In college this troper had a rather laid-back roommate who had a lot of similar interests and kept things he knew I wouldn't like to himself. He was graduating in one semester though, whereas rooms are assigned on a yearly basis. I was sorry to see him go, but hoped at least this would mean I'd get a solo room. I came back from winter break to find he'd been replaced by a french exchange student who smoked (and thus always reeked), slept an average of 16 hours a day (no joke, I was so incredulous I did the math), invited his drunken friends over all the time, and snored loudly.

In
this troper's high school before a library fire, I had a nice librarian called Miss Gill, who dressed nice and was so nice to let me interview her for the yearly magazine. Fast forward one year later and she was replaced by a frumpy and strict librarian who practically yelled at everyone. That was not a happy year.

I once had this spanish teacher who was a very nice lady, both
emotionally and physically and kicked
off this tropers interest in older women. Near the end of the school year, she was pretty much PutOnABus when she transferred to another country to teach there. Who was she replaced by? Our senile and cruel music teacher who is pretty much already TheScrappy of the teachers in the school. Needless to say,
I wasn't very happy.

In this troper's primary school, our normal teacher was away for one day. Now usually we're nice to relief teachers (Okay, maybe not, but still...) but this time we weren't. The first thing the teacher did was snatch a book off the class's resident psycho-girl during the roll call because she was reading. She promptly got out another book and told him that we were allowed to read in the roll call. He said blatantly that he didn't care, and took the second book. Immediately the entire class decided that we hated him. We then went for sport in the hall. We were asked how we usually traveled down to the hall. I replied (truthfully) that we usually walked single file around the corner then broke into an insane mad dash. He replied that we wouldn't do that today. The class nodded, walked round the corner and dashed away. In the actual gym our resident short Asian who was only grasping English kicked a soccer ball through a window, breaking it. This type of thing continued for the rest of the day, and climaxed on us returning to the classroom at the end of the day. Our doors are made of glass, and the teacher walked slap-bang into it, swore in front of us, and walked inside. Sure, the entire class got told off for it by the principal later, but it was worth it.

This troper recently had a band teacher replace one who quit his job. The new teacher worked just as hard as the old one and did just as good a job, picked great pieces to play, and was just generally a nice person. But said troper just couldn't bring herself to like the new guy, mostly because the old teacher was the same one she'd had for six years.
#108832
This troper's school had a fantastic Theater teacher, but my senior year he went to become an Assistant Principal. While the replacement teacher was somewhat capable, she didn't have any of the respect everyone else had for the old teacher, and everyone gave her a hard time. She probably still has the problem.
#108833
This troper's school also had an excellent theater director, who was quietly transferred to a middle school after the ''Urinetown'' to ''Cabaret'' incident listed on TroperTales/MoralGuardians. His replacement, however, was barely qualified for the job. The first musical she directed was so spectacularly badly planned and directed that the actors had to get together at each other's homes and learn their lines, songs, and choreography on their own time to make sure it didn't turn into a complete disaster by the premiere.

The new history teacher at
this troper's school seems to be getting a lot of flack, even though he's a really sweet guy, simply because the previous history teacher was so well-loved by so many of the seniors (though that's
contested). Also because he has an
odd way of speaking which is rather hard to understand.
#108835
At
my school, after one student left, she was replaced by an annoying little {{Mario}} fanboy with a dog fetish who ''wouldn't shut up''. Did I mention he was... ''special''? The change didn't go over that well.
#108837
This troper's highschool had a subversion; one biology teacher was fired and replaced with a new guy who, while he was actually fairly awesome, was resented for 'stealing' the first teacher's job. Then it came out that the first teacher was fired because he was arrested for making child porn. Suddenly, everyone loved the new teacher.
#108838
Crowning Moment of Heartwarming? (Maybe the child porn disqualifies it.)
#108839
This troper's favorite teacher was the only one at the school to teach a particular subject (which was popular solely because she taught it), and she was immensely well-loved for her oddities. After the troper had had her for three of the four classes offered in said program, the teacher retired and was replaced. The new teacher is nice and not bad at what she does, but the students were resentful because she just wasn't the old teacher.
#108840
This troper's middle school band director was a cool, funny guy who was easy to talk to and listened to feedback from parents and students. He made band a ton of fun. Then I got to high school, and that head band director was a gigantic jerk who played favorites (and his favorites were always the least-likable kids), loved to listen to himself talk, and only cared about himself. He never listened to anyone. I was angry. But the assistant directors were great, and I bet that's what kept a lot of kids in the band.
#108841
Any guy who's been the ''rebound'' boyfriend knows this trope through and through.
#108842
Back in elementary school, this troper (KurtmanJP) had a speech teacher named Mrs.Johannis. He was really bummed out when another speech teacher came along and replaced her.
#108843
This Troper had a maths teacher everyone ''loved''. She was fantastic. When we got a new one, she was not a good replacment. Not only was she a bitch (so we would have hated her anyway) but she didn't live up to the last teacher's reputation. No-one in the class can actually remember the new teacher's name.
#108844
We got a double whammy at this troper's drama school. We had a very enthusiastic, energetic, quirky teacher who was very well-liked, and after she left to have a baby, we got someone who was less excitable and happy, a good deal stricter, and who had a temper. She wasn't so well-liked, and everybody missed the old teacher. The second part of this is that on the whole the older students who'd done drama for a while were funny, sociable, and quite good actors. A lot of them left when the old teacher left, for a variety of reasons, and were replaced with a bunch of twelve year olds, some of whom were nice enough, some of whom were annoying and bratty. Between the new teacher and so many friends leaving, by the end of that year, all but one of the older students had quit too.
#108845
Subverted with the first replacement for this troper's instrument lessons. While he was more strict and not as happy-go-lucky as the first teacher, she and the other students still liked him because he was as good as the former at teaching - they just did it in different ways. Played straight after he retired with two weird and one whiny replacements. I quit a year after he did.
#108846
Played straight at this troper's primary school. Our regular Math teacher was a strict woman but she'd often take a break to tell stories vaguely related to the problems, so everyone liked her. We got a horrible, saggy old hag for a replacement. The class, after being subjected to her boring and sometimes bordering on insane teaching, decided they hated her, and began to spend the rest of the school year making her miserable. One memorable incident was after she went for a full makeover for the school's Teacher's Day picture. She looked even worse that she had before, with makeup way too obvious and her skin injected with clumps of Botox. The class monitor grabbed a can of cola, shook it, and made sure everyone in my class got to shake it hard before we served it to the teacher during the Teacher's Day party. Suffice to say, it became both CrowningMomentOfFunny and CrowningMomentOfAwesome when the cola spurted up her nose and everywhere else. We got a severe telling-off... but man, her face was so ''amazingly'' funny.
#108847
Another incident was when she spent 20 minutes (or so) yelling at us for making a lot of noise and being the worst class she'd ever taught (which was the whole point). Then she got on with the lesson. Every time she turned her back to write a question, we began to boo and hiss at her. Whenever she turned to look at us, we stared back in dead silence, like she was insane and hearing things. Finally she couldn't take it any more and stomped down to the teacher's office. We sat there for a while, very quiet... and everyone suddenly cheered and whooped.
#108848
What a bunch of {{Jerkass}}es.

This Troper's school has freshmen take Music History. The teacher is a snarky british woman who gave great notes. She was also pregnate, and had to leave halfway into the year. The guy that replaced her was an incompetent mess who had no idea what he was doing. There is one thing that stands out in this troper's memory: the old teacher had told us at the beginning of the year that she would have a class dvoted to listening to recording of music that had satanic messages when played backwards. This was schedulaed for the end of the year, so the new guy taught that class. He had a specific tape that he was supposed to play. After about five minutes he shut it off, went onto youtube, and started playing videos Beatles music being played backwards. Listening to the Beatles in class is great and all, but was not as entertaining as the tape. The old teacher actually came in(newborn child and all) and TOLD him to put the tape back in. He does...and then resumed the beatles when she left. Thankfully, we got to see his youtube search history. Someone should have told the poor bastard that you can find Girls Gone Wild in better places.

This troper, while on vacation in the Philippines, was supposed to meet with his cousin to go to an arcade. However, said cousin's mother, aka this troper's aunt, was hospitalized, and his cousin had to visit her. Instead, he had to hang out with his uncle, who he doesn't exactly like due to him being difficult to talk to, even in their native language, and some of his unusual mannerisms (i.e. lining up at [=McDonald=]'s by going up to the counter and next to a line).
#108851
When this Troper was in high school, he and two other friends formed a very tight-knit group that we still have today. One of the friends had to drop out, however, due to unfortunate circumstances in his Sophomore year. During late Junior year and Senior year, we allowed another kid into the group to take his place, and we jokingly treated him like this. I rememeber a conversation we had sitting right next to the other guy, saying "He's certainly not (friend's name)," and "No sir, he is certainly not (friend's name)," and discussing the ways they were different. But like I said, it was mostly just a joke, and we all remained friends after high school.

This Troper was in a social pragmatics group, which was tight-knit and had been going on for several years. When one of our members left, she was replaced by someone who was, quite honestly, a terrible fit. The rest of the group continued our in-jokes, at Burger King afterwards, one of which was pretending the whole thing was a TV show and we were off filming for the day. He was described as a replacement scrappy character. We sort of felt bad about that, though, and while or the most part our off-camera personalities were exaggerated versions of ourselves (This Troper as a hypersexual who would 'try anything once, then twice, then again with costumes') he was described as offscreen being
TheAce

Same Troper had a German tutor who followed him to make sure he went to class/etc in Highschool. When he went back to visit this year (first year after highschool) the tutor complained that all the other kids he worked with were boring.

In fall of 2008, our HighSchool Chemistry class had a wonderful teacher. Then due to some error in the school district that would cut pensions if they didn't retire, she had to quit in December. The new teacher had no teaching experience, everyone's grade dropped, she was a jerk, everyone starting to hate Chemistry...the {{Hatedom}} was in effect. Finally, in spring 2010 (after nearly three semesters of making people miserable), her contract was not renewed (due to a rule-breaking move she made). Still,
it was for the better. AndThereWasMuchRejoicing. Due to her not improving between her one-semester-only Spring 2009 and the entire 2009-2010 year, it's unlikely that she'll be an AlasPoorScrappy.
#108855
This troper had a teacher who was known for being the nicest teacher in the grade. Had to leave because she was pregnant at the beginning of the year. The new teacher wasn't really a jerk, she was pretty nice, but she was so incredibly boring that she had a huge {{Hatedom}} the whole year, and she still does now.

The first time I saw ''{{Rent}}'' it was a local production with mostly college students (and a few high school seniors). The guy who played Angel was so...''
fabulous'' that no other version of Angel has ever been the same to me.

When this troper had first joined his church's youth group, we had a really cool guy as the minister; i could tell he enjoyed his job and had fun with it. However, he eventually left us to go to another church (One in a city closer to his family, so his kids would get to see their grandparents more often), as we got a new guy in. He seemed promising when our group first met him, but his flaws became apparent once he was chosen. Seemingly overnight, our entire area had been redecorated; about 60% of it was repainted (The other 40% was on hold for now), many decorations we had where trashed, the furniture was ruined (Somebody must have forgotten to cover them when they started painting), and the place was now lit by red Christmas lights strung across the ceiling (Making it feel like a nightclub). It only got worse when it was revealed that he had dropped our entire band in favor of himself playing the guitar very poorly while singing songs that made it feel like we where in a Kindergarten class, while his sermon was a hard-to-follow mess (He seemed incapacitate of finding one subject and sticking with it for the duration of the sermon; practically changing the topic at the drop of a hat). Although many people stopped going after that night, and a decent-sized chunk of us complained about him, our complaints fell of deaf ears because "everybody else" (read: Our parents) loved him.

In my high school, there was a theater teacher that we were all very fond of and who acted as the glue holding the group together. Unfortunately, she transferred out during my sophomore year, leaving a replacement who not only failed to measure up but didn't seem to care as much about running things. In retrospect, we were probably kind of unfair towards her, since she was suffering from some issues I didn't know about at the time, but it was still pretty jarring for us.

This Troper detests Lyra in Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver. One reason is because she is not Kris. This Troper admits it.
#108860
This Troper twice had nice computers that unfortunately broke down (one was from a processor failure. The other was from being fried from
Ameren utility workers playing with the overhead wires when it was snowing), only to be replaced by a weaker and less powerful computer (both times it was replaced by the same computer) that takes forever to load pages. It also can't play a good portion of games either. Yay?

This troper has an odd case of this. When his school merged with another, a number of teachers were let go, or left of their own free will. The school was mostly Caucasion and the school we were merging with was mostly Middle Eastern, so a lot of people assumed it was out of racism. Before we had this really awesome Art teacher who would be condescending when he needed to be, but just like any one of the guys, only really tall and already had facial hair. He left out of race, but not because of any problems with people from the Middle East, but because once when he had to teach a class, a lot of Asian boys thought The London bombings that happened the other year were awesome and the inocent people who were unluckily caught in it had it coming. So we sill had fond memories of him. The teacher to replace him we actually didn't mind, but the teacher who replaced her the year after we all hated, he was patronizing, really old, grumpy, and a bit of a douche. Inverted with my neighbors, they're moving soon and we're looking forward to their replacement (Thought we hoped that the house next to them would move, because its home to a
Mean spirited, bitch old lady and her
possibly peadophilic son and is the reason ''why'' the neibors are moving).

I can't be the only one who ''vastly'' prefers Galuf to Cara in ''FinalFantasyV'', can I?
