RealLife
#107684
This Troper once had to deal with real life. But then he found TV Tropes.
#107686
This troper feels that RealLife is vastly overrated.
#107687
Me too! With those exact words 3 months before I even knew this site existed. WOOOOOO!
#107688
The only reason I prefer real life to TV Tropes is that nobody potholes to NoJustNo, XJustX or SarcasmMode.
#107689
Also, nobody flips out when you say you find someone attractive.
#107691
I wish we all lived in Fictionland.
#107692
Me too. Wouldn't wanna get killed by a robot or alien army, but at least it's an interesting way to go. So of course I have many, many different {{Dream Sequence}}s about
what I wish my life could be like.
#107693
Real life? What is this Real life you speak of?
#107694
This troper has heard some positive things about Real Life, but I just can't find the time to get into it.
#107696
Is it somehow related to SecondLife?
#107699
This troper quite likes real life, the graphics are lovely, though they enter {{uncanny valley}} rather frequently, and the plotline experiences {{mood whiplash}} a bit too often. I have met many kind people through real life, though there also seems to be some sort of problem with {{troll}}s, especially in certain areas though the moderators don't appear to be doing much to resolve this.
#107701
Plug the "gun" peripheral into the "mouth" port, then run "trigger.exe." This will force a shutdown and wipe your memory. Make sure you really think it over, though. It usually bricks your system.
#107702
This troper hates real life so much, he created his own universe where he can relax
after he dies.
#107703
Who needs Real Life when you Internet?
#107704
My friends all seem to have RealLife, but I can't seem to find a copy ''anywhere''. Can you get it on eBay?
#107705
Not that I know of. Maybe Amazon has it in stock...
#107706
Real Life is okay. The graphics are awesome but the grinding just ''sucks''. This troper's been a Level 1 Temp for ''two years.''
#107707
Not to mention the StatGrinding. It's not even permanent! And don't get me started on the fetch quests, escort missions, overly-complicated dialogue trees, {{NPC}}s, etc., etc....
#107708
This troper always hears bad things about RealLife, but is told "Hey, that's Life". I'm confused as to which one I'm in, the awesome RealLife or the sucky Life.
#107709
This troper wishes RealLife would just kindly go the f*ck away, cause it so miserable.
#107710
This Troper actually found a ROM of Real Life, but you ''really'' don't want to download it. There are glitches everywhere, the [=NPCs=] keep telling me to buy the game even though I'm playing it. It gets old very fast: "Get a real life, sheesh!" Every single 5 minutes. However, I applaud the realism of the physics engine.
#107711
The graphics aren't all bad, either. The detail level of textures is probably the best I've seen so far. Big minus for the repetitive gameplay, though. Oh well, at least the {{Dream Sequence}}s can get quite imaginative.
#107715
Is this the Real Life page, or is it just fantasy?
#107716
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality.
#107717
Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see: I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy...
#107718
'Cause I'm Easy Come, Easy Go, Little High, Little Low...
#107719
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to meeeeee...
#107720
This troper has decided that RealLife is boring and mundane, but it's the only RealLife there is.
#107721
This troper found that the "Real Life" ad in the main page is VeryFalseAdvertising. No monthly fee? Yes, unless you want to get anywhere. Massive world to explore? Yet more costs...
#107722
But at least the costs are all in in-game money.
#107723
Real Life has by far the best and most realistic
dating simulation around. But it's one of the
hardest dating sims ever.
#107724
This troper finds that Real Life is a very subjective thing.
#107725
Players in games that manage to beat you, and for one reason or another, you can't get them back.
#107728
The few times this RealLife thing doesn't suck it never gets as good as you want it to be. Hey hot girl, nope she is popular. Hey that is funny, wait did you just make a joke about the holocaust? Hey pretty rainbow fountains in my dreams, oh shit the rest of the dream is me being kidnapped. Hey this manga seems cool, ooh they also made CardcaptorSakura? OH shit now it is a year and a half later and I am having trouble leaving this
cult. The highlights of my experience with RealLife were not fun now think of the bad stuff.
#107729
Does anybody know any Cheat Codes?
#107731
Gathering those
flat green objects seems to make things easier. But the quests for them take years and require many skill points.
#107733
I've only been at it for fifteen years; I hope I won't finish anytime soon! Currently I'm in the
risky Crush level, hopefully I finish with a high
score.
#107734
Steventheman 15 years for me...and I still haven't got past the bloody "School" level yet, boring, would not recommend to a friend: 2/5 stars
#107735
This Troper has been playing a mind-numbing 18 years. I tried quitting twice, but It didn't work. I'm almost done with the 'high school' level and I'm looking forward to the 'college' level up next. A whole new server! It takes a metric fuckton on money to reach it though.
#107736
I've been at it 22.5 years. The college level is the hardest so far, but the bosses aren't too intimidating. It really eats up hit points, somehow, though.
#107737
This troper finds Real Life really boring and repetitive, but the Tv Tropes bonus level was quite interesting.
#107738
This troper got annoyed and quit real life after he found out that the cake was a lie.
#107739
This Troper is 18 and ready to finished the "school" level, and this trooper has signed a contract for 4 years to enter the service and will enter a "PvP Zone" a Game of skill, will and luck, at best this troper may come home with respect and buffs physicaly and connections. At worse the game may turn into "Shell-Shocked Veteran" or I may lose the game and that may be that last game Im ever in unless the respawn system what people call "reincarnation" is on.
#107741
I play Real Life, and while I like the socialising aspect, the exam term level is really stressful. I wish there were a patch to pass it with a perfect score.
#107742
Not to break the lighthearted real life streak, but for this admittedly
teenaged troper, her unusually high level of intelligence is generally this. Sure, I know tons of stuff and I love knowing the stuff and I love figuring things out, but let me list some of the downsides.
#107743
People always assume she's arrogant, thinking that she thinks she has all the answers
#107744
If she is the only one pushing a true point (say, an error of fact or pronunciation) in the entire group of people she's in, no one listens to her and she has to agonize over whether it was right to speak up in the first place
#107745
Classes full of slightly stupid people seem like endless, torturous hells full of juvenile idiots who are so unintelligent as to seem barely competent in all non-physical matters
#107746
Trying to do anything about it comes across as arrogance, even though it's just self-preservation due to a lack of desire to be slowly driven insane
#107747
When you ''can't'' figure something out or don't know something, it irks you for a long time. Similarly, if you were unable to figure out something that seems simple, you can't stop kicking yourself about it. In short, the smarter you are, the less likely you are to be wrong, but the less likely you are to be wrong, the wronger you will eventually be.
#107748
Which is how I pull of the impression of knowing the answer almost everything. It's a blessed with suck within a blessed with suck, because I'm actually just terrified of giving the wrong answer to something.
#107749
Moral complications involving sparing peoples feelings vs. halting the spread of false knowledge
#107750
When you make a mistake, people alternately think of it as betrayal or taunt you for it
#107751
You can see people's flaws and upsides a lot quicker than other people would
#107752
Worst, prejudices. People hate your intelligence, envy it, disdain it. You'll inspire disgust and despair. You'll annoy your teachers and piss off your classmates, and I presume the same would happen in a job (with superiors for teachers and peers for classmates). Even people you care about will get jealous sometimes.
#107753
One bright side to the bit where no one ever really accepts you is that when someone ''does'' accept you, be it because they're willing to look past your intellect to your personality or because your intelligence fascinates them, you can generally only sustain a friendship with them if they're very close. This means that the few friends you'll get will be very close, very devoted friends, whom you're devoted to as well. There are very few things more rewarding than friendship that close.
#107754
There, and that wasn't even touching on the whole scholastic aspects as mentioned in the 'real life' section of the main page.
#107755
Well okay. One more thing. Spoilers. I'm very good at finding things out prematurely. Most people, they need a spoiler spelled out for them. Me, I've spent enough time trying to think like a detective (out of sheer curiosity towards my potential), and being good at it for a non-fictional teenager, that I can piece together a spoiler from one or two misplaced words. I'm almost never surprised. Which is why when I am, I tend to rejoice for like a week. Like when my friend's friend impersonated my friend over a chat server, and actually had me going, I liked her a lot. Or when I read a particular short story by Neil Gaiman (the plot twist of which was so epic I won't even tell you which story it was for fear of giving any hint of anything away).
#107756
You're not alone. I'm like this too. Oh, god, are you my clone or something?
#107758
This troper found Real Life boring and miserable and wanted to quit the game for a while, but friends said it would get better. It's not as miserable anymore, but still quite boring.
#107759
That's the problem with Real Life. Too many of the more interesting story paths carry the most hazard to your character. I'm guessing it's a built-in deterrent to prevent people from becoming trolls, griefers, or PKers. Doesn't stop some people, but what can you do?
#107760
Anyone know if there's a StrategyGuide?
#107761
You're already here.
#107762
RealLife is great sometimes. I mean, there are annoying plotlines and characters sometimes, and the cast of characters is a little hard to keep track of, but ISN'T IT JUST SO AMAZING?!? It's so realistic, and sometimes even so full of depth. You might even say it's like...RealLife. I even have a screenshot of it as my desktop background, I'm that big a fan of it.
#107763
Am I the only one hoping for Cross-Overs?
#107764
I'm with you on that one!
#107766
This troper finds the stat system incredibly intricate. I'm glad that I rolled a moderately high INT, but my WIS, STR, and CHA are pretty low. Plus, my character was randomly assigned the ADHD de-buff. Fortunately, I also got assigned into a white upper-middle class family and paid extra during the school level to upgrade from the public servers to private.
