This Troper and two of his net buddies possibly qualify as this (though we might as well call ourselves a Token Trio, given that this troper is Chinese, another is black and the other guy is white). Much to this troper's chargin, he's probably the Id of the Trio, being the youngest and possibly the one most prone to boderline-psychotic episodes. The white guy's the superego given his perfectionist nature, while the black guy's the ego.

I, my boyfriend, and my general best friend can be retrofitted somewhat into this. I'm closely aligned to Superego, my boyfriend is probably Ego, and the best friend is Id. We're all actually very close despite the way the trope presents it as there being quite a lot of conflict...so...potential inversion? Maybe?

Because I make so few friends, I tend to fall into this and am in fact, in two power trios. One is with my two best guy friends since I was in sixth grade and the other is with the two girls I hang out with in college. In both groups I'd be the super ego. With the guys I'm the leader, the big guy is the id and the ego is the comic relief.

Above poster again. Some minor changes as I no longer hang out with the two girls and now have a different group in which I'm probably the id (albeit the mildest id ever only because my girlfriend is more superego than I am and her roommate is probably the ego).

This troper, his friend from the Netherlands, and his brother have formed one of these. I tend to be the superego, the friend as the id, and the brother the ego. Since we first actually noticed it while playing Synergy together, we named the trio the "Threemen Brothers": me as Gordon, the id as John, and the ego as Henry.

This Troper's Five Man Band had a smaller, more often used group. The Power Trio between Reggie, Joey, and Johnny(This Troper). We were known as "The Wolf Brothers". He also had a Power Trio online, known officially as "The Perverteers/ The Perverted Masters/ The Perverted Elite". Consisting of Josh, Ethan, and Myself.

Joey, The Id. (Impulsive, Hungry, Dumb, and Lacking in any sort of Ethics)

Reggie, The Ego,with Id tendencies. (Mostly the Mediator and generally trying to keep us from being too lazy...but also to keep us from being too productive, But Impulsive, Horny, and a very flexible(Read:Orange and Blue Morality) Moral Code.)

Myself, The Super Ego, with Ego Tenancies. (Honorable, Lawful, Intelligent to a degree, but emotionally unhealthy and trying to deal with the two others.)

Josh, the Id. (Our Idiot Hero, the complete and total lovable sex maniac. With emphasis on Lovable and even more emphasis on sex maniac.)

Ethan, the Ego, with superego Tendencies. (Our Lovable Covert Handsome Lech, with the covert on Lech, and now handsome. Not much to say as he has other depths than perversity, but enjoyed our escapades nonetheless.

Myself, again, as the Superego, but rather with Id Tendencies this time. (The Chivalrous Pervert of the group, but struggling between the Honor Side and the really horny side.)

The first one, who will be called "A", is thee Id of the group. He says things without thinking, usually involving "that's what she said" or some other DoubleEntendre, and is without a doubt the wildest of our group. Then again, he's the only one of us 3 that has actually had a lasting relationship. God knows '''how''', but I digress.

Then, there is me, "J". I am the superego of our group. I keep "A" from doing something stupid, or at least try my best. I will admit, that I can be a bit over bearing at times though. But without me, "A" and the rest of our PowerTrio 's friends would end up doing something incredibly dangerous, stupid, or dangerously stupid.

Finally, there is "S", the ego. He is able to somehow control both my crazy and "A"'s crazy. He will help me keep "A" under control when I'm right, and will tell me to loosen up when "A"'s right. All the while, he hardly raises his voice, and is usually getting a laugh out of it, too. This is probably why he is student body president.

Three trios to which I belong fit this trope:

The first trio is composed of myself and my class best friends. I am the trio's super-ego; Jeri is our id; and Ace is our ego.

In the second trio, which was formed due to the three of us being co-moderators for an online clique, I am with my BFF and LoveInterest. Being the youngest and most hyper, I'm the id of this trio; K-chan, the lead moderator, is our super-ego; and M-kun is the ego.

The third trio has me with my two new best friends. Once again, I am the super-ego; Jenny is our ego; and Lica is the id.

This Troper's old group was something like this. While the actual number of people varied, the Power Trio mainly existed over the summer. Cass was the id, Juliet was the ego and I was the superego. Good times...

When this troper's American History teacher was attempting to explain the concept of id, ego, and superego to his less than intelligent class, he pulled me and my two best friends up to demonstrate. I, the Team Mom, was Ego, while my rival/best friend was Id, and his boyfriend, the resident knight in shining armor, was Superego. Looking back on it, I wouldn't be surprised if said teacher was a troper...

This troper's family could be described like this. I'm the Id (videogames, hunger, rage), my sister Autumn is the Superego (sophisticated, word of reason), and my Dad is the Ego, where he literally changes when he's near either one of us.

This troper's old friends (long since split up), consisting of said Troper, the best friend, and the male-best friend (who everything seems to think I fancied).

This troper and her two best friends are TheKirk, TheSpock, and TheMcCoy to a T. TheMcCoy of the group has an outrageous Southern accent and everything, it's perfect. This somewhat emotionally distant troper is TheSpock.

@/CrashGordon94 is either TheSpock or TheMcCoy of whatever group he's in. Usually TheSpock with younger or more daft people, and TheMcCoy with more grown up and sensible people. I guess flip-flopping in that particular way could make me TheKirk overall.

Me, a girl I often hang out with and her best friend, especially in school, during lessons. She is very lazy and mostly wants to sleep/go home/eat something, her friend actually tries to get stuff done, and I can't really decide on either way.

This troper and his best male and female friends in high school, college and law school fit this trope; in all cases, the male friend fits the Id, while this troper fits the Superego role except with his college friends, in which his religious and conservative girlfriend was the Superego and he was the Ego.

This troper, her mother, and best friend are a PowerTrio. The troper is the Id, her best friend is the Ego, and her mother is the Superego. Though this troper can be the Ego whenever the normal Ego is drunk/tired/just having an off day. Likewise her best friend and mother can switch roles as well.

This troper's circle of friends takes this to its ultimate extreme, to the point of having a Power Trio of Power Trios, with a couple of Five Man Bands.

This Troper uses Power Trios to argue with complex subjects. This Troper is the id: he tries to associate his ideas with his own experience (Unconscious), is very pessimistic and accentuates the negative (Thanatos), despises both moderation and being in the present, perceives lots of Freudian imagery (Eros), will not do anything unless it has either a reason or an immediate reinforcement or reward, and often argues because complexities amused him. Oh, and he has PerverseSexualLust for Anime (Libido) and is generally aggressive to the point of suicide (Destrudo). This troper's friend is the super-ego: he possesses the ability of self-control (Conscience), can be very optimistic while remaining logical (Ego Ideal) and can immediately answer to the questions posted by the id. The friend can sometimes act as id, because he is amused by cute real girls, and often talks more about games rather than experience, and this troper can sometimes act as the super-ego, because he has very idealistic tendencies. The Ego can vary from one person to another, but usually the ego is a foreigner who often asks questions and also wastes his time talking with the id.

Thinking about it, This Troper falls into a Power Trio, with me as the superego, my brother as the id, and my best friend as the ego.

During a conversation with a friend, he referenced me, another friend, and himself as such. He identified ME as superego, the other friend as Id, and himself as ego. This was during a conversation where we were pretty much naming as many tropes as possible per sentence.

Subverted: Me and three friends at my school make up the "Square of Power", which is our Group of 4 that pretty much kicks ass in every academic event we enter.

This troper and his brother generally form the superego and ego, respectively, which works since most who would fit into the third slot tend to be ids anyway.

This troper had three good friends in college (hereafter referred to as C, J, and M) and was therefore part of TWO Power Trios. (C and M were on friendly terms but just didn't hang out a lot.) J, M, and This Troper were roommates the last two years at a college that houses the majority of its students three to a room and therefore lends itself to a lot of Power Trios. This troper was the id: younger than the other two, impulsive, hotheaded, and probably best characterized as a JerkWithAHeartOfGold. J was the superego, a GentleGiant (over 6' and near 300 lbs.) that was the first one to calm another of us down when one of us went off the deep end, and M was the ego with slight superego tendencies. Take M out of the equation and add C, and the dynamic changes completely because C is just that fucking NUTS. J is still the Superego and is needed around more than ever, and this troper becomes the Ego with id tendencies simply because it's impossible to out-id C.

This Troper and her two best friends fill several variations of PowerTrio. I'm the Asian bisexual superego, along with a white girl ego and the white gay guy id. We also fit WithAFriendAndAStranger (all met within a week of each other, but they were close to each other before I was close to either of them... actually, me and the guy weren't really close until we came out to each other quite recently) ThreeAmigos (except the only love triangle involved is me, the guy and another (straight) guy, all unrequited) ChromaticArrangement (I'm blue, she's red and he's green) and TwoGuysAndAGirl (GenderFlipped).

This troper just recently realized that one of the power trios she's in (she has a few circles of friends, and decided a while ago that she seemed to travel with friends in threes) is such a FreudianTrio it's not even funny. This troper would usually play the role of SuperEgo, but she plays mediator so much in this PowerTrio that she decided she's Ego in this case. Her shorter, spaztic friend is Id, and her taller, quieter friend is SuperEgo.
