This troper had spent most of her life exclusively attracted to men. Then, age seventeen, she meets a girl in her theater class. Troper has always described this as the "Oh, ''shit''" moment - not because she has a problem with that sort of thing, but because a whole lot of things in her life suddenly made quite a bit more sense.

Believe it or not, this troper was actually someone's closet key. Being the innocent and oblivious teenager I was, I had no idea he was attracted to me. He came out to me one day, and told me I was his "type". Prior to meeting me, he said he was never attracted to another man, but had been questioning his sexuality for quite some time. It also explained why he always seemed to get real touchy feely with me, {almost reaching Haruhi levels at one point!} which I didn't like very much. Interesting inversion with a professor at this troper's college. She came out as lesbian when she was fairly young and dated women almost exclusively...until she met the man who is now her husband and realized, much to her shock, she was bisexual. Admittedly, it was the 1970's when she came out, a strictly NoBisexuals era, and claims that looking back on it, she occasionally would be attracted to men but chalked it up to RomanticFriendships because she simply preferred women.

I always wondered why, when I was little, I kept having obsessions with older girls...in second grade it was my fourth-grade reading partner Hannah, and in fifth grade it was a sixth-grader named Carly who was kind of like KimPossible in real life (except for the cheerleader part, until middle school anyway). I found my CK in my sophomore year. His name was Jared. Handsome, friendly, and strong as an ox, he was my ultimate fantasy. Then Halloween came, and he came out of the closet and revealed me as his crush. Well, OneThingLedToAnother, and now, we're a happy, loving couple, 2 years strong and showing no signs of stopping. (Hilariously, when I told my friends I had a boyfriend, they weren't suprised. Apparently, my mannerisms led them to the answer long before I figured it out. Go figure.)

The Closet Keys came gradually. My first girlcrush was on one of the Lucent Dosier dancers and then after a while I started reading manga. CLAMP charactters are sexy regardless of gender that contributed a bit but the bishonens kinda had the reverse effect. However as soon as I found out who Olivia Mira Armstrong was my closet pretty much collapsed in on itself.

HOLY SH**! Olivier made ME realize I was bi! She really seems to have that effect on people... Yeah. I started thinking maybe I was a little bit bi in seventh, but it was just wondering. Then in 8th grade I read Fullmetal Alchemist. And realized I wasn't.

Alistair. My constant, unhealthy fuzzy feelings over a man who wasn't even ''real'' pretty much dragged me out of my inner closet kicking and screaming. Of course, it seemed to be limited to Perverse Asexual Cuddlelust, so I'm still not entirely sure if I'm gay or a romantic asexual.

This Troper's ClosetKey was someone I was close friends with for a year or two. Long, dark hair down to the hips, glasses that made her look Moe, EXTREMELY talented artist, sarcastic, came off as a stoic... Sadly a few months after my realization that I liked her and was hence bisexual she ditched me for other reasons and has hated my guts now for a few years.

This troper has had two of these - the first made me realize that I find girls physically attractive. The second, more than a year later, made me realize that I can fall in love with them - though I'm still not entirely sure if this isn't a IfItsYouItsOkay type of situation. The girl in question is straight, though, so it's a moot point.

Okay, I have a very embarassing and geeky variant- the person who made me realize I was not exclusivley straight? Was a videogame character. Stupid sexy Midna, indeed.
