RickRoll
#109027
This Troper got Rick-Rolled in Sidecca. One moment, she's looking at all of the novelty items they sell, and, the next moment, "We're no strangers to love. You know the rules, and so do I." I laughed and it's still brought up in the family to this day.

This troper started an ''a cappella'' group at his college, and its members kept clamoring to do "
Hey There Delilah". I only acquiesced when I figured out how to turn it into a giant XanatosRoulette:
#109029
We got up in front of the audience and announced that we were singing "Hey There Delilah"... only to bust out with the RickRoll song. HilarityEnsues (hopefully).
#109030
''Then'' we segued straight into "Delilah", which was intended to inspire FridgeBrilliance in the listeners: "Oh yeah, Tropers/SlvstrChung's specialty is to stitch two similar-themed songs together. So I guess it's one of those." And we went back and forth between them for one verse & refrain of each.
#109032
Long story short: we RickRolled a RickRoll. It was pretty fun.
#109033
This troper actually likes the song, and watches rick rolls the whole way through.
#109034
This Troper has a little brother who rickrolled an entire wedding reception. Oh boy, that was funny yet awesome at the same time
#109036
no, he isn't. I wash he was though.
#109037
My friend, on April Fool's day: "Hey, guys, I have a new taking-over-the-world-scheme." *we huddle close* "Ready? ... ... We're no strangers to lo-o-ove, you know the rules, and so do I!"
#109038
Queuing up the Rick Roll song fifty-three times on a bowling alley's jukebox is a great way to make everyone in the building hate your guts.
#109039
Do you work at Bowlplex in Tower Park, Poole? It's always on when I go in there.
#109040
This troper was Rick Rolled at a drive thru! I had gotten done ordering a couple of drinks, when I noticed a tune on going through the air. I t eventually hit me that it was "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley playing over their speakers...my gilfriend and I both had a major "You're kidding me" moment when we realized the song that was playing. Hilarity ensued.
#109041
In this troper's choir, we have an arrangement of many songs at once (a medaly). One of them is this. Amusingly enough, when it was first presented to us, the choir master thought it was by the spice girls. He managed to rick roll himself!
#109042
This troper just rickrolled her husband. Seriously. He was being obnoxious, so she navigated to the YouTube page and started it up. He had it coming, and she regrets NOTHING!
#109043
@/MetaFour was one of the hosts of an 80's-themed Halloween party. He dressed up as Rick Astley, but didn't explain to anyone who asked what his costume was. After the party was well underway and a good number of people were on the dancefloor, he stopped the B-52's song that was playing and put on "Never Gonna Give You Up". He sang along as he danced. ...Considering how the song fit the context and everyone liked it, I think it was an
anti-Rickroll.
#109044
This troper managed to accidentally get Rickrolled ''while reading an article on Rickrolling''. The article was from {{Uncyclopedia}}, which at the time had a link at the top claiming I had a message waiting. Out of confusion, I clicked it, realising the trick a split second later.
#109045
This song is now this troper's Academic Quiz Team's theme song. That means that we will be singing it whenever we start a match. Fun times do await.
#109046
This troper's friend Rick Rolled the entire school during the talent show last year. They thought he was going to sing Sweet Caroline, which he did eventually, but not before holding his smartphone to the mic...
#109047
Oh yeah, Rickrolling the entire school is INCREDIBLY fun. Especially when you actually get a suit on and get one of your friends to start doing something before you come out and push them off the stage.
#109048
The students in charge of sound at this Australian troper's Year 12 Assembly (an assembly/concert run exclusively by the year 12s on their last day of school)
RickRolled ''the national anthem''. (They got permission first, but it was still awesome.)
#109049
W-Wait, do you um go to James Fallon High School too?
#109050
Haha no. I'm sure lots of people have done it!
#109051
This Troper frequents a forum that has a reputation system. It is possible to include a message with the rep you gain. The message can contain BBCode. HilarityEnsued.
#109052
This troper has a friend who's main project for Com Tech class was a three-minute video about a kid getting Rick Rolled in real life. It ended up on the year-end video, and
It was epic.
#109053
This troper did it in writing. He wrote the lyrics (until the end of the first refrain) on his friend's desk. She didn't get it.
#109054
This troper took an AP European History class during her senior year of high school and had to take a practice AP test with this song playing through her head. It's rather difficult to focus when you have the chorus playing through your head and you're trying to write an in-class essay on the Industrial Revolution.
#109055
This troper had an instance of Rickrolling people, and once instance of ''almost'' doing it to a group. To wit:
#109056
The time I did pull it off was at a cast party after a high school play I was in. We went to the local skating rink and I was in charge of being the DJ, a job I did most excellently. I was looking through the music list on the computer there- and a rather large library at that- and, well, I found ''that song.'' Of course I didn't play it right away, rather I waited until I started another song and then switched halfway through. Angry fists were shaken. It was hilarious, and totally worth it.
#109057
The time I ''nearly'' got one was at a youth leadership conference one summer. It was hosted mostly in a hotel in the Washington, DC area (except for when they took us places, but that's digressing), and one night they held karaoke in one of the conference rooms. Someone sitting at the table I was at noticed "Never Gonna Give You Up" in the book and asked if anyone wanted to pull a Rickroll. I said I would be interested, but at the time I had never heard the song in full. Sad, I know. So I asked the guy if he'd help me out with it, but he chickened out, saying he couldn't sing. To this day, not going up and 'Rolling everyone there is my second-biggest regret from that conference...
#109058
This troper has been rick rolled by a convenience store. It started to play right as I was walking in.
#109059
This Troper was participating in a school program called "Thespian Week." At the end of the last day, the director (a senior who was running the thing) called the cast into the theater and had us all sit down, then said, in a very grave voice, "I have some bad news for you guys." As soon as we started to look worried, he grinned broadly and said, "You've just been RICKROLLED!" as the opening bars of the song started playing from the sound booth.
#109060
This troper's mother owns an antique jukebox. While on vacation, she bought some records, including Chantilly Lace, one of my favorite old songs that I've wanted since she got the jukebox. She puts it in and tells me the number so I can start it up. I do and start to walk away, not noticing everyone struggling not to burst out laughing. Guess what. (Fortunately, she ''did'' get Chantilly Lace too.)
#109061
This troper will rickroll everyone he emails.
#109062
This troper walked into Cold Stone today. Guess what was on the radio.
#109063
This troper has rickroll'd ALL of her friends, and now she never clicks another youtube link.
#109064
This troper has even gone as far to spoof lyrics of the refrain twice, once with Weegee references, and another with Angry Birds.
#109065
I have a friend that loves to rickroll people. We always hang out at this particular cafe, to the point that we can occasionally dictate the ambient music. She gave them a copy of the song. One day, just when she came in, it started playing. She insists I did it on purpose, but it was pure coincidence!
#109066
The same friend also managed to do a variation on facebook, when she posted "What would Rick Astley never do?" as her status and people replied with the lyrics.
#109067
This troper has started a help group for those rickrolled. Can be joined
here
#109068
This troper embarrassingly lost a position on his high school's improv troupe to a rickroller.
#109069
This troper has a friend who has the song stuck in his head. If you sing one part to him, doesn't matter which part, he actually Rickrolls himself.
#109070
This troper rickrolled the PrettyCure fan community on April Fool's Day 2011. His method? Deceive unsuspecting users into thinking TheMovie of ''SuitePrettyCure'' would be in 3D. When they view the video as directed... POW! Right in the kisser!
#109071
This troper changed all the links on Wikipedia's Rickroll article to point to a Rickroll on April Fools' Day.
#109072
This troper was watching a friend streaming AmnesiaTheDarkDescent when the player, repeatedly being stumped by puzzles, was sent a video link from one of his friends, who had been helping him up to that point. The video was a RickRoll. The chat exploded with laughter and praise for the one guy. (The stream session was made all the more awesome when the player started playing Guile's theme as he took on the monster he had to face when he managed to get past the puzzle after the video was linked. That one session was talked about for days.)
#109073
I have actually never been rickrolled and had to go search it on you tube just to see what it was like. Anyone else?
#109074
Enzeru: I once got Rick Rolled by my best friend by text as a compliment, just without the love part. By that I mean he meant the lyrics, or however I should put that.
#109075
Edgy did this to everyone... at his wedding.
#109076
Some guys in my art lesson once created a Rickroll that wouldn't close to troll our teacher.
#109077
This song plays at least once a day at this troper's place of work. It's a cash-'n'-carry warehouse with an incredibly bad pop soundtrack.
