Same troper, I'm also writing a character in a stem punk/fantasy novel who is a magic swordsman who, as he feels he has to be chivilrous, falls in love with the quirky science girl. In this respect, he's actually a lot like the former trope namer in that he's really forward about it, calling her his dulcinea and declaring his undying love. Needless to say, she's a little creeped out.
