sailor Heart) (I-I-I'll make up some useful attacks for her, I swear! S-She'll be as good as, if not better than, Sailor Venus! HEART IS AN AWESOME POWER!!!!) #QUOTE# Rena Kageno #QUOTE# Nina Tucker (Sailor Chibi Shadow) (this time around, she's the main character's younger sister instead of her daughter from the future, and I will try to make her as likable for international audiences as I possibly can) #QUOTE# Fumiko Nichibotsu #QUOTE# Zoe Dusk (Sailor Sunset) (she is not of my own creation, my friend Bella made her up one night over the phone [she lives all the way over in Melbourne, Victoria while I'm stuck here in dreary old Tasmania]. I just created the English and Japanese civilian names.) #QUOTE# Chiaki Kaioh #QUOTE# Eve Fisher (Sailor Ocean) (Bella made this one, too, and I provided the names) #QUOTE# Mayumi Yūgure #QUOTE# Ebony White (Sailor Twilight) (see above - oh, and think carefully about the name "Ebony White") #QUOTE# Setsuka Fuyuno #QUOTE# Crystal Snowflake (Sailor Winter) #QUOTE# Yuna Akino #QUOTE# Ruby Oak (Sailor Autumn) #QUOTE# Mimi Natsuno #QUOTE# Maya Summers (Sailor Summer) #QUOTE# Sakura Haruno #QUOTE# Lily Blossom (Sailor Spring) (''whew!'')

This troper lives on the reservation, and old native names that were acceptable back in the day, are now puns, even when it comes to playing games like Halo. When Eric Takes-The-Gun and Jonathan Shoots Face decide to play, the game fixates solely upon them.
#106292
This troper has a classmate named "Mike Hunt." Saying it really fast.. Well, needless to say somebody picked up on it and Mike soon became the butt of many jokes.

#106298
Robin Banks is actually the name of the narrator of ''{{Mythbusters}}'' in the UK.
#106299
Bernie Madoff. He is man who swindled many investors in Wall Street out of '''billions''' of dollars. My professor made a pun on his last name, where she said that Bernie "Madoff" (pronounced made-off) with people's money.

And, of course, '''Burn'''ie.
#106301

#106302
People at MSN call me Alien, because my name is just a two letters switch of being it, so, I guess it counts... Acting alien to the society standards doesn't help, either. Drop me a line?

Borderline example: My surname is an old Cornish one allegedly derived from the Spanish 'Diego'. (Presumably a distant ancestor of mine swam ashore from the Spanish Armada and talked his way of getting thrown back in, which is pretty cool.) My parents knew this, but nevertheless christened me 'James'. Ha bloody ha.
#106333
This Troper's orchestra includes a percussionist named Tom. Once, when he was having trouble playing his part, the conductor asked him what the problem was. Not one to pass up a stealth pun, he replied "This part calls for 5 toms, but there's only 4 here." His kit only has 3 toms.
#106334
Gaye Males is unfortunate.
#106335
There is no way this Troper's knowing someone named Peter Johnson was not the result of his parents not being able to resist the pun. Either that, or they made a subconscious pun. On a personal note, this Troper's main character in stories is named Storm Carter. That in itself isn't a pun, but it seems no matter what I choose his sister's name to be, even on the fly, I can somehow connect it to a pun or meaningful name. Officially, his sister's name is Serenity Carter (opposites, storms and serenity) but I've also used May. Which then led me to later think "April showers bring May flowers". Storm's birthday is in April. Lord help me.
#106336
In the same vein as the 'Peter Johnson' example, there was someone in this Troper's high school named Randy Johnson. There was much amusement when my friends and I discovered him in the yearbook.

#106366
This troper's name is something Bunker Hill. I hate my parents.
#106367
Subversion: My full birth name was Christopher Adam Barber; the pun should be obvious if you were to make an acronym using my initials. When I was adopted, my surname got changed to Christianson. My half-sister still plays the trope straight the same exact way, considering her name is Corina Ann Battle.
#106368
This troper overheard a conversation by some kids (second graders) today. It began with people reading off the address of a board game maker and saying something like "What if you were surnamed Street? How would people find you? That'd be confusing." HilariousInHindsight if you mentioned Ghostcrawler or his real name.
