She doesn't actually do anything exciting or fun during the day to make her forget, she just doesn't remember that eating is something everyone needs to do. I'm hyperglycemic and with the high blood sugar, I'm just generally not hungry. I eat more by time than by hunger... longest I've gone was four days, at which point a blinding headache and yarfing every time the thought of food entered my head didn't help much. Ended up eating a spoonful of apple jelly at a time, holding onto it as long as I could then another until I was balanced enough to eat something more solid. Now, I try and keep a schedule, eat about an hour after I get up (6pm, work nights) and again at midnight... Vacations mess me up. :P

This troper left his home for college about two months ago. When visiting his family, his mother noticed that he managed to lose 3.5 kilograms within that period. Mind you, that the troper is 180 cm in height, and already weighted a mere 57 kilos when he left. This troper, on the other hand, while he does not often go for long without food (unless you consider half a day or so, and about two mealtimes missed to be long) only manages to do this because he more or less constantly reminds himself to eat. When he's engrossed in something like the Net or gaming, he has to remind himself to get up and get himself something to eat, if only some sort of snack that can be consumed as he goes. ThisTroper is the Family Garbage Disposal but has entire weekends on two meals, if only because he works for Campus Food Services and eats with his break. Still, a combination of being a night owl and focusing too much causes this. He sleeps through breakfast, and writes/plays computer games/programs until he realizes he's been in there too long and needs to eat. Civilization has on more then one occasion stopped this troper from eating all day. I just needed that one more turn!

SilverShoelaces ForgetsToEat frequently. She isn't even busy most of that time; she's just never hungry. It has led some people to believe that she is anorexic (which is true in the technical sense that she is never hungry), while she is really a BigEater when she does remember the feeling of hunger. Sometimes. She eats because the food is good, and not because she's hungry. But because of that and the fact that her hunger signals never reach her brain, she has actually gone to the trouble of putting meals into her planner and setting an alarm for them.

Happens on and off to this troper. A couple of months ago she went so long without eating that she passed out for a couple of seconds, throwing her mother into a worried frenzy. She also makes herself wait at least six hours between meals, which means that most of the time she's not thinking about it. A normal day constitutes her not having breakfast until at least three or four hours after she gets up, and very frequently not at all. Doesn't usually forget dinner, though, since she cooks for the family, and they remind her.

I do this only on very rare occasions -- when I was on my ADD meds, I did it a lot more often, but now I've stopped using them, I've discovered I really like food:Yet I've hardly gained any weight. Huh. BigEater: also TruthInTelevision. However, my roommate does this ''all the time''. I regularly have to point out to her that it's dinner time, and when she has a lot of work to do, she sometimes skips meals on purpose. Geez.

I began doing this when my family life started becoming less than friendly, and I started avoiding sitting at the dinner table. The cousin (the uncle's son) ''wishes'' he was a grazer - and claims to be - but it's more that he simply can't be arsed to eat (there's a suspicion that he may be anorexic). So she'll often have class, then run over to the next building to get some work done in the ceramics studio, then get carried away there and make it back to the theatre just in time for call, and next thing she knows it's halfway through the second act and she's wondering why she feels kind of not well. (This year she remedied the problem by hiding a stash of ramen and a pair of chopsticks backstage.)

This troper, frequently. Overweight since childhood, she was forced to endure crash diets against her will at various points growing up. This, instead of leading to weight loss, instead led to her no longer feeling hunger and getting used to functioning with very little food. Her first sign that she should eat something is generally when she gets so light-headed she can't stand. This troper sometimes forgets to eat, sleep, and sometimes even go to the toilet (he didn't wet himself, his bladder just sort of gave up trying to pee) because he was doing something on the computer. He also forgets to watch his favorite TV shows because he's doing something on the computer, forgets to ''do something else on the computer'' because he's doing something on the computer. Hell, during school he started doing something on the computer that he probably shouldn't have been doing, and he forgot to stop doing it when the teacher came round for a look.

This one takes a certain kind of stimulant for symptoms of ADD, which has the unfortunate side-effect of suppressing one's appetite. Couple that with the medication making me focus on my work and a pre-existing love of MMO's, and we have a troper who can't even remember to eat the noodles he put on the stovetop 2 hours ago.

Several times, this Troper will get online mid-afternoon, and next she looks up its midnight, and all she's had was a cup of coffee and a poptart this morning. Then she decides to add a few more trope examples and maybe watch another episode of anime, thinking she'll throw something in the microwave at two. She actually does about half the time.

This troper has a tendency to forget breakfast, forget to buy lunch, not eat anything when she gets home, and then not want to eat dinner because her metabolism never kicked into gear and she's not hungry. She does this during the summer when she has no schedule, too, frequently realising she should eat, going out into the kitchen, and making herself a cup of tea instead while completely forgetting what she came out for in the first place.

This troper frequently goes 16-24 hours without food. If the sugar input (by the means of espresso shots that probably qualify as poison in most countries) is right, he doesn't really need to eat. When he does however, he is a BigEater (and a SupremeChef).

As a rather shut in individual, and someone who spends the majority of his day writing or playing vidja games, my stomach has shrunken to the point of being able to go days without food without really noticing. This pisses off my overweight mom to no end, and my granmda has suggested I write diet book based on how I mange to do it, though it'd pretty much consist of a single page with the words "Play Tetirs" on it. I also somehow manage to subvert it though, cuz when I DO get hungry, I could basically spend all day eating non stop and never be quite satisfied. I'm like a werewolf, since it only eat once in a blue moon, and I keep bothering everyone to get me take out and pizza, and I don't get hairy or crave the blood of the innocent.

I have a tendency to forget to eat, but usually I can remind myself enough; it's not that I get distracted, it's that certain medications suppress my appetite. If it goes on for too long I'll either get to the point of "wow I'm shaking" or I go and eat a house. Even then, I don't eat breakfast or supper really; instead of the traditional 3-meals-a-day I have giant 3 p.m. (or 15:00) lunches or tons of snacks all in a row. It's meh.

My friend's parents were considering getting my friend's younger brother an apartment in the city when he was in high school, because they lived quite far from the city and were getting tired of driving him back and forth to school and soccer practice five days a week. However, they had to remind him to eat on a daily basis, and thus decided against it out of fear that he would starve himself to death out of absent-mindedness if left to his own devices.

My years in high school (the school cafeteria food in my Swedish high school was free, but vile) taught me how to ignore hunger for hours on end. How did I lose ten pounds? I went on the "I'm going to grind a few levels on this RPG, finish a few chapters on this book, and edit this article -- ''then'' I'll eat" diet. I ''love'' food, too...

this troper forgets to eat, sleep, check his webcomics, anything if given a sufficiently interesting programming project. When I finish, I eat everything in sight, pass out, and then spend about an hour sifting through my RSS.

This troper calls this the "Show Diet". Dancing, singing, and otherwise running around a lot all day? Check. Choosing between healthy sit-down meal and going to rehearsal? Check. Refusal to eat junk food because of vegetarianism and commitment to losing weight? Check.

This Troper readily and willingly eats (and eats a ''lot'') whenever a real meal is provided, but when left to her own devices, tends to forget. A large part of it is that I don't notice myself getting hungry until I'm ''really'' hungry, so if I'm distracted by anything else--reading, listening to music, [{TVTropesWillEnhanceYourLife TVTropes]], and the like--I simply won't notice time passing. Out of concern for my health, I'm always sure to eat breakfast on days when I have to go to school before lunchtime, but there's been more than once when, after being home alone all day, I get to supper and realize I've only had two cookies, a handful of chips, and a banana since supper the night before. This leads to problems when I try to do physical exercise like bike riding and forget I've had less than 500 calories or something the entire day...

This troper has long since lost count of how many meals he's missed because of browsing tvtropes (or Wikipedia, or ImpishIdea, or the university library...)

This Troper has the same problem as many of you-- the Internet and homework distract her so much she'll just not realize that she should probably get off her ass and eat something. She'll eat like a cow when at home and her mother calls her for dinner (her family's big on the whole "sit around the table" thing), but when she's at college...

This Troper and her father are both frequent victims of this trope. It goes something like this: "Oh, work/the internet is very absorbing... Hmm, I think I need to use the restroom. Ohgodtheroomisspinningohsweetmotherofjesus WHERE IS THE KITCHEN?" We both joke about it all the time, but the problem is that our tempers also tend to get a bit short when hungry, which leads to a lot of yelling at bad computers before realizing "Hmm, maybe I'm just hungry."

This Troper very often has an incredibly busy schedule (a cappella/theatre rehearsals, classwork, meetings, etc.), and thus sometimes get so absorbed in all the things she has to do that she completely forgets to give herself time to eat. After about 12 hours I start to get headaches and my hands become shaky, and around then I figure out that I need food.

This troper doesn't go to the crazy lengths of some of the other people here, but I have been accused of being an anorexic multiple times now, due to my tendency to never eat at school. Like, ever. The last time I've eaten during the hours of 9.00-3.00 was months ago. I think, however, I make up for it by eating a lot at home. It would explain why I'm so fat.

This Troper used to be on ADHD medication, in ninth grade. Ever since then, I won't know I'm hungry until I'm weak and shaky. I often get preoccupied with classes and writing, so of course she forgets to eat. It's especially bad in the summer when storms are frequent. And yes, this troper has been underweight, and is now on the very small end of "healthy weight."

This tropette is perfectly capable of spending hours readins, watching television, or computering without food, bathroom breaks, and only occasional water. Many a time her mother has come home at 8 to ask 'What did you eat for dinner?' for the reply 'Oh. Um....'

Averted: I almost never forget to eat, but when I do I can only miss two meals before feeling dizzy on account of my hypoglycemia. I also like the break from schoolwork my meals afford me.

Funny enough, the bit about the ADHD meds applied to me - I would forget to eat or simply not be hungry. Once I cold turkey'd the meds, my appetite became the stuff of legends. Or at least, the common joke amongst friends.

This tropette is simply not hungry sometimes, and the rest of the time I lives on tea and coffee (I commented on something above; if you scroll up, you'll probably find me). I've been known to grab a cup of coffee/tea/cocoa (depends on what's available), skip lunch, and sleep through dinner.

This tropette slept through breakfast. Apparently, her brother, father, and mother all tried waking her up, and only got: "Eh..."
