HugeSchoolgirl
#65538
This troper's sister was 5' 6" when she was NINE
#65539
This 13 year old troper is 5'8" and still growing. I think I might also have the...ahem... Most Common Superpower. I've gotton these thoughts the most from people...I'm 18, I'm a freakin' BIKER CHICK, or I'm a bully. I can understand 18 but, a BIKER CHICK?!
#65542
This troper is 5'10" and has a lot of trouble buying shoes.
#65543
Likewise: 5'10", (US) shoe size 12, and to top it off, bras in larger band sizes
but smaller cups are also fairly thin on the ground.
#65544
Holycrap, story of my life. I have to wear weird brands of shoes as well, because I have exceedingly long, tall, thin feet. Like a clown.
#65545
So freakin' true. Only 5'9" with size 10 feet. But about the only shoes I can wear comfortably are Birkenstocks, flip-flops, and certain running/hiking shoes (anything with a tapered toe kills these duck feet). Add broad shoulders, a large frame, and being flat as a board. Let us commiserate.
#65546
This troper is in the exact same boat as the above troper, to the point that it's only the shoe mentions that ensures her that she did not write the above example (as she's worn pretty much nothing but running shoes her entire life, and has a high tolerance for foot pain). Add to the fact that she's fourteen and possibly still growing, and you have a somewhat unhappy troper. At least she isn't alone!
#65547
Once again 5'9'' and size 11 feet. At least I'm a pretty standard size eleven but those are still hard to find. Been around this height since middle school and was taller than my sixth grade math teacher.
#65548
This troper's wife is six feet even - she used to be extremely self-conscious about her height, until it was pointed out that it was a CharmPoint. She still ends up having to shop in the men's section of clothing stores half the time, though.
#65549
So that means she's now Main/TallDarkAndBishoujo?
#65550
Not really. She's of fair complexion, light brown hair, and still a bit self-conscious about her size when out in public. She also still has a couple behaviors which show she wishes she was shorter. She just deals with it much better these days.
#65551
This troper is the uncle of two six-foot-tall nieces. Fortunately, their grandmother was once a professional seamstress and taught them how to modify their own clothes. But this hasn't dampened their love lives. The younger one even became a cheerleader. If anything, they're TOO attractive (Both mothers before they were 20... oh my heart... ).
#65553
This troper is no longer as she stopped growing when she reached 1.69 m, but used to be the tallest in her class until long after she reached puberty.
#65554
This troper allso stayed at 1.69 its pissing me of that i didn't reach 1.70 atleast.
#65555
Subversion: At 5'5.5" in middle school I was the Huge Schoolgirl surrounded by 5'0" friends, and everyone thought I'd be 5'9" like my mother, or maybe as tall as my dad (6'4") once I was fully grown. It turns out I was fully grown already and my friends were taller than me by the time middle school ended.
#65556
What is it about 5'5.5"? This troper had exactly the same experience and final height. It can be tough being an early developer.
#65557
Same here!
This troper isn't completely sure if she's 5'5.5" or 5'6", though, having not actually measured herself for a while... In any case, this troper is inclined to blame her awful sleeping habits for her failure to gain any more height, though, rather than mere biology, since she was consistently tall all through childhood and then stopped growing at about 14, approximately the same time her sleep cycle went from slightly night-owlish but essentially normal to ''completely bonkers''. (As in, it became about 26 hours long rather than 24, causing it to move around relative to conventional Earth time, and I developed a penchant for staying up anywhere from 24 to 40 hours on a whim.) Of course, her dad is pretty short for a guy, and her mom is only slightly taller than this troper, so it's possible that it ''is'' genetics.
#65558
One more (Hazuki) for the six-footer brigade! It's kinda fun actually. I like mens' clothes too, so wearing mostly jeans and t-shirts doesn't bother me.
#65560
This troppette was 5'6"... by ''2nd grade.'' Add that to the fact that she was a total spaz with no impulse control, and the end result was... well, kind of horrible. ...Now she's 5'9.5", and very broad-shouldered.
#65561
This troper was 5'6 at 12 and is now at her final height of 5'8. Since the average American woman is somewhere around 5'4, I still have a good couple inches on most women. Of course, this means that I get to be TallDarkAndBishoujo, so
Huge Schoolgirls really have a lot to look forward to!
#65562
This troper hit her current height (5'7") at about the same age. It didn't help that she was friends with mostly abnormally short people.
#65563
This (13-year-old) troper is 5'4. I know that's not much but it's enough to drive her absolutely ''insane''. Especially because it contrasts with her (supposedly) MoeMoe personality. ;~;
#65564
OMG, same! I am exactly like that only I am 5'4 3/4''
#65565
I was often the tallest girl in my class... until everyone else hit puberty. Then I was one of the shortest.
#65566
The same for this troper, who still retains several habits from that time, such as walking slowly to compensate for people with shorter legs, even though it's no longer necessary.
#65567
Same for me. I got to experience being both tall and short. It's weird being a head shorter than friends you used to be taller than, isn't it?
#65568
ThisTroper was acquainted with a huge schoolgirl before graduating towards university. I never got exact measurements but I'd estimate around 6 foot. I hear she's training to row for the UK in the 2012 Olympics now.
#65569
This troper had puberty AT 8! I'm still the tallest girl in my class, but this guy and another girl are slowly catching up with me...
#65570
This troper knew a girl in high school who was 6'1", while he was 5'9"-5'10". Said girl was ''nine months younger than him.''
#65571
wolftickets1969 This troper, who is 5'10", knew several girls in high school younger than him that were pushing 6 feet. nhb
#65572
This troper and two of her friends did this in high school. This troper was actually the short one. And she's 5'8", but has a large cup size. One of them topped out at 6'2" and the other was 5'10". They were this troper's bodyguards, so to speak.
#65573
This troper's best female friend/love interest was one of the tallest in her elementary class, upping this troper by half a head. Eight years later, this troper beats said friend by half a head.
#65574
This troper. In first grade, I was as tall as my teacher (who was 5' even). Up until fifth grade, I was the tallest kid in my grade, and up until sixth, I was the tallest girl.
#65575
This troper's cousin is 168 cm tall, as same as him. So what, you might ask, well: she's 14 and he's 19!
#65576
This troper's girlfriend has a female classmate, who is almost as tall as him. Considering that this troper is 185 cm (about 6'2") tall... she surely qualifies.
#65577
This troper is 5'11" in highschool, and could qualify I suppose. She is pretty thin, however, and might just be considered a Tall Schoolgirl.
#65578
This troper knows a 6'1 girl who fits the "curvy" archetype.
#65579
This (5'8") troper's ex is 184 cm (just shy of 6'1") but will rarely admit it; according to MySpace she's 5'11". Apparently that extra inch makes all the difference.
#65580
This Troper was 5'10". When she was twelve.
#65581
When
This Troper was 12 years old, she was around 163 cms tall. Now she's much older and didn't grow much taller, but fits the "big breasted" archetype painfully well with her GagBoobs. T-T
#65582
This troper embodied the trope in her early to mid teens: she hit her adult height of 5'6.75" aged fourteen, around the time she developed the
Most Common Super Power as well. Not exactly giant, but alongside girls of the same age who were several inches shorter and 20-30 pounds lighter, coupled with her
painfully shy personality... yeah. However, she went on to subvert the trope by remaining at that height (whilst her peers continued to grow) and actually ''losing'' weight towards the end of her adolescence; she's now of average height and considerably less than average weight, but is still convinced that puberty is a cruel joke.
#65583
This troper was never actually made fun of for it, but was greatly embarrassed when she hit her growth spurt and developed at the ripe young age of ELEVEN. Being already shy and not out of her child mindset yet, as well as being among several shortish, flat-chested girls, it led to slightly self-imposed unpopularity. But of course, she subverted the trope as she grew; she hit her adult height of 5'5" much earlier than expected and, compared to her friends, doesn't really have the MostCommonSuperpower either.
#65584
This troper personally knows a 17 year old at his school that's about 6'2" now. She's skinny as a rail, though, so more "Reedish Schoolgirl" than "Huge Schoolgirl" and from what she's told me, she's been at least 6 feet tall since she was 14. She is also rather obsessed about appearing feminine and dainty.
#65585
This troper's mother was one. Her mother's about 5'2 now, a couple of inches shorter than this troper, but... her mother's been that height since she was ''seven years old''. There's a picture of her in the Brownie Guides where, if you didn't know better, you would have thought she was one of the supervisors.
#65586
Nearly all the students at this Troper's (all girls) high school were like this, including myself.
#65587
This troper (male, 5'8") knew a girl in first-year college chemistry who stood 6'5" in heels and had broader shoulders than all but one of the guys in class.
#65588
This Troper was one of the smallest kids in her class until halfway through primary school... then her growth spurt set in and she grew to 6'0" within a year... from then on, she was always the tallest in her class. Incidentally, her brother is over seven feet tall, but was a total pipsqueak up to 8th grade... after which he got HIS growth spurt.
#65589
This troper is 5'10''. wheras two of her good friends are 4'11'' and 5'1''. This Troper also has very broad shoulders. Her worst moment was in seventh grade, where, in a room full of eighth graders, she was asked if she was there for her daughter.
#65590
Oh my God... stop describing me.
#65591
In this Troper's old high school, half the class was full of huge schoolgirls who towered over everyone including the teachers (I was among them) or tiny little things you might accidentally step on if you weren't careful (many of them were the same size as the teachers!). I honestly had no idea why our school kept hiring dwarves to teach us.
#65592
This troper has a vollyball player at his high school who's almost 7 feet tall. And she's a freshman.
#65593
This troper's cousin's girlfriend is 6'2 and and a bit muscular.
#65594
This troper is 5'10 and athletically built. My worst moment was actually ''hitting my head on the ceiling'' in the girl's locker room. Or when I got called the Jolly Green Giant when I wore my green Christmas dress in 4th grade. And I get called
Big Bird when I wear yellow.
#65595
Absolutely TruthInTelevision. This troper is an assistant teacher at a Japanese middle school, whose new freshman class this year contained TWO
Huge Schoolgirls, both well over 170cm. Being towered over by twelve-year-old Japanese girls was quite an unusual cultural experience, as were seeing the sports teams fight over them - only to have one join a sports team outside the school, and the other join the band. (The same class also contains an even bigger Huge Schoolboy, who did join the kendo team amid much rejoicing. However my hopes that he would
team up with the 141cm. senior girl to battle the forces of evil are yet to be realized.)
#65596
This troper had a female classmate who was 6'2" at 15. One day when we were discussing height, another girl pointed out that "'tis a fine height for a woman... 'tis a fine height for a man, too!"
#65597
This troper was 5'3" at age 10 and hit 6'0" by age 16, where she has stayed since. She's also incredibly heavy due to an anomalously dense skeleton, which she shares with her father and sister; she's a little over 180 pounds, but looks closer to 165 and wears a size 12 or 14 depending on brand.
#65598
This troper, a sophmore in high school, is 5'9". Although it doesn't seem as big now, in sixth grade she was 5' 5"
#65599
This troper knows a girl who is 175 cm tall -- just like him, and average female height where he lives is 165 cm. Needless to say, she's on the volleyball team.
#65600
A male version happened to a friend of his. He spent some time in Japan, where -- according to his words -- everybody was around 160 cm. He is ''2 meters tall''. (And for a while he dated a 148 cm petite!).
#65601
This troper has been 184cm tall (around 6'1"ish) from the age of 13 and went to an all-girls school; aside from the annoyingly small chairs/desks (and yes, shopping for nice female clothes is a drag) being tall is epic.
#65602
This 5'11" Male Troperâ„¢ (I STILL say that's incredibly short for a man, even though other people have told me otherwise) once knew a girl who was exactly the same height. ...And so far, that's it. Southwest Virginia isn't exactly blessed with this trope. Coincidentally, this girl was a fan of the one-inch-taller AnnCoulter, and mimicked her behavior almost to a T.
#65603
This Editor, almost exactly 6 feet. Due to insane amounts of metabolism, no MostCommonSuperpower to go with it, though.
#65604
This Troper is 5'11", the tallest woman in her family, and was always the tallest girl when she was in school. Looking for pants that REACH YOUR ANKLES when you are that tall is a real pain in the butt. Also, she is very ... curvy. Bra shopping is also a nightmare, since her back and shoulders are broad enough to allow her to comfortably wear men's shirts (which she does sometimes).
#65605
In
This Troper's high school, there was a girl on the JV cheerleading squad who was almost twice the size of every other girl on it. Not only was she tall, but she had the physique of someone who would have StoutStrength rather than a traditional cheerleader frame. In other words, she was chubby, didn't fit into her cheerleading outfit, and being twice the size of the other girls really stood out.
#65606
My little sister is 13 in less than a month and 5'9. We're a pretty tall family in general though.
#65607
I hit my growth period at 11, making me 6'4" at 12. Combine
Huge Schoolboy with DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength and HilarityEnsues.
#65608
In his senior year in college this troper met one HugeSchoolGirl one year his junior (don't know her actual height, but she was definitely taller than every other girl who stood next to her), who was a real hottie too. Weird thing about her was her very deep low almost masculine voice. Sadly she was already taken back then.
#65609
My 9-year-old niece is 5' 2" (almost taller than me, I'm 5' 4") and is reportedly teased by other kids for being the tallest person in her class.
#65610
This Troper's graduation class at a '''small''' Christian school had a HugeSchoolgirl who was the principal's daughter and was roughly 5' 8" or 5' 9", a good 5-7 inches taller than the other two girls in my senior class (for comparison, this male troper is about 6' 3").
#65611
This troper doubts there's any real contradiction between "HugeSchoolgirl" and "cute schoolgirl" in the first place, at least when it comes to height. He knew a girl in high school who was considerably taller than him, but he found her cute anyway, what with her pretty face and GenkiGirl personality, either in spite of or partly because of how tall she was.
#65612
If I were anywhere else, I think my 5'10" height wouldn't be so bad. The fact that I'm in Taiwan and the average height is 5'3" makes me seriously depressed. That's a good 7 inches over pretty much everyone (except for the Americans.)
#65613
Reading this page made me jealous like you wouldn't believe. Recently I've stopped growing at 5'5", but since I was about nine I've wanted to be six feet tall. I wouldn't even mind learning to alter clothes or wearing men's clothes -- I think I'd make a pretty sweet {{Bifauxnen}}. I've also always wanted to have really big feet so I could wear men's shoes.
#65614
My younger sisters and I were and are really tall compared to others (I'm even taller than my parents!), but it was awkward in grade school when I was not only one of the tallest girls in class, I was the
most developed. My female classmates did not ignore this.
#65615
The HugeSchoolgirl in the class of this troper has the surname Kort (short in Dutch).
#65616
This troper's first crush was a huge schoolgirl; in fourth grade she had reached puberty and was alot taller and more developed than everyone else.
#65617
I was always really tall, but I stopped growing at about 14, when I was about 5'6''. However, I wasn't teased for being tall, I was teased because I've had B-cups since I was nine, and my breasts are still growing. Seriously, can we transfer some of this boob growth to height?
#65618
This troper's little(pfff!) sister is 15, 5'11, and still growing. She's also got broad shoulders, big feet, and strong arms- it's to the point where boy's clothing tends to fit her better. She's more or less a GentleGiant, and is very self-conscious about her size.
#65619
One of my classmates is Tongan (or possibly Fiijian. I've forgotten now). She's easily one of the tallest members of my class. She's nearly OneHeadTaller than me, and I'm ''5' 11"''.
#65620
This troper knows a girl who's this and/or TallDarkAndBishoujo. (As a side note, back when I was just a {{Lurker}} on TV Tropes, I would joke about mentioning her in those tropes' TroperTales pages. Now that I actually have, I'll be e-mailing her with links to them.)
#65621
I'm not this trope. However, I have a friend who used to be and she says that getting shoes isn't too hard if you know where to go. She recommended shops in California that are accustomed to dealing with drag queens. Please don't take this as some kind of prank as I really am trying to be helpful here.
#65622
This troper is well aware of how subjective this trope can be: During middle school, I stopped growing at about 5'8", but was actually close to the median height for the girls in my class. Skip forward a few years (and a school transfer): I'm the same height, but now I'm taller than most of my female friends (who average about 5'4") not to mention a good portion of my male friends as well.
#65623
This troper was one until the age of, say, 12, due to hitting puberty early. Now, she is rather, uhh...short, though she still has the MostCommonSuperpower. My classmate, Katie, is a definate example, though- 6'3", female, and still growing. I pity her head, what with all the doorframes she'll encounter...
#65624
This troper is 5'8", which isn't that impressive in comparison to the rest of you guys. But... she's also Asian.
#65625
Same here! She almost always gets mistaken for being OlderThanTheyLook, and once she got to the Philippines, she was once mistaken for being ButNotTooForeign (also in part due to me only speaking English.) When questioned about this, I always said I was just growing early, and I seem to have stopped.
#65626
This troper is a transgirl, and a teenager, but I skirt the line between 6'3" and 6'4", Normally this would suck, but I only have size 9 feet, and have wide hips and small hands, and no Adams-Apple, the only bad thing this brings is a minor case of man-shoulders. Only time will tell on the chest part, I'll either be a wash-board or huge breasts, dependeing on which side of the family I take after.
#65627
Virtually ''everyone'' in this tropers high-school. At 5'3" she was of about average height in middle school (ages 13-15 where this troper is from), but seeing as most of the female students were at least 5'7" in high-school (ages 16-18), she had to spend most of her high-school years looking up at everybody. In her year's graduation picture, there is a very noticeable dip where this tropes was standing...
#65628
This currently 16 year old troper had random growth spurts throughout her life, and was always mistaken to be at least a few years older than she really was (heck, the doctor predicted she would be 6'4 at full height!). When she was 10 she reached 5'8 and has thankfully stopped growing since then. ** Funny story, actually: she was mistaken as an 18 year old at a wedding and was offered alcohol... when she was 12.
#65629
This troper knows a 6'4" girl. She is 19 now, and she reached her full height in high school. And she is well built and attractive.
#65630
This troper fits this perfectly-- she has ''always'' been the tallest girl in her grade (was the tallest of both sexes until seventh) and her chest started developing before those of the other girls and now she is quite busty.
#65631
This troper knew a girl at her school who was 5'11 - 6'00. She was in ''7th'' and ''8th Grade'' at the time. Quite frankly, everyone was like dwarves to her, considering the fact that we were all still developing. She was intimidating, but suprisingly, not a bully.
#65632
This troper knows she's not the most extreme example on the page, but she was THE tallest student in her class till seventh grade, and in seventh was the tallest female student. Now in eighth grade there are perhaps one or two girls taller than her. And any others have a more...delicate physique. Not this troper. She's very ''solid''. And a {{Buxom Babe}}. So yeah, she kinda sticks out.
#65633
Story of this tropette's life. She hit her final height of 5'11" at the age of 16. Just to make things worse, her best friend is 4'10" and she's dating a 5'4" (and very height-conscious) transguy.
#65634
I was 5'2" at age 10, which isn't that remarkable compared to other examples here, but it was the same height as one of my mother's friends. They loved pointing this out. I'm now seventeen and about 5'9"; I don't know if I'll grow anymore.
#65635
This Troper's sister had a fun time taking me around her school and playing the 'how old do you think she is' game. I was 13 and got everything from 15 to 27. Up to 18 was understandable, but 27?!
#65636
This tropette is nearly 17 and is 6'3''. She's always be the tallest in her class. She gets mistaken for a teacher and is teased about her height. Lately, she seems to have this {{Moe}} thing going
