ChallengeGamer

This troper is an aspiring challenge gamer--he won't use continues, and he plays ''{{Tetris}}: The Grand Master''. However, because of most people's attitudes towards them (and the stereotype that all Challenge Gamers are Japanese freaks with no lives), he kinda hates himself for that.

Really? I thought they were seen as American freaks with no lives.

Tropers/{{Excel-2010}}. As of this writing, I rank S2 in Nullpomino 7.3.0 with rule Classic3 (read: not that impressive), but as far as the other people who are familiar with just regular Tetris are concerned, I'm a godlike Tetris player. At Otakon 2010, I found someone running ''Tetris with'' ''CardcaptorSakura'', a TGM derivative with a much smaller difficulty curve, and I proceeded to destroy the competition as no one was able to wrap their mind around the finer points of that game's rotation rules. One observer asked if I'm Japanese based on my performance. I'm not.

This troper [[strike:has]] had dedicated himself to winning ''AncientDomainsOfMystery'' with a mindcrafter for bragging rights. Seven years of trying and no success, and the newsgroup I'd brag to is almost defunct. I finally started playing other classes out of frustration.

This troper sees GuitarHero and RockBand like Ryu sees the World Warrior tournament. Hell, his first Gamertag motto and the first quote on his Facebook page was a line from his ending: "Victory means nothing; the fight is everything." Incidentally, he loves Rock Band.

This troper fits this trope to a T. In ''{{Touhou}}'', for example, most sane people would probably be content just to clear Yukari's Last Word in ''Imperishable Night'', Scene 10-8 in ''Shoot the Bullet'', and/or Extra Mode on ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View''. This troper, on the other hand, has a strange urge to challenge himself to graze Yukari's Last Word as much as possible, get all 9 Nice Shot! bonuses while score attacking Scene 10-8, and score attack [=PoFV=] Extra by sending easy-to-counter attacks (by limiting himself to Lv.1 and Lv.2 charge attacks, bomb button notwithstanding) to goad the CPU into reflecting them back, giving him a chance to counter-counterattack for extra points. And don't get him started on the way he plays Bemani games...

If you aim to 100% certain games having PS3 trophies...say, Wipeout HD, you immediately qualify. Beating Zico requires not only having the right techniques, but also the PERFECT racing line. Any slip ups and you fail.

This troper has played IWannaBeTheGuy with just one added rule: a 1 hour time limit. Failing to complete the game within said time limit means restarting the entire thing. And is posting here upon having just done it successfully. It feels awesome.

What.

PICS OR YOU'RE A LIAR!

''Video'' or you're a liar!

This troper, after reading the above, in ChallengeGamer tradition decided to figure out whether it was possible using a rather straightforward hands-on method. And apparently, it is.

This Troper Aspires to compensate for his Godawful {{Halo}} Matchmaking skills by becoming a campaign player above the rest. It's going well so far.Well, with only 6 skulls on Legendary.
#20856
This troper has set himself the challenge of completing The Revenge Of Shinobi without losing a life on the hardest difficulty (basically, no extra lives if you continue) with no throwing knives (on the starting setting: it is impossible to complete even the first boss battle without throwing knives). Getting to world 4 is now really easy. Getting beyond that, however, is a little bit more tricky...

This troper, while not a ChallengeGamer normally, managed to get ''all'' the Kremkoins on DKC2, as well as beat all the {{Brutal Bonus Level}}s and the BonusBoss. And got most of the Hero coins as an added bonus. All '''without a guide of any kind other than Cranky''', who's useless a lot of the time.

I usually don't create my own challenges, but I often refuse to use the InfinityPlusOneSword. An example: I got all of the medals in AceCombat 6. This included beating every mission on Ace difficulty (Where a few bullets will kill you) and getting an S rank. I mostly used the F-22, but never the Nosferatu, which is incredibly maneuverable and has the best weapons in the game. Also, I beat every Spec. Ops mission on Veteran in ModernWarfare 2 by myself (with the exception of the two which require a second player).

This troper does this occasionally. Not obsessively or with every game, but he now finds it impossible to play Fallout: NV without a specific playstyle or challenge in mind. So far he's gone for a "headwound run" and "omnicide run". The first being a challenge mode game where your character never sleesp (putting a 2-week deadline on your play) and the second being a normal or challenge mode game wherein every non-respawning NPC has to be murdered.
