A pot shot at William Gibson's complaining about Shadowrun not giving him credit. It's less of a take that than above, but whatever.

His AlternateHistory WorldWarTwo story fires off some in the way of typically angry, smug political blogs of whatever political tendency, starting with a Tom Tomorrow {{Expy}} angrily ranting with a thinly veiled Sean Hannity over blowing away Nazis. If you've got a political stance, expect it to be mocked.

The UniversalStudios tour he took today of the Special Effects had the host gleefully spousing OneLiners chock-full of take thats. No, I have nothing against this one alike to Doom and Fatal Racing/Whiplash, I prefer original MIDIs to their literal HQ ''replacements'', not ''arrangements''), but I'm really sick of those who adds "CD version is better than MIDI soundtarck just because it's fucked up MIDI, ololol!" as an arguement.

This troper's classmate did a presentation involving pretending to be him based on some information she was given about him. One of the bits of info asked about his favorite ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' character; he answered the question by simply saying that he has never watched or read it. She said at the end of her presentation, "And, I don't get all the hype about ''Twilight''." Half the audience (consisting of other classmates) cheered.

During a different skit, this troper played the part of a character who was talking to his friends about what he doesn't like about his wife. The character's issues with the wife? Said issues involve the wife cheating with a guy who he describes as being very pale, stalkerish, very old, and sparkly.

This troper had a simliar experience: after his classmates found out he had a great Announcer Voice, they urged him to pretend like he was narrating a movie trailer. His response? "Coming this fall! ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'', a very stupid movie about a bunch of stupid teenagers." Guess what happened next.

This troper and a friend once made a video for a class that contained a TakeThat to the friend's cheating boyfriend. The girl he cheated with was in that class. Much to our disappointment, hilarity did not ensue.

This troper once had an English exam in which they were given a text to analyse that he found utterly incomprehensible. He decided to give the English staff a TakeThat in the form of a creative writing piece that was similarly incomprehensible, but had the themes that the exam required. Hilariously, the teachers couldn't understand it. Not so hilariously, he didn't get a good mark for it.

You know those pages on exams or tests that say "Please do not write on this page"? This Troper wrote Why? right under the message.

Although, I did get a halfway-decent moment when some guy claimed he did my mom, to which I replied, "I know you're lying. My mother is heterosexual, which means she's not interested in anything that doesn't have a dick." Everyone else thought it was funny, but there was a lot of room for a devastating counterattack...

This troper is very malicious when it comes to dishing out the TakeThat's. In his stories he usually casts people he hates as enemy characters. He also is fond of making fun of Tom Hanks on numerous occasions and when doing so often has a Psychotic Smirk on his face. In the latest adventure story he wrote titled The Adventures Of Doc M featuring former Amiright parodist Dr Music as the hero, he made Red Ant, Chucky G, Agrimorfee, Annie Are You Okay and Andria the villains- he made Agrimorfee a vicious Tim Burtonesque Chimera-like creature called the Agrigorbeast, He made a Red Ant a BrundleFly Expy, he made Chucky G a Jabba the hutt like character with the upper body of a human and the lower body of a Hutt (basically like a male version of Queen Slug For A Butt from ''Earthworm Jim''), he made Annie a vampire and a a sneaky, and not to mention dealdy Baroness and he also made Andria into a villainess who can turn into a black widow spider. He also likes to have these particular enemy characters killed off. He also makes Deadpan Snarker remarks about most things.

This troper had a great TakeThat in his [=DnD=] campaign...Basically, the [=PCs=] were riding in a carriage and threw a body out the window (Another PC, long story). I had it hit a brooding ChaoticGood drow ranger. With two scimitars.

This troper has had to hit himself several times to avoid putting further {{TakeThat}}s on TvTropes. That's why the {{Wangst}} page doesn't contain the phrase "Wait, does Simple Plan really count as music?"

{{Andrusi}} plays several characters at a popular LiveJournal-based roleplay. One of them got involved in a plot that involved her kissing another character (''once''). Someone then made an anonymous post elsewhere, mischaracterizing him as playing the character as being in a permanent loop of kissing random characters and then acting victimized (and encouraged him to "go join a sex RP," since as we all know kissing is sex). Andrusi promptly found, and took advantage of, an opportunity for the character to comment on this idea (saying it "would just be silly") while staying in character.

This troper is (at the time this was written) in the planning stages of a story about a young American Mage that is admittedly inspired by Harry Potter (the premise of a Mage who lives in modern society), but will take shots at the series, particularly this exchange (which hasn't been perfected): #QUOTE# '''Girl''': "Um, I don't see your wand. Hell, they've got MUCH better names. Colin Warhawk, for instance. It's an alias (his real name is Colin Stevenson), but it still kicks ass. And it means NOTHING. It's just meant to be badass.

In fact, I tend to do this in some of my stories against people, concepts and/or things I just don't like. I once wrote a story about a scientologist and a neo-pagan with the pagan basically saying that it only cost him $100 to become a neo-pagan, and that's only on his ritual gear. It's an obvious criticism of the Church of Scientology's costs to be a member. Hell, it's one big Take That against the Church of Scientology. However, it's been discontinued.

Sports figures are not even close to being safe with me. I've also got a Digimon fanfic where an OC calls Jim Rome a "douchebag".

Similarly, This Troper is working on a series of Superhero novels. The MIB, while not evil, are ObstructiveBureaucrat s that control the only team of American Superheroes after legislation that made a join or retire statement. It's implied that the universe is worse off because their is no threat that could use a team of the best Superheroes and that they are prevented from actually protecting people because that isn't in the MIB's interest. Guess what I'm calling out.

My most recent piece for Expository Writing is an opening for a future vampire novel. The vampires are all gathered around a fire. The over-subtlety of the scene who cause people to miss the fact that they are burning a book. The only indication of a TakeThat is one of them saying "Even the fire doesn't want it." Can't figure it out yet?

Genius. Pure genius.

I have since added a much more vicious TakeThat where one of the main characters captures a "vegetarian" vampire for another character to study. The "vegetarian" vampire is malnourished and one of the character's says that vampires can't do anything else but drink human blood.

What, no Tru Blood?

Nope, and for the hat trick, I had a fight scene between a vampire and a [[InsistentTerminology lycan fight, throwing out insults until the werewolf calls the vampire "Edward Cullen." The vampire demands the insult be taken back.

This troper is writing a fan-fic set in the Marvel Universe where two characters are complaining about NASA not getting enough funding. One goes "Gee, can't they just take some money from SHIELD? It's not like they're running around locking up superhumans?"

Later, when two characters are touring a space center, the tour guide goes "And the space station modules are assembled here.", prompting one character to turn to the other and go "And YOU thought they were all made in Taiwan!", after the line from Armageddon.

When this troper's uncle died suddenly, they had to rush to put together a funeral. I don't come from a relgious family, but we would up with a relgious cerimony, including a clergyman who decided that a man's FUNERAL was a good time to try to convert his family. This did not please my family. AT ALL. However, after the clergyman finished, it was time for the ending song for the funeral. It just so happened that my Uncle Gary (who was not a relgious man) had specified as to what music he wanted played. It was Flight of the Valcaries, and it was LOUD. The clergyman was not happy. Afterwards, there was one thing everyone said: "Gary won". Sort of a metiphisical take that if you ask me.

This troper is thinking about forming a ''{{Tetris}}''-playing clan called "Hero SB," which stands for He'''nk '''Ro'''gers '''S'''ucks '''B'''alls]], in response to the ExecutiveMeddling that The Tetris Company has done to block future releases of Arika's ''Tetris: The Grand Master'' series.

During this troper's Literary Theory class, we were required to write a paper analyzing an old movie called ''The Piano'', and her professor was extremely enamored of a certain couple of characters and had a very definite opinion of the movie's plot and what it represented. This troper's response paper went in completely the opposite direction, evaluating the professor's favorite characters as the root cause of more-or-less everything bad that happened during the movie. She was failed on the response paper, but it was worth it, since she kept an A average for the semester.

I devised the {{Discontinuity}} drug, a deadlier extension of Torchwood's {{retcon}} drug, for TVTropesTheTVShow partially as a TakeThat to those who rampantly pothole {{Discontinuity}} everywhere.

This troper had a collaboration fanfiction written about KingdomHearts. More or less ChainOfMemories, since this was done in 2004. Almost all the time, this troper was bothered about how they wanted to see his emotionless nobody fall in love with of all things...the stupid clumsy muscleman who absolutely ''hated'' his character and would have crushed him if "The Superior" wouldn't crush and expel him for murder. The TakeThat was when they started to just screw with each other to taunt the fans and try and show them '''why''' those two would ''never'' think of each other as anything other than annoyances, and that they would never be in a positive relationship with each other outside of hell.

I do this to Twilight in nearly all my written work. Clearly, I need to get over myself.

Eh, this troper got bored when writing a post for a Pokémon play-by-post role playing forum. Perhaps defeating this Rival POOPHEAD symbolized what he wanted to do all his life; conquer the smarmy jerks who always bested him in everything. Since he couldn't do that in real life, he once again turned back to Pokémon to give him the satisfaction of finally defeating the bullies. #QUOTE#This kid is your childhood. This troper generally avoids putting TakeThat's into his work, mostly since they tend to be stupid and quickly outdated. He has, however, put a TakeThat at the creative writing department in. Needless to say no one in said department picked up on it. Because the creative writing department at UCSC is staffed entirely by morons who are bitter that their books dont sell.

This troper had a friend that plays Xbox Live and repeatedly comes across foreigners that apparently DidNotDoTheResearch in that they do not know that countries such as the UK and France are allied with America. They repeatedly mocked the fact that we'd gotten bombed on 9/11. My friend's response? Bring up the London Underground bombing crisis. They were silent for about 10 minutes.

This troper wrote an unsent yet eloquent, and sophisticated TakeThat poison pen letter about his evil early-30s bible-thumping/bible-bashing ex-girlfriend. It may be a use of DidNotDoTheResearch on his part but he did use the Shakespearian insult GetTheeToANunnery on her in that poison pen letter. This troper has aimed {{Take That}}s at a number of things he doesn't like in his fanfiction. Some of them are political (taking shots at far-right pundit Ann Coulter and far-left pundit Ward Churchill), some are artistic (John Kricfalusi for creating what's the most overrated piece of shit in television history, Christina Aguilera for being a skank and overall horrible role model, Matt Groening and everbody else associated with ''{{The Simpsons}}'' for turning one of the best shows on TV into something {{So Bad Its Horrible}}), and some are creative ({{J Michael Strazcynski}} for his {{Dork Age}} retcon of {{Spider-Man}}'s origins, Mark Millar and everybody else associated with {{Marvel Civil War}}). These are usually just one-liners or a couple of paragraphs at most-I hate {{Anvilicious}} {{Author Filibuster}}s as much as anyone, believe me.

This troper does take thats to people a little differently in his fanfictions of 90's FPS games (considering those games' rail-thin plots, what's wrong with having creative liberties?): his main character either encounters the person he doesn't like in question already a corpse a-la "Doomed Space Marine" (like in DukeNukem3D) or killed offscreen by a monster of the FPS in question that's EliteMook rank and up followed by said monster tossing a one-liner alluding to said person.

To be specific, This Troper's targets for take thats include Karma Houdinis (which he loathes with a passion.), Scrappies (the deserved examples that ''didn't'' get out of the pile as he doesn't care '''at all''' about Shipping.), Weslies, and Tsunderes. (This troper sees them as insufferable)

I managed to execute a double TakeThats. I was once at a party (that I attented to only because of my friends). And there a girl walks up to me. Not that she wasn't 'hot' bur she wore as much clothes, that I wondered why she didn't came only in underwear. Then she makes a 'suggestion' that wasn't even subtext. So I (being in a very bad mood) reply with so much sarcasm that I'd like to but I don't have any cash on me. Cue a slap. Most of the guys looked at me as like I'm crazy and asked 'Dude, you're gay?. I replied "No, but at least I DON'T THINK WITH MY GENITALIA!!!" That shut them up, but they still don't like me to this day.

When BrittanyMurphy kicked the bucket, this troper said "Looks like the Grim Reaper sucks at his job. He took the wrong Britney!"

In addition, I actually wrote some funny parodies on YourMileageMayVary, but I think some of them are pretty funny. Personal favourite take thats are "Stupid Pop Songs" (parody of "Beautiful Girls", "Hate It" (parody of "Shake It"), "Don't Wannabe" (I think it's pretty obvious) and "I Like Music, Not Crap" (parody of "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies"). I created an Xbox 360 gamer profile called (PS3RulesXboxSux). First person I sent a friend invite to is an Xbox fan. He was not amused.

This troper had to write an essay on the Meno dialogue in freshman year of college, and he basically turned it into four pages of "Socrates was an asshole." Funnily enough, it was one of my better-received papers that year.

In his upcoming campaign I plan on throwing in a few throwaway take that jokes such as a lynch mob chasing a drow who keeps trying to say how he's the one chaotic good Drow. Another is a shirtless vampire being followed by a peasant girl saying something along the lines of "This is the body of a-" Before being destroyed by the sun and another is a balor in black face dual wielding falchions making a disguise check and successfully hiding in society as a result. Wether or not I put the Balor amongst the lynch mob accusing the real Drizzt of being an imposter is a point I'm contemplating.

There was this person in an old role-play that this troper is in who made a character that was essentially a TakeThat to ''Literature/{{Twilight}}''... If anyone is interested , looking for Twilight Crucifix on the profiles...

This troper has been working on his own original series for some time now (albeit way out of order). One of the characters, who is nasty to the protagonist (and is in one chapter present at said protagonist's grandmother's funeral, with his older brother no less, much to his disgust) is based on a girl who teased and was generally mean to me in elementary school. She's probably the character I least enjoy drawing, because I basically draw a disliked person since I can't help picturing the real-life inspiration.

Nearly all of my friends and family don't like Radiohead (I personally find them very dull, after trying to listen through Creep and Harry Patch (In Memory Of), so still kind of Complaing About Shows You Don't Watch). As such, when I was bored over the easter holiday, I came up with this gem: #QUOTE# There are some things boredom can't buy. For everything else, there's Radiohead.

It's also particularly funny from me as I normally maintain that everyone in entitled to their own opinion and don't criticise anyone else's likes and dislikes (except for Twilight: there is a reason why I agree with one teacher calling it "Twi*@ite", having read the whole series and, when I finished, agreed with the general viewpoint amongst the average person that it is rubbish. No prize for guessing what my reaction was when it was used as an example in a law lesson...)
