AsYouKnow. middle school kids are prone to bouts of stupidity. I decided to refer to myself in the third person. That lasted a few hours before I relized how ''incredibly'' stupid that was.

This troper knew a couple of people who did this in middle school. It was really frickin' annoying.

I do this when I want something...I haven't the slightest clue why, or where I picked it up. My friends hate it when I do it. Especially when it comes to food. "Oh, can name have some too?"

This Troper (hell yeah) uses the third person pretty much constantly, both to refer to himself and the other conversant. It becomes slightly odd if he forgets to turn it off when meeting new people. It also seems to spread; his friends have started doing it too. Clearly it is due to spending too much time on TVTropes.

This troper's cousin does this when speaking in Chinese. Probably has been speaking that way since a child and never changed it. He uses his diminutive nickname while doing this too. This troper never realized it was odd until recently.

Not that odd, really, since it's common in East Asia to use one's name to refer to oneself, especially when young.

After a psychology lesson on the importance of using third person address in coursework, I went on to speak in third person for an entire week. Including multiple Captain Obvious moments which annoyed other people so much. (I'm now speaking to x, She's looking at me like I'm insane, I reply to her question with....). Nowadays I only address myself in the third person when getting Navel Gazey and wangsty about my adolescant trauma.

This has actually become Tropers/{{Eisenblume}}'s (or Adam's, this troper's) schtick at his school (in addition to some other things). Especially so, when confused, tired, childish, joking, acting cute, flirting, acting perverted or being sarcastic and cynical. And yes, that means Eisenblume does it all the time. Odd take: You immensely enjoy referring to yourself in the second person. It confuses the living hell out of nearly everyone, even after they understand what's going on. Referring to ourselves in the plural is similarly fun.

This troper used to regularly go on high-adventure trips with a young man who had ADHD like nothin' else. When the medications wore off, he would refer to himself in third person... as "monkey". As in "Monkey go get firewood. Monkey think you retarded. Okay, Monkey is cold now."

Stuffler announces a Code-Red lockdown." means people with guns in the building, by the way. So, nothing that needs to be said quickly, or anything. Also, the name changed, but the time it takes to say it hasn't.

You did once confuse the heck out of an IRC channel somewhere by referring to yourself in the second person for a few days, and addressing others in the third person ("You wish to know how [=IRCy McNerdo=] is doing"). When aishkiz does display this trope (mostly on TVTropes) aishkiz does seem to make a habit of avoiding pronouns altogether, leading to lots of unnecessary repetition of aishkiz's name.
