BornInTheWrongCentury
#16192
This Troper belongs a few centuries in the future. Well, at least 40 years in the future (the time scientists predict curing aging which makes us immortal unless effected by outside forces), as this tropers lifelong goal is immortality. Oh, and I happen to also be a socialist who has a dislike for communism AND capitalism (both are too far on the scale, while socialism is the best of both worlds).
Also, I am too intelligent for many of my peers.
#16194
What kind of a
so called scientist said there's cure for aging anyway? Even if that could be biologically possible, there hasn't been any progress in that area for the past decade, despite all the resources wasted on genetic research.
#16195
Just recently scientists discovered a way to reverse actual aging. But it'll kill you.
#16196
This tropette wishes she were born in 1972 to live in the 80s. I would've been able to see all of my favourite movies in theater, and felt the nostalgia more closely.
#16197
This troper loves ancient greece and the roman empire: their religions, their wars, their languages,
their liberalness, etc ...
#16198
Conversely, this ultra-capitalist troper should have lived during the industrial revolution, building his fortune in heavy industry, being labeled a robber baron, firing any worker who stepped out of line, and then engaging in philanthropy with his private fortune for the good of the country.
#16199
Doesn't using your private fortune in a philanthropous way for the good of the country defeat the point of being ULTRA-capitalist? Unless you are thinking of only using it in certain areas that hold your interest, you might as well live in super-'socialist' modern Europe and let the government do it all for you.
#16200
Ah, no, actually. The exception you made would be the point of the matter. The ultra-capitalist troper would be able to sink his money into whatever he thought best for society, rather than what some bureaucrat with a vested interest in expanding his empire thinks is "best."
#16201
This editor has always thought he'd be more at home in older periods of history. His values and principles being called "not fit for the modern age". I love my country (flawed as it may be), I would consider myself Lawful Good because of my strict adherence to rules and superiors, treat and speak to women with chivalry (not necessarily a drawback in this case), hold the Constitution to a Biblical level for many reasons but one being it's age, want to serve in the hallowed institution of the military, was raised in a nuclear family whom he has never resented or hated being with, hates many mainstream fads that oppose the above (undermining the family, opposing traditional American values, etc.), prefers phone calls to text messages, and has never drunk, smoked, and is still a virgin (the former two because both are illegal at my age of 19 and the latter because I want to be married to the women I take to bed.) As such, I feel that I would have been more at home during WWII, the Civil War and Reconstruction (being from Philly, I would make it a point to discipline troops that make racist remarks, and crucify any enemy that does!) Hell, the above wouldn't make me out of place in the Roman Republic!
#16202
This editor is beginning to think he should have been born in Medieval Europe. Then he would have been a respected, learned, celibate monk instead of a pathetic, perpetually-dateless nerd.
#16204
This troper's associates have informed him that he'd fit in great in the 10th through 14th century. Apparently I'd either make a perfect monk, a bumbling cardinal, or an impeccable... inquisitor.
#16205
Monasteries still exist, you realize.
#16207
I've always felt I'd be happier as a pirate or a Twenties gangster.
#16208
I sometimes wish I was born in Medieval Europe, because my parents have a lot of money as is, meaning both would likely be pretty high up in society. Meaning I would no longer be dateless, as I could just order some sex.
#16209
You can do that now, dude...
#16210
But now it's called a prostitute. Back then, you could marry a women for sociopolitcal convenience, and have a mistress that you used to make babies (mostly if your wife apparently wasn't capable).
#16211
This troper, and quite possibly a lot of others on this site, is convinced she was born a couple of centuries too ''early''.
#16213
True, but if, in a couple of hundred years, you don't like your neighbors, you can bug off to another ''planet''.
#16214
Actually, untrue! History seems to suggest that time passing (as well as a bit of scientific progess) is EXACTLY what you need to make humans treat each other better.
#16215
Any time period and location where wandering and getting in fights regularly comes with consequences is where
this troper could enjoy himself.
#16216
This troper felt right in place reading Shogun. Cleanliness, Honour... All except the sexism against women. He would also like to point out that he could also be in Sherlock Holmes-era Britain. Tea, Language, Carriages...
#16217
I felt the same reading Shogun - it felt really comfortable, except for the sexism (I'm female, so...) and the fact that honor was sometimes seen as slighted over relatively small things (by today's standards). But sexual relationships were a lot freer then, and I could have been with a woman and simply have had our relationship not paid any especial attention - Japan today is a lot different in that regard, and I'm very aware that modern Japan wouldn't suit me much at all, even though I ''understand'' the cultural mores, and the thoughts behind some of them. Medieval Japan is much more my cup of tea. Or Medieval Europe, although that would be a great deal more sucktaststic, because of living conditions and the prevalance of the Church (I'm a gentile who's converting to Judaism.) But there's one really weird thing: when I was really, really little, up until I was twelve, I ''curtsied'' to people instead of shaking their hands. An actual, formal curtsy. From someone who has cerebral palsy and do anything fancy with her legs without falling on her face. I don't know ''where'' I possibly could have learned that...
#16218
This troper feels like he should have been born a hundred years from ''now''. Kinda makes me sad to think of all the cool stuff humanity is going to do and I won't be around to see it.
#16219
This troperette understands your POV completely, and shares it.
#16220
This troper belongs--if not 100 years in the future--at least at an age where there are cybernetic prosthetics (i.e., born later in the 21st Century instead of the late 20th). Damn it, I want my fully
prosthetic body NOW!!!
#16221
Me too! Cybernetic limbs are just so gorgeous! (And maybe a little sexy...) Plus I find the idea of
sexbots -- ''real''
sexbots and not just plastic women who can turn their heads a little -- to be inordinately fascinating.
#16222
I think I'd also be happy in the future - there might be ways to help my disabilities and those of others (example: I have a hard time staying on my feet for more than two hours continuously before my legs give out on their own. This is a big problem in musuems with a lot of stairs. I've learned that I always have to ask for a wheelchair at the front desk, to try and circumvent this, even though I ''can'' walk [and am pround of it, because I couldn't when I was very little and was wheelchair-bound].) (just as happy in Medieval Japan, too, for various reasons) I've seen adverts for Jefferson University Hospital (I'm around Philly), and one of the things they show is an electronic (I think) exoskeleton that straps around legs and pelvis, and a woman being able to stand up out of her wheelchair and "walk" (beacause of motorized movement on the device's part - her legs still wouldn't work technically). I find that amazing that we have that kind of thing now. I get a tingle of excitement up my spine when I think were we ''could'' be in the future. Hell, ''18 years ago'', doctors told my parents to institutionalize me! (I'm a micropreemie- 26 weeks and all the complications except for paralysis.)
#16223
Me. Any point at which I could have stopped the world becoming what it is now.
#16224
This troper's particular mannerisms (a predilection for SesquipedalianLoquaciousness, occasionally smoking a pipe) and manner of dress (a horror of anything obviously made out of artificial fibers, preference for certain types of hat, and an aversion to T-shirts) have led to remarks that he really should have been born in Britain in 1889, not America in 1989. He's not sure he agrees (the prospect of no electronic devices and--more importantly--having to fight in WorldWarOne are hardly enticing), but whatever.
#16225
This Troper's friends are convinced that she should have been born in the 1920's. (Outdated slang, old-fashioned clothes... etc.)
#16227
Not only do I believe I was born in the wrong century, but I also think that I should have been British. Yup. I love looking at old-fashioned suits and clothing trends and I enjoy formal things. British humor, especially subtle sarcasm and self-deprecation are some of my favorites. I think living during the French Revolution would have been insane, dark, crazy and amazing.
#16228
You're allowed to become British (it doesn't cost much). Please, we want you.
#16229
This troper always wanted to live in the distant future with FTL travel, transporters and stuff. Too bad those things won't happen soon.
#16230
The one thing
I maybe, possibly, might not like all that much about living in the
1920s or the
1890s is the lack of Internet access. But I doubt it.
#16231
This Troper gets downright depressed every time she realizes that she probably won't be around long enough to see interstellar travel and alien contact. Born in the wrong century, indeed.
#16232
Take heart. Alien contact could happen tomorrow.
#16233
This Troper knows that he won't be alive by the time that genetics will advance so far that scientists can create creatures without already having DNA (yes I mean real, living {{Pokemon}}!), and that video game tech will go as far as players being able to go into the game and experience it firsthand. Now if only some sort of suspended animantion works without a problem...
#16234
This troper's friend to a T. She in general hates technology and has stated several times she would be happier if everyone just lived in the woods in little huts. Though her only favored technology really seems to be indoor plumbing (for obvious reasons).
#16235
This troper speaks formally (with occasional antiquated mannerisms), has a great fondness for 19th-century architecture, literature, clothing, general aesthetic, and the minutiae of everyday Victorian life, and is somewhat obsessed with history. This has led several people, including a teacher, to inform her that not only was she BornInTheWrongCentury, but on the wrong continent as well.
#16237
This troper and the early 1800s. Like above troper, I sometimes get straight up depressed to think that I'll have to wait 'till I'm ''dead'' to meet 90% of the people I consider interesting, if even that.
#16238
This troper belongs to whatever time period deems it a useful and worthy occupation to participate in troping all day long rather than work.
#16239
This Troper. Either direction - Either the exploration of the world, or the exploration of deep outer space.
#16240
There has been a running gag in which this troper is consistently described as being "straight out of the eighties". And this troper could not agree more.
#16241
Beta Maxis here. I was born at an inopportune time. I was a kid (too young to hold a job or any money) when all the good games came out (Mario, Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy), and I love 70's and 80's music so being AROUND for those concerts would have been awesome.
#16242
This Tropers 15 year old sister belongs in the 1980's. She doesn't listen to any recent music, and wishes she could go back in time and live then.
#16243
This troper's feels like she belongs in the 1950's. I feel I should be in a simpler time and I want to hang out at drive-ins and diners. Too bad those are a dying breed. My boyfriend feels like he should have been born in the 1920's, considering the way he dresses. He also thinks he belongs in the Victorian era, too. And my other friends feel they belong in the 1960's-70's. Since they mostly act like hippies and enjoy the music from that time period.
#16245
We pretentious clods accept your apology.
#16246
Whenever
this troper thinks he's been born in the wrong century, he just thinks of the world's current situation and realizes there may not be a better opportunity to carry out his master plan. And that would be, you guessed it: TakeOverTheWorld. I mean ancient Celts, Vikings or Samurai sound tempting, but nothing beats standing over a ruined hellhole and being able to say "I did this! It's mine!".
#16247
This troper has a look, a face and a manner that would have been absolutely perfect... in the 1920's. In this time, it just looks off.
#16248
Since this troper is a huge Beatles fan, his mom always says he was born in the wrong decade.
#16249
This troper, stoner with a love for 70s music.
#16250
This troper so often finds himself wishing he had been born in 1780's britain...Or 1880's America...Or 1920's America...Or just the future, You'know?
#16251
This troper sometimes wishes he could have stormed the beaches of Normandy. Not Omaha, though. One of the British ones...
#16252
This troper's greatest wish is to meet a sentient
AI. She holds out hope that she will live long enough to see this happen - and in fact when she was going through her 'depressed teenager' phase, it was the major reason she never attempted suicide. On the other hand, many of her friends belong a few centuries in the past... HilarityEnsues.
#16253
This troper is starting to wonder if she's had a few episodes of LaserGuidedAmnesia, given how many examples on this page could have come from her keyboard.
#16254
This Troper began a few years back to think of 8th century Scandinavia or the Migration Period as 'the good ol' days'.
#16255
Sometimes this troper feel as if she'd have rather been born in the late fifties/early sixties.
#16256
This Troper should have been born a few decades back at the very least; what
she remembers about being a kid was WilliamShatner,
Do-Wop music,
PC games, and the AdamWest {{Batman}} Tv show. She was born in the
mid 90s.
#16257
This troper feels that she was born a couple centuries too early at least. However, she is also addicted to her iPod. Hm...
#16258
This troper is convinced she should have been born a Germanic Prince during the Roman Empire. So much so she actually wrote about said life followed by being captured by the Romans and working in the home of a Roman Senator for her Latin class.
#16259
This Troper is very glad she was not born in Nazi Germany. She would have enjoyed it way too much. Every time she reads stuff about it there's always a little voice in the back of her head saying "But if you didn't know better, you'd have loved this." And Gods help me, I would have.
#16260
This Troper finds herself agreeing with you, and it's made worse by the fact that she's a Jew. She just gets so swept up by patriotism sometimes, if she was born into a different nationality and time period, she shudders to think what would have happened.
#16261
This Troper is convinced beyond a doubt that he should have been born around 1900 or so, so he could have been about his normal age now during the Roaring Twenties. Everyone that knows him has said that the first thing that they thought when they saw him was that he had relatives in the Mafia during the Twenties because he just 'feels' like the type who would be in the Mafia during that time, ex: the way that he walks, dresses, and supposedly even how he talks sometimes.
#16262
This Troper used to think she would have been better off in the 1960s, because she liked the music and the activism. It took a serious reality check about the era's sexual and racial politics (yes, the Civil Rights and Women's movements were getting started then, but that didn't mean the average Joe agreed with their ideals) to convince her that, no, she was better off in the early 21st century (and a discovery that left-wing grassroots activism is hardly dead, now - if anything, it's better organized with the presence of the Internet). Still, there are a few historical periods she wouldn't mind ''visiting.''
#16263
I have met people online who left said chatrooms/messageboards because they wanted to live more like they were in whatever era they idealized, which meant not using the Internet.
#16265
This troper should have been born in 1952 instead of 1992, so that he could have spent the prime of his life in the 70s. Another bonus would have been watching Monty Python when they were still something new. Although I would've rather been born in another country in that case - living in South Africa during TheApartheidEra doesn't appeal to me: rather the UK then.
#16266
This troper would have loved to have been born in 1958 instead of 1979 so that she, like the troper immediately above her, could have also spent the prime of her life in the '70s. She invites said troper to come live in Texas as the Dallas/Ft. Worth public television station was airing episodes of Monty Python back then (and saved many Python episodes from extincton in the process). She would've also loved a post-high school graduation visit to New York City back when it was exciting, i.e. the late '70s -- getting to see if the Studio 54 people would let you in, going to see Blondie and Joe Jackson at CBGB's, going to the Mudd Club, walking through Times Square before it became Disneyfied, seeing where {{Woody Allen}} filmed his movies, grabbing a bite to eat at Katz's Delicatessen, visitng the Verazano-Narrows Bridge (the one that
Tony Manero used for inspiration), etc. And then going on to see London, visiting all the early New Romantic sights (e.g. the Blitz club), seeing when punk was vital, maybe getting a chance to meet John Peel and hear some of his shows when they were actually on the air, being in the audience for a {{Top of the Pops}} or two, going to a Northern Soul-type disco club and seeing all the amazing dancers there.... *sigh* That's not even mentioning all the talented singer/songwriters of the era (Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Seals & Crofts, Loggins & Messina, Gordon Lightfoot, etc.), all the great television of the era, the incredible movies (I would adore getting to see ''The Deer Hunter'' on the big screen!), PBS's "An American Family", the uplifting, life-giving disco, the gorgeous women's fashions of the era... I want so very much to have experienced all that.
#16267
It's easy for this troper to wonder about this... but ultimately I'm not so sure. On the one hand; I'm quite comfortable with melee weapons of most types - polearms, axes, swords, dirks, maces; I'm not saying I'm 'good' with them, but they do feel natural in my hands. I AM a decent shot with a bow however, and that also feels quite natural to me. On the other hand... lets face it, most any time before the Enlightenment rather sucked for most people. Even the most priveleged had a fair chance of dying nastily outside of combat, and while I'd love to claim feeling 'normal' with a sword in hand would mean I'd feel likewise on a battlefield, I'm not silly enough to think that's actually true. I have no idea how I'd handle myself if you gave me a weapon and plopped me down on a battlefield - even with training. And of course it's 99% likely I'd just be Random Peasant 29993, shoveling manure and acting as a human shield if it came to a fight. Not exactly high things on my priority list...
#16268
The other major period that I feel some level of connection to is the 1920s-40s. Especially anything to do with aviation in those periods. I'm even less sure of any ability I might have there (I've flown 2 planes, total, in my entire life. Total flight time - 1 hour) - there is undeniable appeal to flying a P-51 while covering a massive daylight bombing raid... On the other hand it's dangerous as all get out (wars tend to be that way); and being the person I am the casual racism, homophobia and sexism of the period are... err... yeah. Of course there's also snazzy suits in this time frame... and nice hats...
#16269
As for the future... hrmm... going to wildly depend. Who knows what it holds? I love the idea of immortality, advanced medicine, and especially some of the crazier possibilities for a post-singularity world; but on the other hand the future might well suck. I guess I'll have to take TheSlowPath to find out. Still fun to speculate though; and I wouldn't turn down a time travel trip to any of these periods given the option.
#16270
I feel like I’m from two different futures
#16271
One {{dystopia}} /
post apocalyptic future. Not that I want to be from a bad future, mind you, I just feel like I am from one.
#16273
This Troper feels he was born in the wrong ''history''; he wishes that he was born in an alternate history where America never won the Revolutionary War, and the decolonization of the British Empire never happened. Now before I get burned at the stake for not supporting
AMURCKA, let me just point out that I'm an American.
#16274
That kind of makes it worse, you know. Hating your home country and all...
#16275
Wishing your home country was somehow different = hating it? Now that's the kind of reasoning I'd expect from an overly patriotic redneck.
#16276
I understand not liking the way things are, but believe me, the way things were run, you'd be screaming for a revolution. but of course, distant pastures are always greener.
#16277
This Troper should have been born 12 years later.
#16278
Honestly, I'd feel right at home anywhere from the 40's-80's. And yes, I know all the ups and downs of those decades and everything in between. I'd still take it over what we have today. I was born in late 1989, so I missed most of those wonderful years. I love the 40's-60's for the class, elegance, and sense of dress that no one my age seems to carry these days; and the 70's-80's for the epic music. I'm so enamored with the past, I sometimes get depressed that I wasn't around to see it. Anything like it that comes along will just be a cheap imitation.
#16279
Somehow, I feel that I would fit right in to the '90s...or late '80s, if you'll loan me a Nintendo Entertainment System.
#16280
This Troper and her friends always joke around that her boyfriend should have been born in the early 20th century due to his mannerisms, speech patterns and his fascination with old pop culture, especially old cartoons.
#16281
This troper just wishes he had been born early enough to escape goddamned social networking sites. It seems like every one of his friends are communicating exclusively via Facebook and that this happened overnight while he was on the john. He found Bebo's comments system infuriating, can't communicate through any form of instant messaging, cannot comprehend Facebook to save his life and doesn't even like texting people cos it always feels so strained and full of effort. He doesn't even know what the point of Twitter is. He'd say that he wished to have been born in the 70's or so, but Ireland in the 70's absolutely sucked (according to his parents) and the country was pretty much a backwater until the 90's anyway. So it's kind of a no-win situation.
#16282
This troper should have been a celtic priestess, a medeval noblewoman, or a victorian aristocrat. For the romance, he beauty, the
pimped out dresses. Unfortunatley, she is but a poor highschool student from TheWestcountry.
#16283
This troper would much prefer to be in {{Dune}} or {{Warhammer 40000}} than RealLife. Hell, any futuristic setting. Or maybe an Apollo astronaut. Sometimes, he also feels that the future as it was back in the days of StarTrekTheOriginalSeries and other shows of its era would be cool.
#16284
This troper feels like she would be much better suited to Victorian England.
#16285
ME TOO. If I could time travel, that's the only time I'd go back to. Ever.
#16286
This Troper would've loved to live in Victorian England, the Middle Ages, the Golden Age of Piracy, Ancient Greece, the American Frontier, the Twenties, the Fifties, the Eighties. . . Pretty much any time but the one I live in.
#16287
This troper despises the idea of living in the past, due to the lack of civil rights. In fact, the main reason this troper wants to live in the distant future (other than cool future-tech) is because the present is so irritatingly backwards compared to how it should, ideally, be.
#16288
This troper's father should've been a pioneer. He built the family a log cabin, with chicken coop and barn/garage. He furnished said house with 2 woodstoves, mostly homemade furniture, old trunks for storage, and a fireplace. The troper herself likes either that, or Ancient Egypt would've been better. Simpler lives, women had rights in Egypt, no needing a college degree pull a lever all day.
#16289
This troper would have LOVED ancient Scandinavia, where one could make a fortune as a viking. Just running around, giving tributes to Thor, swinging an Axe and preparing for Ragnarok... ah...
#16290
This troper should have been born in the Ancient Egypt. She feels as if that's the only time that she can understand.
#16291
This Troper would be right at home in late-70s New York City, with the punk scene, New Wave performance art, the ExploitationFilm world of the old 42nd Street, and the arrival of
the 80s in all it's pop culture glory. I also thought Weimar Germany would be fun with all the cabarets and LooksLikeCesare expressionist films, but the whole impending Third Reich thing kind of spoils the fun.
#16292
This troper was born in 1987, which means going the typical education path of going to a four-year college after high school, he graduated in 2009. You'd have to be living under a rock to not know why that's a horrible fate. Let's just say some leaders are
not very good at a certain subject matter.
#16293
And besides that, he just is not into modern pop culture. He hardly plays any current-generation video games and the ones he *does* play are niche. He likes to go to arcades which are far past their peak and are all but dead. Just about all Western music made after about 2001
just about makes him physically sick. He feels like if he was born 10 or so years earlier, he could have enjoyed more of this stuff when he was actually old enough to care, and that would put him in his 30s today instead of his 20s, when it's much more acceptable to feel this way. He sometimes wonders the point of going on if all the stuff he likes is all but dead.
He may as well die too.
#16294
He might even do better if he was born 100 years or more earlier. He would be forced to develop social skills because there would be no television, video games, or internet for him to leave them underdeveloped. People constantly tell him that there wouldn't be any of that stuff, but that would only be a concern if he were suddenly warped back to that era. If we didn't even have the concepts of these things, it wouldn't be a problem. No news constantly reporting exclusively negative stuff which ends up making him feel like crap after hearing it.
#16295
Or hell, maybe if he were born a few decades *later* when AspergerSyndrome and other conditions were well understood and accepted, he'd be raised and be able do better in life.
#16296
In conclusion: He feels like he was born at exactly the wrong time.
#16297
This Troper has always been told he would have been better off a couple decades ago as he was raised by a strict 50's military industiralist father and is basically
Ultimate Captain America with brown hair.
#16298
ThisTroper has been told quite a few times, that he seems like a
knight set in the present age.Told that GoodIsOldFashioned, and that having a
code of honor is too.
#16299
This one can totally relate. The present sucks in this aspect.
#16300
I would like to live to see a multidimensional time machine...with the capabilty to return me back to the time I originally used to travel back/forward. I probably won't see this happening for centuries, hence why this trope fits me.
#16301
in a twist, this troper has always felt she was born in the right century- with the internet, medicines, and all that good stuff. her fashion sense, on the other hand, belongs in the 18 hundreds at the very least( closer to the 1910's though.) give me a long, floaty dress over a mini skirt any day.
#16302
A while back it was my dream to live in America, though I'd now hope to be reincarnated American than just move there. Anyway, I wanted to be born in 1952, because then I'd live through the 60s and could become a hippie and it'd be awesome. I also wish I could have experienced loads of other periods though. I'm a history geek.
#16303
This troper is not sure if she would enjoy it or not, but she definitely believes she would fit in very well in the early to mid 1900s. She has short, curly hair and a larger frame, which were more popular back then than they are today. She also prefers gentlemen, which were more prevalent during that time period, to many men today that are immature and act like slobs.
#16305
This
commie troper beleives he would probably have been better off living in the 19th century and spending time with the Chartists or fighting on the barricades in 1848 or 1871.
#16306
This Troper wishes he lived in the Medieval period, sometimes. Then he fell in love, and became perfectly happy with this millennium.
#16307
This Troper wants to live in the 80's so bad, because then she wouldn't be regarded as such a freak for loving the pop culture back then. Music was actually music instead of some screeching set to computers, movies were cheesy yet amazing, the clothes were so bright and fun, and even though she was born in 1992, she misses it. That's right, I miss an era I wasn't born for. *pops in {{Labyrinth}} and cries in a corner*
#16308
Sort of. This troper was born in the wrong decade, and belongs in the generation above her current one.

While playing {{Paranoia}}, this troper knew a guy who played his Yellow level character this was. The class gap between Yellows and Greens, combined with the Yellow rank glass ceiling and the CrapsackWorld that canon was, made it more believable than annoying wangst. This is why we stopped playing the game seriously, because it was just so damn depressing. #QUOTE#I'd like to see the sun. The moon. Know what it's like to eat meat. Or plants. Swim. Maybe they didn't have phasers, but they had the sky.

This tropette who has an insatiable lust for adventure, would have loved to have lived in the old American West or Australia in the 1800's.

This troper's manner seems to alternate between something appropriate to
Holmesian England or the 1920's. The music, the culture, the clothes... *Sigh* Although I'd probably end up masquerading as a man, seeing as they had it pretty much better during both of those periods.
Not that I would mind, but it could prove a touch difficult.

This troper should have been a Cavewoman. I'd sell everyone Geico insurance and club dinosaurs for supper.

Sometimes I wish I was born in the late 1700s/early 1800s in America, Britain, or France. I would have probably gotten myself a job at some leatherworking shop and spent the rest of my days happily working. =D

While I'm otherwise fine with being a child of the 90's, music-wise, I'd have preferred to be around in the 70s and 80s; maybe even the 50s and 60s. I despise modern music.
