ForgetsToEat
#50663
This Troper often does not get hunger feelings, and only realizes the need to eat when her stomach starts complaining. She also forgets to eat without a set schedule, leading to 'a snack and dinner' when not at school, or more commonly, being too lazy to get a snack and sleeping through dinner. During long school vacations, she pretty much lives on candy and water.
#50664
This troper on occasions. He has been known to get so engrossed with whatever project needs his attention that he only notices he has to eat when someone else goes by with food.
#50665
Although this troper can't eat for about an hour after she first wakes up, lest she gets ill, she usually tends to forget to eat until about 4-5 in the afternoon. As a result she usually has "meal" instead of breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
#50666
I have the same "can't eat for about an hour" problem, and frequently get absorbed enough online, with a household project, etc., that eating just doesn't occur to me. I think my record is realizing I'd been up and busy for about 10 hours and had not yet eaten anything solid (was taking in liquids). I'm not really an "organized meals" person for the most part, but tend to graze throughout the day.
#50667
Both of you. Stop being me.
#50668
All three of you, try foods which contain lots of water in the morning. Like fruit. (Or cucumber and/or tomatoes, if you call them vegtables.) Stay away from bread or cereals or stuff like that early in the day. Did I just give you FridgeBrilliance?? :D I hope so.
#50669
One day, I was in "flow" -- a state where burning genius turns an artist into a creating-zombie -- finishing a music video, when my step-father left to pick up dinner. I was finished by the time he got back and starving after not having eaten for hours. So when he started distributing everyone's orders, I asked what he got me. Taken aback, he told me that when he asked me, I said I wasn't hungry and didn't want anything. ''{{facepalm}}''
#50670
This troper often forgets to eat if he's focused on something. He makes up for it by being a BigEater the rest of the time.
#50671
@/{{Nomic}}'s brother often blames him for being quilty of this trope. Usually it's not so much that he forgets to eat but that he eats enough biscuits in-between mealtimes to not be hungry. Altho sometimes he has forgotten to eat something and noticed only when his stomach starts loudly protesting.
#50672
Quote from this troper, an hour after having dinner. "Oh dear, I just realised I didn't have breakfast." He then had breakfast.
#50673
This troper is a painter, and will often enough get caught up in his work, and well, it happens.
#50674
This troper suffers from a bad case of programmer's trance. His personal record is three missed meals in a row. He then started using an alarm clock... it seems to work.
#50676
This troper usually forgot to eat at college while online--aided by the limited lab hours, but complicated by the equally-limited cafeteria hours.
#50677
This troper is a constant offender of this trope when she's on the internet; ironically enough, she's a BigEater.
#50678
This Troper was in a computer graphics class, when the teacher announce that it was time for lunch, none of the guys flinched. I was the only one who took a break to eat!
#50679
This troper frequently skips lunch. Usually happens during the holidays/at the weekend.
#50680
This troper forgot to eat dinner twice because of
this site. Heck, I haven't had dinner yet tonight either. Also, I've forgotten to eat breakfast on one occasion for no reason.
#50681
This troper does this a lot. She concentrates so intently that she can actually heat up a room by a good five degrees. Once she gets going, nothing stops her. ...This article just reminded her that she hasn't had breakfast or lunch, today. Seriously.
#50682
I once forgot to eat for four whole days. I still have no idea how I managed to do that. To be fair, I was horribly jet-lagged at the time.
#50683
This troper has a tendency to do this. In fact, he just now remembered to get breakfast.
#50684
I once forgot to eat for two whole days. "Luckily", my body made up for it by making me faint at work and led to everyone thinking I had an eating problem.
Thanks, body.
#50685
This troper, due to the ridiculous hours (who the hell in college eats dinner before 7 PM?) of the dining halls on her college campus and the distance from her dorm often simply doesn't eat meals. At least this year she had an excuse -- last year one of the dining halls was ''in her dorm'' and she still skipped one or two meals a day. On the bright side, she ''lost'' weight freshman year instead of gaining it. At home, she ''still'' often doesn't eat because she doesn't want to deal with the cleanup.
#50686
This Troper is usually an extremely greedy person and ExtremeOmnivore, but on more than one occasion (I.E. when I get a new
Sims game) as I never eat breakfast, I end up not eating until dinner. Oops.
#50687
This Lurker gets into programming trances for several days and considers eating a pesky chore during this time. Several liters of strong black tea and a glass of yoghurt should be enough for a day, right?
#50688
A ''glass'' of yoghurt?
#50689
Sounds like one of those above people is American while the other is European. Bonus points for guessing who is which.
#50690
Well, since this American troper lives partly on black tea (the other part is coffee; people tend to drink my stock of black tea ><) and frequently drinks yogurt as well (yes, from a glass), my bet is that the first one is the American.
#50691
This Troper forgets to eat all the time, regardless of how interesting the thing I was just doing was.
#50692
This troper, who is normally a BigEater , at one point while deep in a project, ate four meals in a week, filling the gaps with unfiltered John Silver's and coffee.
#50693
This troper will often forget to eat when I'm focused on something - or maybe just because I don't want to eat. During high school I developed an absurdly high tolerance for hunger because I had the last lunch period. It also let me lose a ton of weight with literally no effort.
#50694
This troper once forgot to eat for an entire day and when she went off to Taekwondo, she nearly fainted because of the lack of energy.
#50695
This troper often forgets to eat normal stuff, especially on weekends and holidays. That is, she'll spend the whole day drinking cup after cup of coffee, maybe munching on some random snack, but then she'll realize it's 5 AM and she's had nothing but five cans of coke and some cookies in the whole day.
#50696
This Troper's record is three days without food (Third day?
Admitidly, he takes a bit of cream (well, milk) in his coffee, and very much continued drinking copious amounts of that. Said troper averages out about one meal a day (sometimes more, usually less), and usually not even a very large meal, and very simple fare at that—something like just a single bowl of cereal my meal for the day (my father jokingly commented I had the stomach the size of a walnut). Used to weigh ''180lbs'' when I was ''ten''. Twenty, and now at ''135lbs'' . On a near-starvation diet, though this isn't on purpose. In my case, however, it has more to do with having a suppressed hunger response. I have not been hungry in years. Not that [[TVTropesWillRuinYourLife TV Tropes isn't going to get me killed soon enough because of this.
#50697
A kinda tragic example. This troper's mother was rushed to the hospital when she was 13. She and her sister were left alone for 4 days. This troper sat upright sitting in the window waiting for her to come home and forgot to eat AND sleep for 4 days. She snapped out of it when her aunt came to take her to live in north Carolina. Where her mother was pronounced dead after two weeks. Heroic BSOD. Sniff...
#50698
Do you want a hug?
#50699
This troper has forgotten to eat several times. Why?
Take a wild guess.... One instance years ago is directly associated with [=SimCopter=].
#50700
This troper's brother has, on three occasions, ended up vomiting because he went too long without eating. All three times, he only neglected to eat because he was to busy playing laser-tag, having a water balloon fight, etc...
#50701
This troper has a friend who simply forgets to eat. She doesn't actually do anything exciting or fun during the day to make her forget, she just doesn't remember that eating is something everyone needs to do. You'd think that the piercing pain in an empty stomach would remind her, but she apparently "doesn't get hungry." Ugh.
#50702
This troper was too lazy to feed herself one day, and she had Taekwondo at the end of the day. She almost passed out because she was so exhausted.
#50703
As of writing this this troper's done this two days a row. Should probably stop doing that, if only for my health.
#50704
This Troper has done this during NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). This was because she was on some god-forsaken psycho diet pill, which, among other things, 1) completely eliminated the need to sleep, 2) impaired my judgment horribly, and 3) got rid of my typical hunger response (that is, lowered energy and blood-sugar crashes. I don't get hunger pangs most of the time - if I did, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem.) Combine that with the fact that I was writing a novel, aaaaand...
#50705
I don't forget to eat so much as I tend to put it off as long as possible, because it's boring and I'd rather work on other things.
#50706
This troper once went 24 hours without eating anything bigger than a granola bar (my TrademarkFavoriteFood) because I went to bed hungry -- mainly because I was too tired to care at that point -- and then proceeded to sleep for at least twelve hours, possibly closer to fifteen. And, defying the purpose of breakfast, I never have an appetite right after I wake up; it usually takes at least an hour before I feel hungry, frequently even longer. I only noticed the problem when orneriness brought on by stealth hunger caused me to get into a pointless argument. More commonly -- usually I don't go ''that'' long without eating -- I forget to eat because I'm either engrossed in some new thing or just ''don't feel hungry''. Like, the last time I ate was about seven or eight hours ago, and I only feel slightly hungry. Although my stomach is making gurgly sounds.
#50707
This troper never ''forgets'' to eat. His internal hunger signs are quite noticeable. He frequently is too lazy to get up and get something to eat though, even if it's merely going to the kitchen to get a piece of bread.
#50708
*waves little flag reading "Me Too!"* I mostly blame it on the fact that I rarely to never ate lunch for most of high school, preferring to hide in the library and read TerryPratchett books instead of dealing with the ludicrously loud, hot, and crowded lunchroom, but now I'm usually hungry for two meals a day at tops and occasionally forget to eat even when I ''am'' hungry.
#50709
Hey I do that too! The cafeteria at my college is always unbelievably crowded and loud so I either forget about lunch altogether or sneakily eat in the library while reading (it's ''heaven'' when I get away with it).
#50710
This troper, despite loving food of all kinds and being a BigEater when it -is- mealtime, oddly fulfills this trope as well simply out of having so many other interesting things to do.
#50711
I'm hyperglycemic and with the high blood sugar, I'm just generally not hungry. I eat more by time than by hunger... longest I've gone was four days, at which point a blinding headache and yarfing every time the thought of food entered my head didn't help much. Ended up eating a spoonful of apple jelly at a time, holding onto it as long as I could then another until I was balanced enough to eat something more solid. Now, I try and keep a schedule, eat about an hour after I get up (6pm, work nights) and again at midnight... Vacations mess me up. :P
#50712
This troper left his home for college about two months ago. When visiting his family, his mother noticed that he managed to lose 3.5 kilograms within that period. Mind you, that the troper is 180 cm in height, and already weighted a mere 57 kilos when he left. When his mother asked if he had anorexia or something, this troper simply stated that he did not enjoy the act of eating, and would rather spend his time and money on manga and videogames. Because of this, this troper is now weighed every time he visits his home, and is really going to have it if he ever dares to lose a single gram again.
#50713
This troper, on the other hand, while he does not often go for long without food (unless you consider half a day or so, and about two mealtimes missed to be long) only manages to do this because he more or less constantly reminds himself to eat. When he's engrossed in something like the Net or gaming, he has to remind himself to get up and get himself something to eat, if only some sort of snack that can be consumed as he goes. This is revealed by the fact that he has remained in the same weight range for the past 2 or so years, despite going through puberty.
#50714
This male troper tends to do this and fall into irregular eating patterns whenever he's living alone. Hey, food requires focus, and I have a habit of focusing on things (this site, for one).
#50715
Funny, little off-topic troper tale: I was eating some toasts while reading this page. Then, exactly when I was reading the statement "food requires focus", the honey I had on the toast I was just holding started to drip off the toast (as I was apparently holding it at an angle), onto my hand and my chair... So you could say, the validity of that statement was demonstrated to me just the moment I was reading it.
#50716
Food? Right, that's that thing you do to not die, huh? @/{{Neep}} once forgot to eat lunch, went on a twenty-mile bike ride for an afternoon amusement, came home to go out to dinner with his family, and nearly fainted while waiting to be seated at the restaurant. Apparently coming close to passing out makes your vision tunnel until you can't see anything.
#50717
This troper. Laziness + inability to cook + video games is a really bad combination.
#50718
This troper's brother is a BigEater, but when he gets a new video game, he holes up in his room and forgets to eat unless we (my family and I) tell him to eat. This troper averts this and PoopSocking, by pausing the game (or letting my character getting killed), to go eat, go to the bathroom, etc.
#50719
I used to forgot to eat in high school. Well -- my record is a bit more than 24h when I skipped several meals, have meeting during lunch break and then have break cancelled to finish earlier. However if I have routine of eating missing it even for an hour....
#50720
This troper, during freshman year at highschool, didn't eat anything big for a whole month without any sideeffects... Then again, I hardly ever ate and I hardly ever eat. I don't really know why. Maybe that's why I'm only like 5'5 and weight 115 pounds. Eh, who really knows?
#50721
ThisTroper is the
Family Garbage Disposal but has entire weekends on two meals, if only because he works for Campus Food Services and eats with his break. Still, a combination of being a night owl and focusing too much causes this. He sleeps through breakfast, and writes/plays computer games/programs until he realizes he's been in there too long and needs to eat. Civilization has on more then one occasion stopped this troper from eating all day. I just needed that one more turn!
#50722
SilverShoelaces ForgetsToEat frequently. She isn't even busy most of that time; she's just never hungry. It has led some people to believe that she is anorexic (which is true in the technical sense that she is never hungry), while she is really a BigEater when she does remember the feeling of hunger. Sometimes. She eats because the food is good, and not because she's hungry. But because of that and the fact that her hunger signals never reach her brain, she has actually gone to the trouble of putting meals into her planner and setting an alarm for them.
#50723
Happens on and off to this troper. A couple of months ago she went so long without eating that she passed out for a couple of seconds, throwing her mother into a worried frenzy. She also makes herself wait at least six hours between meals, which means that most of the time she's not thinking about it. A normal day constitutes her not having breakfast until at least three or four hours after she gets up, and very frequently not at all. Doesn't usually forget dinner, though, since she cooks for the family, and they remind her.
#50725
I began doing this when my family life started becoming less than friendly, and I started avoiding sitting at the dinner table. At some point, I became used to eating a single meal, somewhere near 4pm, but always in a social context. Nowadays I don't have much of a social life, so I eat toast sometime in the morning, and that's all. Eating alone is too boring. On the upside, when I have someone to talk to while I eat, I eat the equivalent of four or five meals at once. And then sleep a lot.
#50726
This troper's cousin, uncle and uni mate all need significant prodding to eat anything, and even more prodding to eat anything remotely substantial. The uncle regards himself as a grazer who resents the concept of meals as a chore. The cousin (the uncle's son) ''wishes'' he was a grazer - and claims to be - but it's more that he simply can't be arsed to eat (there's a suspicion that he may be anorexic). The uni mate... probably fits the concept of the trope most accurately, usually forgetting food due to computer addiction.
#50727
This troper frequently forgets to eat - sometimes for a whole day.
#50728
This Hypoglycemic Troper has this problem. And since not eating can result in headaches, chills, paleness, shaking, any combination of those (and more), he really has tried to be more careful these days.
#50729
This Troper does this as well. Most commonly I miss breakfast and maybe lunch. My personal record for number of meals missed in a row was five: I did not eat one day and almost had nothing the next. There was no excuse for that. I was just involved with video games, computers, and good novels.
#50730
This troper has this problem when she doesn't have a set schedule (i.e. she's not in school). And usually, it's not so much that she forgets to eat, more that she procrastinates on it because she's so engrossed in reading/surfing the web.
#50731
This troper honestly loves to eat, but with a combination of intense focus on things I'm doing at a time and an irregular work schedule (I work graveyard), I often end up just eating once a day because the time just zooms on by. It's probably the only reason I haven't become really big, and I'm big already. My brother, on the other hand, is rail thin and also forgets to eat many times. He's even admitted that he doesn't really like eating much, and it's something our mother constantly frets about with him, to the point she'll be wringing her hands at while he's at school wondering if he's even eaten.
#50732
This troper if she gets in to online games. This is why she can't play them anymore.
#50733
This happens often to this troper, but sometimes she notices that she has forgotten to eat but decides it doesn't matter. Being a little awkward about how much she eats and weighs, she usually thinks missing a meal or 2 doesn't matter.
#50734
Often deliberate with This Troper, using the unused lunch cash to buy counterfeit trading cards instead.
#50735
This troper is both a college student and an actor, and occasionally makes it worse by taking studio art classes. So she'll often have class, then run over to the next building to get some work done in the ceramics studio, then get carried away there and make it back to the theatre just in time for call, and next thing she knows it's halfway through the second act and she's wondering why she feels kind of not well. (This year she remedied the problem by hiding a stash of ramen and a pair of chopsticks backstage.)
#50736
This troper, frequently. Overweight since childhood, she was forced to endure crash diets against her will at various points growing up. This, instead of leading to weight loss, instead led to her no longer feeling hunger and getting used to functioning with very little food. This, coupled with the more typical reasons for this trope (ie, becoming so engrossed in an activity that everything else falls by the wayside), leads to this becoming a rather serious problem. Her first sign that she should eat something is generally when she gets so light-headed she can't stand. It's gotten to the point where her friends, instead of greeting her with something like "Hi, how are you?" almost always say "Have you eaten yet today?"
#50737
And if you say no, They will forcibly drag you to the nearest food source, as someone just did to me today.
#50738
This troper sometimes forgets to eat, sleep, and sometimes even go to the toilet (he didn't wet himself, his bladder just sort of gave up trying to pee) because he was doing something on the computer. He also forgets to watch his favorite TV shows because he's doing something on the computer, forgets to ''do something else on the computer'' because he's doing something on the computer. Hell, during school he started doing something on the computer that he probably shouldn't have been doing, and he forgot to stop doing it when the teacher came round for a look.
#50739
This Troper refuses to skip breakfast, but during the last musical as a high-school techie, I found myself skipping half of lunch and dinner to get more done. Not good when you're already working 15-hour days, counting classes.
#50740
This tropette tends to do this when she's gotten herself into a new anime, fandom, researching, writing, or basically anything else that involves any amount of concentration...It also gets her yelled at.
#50741
This Troper, who is an avid WoW player, is thankful that his mother comes in to remind him to eat when he doesn't leave his room for several hours. Even if his stomach is digesting itself for sustenance, he won't notice it himself as long as he's in a raid.
#50742
This troper is an inversion. No matter how engrossed she is in something, or asleep, she always wakes up/realizes she needs to eat at the exact time she needs to. Cue weird looks from family when she's deeply asleep on a couch, then, with no prodding whatsoever, sits straight up and proclaims "where's my food?" It gives some people a sense of
slight Narm on her part. She doesn't know why (or '''how''') she does it...she also knows the day and relative time instinctively. She's creepy, man. ''* shudders* ''
#50743
This Troper often does this for days on end. Not helped by the fact that she never really ''gets'' hungry... or the fact that
she's already rather sickly as-is. She's been hospitalized several times because lack of energy has made her illnesses way worse than they have to be. *sigh*
#50744
This Troper has been known to accidentally skip lunch now and then, leading to a family in-joke stating that he sustains himself on video games.
#50745
This troper just barely averted this;she was so caught up in a pm conversation that, if her mother hadn't come in and told her how late it was, she would have forgotten to eat dinner.
#50746
This Troper has NEVER had this problem, and has a low tolerance for hunger. Her mother has the WHOLE FAMILY on the Atkins Diet despite only HER needing it -.- Do the math, and add in that said Troper has some sort of medical condition (currently Hyperinsulinemia, though is wondering if it's something else due to various other symptoms and lack of others) which makes it worse.
#50747
This Troper would also punch people out if they call her anorexic.
#50748
DON'T CALL ME A STICK YOU ******* s! *FALCON PAWNCH*
#50749
This other troper just read that as "Falcon Paunch" and feels rather horrible about it.
#50750
This one takes a certain kind of stimulant for symptoms of ADD, which has the unfortunate side-effect of suppressing one's appetite. Couple that with the medication making me focus on my work and a pre-existing love of MMO's, and we have a troper who can't even remember to eat the noodles he put on the stovetop 2 hours ago.
#50751
I'm the one who put the message at the bottom of the trope page. Yes, I had done so.
#50752
Several times, this Troper will get online mid-afternoon, and next she looks up its midnight, and all she's had was a cup of coffee and a poptart this morning. Then she decides to add a few more trope examples and maybe watch another episode of anime, thinking she'll throw something in the microwave at two. She actually does about half the time.
#50753
This troper has a tendency to forget breakfast, forget to buy lunch, not eat anything when she gets home, and then not want to eat dinner because her metabolism never kicked into gear and she's not hungry. She does this during the summer when she has no schedule, too, frequently realising she should eat, going out into the kitchen, and making herself a cup of tea instead while completely forgetting what she came out for in the first place.
#50754
This troper normally oversleets and skips breakfast. Then only eats when prompted by others or headaches. Of course, constantly drinking tea helps make the headaches take longer to kick in and spreads meals further apart.
#50755
This troper has the 'not hungry when you first wake up' problem, which doesn't help when I work or have class early. This usually leads to grazing and/or liquid meals between classes or on my break. My first real meal of the day often comes between 5 and 8.
#50756
This troper tends to go for hours and hours without eating, than realize that she is starving and devour everything in sight. Skipping a meal or two is quite commonplace for her. Like many others who forget to eat, her case is often caused by her getting thoroughly absorbed in a project. She actually looks forward to moving out because then, and only then, will no one pester her about her eating habits.
#50757
This troper, who hates to waste food, has a friend, that whenever he comes over to hang out, this troper has to remind him to clear his plate so that a plateful of food doesn't go to waste for nothing.
#50758
This troper used to skip lunch and dinner a lot (and now still does it on occasions) when working on stuffs those need great concentration (ie. drawing and difficult homework), and she is usually already too tired to eat by the time she is finished. Due to her health problems, her parents gave her quite a hell when they found out about it.
#50759
@/PhoenixFire: Food? What is this "food" you speak of?
#50760
This troper frequently goes 16-24 hours without food. If the sugar input (by the means of espresso shots that probably qualify as poison in most countries) is right, he doesn't really need to eat. When he does however, he is a BigEater (and a SupremeChef).
#50761
As a rather shut in individual, and someone who spends the majority of his day writing or playing vidja games, my stomach has shrunken to the point of being able to go days without food without really noticing. This pisses off my overweight mom to no end, and my granmda has suggested I write diet book based on how I mange to do it, though it'd pretty much consist of a single page with the words "Play Tetirs" on it. I also somehow manage to subvert it though, cuz when I DO get hungry, I could basically spend all day eating non stop and never be quite satisfied. I'm like a werewolf, since it only eat once in a
blue moon, and I keep bothering everyone to get me take out and pizza, and I don't get hairy or
crave the blood of the innocent.
#50762
Yon troper does this not because he's concentrating on something - it's more due to his brain being almost perpetually
out to lunch.
#50763
I get so caught up in writing and drawing comics that I tend to forget to eat. The longest I've ever gone without food was three days... I think. I dunno, the memory's a bit blurry. Anyways, its gotten to the point where I suffer dizzy spells, and my sister refuses to let me leave the house without a snack or two. I'm trying to get into the habit of carrying snacks in my pockets so that this kind of thing doesn't happen.
#50764
This Troper(Zloke) forgets to eat and sometimes sleep when working on schoolwork, stories for table top rpgs, or when just reading a really interesting book.
#50765
This Troper forgets to eat and drink while playing on the computer. If there is something to drink at the PC I'll drink it, but if there isn't is it not so much of a problem either.
#50766
This Troper says hi. Mostly happens when she's on the computer or on the TV. Case in point, I spend 29 hours straight working on a story idea. This trope happens a lot on campus too but gets subverted there as she often has a snackbox on her person. Sometimes, though,
she forgets the presence of the snackbox.
#50767
I have a tendency to forget to eat, but usually I can remind myself enough; it's not that I get distracted, it's that certain medications suppress my appetite. If it goes on for too long I'll either get to the point of "wow I'm shaking" or I go and eat a house. Even then, I don't eat breakfast or supper really; instead of the traditional 3-meals-a-day I have giant 3 p.m. (or 15:00) lunches or tons of snacks all in a row. It's meh.
#50768
My friend's parents were considering getting my friend's younger brother an apartment in the city when he was in high school, because they lived quite far from the city and were getting tired of driving him back and forth to school and soccer practice five days a week. However, they had to remind him to eat on a daily basis, and thus decided against it out of fear that he would starve himself to death out of absent-mindedness if left to his own devices.
#50769
My years in high school (the school cafeteria food in my Swedish high school was free, but vile) taught me how to ignore hunger for hours on end. Nowadays, when I realise that I'm hungry when I'm in the middle of something (
Wiki walking, for example) I plan to ignore it until I'm done with what I'm doing, but after ignoring it for about half an hour, it kind of... goes away and I forget about it. When the hunger returns in full force between six and ten hours later, however, I need food ''right now'' or I'll go all shaky and practically collapse.
#50770
This troper,
once or twice. #QUOTE#'''Friend''': When was the last time you ate? #QUOTE#'''Seiryu''': I have no idea. Probably breakfast. #QUOTE#'''Friend''': Oh, okay. #QUOTE#'''Seiryu''': Yesterday. #QUOTE#'''Friend''': '''''GO EAT!'''''

This troper has forgone eating so many times now that any strong smell of food leaves her nauseous.
#50772
This troper has a full load at high school and a local community college and often forgets to eat while trying to keep up with the workload, often for twelve to eighteen hour stretches.
#50773
This troper, much to the dismay of his female friends. I could go for a couple of days without noticing, except I find myself in possession of a VerbalTic after the first 10 or so hours (namely, "God ''damn it''")
#50774
Food has never particularly interested this troper (not in a mentally ill kind of way, I'm just not fussed), so he often forgets to eat food that's ''right there'', or just doesn't even consider eating for hours at a time before suddenly realising after about ten hours that, yeah, maybe I should eat something.
#50775
How did I lose ten pounds? I went on the "I'm going to grind a few levels on this RPG, finish a few chapters on this book, and edit this article -- ''then'' I'll eat" diet. I ''love'' food, too...
#50776
this troper forgets to eat, sleep, check his webcomics, anything if given a sufficiently interesting programming project. When I finish, I eat everything in sight, pass out, and then
spend about an hour sifting through my RSS.
#50777
This troper calls this the "Show Diet". Dancing, singing, and otherwise running around a lot all day? Check. Choosing between healthy sit-down meal and going to rehearsal? Check. Refusal to eat junk food because of vegetarianism and commitment to losing weight? Check.

This Troper readily and willingly eats (and eats a ''lot'') whenever a real meal is provided, but when left to her own devices, tends to forget. A large part of it is that I don't notice myself getting hungry until I'm ''really'' hungry, so if I'm distracted by anything else--reading, listening to music, [{TVTropesWillEnhanceYourLife TVTropes]], and the like--I simply won't notice time passing. Out of concern for my health, I'm always sure to eat breakfast on days when I have to go to school before lunchtime, but there's been more than once when, after being home alone all day, I get to supper and realize I've only had two cookies, a handful of chips, and a banana since supper the night before. This leads to problems when I try to do physical exercise like bike riding and forget I've had less than 500 calories or something the entire day...

This troper has long since lost count of how many meals he's missed because of browsing tvtropes (or Wikipedia, or ImpishIdea, or the university library...)
#50780
This Troper has the same problem as many of you-- the Internet and homework distract her so much she'll just not realize that she should probably get off her ass and eat something. She'll eat like a cow when at home and her mother calls her for dinner (her family's big on the whole "sit around the table" thing), but when she's at college...

This Troper and her father are both frequent victims of this trope. It goes something like this: "Oh, work/the internet is very absorbing... Hmm, I think I need to use the restroom. Ohgodtheroomisspinningohsweetmotherofjesus WHERE IS THE KITCHEN?" We both joke about it all the time, but the problem is that our tempers also tend to get a bit short when hungry, which leads to a lot of yelling at bad computers before realizing "Hmm, maybe I'm
just hungry."

This Troper very often has an incredibly busy schedule (a cappella/theatre rehearsals, classwork, meetings, etc.), and thus sometimes get so absorbed in all the things she has to do that she completely forgets to give herself time to eat. After about 12 hours I start to get headaches and my hands become shaky, and around then I figure out that I need food.
#50783
This troper doesn't go to the crazy lengths of some of the other people here, but I have been accused of being an anorexic multiple times now, due to my tendency to never eat at school. Like, ever. The last time I've eaten during the hours of 9.00-3.00 was months ago. I think, however, I make up for it by eating a lot at home. It would explain why I'm so fat.

You know you're a sad case of this when the only thing saving you from
gluttony is {{sloth}}!
#50785
This Troper used to be on ADHD medication, in ninth grade. Ever since then, I won't know I'm hungry until I'm weak and shaky. I often get preoccupied with classes and writing, so of course she forgets to eat. It's especially bad in the summer when storms are frequent. And yes, this troper has been underweight, and is now on the very small end of "healthy weight."
#50786
This tropette is perfectly capable of spending hours readins, watching television, or computering without food, bathroom breaks, and only occasional water. Many a time her mother has come home at 8 to ask 'What did you eat for dinner?' for the reply 'Oh. Um....'
#50787
Averted: I almost never forget to eat, but when I do I can only miss two meals before feeling dizzy on account of my hypoglycemia. I also like the break from schoolwork my meals afford me.
#50788
Funny enough, the bit about the ADHD meds applied to me - I would forget to eat or simply not be hungry. Once I cold turkey'd the meds, my appetite became the stuff of legends. Or at least, the common joke amongst friends.
#50789
This tropette is simply not hungry sometimes, and the rest of the time I lives on tea and coffee (I commented on something above; if you scroll up, you'll probably find me). I've been known to grab a cup of coffee/tea/cocoa (depends on what's available), skip lunch, and sleep through dinner.

This tropette
slept through breakfast. Apparently, her brother, father, and mother all tried waking her up, and only got: "Eh..."
