I tend to take this trope with a grain of salt the size of an oyster, as people tend to have jarring personality shifts in real life too with seemingly no explanation.

This Troper can safely say that if there is a crossover roleplay going on that involves mostly canon characters, it will have this in spades. Even I have derailed Soma and Gotou-san.
