FilkSong

This Troper and her brother did that a lot when they were kids, making up lyrics about Pokemon to Genesis songs.

Guilty as charged. See the Main/ShipSinking entry. Yes, I'm the same Scifantasy. In addition, check out the "Rich Fantasy Lives" video linked from the main page...I'm the one on the right--no, not the woman doing the ASL poetry, the guy in the light blue. It's a long story about how I was on a reality television show and talked Tom and Rob into letting me sing "Lives" on the air, and it got on--though it was pretty butchered by editing--and never mind. Just--yeah. Filker, part of the community and all, right here.

Everybody who has heard of that ''Joy to the World'' song with {{Barney}}-themed lyrics, raise your hand. Now, hands up those of you ''who have never sung it yourselves.''

This troper has written several - such as a version of "I Want It That Way" (actually based on the Weird Al takeoff, but the same tune) based around /tg/, a few lines of an {{Eberron}} version of "Khe Sanh", and having perverted Coldplay's Viva la Vida into a song about IWannaBeTheGuy, is now turning a certain {{Animaniacs}} take on the Mexican Hat Dance into "Abominations of the World, brought to you by Yakko Lovecraft!" (Things get sillier towards the end, with abominations including Japan, Pikachu, Unix code, Batman, and [[strike:Furby]] wait that one fits.) The best verse so far: #QUOTE#Cyyyyynothoglys Rhogog\\ Amatsu-Mikaboshi\\ Tiamat Apophis Typhon\\ Azathoth Daoloth\\ Nyogtha and\\ Rlim Shaikorth Ithaqua Dagon.

MeganPhntmGrl: I've written probably upwards of 100 filk songs since early adolescence, culminating in my current project of relyricizing the score of ''TanzDerVampire'' in its entirety to the plot of a ''{{Watchmen}}''-based RP campaign. (Not to mention "Radioactive Jonny", a song about Dr. Manhattan from Laurie's POV set to Kurt Weill's "Surabaya-Johnny".)

One of this troper's lecturers dabbled in what could probably be classed as filk. Not only did he make two Albums, 'Songs for Cynical Scientists' and 'More Songs for Cynical Scientists' (both recorded at Cold Spring Harbor) but he regularly performs one of his songs, written specifically to cover his lectures, for his undergraduates at the end of his lecture series. A video of him performing is actually available on YouTube.

My entire sophomore year of high school was spent making these with a friend of mine. We must have done the entire discography of System of a Down. Most of the resulting songs were about ninjas.

It wasn't so bad, back in the 90's. This troper browsed through a few {{Usenet}} newsgroups, making occasional comments, and every now and then composing a brief little verse. Then I started reading WebComics, and making comments, and got a couple of positive comments in return ... and that's when it began. The ''*shudder*'' SelfImposedChallenge. Is it actually possible to write one (or more) filk songs every day? Current record: 278 consecutive days. Current total filks: over 1500.

This Troper has done a few and probably shouldn't have. Blame the Christmas rum for a {{Firefly}} edition of "BannedFromArgo" (including Book winning a fortune cleaning out the local gamblers, Mal and Inara giving the planet a pornographic show, and River spiking the local booze with something more mind-altering). There's no excuse for the GalaxyRangers version of "Threes" and the RedDwarf riff on the MST3K theme.

This troper will filk any song that decides to haunt her. So far, that has only been 2, but it was fun to rewrite "Kokomo" into a dark song about where her favorite vampires had been.

Anything this troper contributes to fanfiction.net has, and will be song-filks. I think they're crappy, but I admit that I only write them when I have an annoying {{EarWorm}} stuck in my head.

This troper writes Firefly filk to the tunes of traditional seafaring-related songs:
#48998
The Firefly Serenity ("The Bonnie Ship the Diamond")
#48999
Eavesdown Docks ("Shores of Botany Bay")
#49000
A Warhammer 40000 Emperor's Day carol, to the tune of "I saw three ships". I noticed "Emperor's" and "Christmas" had the same number of syllables, and, well...
#49001
Me and my brother once made a song about a horrible room we lived in on vacation, to the tune of Rickroll. Currently, we're working on a song about blueberries.
#49002
This Italian troper is an emulation enthusiast, so he wrote and sang this song about emulation to the tune of Articolo 31's ''Domani smetto''.
#49003
This troper sometimes gets bored and changes the lyrics of random songs to be about whatever she is interested in at the time. This can include {{Harry Potter}}, current events or her theatre group.
