This troper was in a short play. One day, we were rehearsing blocking for the entire play; we needed to keep track of where we were, but reciting all the dialogue would have been a waste of time. So everybody came up with impromptu comedic plot summaries which we gave instead of the actual dialogue, complete with LampshadeHanging and AlternateCharacterInterpretation (the male lead repeatedly ended lines directed at the female lead with "
bitch", which was completely out of character). It sounded for all the world like an Abridged Series of our play. The CrowningMomentOfFunny was at the very end, when my character, whose only function was to wander onstage at the end and say one line (discharging several comedic {{Chekhovs Gun}}s), came on and said,
"Hi, I'm the punch line." The director couldn't stop laughing the entire time; it was wonderful.
