PeripheryDemographic
#101497
This 40 year old plus male troper is a fan of the Disney Fairies franchise. It does, however, fade into FetishFuel and PerverseSexualLust territory quite easily.
#101498
This troper's mother was a major Nintendo fan (starting with NES) until she was unable to play anymore due to health reasons.
#101499
This 26 year old female troper, among other childish things, LOVES to see Disney Channel movies aimed for teenage girls, like ''PrincessProtectionProgram'' and ''CampRock'', and Nickelodeon shows like ''NedsDeclassifiedSchoolSurvivalGuide''.
#101500
This Troper is a fan of ANY kind of magical girl, this troper is MALE, and watched just for the Moe-ness or grade-schooler romance......and watching PrettyCure drive him insane by the Shonen-style INTENSE ACTION AND DRAMA!LOL WTF IS THAT! AND IT'S NOT BAD ITS AWESOME!!!!
#101501
Ditto for original Nanoha ....to mention Human-turned-Ferret? Check! search for the magical items? CHECK! night-to-day rival? CHECK! Moe-ness? BIG CHECK!! Intense Action? Er....what? BIG CHECK! Seinen-scale drama? Wait.....er...CHECK! Straight and 'divert' teaser moment? TRIPLE CHECK! CHECK IT EVERYONE!!
#101502
This troper is a huge MagicalGirlLyricalNanoha fan. Obviously it's a seinen series, but you try telling someone that without getting laughed at.
#101503
This troper is very guilty of still loving most Japanese anime, RPG computer games, Neopets and Pokemon, despite being OlderThanTheyLook.... What?
#101504
Who didn't watch ''BluesClues''? Ya'know, up until Joe showed up.
#101505
To drive the point home, this troper mentioned this edit to her sister, who spat: "Oh, you mean ''Donovan?''" No, she's not bitter in the least. Why do you ask?
#101506
In this troper's local papers, they ran an article about how many of the mothers forced their kids to watch this because of {{Perverse Sexual Lust}} for the host.
#101507
This troper totally has {{Perverse Sexual Lust}} for Steve ... and is NOT a mother (20-year-old university student, actually).
#101508
This troper actually ''started'' watching the show with the special in which Steve left.
#101509
This Troper fully admits that, at the age of 19, he still has a shoebox full of Lego, and is a fan of a Warhammer-style game built around them.
#101510
A shoebox? This troper has a fairly large plastic storage bin full of the stuff.
#101511
''A'' storage bin? Growing up only means you have more money to indulge your addiction.
#101512
Only? At 28, this troper has four 50-gallon bins of Lego parts.
#101513
Unless you've at least one entire room dedicated to it, it doesn't count. And please SORT your bricks. No, not just by color, that's useless.
#101514
Geeks of all ages love Legos.
#101515
This eighteen-year-old Troper's veritable army of selfmade {{Bionicle}} figures(which take up roughly half of his bookshelf) can attest to that. As can his model AT-ST.
#101516
''Everyone'' of all ages loves Legos. They even get their own nickname (AFOL's - Adult Fan of Legos) and Lego was the first major company to realize there was money to be made by catering to their tastes.
#101517
A-Hem. It's Lego. Not Legos.
#101518
That's actually a difference between British and American English. Most of the time it's a noncount noun (like rice) in British English, while it's a count noun most of the time in American English.
#101519
"LEGO is a trademark of the LEGO Group of companies which does not sponsor, authorize or endorse this site" Fairplay guidelines, people.
#101520
This troper's mother has openly admitted to watching kid's shows, including {{WITCH}}.
#101521
This troper wishes ''his'' mom wanted to watch ''{{WITCH}}'' with him... *sniffle*
#101522
Add another point for the adult males who love {{WITCH}}-team.
#101523
This troper, since he was ten, has preferred watching Shoujo to Shounen, ever since CardcaptorSakura.
#101524
Ditto for this troper, though in this case it was CardcaptorSakura and SailorMoon that did it.
#101525
Same here.
#101526
Still has all of Card Captor Sakura on his computer and happily watches it at age 22.
#101527
This Troper actually watched CCS when he was ''5'', and now at 13, is a CLAMP fanboy in it for the LesYay.
#101528
CardcaptorSakura was this troper's GatewaySeries into anime... as an 18-year-old male college student.
#101529
This troper was lucky enough to watch ''Dragonball Z'' as a ten-year-old and enjoy it earnestly, then rediscover it years later and enjoy it snarkily. But ''also'' earnestly.
#101530
Same, same. Nineteen, female, and just finished collecting every single episode, movie and special.
#101531
Even though ''KaleidoStar'' is about a young actress/acrobat that starts working in a ''CirqueDuSoleil'' kind of show and presents a lot of clearly shoujo elements, this troper (19 year old male) watched it himself and has heard of a lot of males (some even older) that watched and enjoyed it.
#101532
Taking an extreme view of periphery demographic, this troper - who has no children - watched TheTeletubbies for a good four months straight, and rather enjoyed it. Of course, this same troper also can prove it's Dr. Who on lysergic acid diethylamide, and dares any to challenge them.
#101533
I'm pretty sure 'people on drugs' are the other target demographic for Teletubbies.
#101534
This troper was probably too old for Pokemon during the first season, yet it's 10 seasons and over 400 episodes later and his guilty pleasure is still that. Not only that, he thinks the newest saga is quite possibly the best one yet.
#101535
Darn the AnimationAgeGhetto, this troper's (17) favorite shows are cartoons. When they start making ''good'' live-action superhero shows (that aren't obvious ripoffs of X-Men, then she'll consider switching, but for now...
#101536
Aw, screw it. Cartoons are too addicting...
#101537
Seconded
#101538
This male teenage troper whose favorite anime includes ''Gurren Laggan'', ''{{Hayate the Combat Butler}}'', and ''ParanoiaAgent'', his favorite manga series shall always be ''Yotsuba&!''.
#101539
Actually ''{{Yotsuba}}'' is seriealized in Dengeki Daioh a {{Shounen}} manga magazine that's read by mostly older males. Though try telling that to someone who hasn't read it.
#101540
This 30-year-old troper doesn't confine himself to the genres, but he follows the ''HanaYoriDango'' and ''TheWallflower'' mangas religiously. Yes,the {{Shojo}} with a pink cover and an inverse harem, respectively. Also ''Avatar'',but I have you to thank for that.
#101541
Tropers/PotatoBucket: 22-years-old. Watches "The Backyardigans" if it's on when he wakes up. It's actually a fairly decent show. Also watched "Blues Clues" when the show first started when he was in fifth grade, and also resents Joe.
#101542
Tropers/{{Scrounge}} is thinking about the new "Universe" toyline and asks, "Do grown-up ''{{Transformers}}'' fans even count as PeripheryDemographic, or are they just a Secondary Target Demographic?" That said, he likes ''TransformersAnimated'' and ''BeastWars'' best... The ''Animated'' comic is the first ''Transformers'' comic he's made it a priority to follow. Also,Scrounge is 25, and he also follows ''{{Ben 10}}'' (Even though the show JumpedTheShark somewhere in the third season, and Alien Force... Less said, the better), ''TheSecretSaturdays'' (which is evererything ''Ben 10'' used to be), and ''BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold''.
#101543
To answer your question about Transformers, several Hasbro reps have said that ''kids'' are Universe's (and to a lesser degree, it's mother line, Classics) Secondary Demographic. It was designed with adult collectors who grew up on Gen. 1 or BeastWars in mind (including toys made squarely for an adult demographic like reissues of G1 toys) but to still be appealing to kids. That said, TF's in general they are an advertising medium for a toyline aimed at kids around 7-10 but with older fans still in mind. (for example the hundreads of Mythology Gags in TransformersAnimated that pretty much only dedicated teenage/adult fans would understand.)So yes, adults are for the most part Secondary Targets.
#101544
This troper is both 20 years old and an agnostic. That said, she still finds VeggieTales to be way, ''way'' more entertaining than it should be. Darn those annoyingly catchy Silly Songs!
#101545
Same here. ''We are the piraaaates who don't do anythiiiing...''
#101546
I still watch ''Spongebob''. And ''TransformersAnimated'', though that's probably more excusable.
#101547
This troper likes the old Biker Mice From Mars and the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He's eighteen years old.
#101548
18? This troper is 34 and used to get up half an our early just so he could watch the new TMNT before work.
#101549
This (26-year old) troper is starting to get tired of people asking him "''CardCaptorSakura''? Really?"
#101550
This Troper and his two (male)roommates have made a pact that we shall never admit liking OuranHighSchoolHostClub.
#101551
Way to break an oath there, then. :)
#101552
Got it recommended to me by a warfare-obsessed male friend.
#101553
This troper is 21 years old and studying to teach high school. She loves Wonderpets and PowerRangers. And her reasons for watching Power Rangers have nothing to do with PerverseSexualLust; that's just a bonus.
#101554
This troper's mother started to become a gamer thanks to crushing on Snake, though it'll be a long time before they ever engage in a mother and daughter Vs. match.
#101555
This troper thinks the best part of being grownup is having the money to spend on all the toys. As youth group adviser, she's regularly revered as the coolest adult in the universe for playing SuperSmashBros Brawl, collecting ''TheLegendOfZelda'' items (like swords), and dressing in full costume for the Renaissance faire. Troper's Mother, on the other hand, is less enchanted with her daughter's hobbies.
#101556
This 20-year-old troper enjoys ''{{Yu-Gi-Oh}}'', ''{{Animorphs}}'', and ''SailorMoon''.
#101557
This troper parents are very good examples: My mother watches Futurama, Daria and Mission Hill; My dad, on the other hand, Drake & Josh, and in the 90's, Boys Meets World (That must mean something but... I don't know...)
#101558
Update: My mother saw with my brother and I a marathon of... Avatar: The Last Airbender... And she loved it!
#101559
This 20-year-old troper has recently finished watching Danny Phantom and is halfway through Ben 10.
#101560
This 22-year-old troper considers ''DannyPhantom'' a godsend to her; she was almost about to give up on cartoons until she watched this. Now it's an obsession, complete with fangeekery fancomics and a website devoted to the series.
#101561
This 22-year old female troper loves that show along with the old DC/Marvel shows and Teen Titans. The whole RevolutionaryGirlUtena fandom has also become this. Would you believe that someone wrote a freaking ''college thesis'' based on Utena?
#101562
This troper admits to watching ''{{Arthur}}''... still. Hey, it's a fairly decent PBS show.
#101563
This troper too.
#101564
This 26-year-old troper enjoys ''DannyPhantom'', ''FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'', and ''JusticeLeague''. Meanwhile, his dad is a big fan of Pixar movies.
#101565
Tropers/{{Nausicaa}}'s grandpa, a CoolOldGuy if there ever was one, used to watch {{Daria}} with her when it was on TV.
#101566
Does it count when this 20-year-old, female troper still watches (and sincerely likes) {{Digimon}}?
#101567
Sure it does! This troper is almost 27, female, and completely unashamed to admit watching and enjoying all five seasons of Digimon, even to the point of tracking down fansubs of the original shows.
#101568
Especially Tamers (III) and Data Squad (V)
#101569
This 19-year-old troper got the entire original series of ''{{Thunderbirds}}'' on DVD for Christmas ''and he is loving it''. More, in fact, than he did when he was a kid, because he's picking up more.
#101570
This same troper is now binging on SamuraiJack, and he thinks it's one of the best series he's ever seen.
#101571
This troper got his ''mom'' hooked on SamuraiJack. Note that this troper is of Asian heritage.
#101572
This 17 year old male troper read all the SailorMoon manga his library had, and checked the [=DVDs=] from his video store. I was in third grade at the time. Though, now I notice said store has the UNCUT [=DVDs=], he may relapse.
#101573
This 17-year-old female troper loves Justice League Unlimited, Looney Tunes and Betty Boop cartoons, House of Mouse, and Phineas and Ferb, and doesn't care who knows it. Those are good, clever shows/shorts, and if you don't like it, tough.
#101574
This 27-year-old troper sometimes buys and reads children's books. But then, he was a weird kid anyway, so naturally he'd become a strange adult.
#101575
In a UK senior school, admitting to liking {{Pokemon}} is suicide. So my friends and I avoid mentioning it...
#101576
This troper's 19-year-old friend has a thing for his Pokeymans. It's not embarrassing, but sometimes he goes into extensive ''Pokemon'' rants.
#101577
This troper and her friends avoid this by talking about "The Game We Don't Have".
#101578
This troper has a friend who's ''twenty-five'' and is still into her Pokeymans.
#101579
I'm 30 and I play Pokemon -- only my Pokemon games are called ''Shin Megami Tensei''.
#101580
Eighteen years old. Been playing since Gold Version. Could probably name any one of the 400+ Pokemon if shown a picture, and give its type and evolutions to boot.
#101581
Pokemon is quite popular at this troper's university.
#101582
Hell, this British troper is in 6th form, and knows the guys like to play Pokemon, and no-one cares.
#101583
This troper is known around her school for reading really enormous classics for fun -- but she still reads children's books.
#101584
This ''13'' year old troper has a fascination with with childish cartoons, which she tries to say are too mature for their destinated audience. The shows include {{Hamtaro}},{{Wonder Pets}},{{Blues Clues}}(''post'' Joe only), and {{Arthur}}. I would say {{Pokemon}},but that's shounen, and quite a '''mature''' show too.
#101585
This troper got not only her own mother, but her friend's mother hooked on Avatar. The former also had a strange fascination with Johnny Bravo back in the day.
#101586
This troper's forty-something mother loved the live action Transformers movie.
#101587
This troper, who is old enough to have given birth to some of you, writes fanfic and does fanart for a video game series, makes lolcats and watches sci-fi. I'm here to tell you that the fun doesn't have to stop once you hit a certain age. And I don't have kids, so I can't use that as an excuse.
#101588
If I'm allowed to award you a MadeOfWin point for that reassurance, consider it done. I'd been worrying.
#101589
I love you, that's all I can say. I don't feel so strange anymore!
#101590
This troper is a male who enjoys playing ''Para Para Paradise''.
#101591
This Tropette has a place in her heart for Transformers, BatmanTheAnimatedSeries, the good ol' XMen cartoons, among others. Being a Tomboy has been good to me.
#101592
A friend's father fanatically watches Gossip Girl, for the story.
#101593
Right...for the story.
#101594
This 29 year old troper still reads comics. Though admittingly, he's a few months behind.
#101595
34! Still reads comics. What? They stopped being for 'just for kids' long ago.
#101596
Say what you will (especially about their utter lack of subtlety), but this troper, over the summer, intends to watch a lot of Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go (primarily the latter). Why? Because he needs practice with Spanish over the summer so he doesn't forget everything before he reaches Spanish II.
#101597
This troper is actually quite disappointed that she's going to be living on her own soon-- because I won't have my two little siblings around to help justify watching those two shows every now and then. (Of course, it also removes the ''requirement'' to justify it ''at all'', so...yeah. Bring on independence.)
#101598
My mother was a fan of ERB, particularly the Mars books, The Land that Time Forgot and Pelucidar. She started me reading such things when I was 8 or 9 (1942 to 1943), and when I started bringing SF magazines home read a lot of them as well. Note that she was a Cornell grad though she never worked. For many years she subscribed to MF&F, and I remember when she was 76, having read Tepper's ''The Gate to Women's Country'', her calling one of my sister to tell her that she HAD to read it.
#101599
I think ''PrincessDebut'' is a pretty cool game. seh dances to classical music and doesn't afraid of boys playing her too.
#101600
On that note, a few series clearly marketed toward girls (or look like they could be) have found their way into his collection: ''FruitsBasket'', ''KaleidoStar'', ''OuranHighSchoolHostClub'', ''SkipBeat!'', etc.
#101601
This troper is a 32-year-old recovering alcoholic who still loves the objectification of women in beer commercials and MTV Spring Break specials despite being a stable, religious, Republican-voting happily married man.'
#101602
This troper only discovered certain shows after he entered tertiary education (that's his excuse and he's sticking to it). However, he once summed up this trope very well while discussing the ''DeadOrAlive'' movie with his younger sister: #QUOTE#'''Me''': I don't think you're part of the demographic they were aiming for with that one.\\ '''Her''': What do you mean?\\ '''Me''': Holly Valance. Katana. Bikini.
#101603
This troper's dad loves to watch Phineas and Ferb with him.
#101604
This troper's mom also loves to watch Phineas and Ferb.
#101605
Family movie night has been completely taken over by AvatarTheLastAirbender. Utterly. To compound it, although there are members of the ''intentional'' demographic in the house, ''I'' got ''them'' into it, not vice versa. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, there is no justifiable reason for my favorite series being ''{{Seinen}}'' other than the series being SoCoolItsAwesome. (BlackLagoon, if you wanted to know.) Oh, yeah, and does anyone else on here remember that DeathNote is, technically, a {{Shonen}} series? So is RosarioToVampire, come to that, although I don't like that one quite so much...but I still enjoy it.
#101606
This male troper loved '' FullMoonOSagashite'', a shojo manga, since I was sixteen.
#101607
Raekuul's turn. I like, starting with the least embarrassing: Dragonball Z, Robotech, Bleach, Inuyasha, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ouran High School Host Club, Yu Yu Hakusho, Shaman King, Trinity Blood, Beet The Vandel Buster, Sailor Moon, Goldfish Warning, Tokyo Mew Mew, Himechan's Ribbon, Fushigiboshi no Futagohime, and Floral Magician Mary Bell. I do not take that last one to school with me.
#101608
This 14 year old male troper cried various time at Ouran High school host club.).
#101609
This tropers over 60 year old parents enjoy BuffyTheVampireSlayer and Angel. His father loved SexAndTheCity and DesperateHousewives.
#101610
This Troper is a 25 year old male who loves listening to {{Musical}}s and enjoyed watching {{Rozen Maiden}} - I even blubbed like a baby in the second series over Hina.
#101611
This troper had a rather ironic experience, wherein, being in the target age demographic for {{Kim Possible}}, (that is, a teenage girl; about sixteen at the time) hopped on board the Kigo ship, and was promptly banned from the fan site for being too young. Too young for {{Kim Possible}}! I suppose this qualifies as a subversion.
#101612
This tropette, at the age of 7, loved Encyclopedia Dramatica to death. It actually didn't scar me, and I found that it was funny and adorable if you had a trolling attitude towards it.
#101613
You got off easy, consider yourself lucky.
#101614
This Troper watched TheSecretOfHIMN for the first time at the ripe are of 20. It is now one of his favorite films, among RumbleFish and WallStreet.
#101615
This teenage tropette, her sister and two of her (also female) cousins full stop when it comes to a certain slick British secret agent. We all appreciate the badassness and occasional LargeHam-osity of it all -- not to mention we all grew up playing the games together as well, so this franchise is just a lot of fun for all of us.
#101616
Me! I'm 18. Male. {{6teen}}. WhoseLineIsItAnyway. ScoobyDooMysteryInc. Series/DoctorWho. Ben10 (every series). TheAmazingSpiez. AmericanDad. {{Spliced}}. TotalDramaIsland. SpongebobSquarepants. BeingHuman. TheBigBangTheory. DannyPhantom. FairlyOddParents. {{Supernatural}}.
#101617
started rewatching UltimateBookOfSpells on YouTube too. Ah, nostalgia!
#101618
This troper and her best friend get all sorts of funny reactions at NASA/space related events because we're teenage girls.
#101619
This 18 year old troper just got her father and grandfather (who is pushing 80) to watch AvatarTheLastAirbender. They love it. To add to this... Dad is also twihard.
#101620
This 30-something female Troper will ''binge'' on cartoons and video games when stressed out. Part because she loves a good EarnYourHappyEnding and EverybodyLives.
#101621
This troper played numerous first-person shooters since the age of 10 and even made a few levels for them. Most of these games are still 17+ rated.
#101622
This troper, 28, male, is a primary editor for a number of pages for shows aimed at young audiences on this site and single-handedly wrote most most of the content for at least a couple, including ''{{Franklin}}'' and ''BearInTheBigBlueHouse''. He is unashamedly a fan of many shows like this and has a particular love for {{Nelvana}} programming. He also doesn't care if it's a program that's traditionally considered a "girl's show," such as ''MyLittlePony'' or ''StrawberryShortcake.'' Yet, at the same time, he is also a fan of programs such as ''TwentyFour''. His personal opinion? Judge the show (or other media) on its merits, not based on the audience it's targeted towards.
#101623
This male troper always seemed to have a soft spot for girly toys, especially if they are Disney based. Even now at age 22 he is seriously considering collecting Disney Princess dolls and figurines.
#101624
This troper is 28 and a male. He also proudly calls himself a "Children Show Connoisseur", watching Children shows and rating them, and if he likes a show, he sticks to it. He unshamely maintains the GuessWithJess and SpotTheDog trope pages, as well as contribute to other pages, most which are children show trope pages., The habit started when he was 15, and it stuck since. He also collects and play with children toys, particularly Leapfrog and vTech ones, as well owning several plush piles that consists of his favorite childrens TV and book characters. And then there's the thing where he's just attracted to coin-operated rides.
#101625
ThisTroper is 25 years old and is STILL a complete sucker for cutesy things. She's also completely addicted to the Mario and Kirby series and snatches up anything relating to the 2 franchises possible. She also has an eternal soft spot for Pokemon and does not have Pokemon HeartGold and is surely not thinking about buying Pokemon Black/White. She also loves to watch LetsPlays, animes (namely the works of Hayao Miyazaki, Ouran, AzumangaDaioh, Negima!, LuckyStar, BigWindup, and CrossGame to name a few), NedsDeclassifiedSchoolSurvivalGuide (a spiritual successor to Pete and Pete if I must say), and actually likes to watch a few {{Youtube Poop}}s but only a few. To be honest, it probably isn't as huge as she's making it out to be but she's been kind of having a quarterlife crisis lately. And to see all these folks my age and older than me enjoying the same kind of things actually makes me feel a lot better. So thanks folks!
#101626
This 18 year old Tropette and most of her college (it's a very nerdy school) are huge fans of cartoons (it is a college after all). She still remembers beaming the day she saw a group of people crowding the dorm lounge to watch a ''Codename: Kids Next Door'' marathon. Do the majority of the students have a "superiority complex" about "how good" their cartoons were vs. the shows of today? You bet they do!
#101627
This tropette is 22 years old and enjoys watching ''TheGoldenGirls'' occasionally with her mother.
#101628
Is it weird for a 15 year old liking ''TheReturnOfHanuman'', which was intended for little children? Well, this troper was really moved by Maruti's cuteness.
#101629
Happens to me a lot but the main one's are world girl Arthur MLP friend ship is magic electric company(though I fast followed to the extras) and the one's that I no longer watch are still a part of me also I still love Santa.
#101630
This 15 year-old troper is a {{Gundam}} fan.
#101631
So this is an aversion?
#101632
This Troper claims that one of the reasons she loves it when her younger relatives visit is that she has an excuse to sit and watch cartoons without someone else in the house going "Aren't you too old for that?" PhineasAndFerb and WesternAnimation/AdventureTime especially. Also, just last week this troper and her best friend were having an in-depth discussion about... DoraTheExplorer. For the record, we're both pushing 20.
#101633
This troper is a fifteen year old girly-girl who loves Final Fantasy VII, Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat, Hellsing, Comic (particularly Spider-Man), and recently started watching the 2003 Ninja Turtles show with her almost forty mother. Said mother watched the first Ninja Turtles show when she was almost twenty.
#101634
This 13-year-old female troper enjoys Call of Duty and My Little Pony.
