My best friend's girlfriend was this for a while. He was always with her, always. He dragged her along to a medieval tournament that we went to, which could easily have ruined the day if it weren't for the torture museum, complete with a laugh sounding suspiciously like Shao Kahn's on the day I was wearing my MortalKombat shirt, and the sword shop. It was cutting into our guy time, and reducing the number of dude conversations we had:Which was about 90% of what either of us talked about. There are just some things girls just aren't supposed to hear, ya know?, almost to the point of making him an extremely bland person. Her spotlight-stealing may have been justified, she is his girlfriend after all, but it was rather annoying. Luckily, he was fairly receptive when I sat him down (for once without the girlfriend, I knew it would be my only shot for a while) for a talk about how she and I weren't getting along, and he's learned to keep us apart... For now. He's back to his awesome self and still has the girlfriend, I don't have to put up with a derailed friend and the girlfriend who derailed him, everyone wins. Though it's too bad: she and I probably could have been friends, in an AlternateContinuity where we met under different circumstances.
#127990
Same with me. Once he finally realized that she was just awful, he dumped her. However, as his friends had been telling him for a good year, she's completely f**king insane. He had to get a restraining order against her.

I've encountered two people like this. First was a boy in my class- he started out as a regular athletic kid who had similar interests to mine, however by the time we went to high school, he gained a ton of weight and seemed to lose quite a few brain cells. He became very idiotic, had poor hygiene, and annoyed the hell out of people to the point where he considered me his only friend and even I began to hate him but I couldn't bring myself to tell him. After a time he became a creepy stalker who was obsessed with me to the point where I suspected he was gay, thankfully after graduation I only see the idiot once in a great while. The other was this younger girl I met in high school- she was very geeky and annoying and she was easily disgusted and saddened. She had a crush on me because I was one of the few people who would talk to her and I didn't share the same feelings about her, thankfully after a few years she disappeared and I rarely saw her again after that.
#127992
Nice, dude.
#127993
I'm confused. Is the OP ''supposed'' to be The Wesley, or is it the mentally ill boy and lonely girl?
#127994
I am planning a story which has a character who could very well become a Wesley, since I'm aware of this possibility, I will try to Rescue him if it happens.

There was my little brother's awkward, immature, younger girlfriend she started out as a very shy quiet girl who would only talk to him and me after a while she opened up to the rest of the family, she also had this very awkward habit of not eating when other people were around, even when eating at a restaurant. Then during our second year of college things took a rapid turn she became a controlling bitch who bossed my brother around and came over to our house and our college apartment whenever she could which was nearly every single day, sometime she'd even be waiting as soon as we got back from our classes. At first it was okay but one weekend she ended up staying with us the entire week and from then on my brother started acting like a douche-bag and rarely talked to or acknowledged me and sometimes treated me like I was a stranger, and from that point on she would only talk to me whenever he wasn't around. He began to lie to his other family members and started to also treat them badly and would spend all his time with her and became more and more of an asshole. Whenever she'd come over she would make herself at home, eat whatever she wanted, and said very nasty and disrespectful things about our family even though we had done nothing to her and one week when my parents were on vacation they had the incredibly stupid idea of sleeping in my parents' bedroom and from then on the rest of my family began to hate her and kicked her out of the house and my brother threw this big immature temper tantrum, thankfully these days he spends less and less time with her and his behavior is improving.

This Troper has a brother named Wesley. He is hated by me, loved by his parents, and always butts into my private activities. It's like they knew what he was going to turn into.
#127997
This Troper was once friends with a guy who was alright to be with at first, but quickly became an annoying brat, one of the ones who couldn't accept being wrong, to the point of claiming he 'knew all along and was testing you' if you proved him wrong. ARGH!!! Once I started avoiding him, he quickly became even more annoying, getting all his other friends to 'volunteer' me to their group in any project. Thankfully, this was our last year of middle school, and I ended up going to a different high school than him.
#127998
I HATE Candice from Phineas and Ferb to the point where she RUINED the show for me. And I blame bishoujo anime for lowering my tolerance for annoying female characters.
#127999
Funny, I used to dislike her at first, until her constant failures amused me... except for her WizardOfOz episode.
#128000
This troppette's classmate (hopefully for only a month or two till he graduates and I never see him again I pray to God, If I see him after that point even once it will be too soon) is this defined, including being a favourite of my teacher who lets him get away with everything short of murder. Seriously, he could not be more obnoxious, self obsessed, selfish, idiotic, decidedly socially retarded, repetitive, creepy and just simply unbearable to be around. Everybody in class hates him, except for naturally himself. He thinks he invented the world and we all should do whatever he does and just accept it whenever he gets up in our space or assaults us mentally/physically/emotionally/with pure irritation and bow down when he brings up the reason he is alive. If he had his way we'd be his slaves and be greatful we met such a wonderous amazing person as he. I'm sorry but no!
#128001
''DegrassiTheNextGeneration'' has ''four''! In general, Wesleys on ''Degrassi'' are blatant.
#128002
Emma Nelson. She's supposed to be based on Caitlin, but she comes off more as Liz. Teen genius? Check. Activist? Check. Never wrong? Check. Inserted into episodes, such as the one with Craig's child abuse where Emma figured out that Craig was at the cemetery all by herself, as a deus ex machina? Check. Which brings us to...
#128003
Craig Manning. He wasn't so bad in season 2, or even season 3, but in season 4, Craig was in nearly every episode, and about half the episodes were about Craig. In season 5, they got the picture, and he got on the bus, and TheBusCameBack in season 6, just long enough to break up Craig/Manny. Then in TheMovie, he got together with...
#128004
Ellie Nash. She started out as a minor character, the goth girl who teaches Ashley that true friends don't care what you dress like or anything like that and encourages Marco to come out of the closet. Basically Paige's foil. Then in season 3, she had a cutting episode, and her mom was an alcoholic. You know who else's parents were alcoholics? Sean's. And by the end of season 3, Sean had his own apartment where she could stay. (Despite this, Sean is ''not'' TheWesley.) In season 4, Daniel Clark left, and Ellie's face time increased exponentially. She started liking Craig. Only one problem: Manny Santos, leading to major DieForOurShip.
#128005
Mia Jones. A pregnant teen who has no economic troubles, and has time for extracurriculars? MarySue, izzat you? They tried to justify this by making her a model. On top of that, she broke up the FanPreferredCouple, J.T./Liberty.
#128006
I kind of feel this way about Randy Marsh. He's not despicable, but can be rather annoying.
#128007
I couldnt watch TheGeorgeLopezShow because of Carmen. Every episode would revolve around her being a total bitch
#128008
This troper ''really'' hated Russell Hantz in ''{{Survivor}}''. No it wasn't the whole "he's good and why didn't I think of that?" aspect; he actually said "That is pretty good". It was because he ''was so damn confident'' about himself all the time and was like "Ain't I awesome?". Didn't help that the producers seemed to have forgotten that there were actually other people in the game besides Russell. I know there were people who were saying "...Who's this guy here?" at Mick
#128009
This troper ''knows'' that ''Redemption Island'' is going to be more of the same - where people will be blinking and saying, "Wait, who're all ''THESE'' people?"
#128010
I am a huge fan of TheMuppets, and I feel this way about recent addition Pepe The King Prawn. It just feels like since his first appearance on the short-lived MuppetsTonight, they want to force him down our throats because they love him so much. I don't get it. So many Muppets who were a million times funnier than Pepe barely get any attention anymore.
#128011
At the risk of getting flames from Castlevania fans, this troper is feeling that Soma from the ''Sorrow'' games is becoming one of these. As much as I like his character design and seiyuu (HikaruMidorikawa), his personality is kind of bland save for the whole SheIsNotMyGirlfriend with the whole risk of becoming a BigBad, the latter of which has been done before. What really seals this is how he's the only one to get consistent goodies upon each DLC release in Harmony of Despair when the others have only gotten periodical updates ''at best'', and some of who even gotten the short end of the stick. His new English voice is just bland as his personality and serves to prove his blandness.

This troper is a big ''[=~Jeopardy!~=]'' fan, but utterly loathes the way the show's been run for the last 13 years, which has produced several Wesleys. The 1997-98 saw the first use of clues, even ''whole categories'' of clues, read by celebrities, among whom have included OprahWinfrey. They take ''forever'' reading the damn clue, and it's not like if they're there, more people will tune in. Their presence adds absolutely ''nothing'' to the game. It just drags down the fast-paced nature of the show. But more blatantly, the "Clue Crew" is exactly like the celebrity clues taken UpToEleven. They talk down to the audience and players, and practically spell out the answer. Is Alex Trebek so lazy about presenting the clues? And then, there's Ken Jennings, who had a 74-game winning streak that stretched across ''two'' seasons, and months later, was invited to 2005's "Ultimate Tournament of Champions" with a bye into the ''final'' round, even though most of the past winners who participated had to win their way into subsequent rounds! He's such a BoringInvincibleHero / GodModeStu that in just one of his games, he had '''41''' correct responses (including '''''all three''''' Daily Doubles. That's more than 2/3rds of the possible clues available in any game! And to actually rank him among all the pre-doubled / tenured winners makes it even more unfair.

There was this one girl who came to my school and has been in my class earlier this year that would always become a nuisance to me because she has replaced me with my friend who also happens to be a girl. She always goes to her house these days while I don't go on much to the point where I can't be invited to her house anymore at all and she even has conversations with her more frequently than me. This girl also doesn't seem to realize I exist, and instead would talk to either her, my best friend, or Kyle. Right now I'd just like to see her being PutOnABusToHell.
#128014
Warhammer40k for this troper. He just didn't find it interesting, nothing about it seemed to interest him, and it didn't help that all the groups who played it nearby were either '''a)''' straw-intellectual StopHavingFunGuys or '''b)''' in a group that was ''so'' iron-bound that they won't let any newcomers within 20 miles.
#128015
Most tropers including myself would agree that writers Casey Alexander and Zeus Cervas would fit this trope for ''SpongebobSquarepants''. Most of the episodes they wrote were basically horrible in plotlines and jokes, and the characterizations were no better. They are the reason most people believe the show has gone stale after the movie, since they began to write at that time.
#128016
Now normally, this troper is not the kind of person who likes to argue. However, this time I don't mind any exchange of opinions. This troper does not like Akuma. Why? Well for starters, I don't believe there's any reason for him. He's a pointless character who has no purpose other then looking for a good fight. In the beginning he was meant to be a character who was apart of Ryu's past,as they tried to explain to you his purpose. Akuma has a ridiculous amount of strength for little to no reason, and sense Alpha has pretty much come out of nowhere and been stronger then everybody else in the series. His main reason for being around was pretty much so Ryu could fight him and avenge his master. Well Gouken apparently is still alive. Which completely steals any other reason for him to be around. He's also stolen other purposes from other characters such as being the one to canonly defeat Bison, you know instead of Chun li or Guile. In the StreetFighterIV manga,he came out of nowhere and defeated Seth easily, but doesn't kill him because he's not worthy enough to be killed by him. This is supposedly the reason Seth has freedom as a unit now. I will admit that my views on the StreetFighter story itself is opposing.

This troper has several in real life and in fiction, he will try to list them.

Lance 'Avalanche' Alvers from XMenEvolution ruined the second season for me. At first he was just a member of the Brotherhood and just as selfish as them, but more aggresive and prone to bullying. I just don't see how the writers could turn such a budding Sociopath into a Blatant RomanticSue for Kitty, all he did in that season was get KarmaHudini points for all the shit he pulled last season, constantly act nice to the point that, had he been introduced with this personality he would have fit with the X-Men, and not to mention cause that god aweful episode 'Joyride'. Seriously, Scott was in the wrong!? How Fangirls, how!? He was completely justified in not trusting him, he was a former villain and perposely ruined those two training sims for the sake of it. The drowning one is self explanitory, but he was suposed to destroy the BUZZ SAWS not the shooters, if he can direct his power to objects (Like the lockers in the first episode he was in) he should be able to destroy the flying Buzz saws. The fact he gets so many fan girls who ignore the fact he quite, not because of the New Recruits being TooDumbtoLive or because of Scott, but as he said himself, because they're too hard to live with, it was a Massive IdiotPlot. Thank god CharacterRerailment made him more likable in the second season by returning him to his rude, arrogant prick personality instead of what we were shoved to believe in the Second one.

Chav Steeven, another Classic case of CharacterDerailment that stuck. Steeven was originally this cool guy who would try to cheer people up if they were upset and listen to people's jokes. Then he turned 16. Now, he's a Chav, He makes fun of people, insists I'm Gay despite there being no evidense and the fact I actually am straight, I just don't rant on about it. He was often bragging on about his sex life and how everyone else must be gay by comparison, he failed all his exams and didn't get a Work Experience (Something that is manditory) or pick his own optional lessons (Again, manditory), so what does the school do? Why, put him in a group of people just like him who get to go on trips, not do any real work, and get to cut class whenever they want and have both lunch breaks instead of just one. When Work Experience week came around, he instead got to play around and on the thursday got to go on a trip to an Army place and do some Laser Tag. LASER TAG! In the end he got to leave with the entire year despite doing fuck all.
#128023
Sex Addict Tom, someone with a similar personality, is an aversion, every tutor in the college hated him, every student hated him and doubted his stories (He had sex 26 times in one day? Seriously? Those women must have been really disapointed if he was able to do that much in one day, since to fit it in as well as the needed recovery time means he either faked an Orgasm or they lasted less than a minute each, either way its actually pathetic). What does he get for his sex encounters? He's got two girls pregnant and now stuck to be a father to two kids with different moms while actually in love with another girl who he can't legally touch for another year.
#128024
Alex, Braydon, and Corey, three people in my tutorial/form class who're all different forms of it. Alex is an Aversion, despite his mother being a teacher, he got away with nothing, was hated by everyone, in Year 11 it became a real life meme about him getting molested by his boxing Coach as he had to have a full body physical, and when his mother was the teacher for a class, everyone got away with everything while he got in trouble for DOING HIS WORK TOO SLOWLY. Braydon is a DoubleSubversion. Teachers hated him, but still let him get away with stuff. He was racist, Homophobic, vulgar, a total douche who would distract other people from their work or just draw all over it and they'd be the ones who got in trouble for it. He would make jokes about others being 'Nonse Victims' despite his little sister (Or so she claimed, she was a known liar who made up all sorts of stories) being one herself. Corey is a straighter example. He was one of the closest this troper has ever met to a CompleteMonster who didn't get in trouble for his arrogant behaivior. He had a HairTriggerTemper and would usually just kick people in the face, would get away with anything in class and got to skip form to go and 'do work in the libary' as well as being a total dick to everyone who he knew he could hurt. Would be a lot more nicer to people if no one was around as he was desperate to have a friend, but if someone was around would start bullying weaker people to show off.
#128025
A guy called Joe who was the same age as my brother, to describe him, imagine Eric Cartmen in realy life. Yeah, It was that bad.
#128026
Others exist but aren't that important to get mention.
#128027
For this troper, the biggest Wesley would be Kristen Wiig on SaturdayNightLive. Particularly the episodes ranging from 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 seasons (whatever number they are). She was the lead (or played a big part) in the majority of the skits in those seasons. After Amy Phoeler left, I honestly wondered if there even WERE any other women on the show (how surprised I was when Wiig didn't appear!) It doesn't help that all of her fifty billion characters basically have the same premise: "Weird lady with annoying voice and crazy hair." The worst of the lot would be Gilly, in which every skit was basically the same as the last. Also, her Kathie Lee impersonation was very crappy; Kathie Lee doesn't annoyingly laugh at EVERYTHING she says (and I'm not a fan of her). Worst of all, Lorne Michaels seemingly tried to PUSH her into every skit (meaning he's probably the blame), claiming she was one of the best actresses he's ever had. Entertainment Weekly OFTEN praises everything she does, as if any movie she stars in is good, or she is the only good part of the movie. (Admittingly, she's better in the movies than on SNL, but not by much, and that's due to the writing of both). Thankfully, the 2010-2011 season has given the other female castmates plenty of screentime, with Wiig not used as much. Doesn't make the skits any better, though...
#128028
I feel this way to the GEICO commercials (the more recent ones though). Billions are spent on overexposure repeated ad nauseum and it gets really annoying for being shown everywhere almost all the time. Commercials with the spokesperson wearing a suit is getting annoying with his voice and literal proverbs, phrases, and idioms. I thought the caveman was bad.
#128029
My friend once got reconnected with an old dear friend of hers who was, at her last check, gay. What followed was him encroaching the lives of our {{Nakama}} to such an extent that every time she was there, that "dear friend" had to be referenced somewhere. We later learned that she was in love with him, and that she firmly believed that he jumped the gender barrier for her, judging from how she explains his actions. We didn't mind it at first, but eventually we got visibly sick of him being the topic of every sentence. The cream of the crop? He, as expected, dumped her. In a manner most inappropriate. For the sake of giving the asshole the benefit of a doubt, another friend and I assumed the less dishonest of two possible reasons. The big guy of our posse and I still want to kill him, though.
#128030
This Troper is part of an IRC roleplay chat that has at least two- one who is no longer there, and one who simply won't go away.
#128031
The first was a chronic whiner whose character attempted suicide (but got better) every few days. She took everything that happened in the chat seriously, becoming angry if things violated her moral code (since the game started on 4chan, this seems particularly egregious). Yet people tolerated her because she had a fabulous body IRL, and they always need more girls on there. Eventually, people told her to shut the fuck up, and she moved on.
#128032
The second is a clear example of AbuseIsOkWhenItsFemaleOnMale. She's married to one of the most popular, gentlest members of the chat, yet she herself goes from being a volatile tsundere to a yandere depending on her mood. Since her player has a rape fetish, she's often a damsel scrappy, pulling everyone to her aid (though recently people have started to call her out on this, asking why she bothers going there if she doesn't like roleplaying). Yet, as with the previous example, the room needs girls, so people seem to want to keep her there anyway, and she's been the target of at least three love triangles.
