This troper has noticed so many relationships that seem almost Fairy-tale material end in a series of massive fights merely because the couples just can't freaking ''TALK'' to one another. This troper is also a normal victim of this - when he was younger people never seemed to understand what he was saying, only to force him to repeat himself ''numerous times'' before slowing down and saying everything ''as precisely'' as possible. And then I'm called out on it for being rude. Now I try to normally be as precise as possible...and now they manipulatively-hear he and put words in my mouth. People quote me on stuff that I've never at all said, seem to casually omit several things I'm saying into something else (I can't tell how many times I said something along the lines of "Look at what the dog is doing" and instead everyone seemed to hear "look at ____ the dog __ _____.") I've had to warn people several times that if I have to repeat myself three times, then I begin to quite angrily hammer it into their heads because ''NOBODY CAN FUCKING UNDERSTAND ME''. And before you say something - no I don't have some kind of speech disorder; nobody seems to freaking understand me in text, either.

Could you repeat that?

Don't take it too hard, most people aren't doing it on purpose, they just have gotten by without paying attention so they never learned how to. I have the exact same problem and people are always hearing what they wanted me to say instead of what I actually said. All you can do is point out what you actually said and if they get upset it's not because you "caught" them lying about it but they are embarrassed that they didn't listen and verbally attack you rather then admit their own mistake and have to try to correct it.

Isn't it always amazing how when a person is having relationship troubles they want to talk about it with ''everyone but the person they're having problems with''.

And isn't it amazing how most of that previous rant was about communicaiton problems in general not just ones in relationships?

This troper once had to deal with a truly spectacular example of this, combined with aggressive idiocy, in World of Warcraft, in Blackrock Depths. Playing a mage, I said over the game's voice chat, "Don't shoot the sheep," in my deepest, firmest, clearest voice. I am a deep baritone, about the same range as Michael Dorn. Online, I drop my voice even further, and being a former choral singer, when I project, I ''project''. So, when we encounter the patrol, and I turn the medic into a sheep, what do they do? Shoot the sheep, causing him to turn back into a medic. After the second time they wiped, I explained, yet again, how to deal with a Blackrock Depths patrol: Incapacitate the medic (turn him into a sheep, in this case), concentrate attacks on the officer, then wipe out the soldiers, then finally attack the medic. So the next patrol we come across, they shoot the sheep. I opened a portal back to Ironforge.

I have had to cope with that while doing teamwork. One of the guys had to travel some 2 or 3 days before a deadline, and did not warn us. As a result, our work was late. --- Go back to {{Poor Communication Kills}}, and what was that? Oh well, Fate}} it probably wasn't that important Midsentence}} any-
