CampStraight

This troper Flaunted this throughout elementary school. Example: My Female friend claimed she was dating
Daniel Radcliffe. This Troper's response? "I have 1 simple question to prove whether or not that's true: What colour are daniel Radcliffe's eyes?" And then my other friend laughed and said "
Guy Crush!" However, This troper is and was then, Straight.

My colleague at work, the first 10 seconds I heard him talk I concluded "gay". Getting to know him better and his concern over his muscles and fat, hair and fashion sense didn't help either - I still had't seen one camp person in my life who was NOT gay. Couple of days later and, as he is actually pretty attractive, I could only think "daaamn, such a shame you're gay" combined with my other not-so-innocent thoughts.\\ Yet another couple of days later, I start to question my assumption that he didn't like women, but thought it was probably wishful thinking. The day I answered him something I don't even remember with a common and innocent phrase roughly translating to "always at your disposal" and he answers me "always at my disposal?" with a lewd smile right to my eyes took what doubts I had left away.\\ Bonus points for the fact that he was changing to his uniform, answering me that barechested with his shirt on his hands. I almost came.

This troper is a fourteen-year-old female that happens to adore anything having to do with music, theater, and fashion. I enjoy designing characters and houses (generally in a style rather fantasy-esque) and try to keep my appearance impeccable, and I have been told my sensibilities are closer to those of a gay man than those of a straight "girly-girl."
#18386
OH. MY. GOD. This troper has just found the PERFECT term to describe one of her best guy friends. He is incredibly flamboyant, has no problems with (and rather enjoys) dressing in drag, has the best damn hair out of all of her friends, dresses like an Urban Outfitter's model, and is as straight as an arrow, and an incurable flirt.
#18387
If you live in Oly, we may know the same guy.
#18388
This troper's uncle is best described as this.
#18389
I'm not sure if this counts, but despite being heterosexual, I have often had thoughts about wearing women's clothing.
#18390
This troper is one. And i quote:
#18391
Why do you know so much about hair care? (male classmate)
#18392
Ok, why the hell do you look better in a skirt than i do? (GF)
#18393
Also "i love you even if you make a better woman than me"
#18394
why the fuck are you laughing like a queer? (best friend n1)
#18395
one of these days im going to tell everyone you are gay, and no one will believe you when you say otherwise
#18396
You want to look like a faggot with those pants or what? (mother)
#18397
Thats gay hair... (best friend n2)
#18398
you whore! (best female friend, when she made me put on some of her clothes and i asked for other skirts to try and her fishnet tighs)
#18399
And i could keep going.
#18400
This troper fits this to an extent. He loves fashion design, especially dresses, and frequently dabbles in fantasy character design. He has some effeminate mannerisms. He constantly adjusts his hair. Perhaps he's not as extreme as many of the other examples here, but it's still there.
#18401
This troper crosses his legs, used to have horrible wrist strength, dotes on his looks quite a bit (although is not naturally very good looking), and is a fan of the movie ''{{Newsies}}''. I'm somewhere between bi and straight on the Kinsey scale, leaning more towards straight.
#18403
This troper used to be one, until he realized that
he didn't quite qualify. Due to being
mistaken for gay ''A LOT'', this troper now pretends to switch from camp straight and
straight gay just to irk / confuse people (and trust me, the resulting questions and discussions on this troper's orientation are HILARIOUS)
#18404
This troper is working on a sort of HorusHeresy AbridgedSeries (that will probably never be finished), and has given this role to Fulgrim (complete with a
Leeron ShoutOut). Sample dialogue: #QUOTE#'''Horus:''' Failbaddon, would you send in a remembrancer please? I'd like to tell someone about the third of June, 303.M31.\\ '''Fulgrim''': OK, OK, hon. I'll stop making fun of you, and you don't tell anyone I'm straight, deal?
#18405
Judging by my (OOZE's) extreme love of musical theatre, LadyGaga, and Frasier, I guess I'm one.
#18407
This Troper's Mother thought her Father was in a relationship with his (male) best friend when they first met. She was very wrong.
#18408
A friend of this troper is absolutely this. Actually, the weird thing is that he's not actually all that camp as such, but he just gives off this super gay vibe to everybody. (Actual dialogue: "He is so cute!" "Yeah, you two make a very cute couple." "Oh, no, we're not together! He's straight." "He's ''straight??''" - it had never crossed her mind that he might be straight.) But this troper has met his very long-term girlfriend.
#18409
My best friend finally has a label! One minute, he will be talking to me about how he wants to color his hair or singing to his Reba albums or complementing our other best (guy) friend's ass to going up to my
Guy of the Week and scaring him because he cracked his knuckles and said he'd come after the guy if he tried anything with me.
#18410
This troper is all over this trope. He wears female clothing (including ''skirts''), is vegan, often puts his hand on his hip when he's annoyed, plays female games, likes stereotypically female music, sometimes has feminine haircuts, enjoys cooking, is
shonen-ai Fanboy, likes shotacon, adores cute things, has a feminine vocabulary, is a romantic, has feminine views, is shy, likes to work out, crosses his legs a lot, colors his hair, etc. He's one of those most feminine people he's met, though he usually shows his boyish side instead. He's ''very'' straight, albeit {{Asexual}}. He's always crushing on girls (even random ones he sees on the street). He just believes he should be able to act how he wishes, and dislikes gender roles. Did he mention he loathes the term "meterosexuality", and that you should ''never'' use it around him or you will get ranted at?
#18411
This tropette's friend is MADE of this. It doesn't help that one of her other friends is very much a lesbian.
#18412
My father owns more shoes than my mother and I put together, loves shopping, has no macho hang ups about crying in front of other people, and is mistaken for gay so often that he's started to find it more amusing than annoying. #QUOTE#Me: It’s great how you completely jam everybody’s gaydar. #QUOTE#Dad: Yeah. It’s not my fault I’m straight, it’s just the way I am!
#18413
This troper's friend. Not only are she and her
friend since forever constantly MistakenForGay, she's a drama geek, does not understand personal space--especially with girls, natch--and hangs with the GLBTs. Also? She has a boyfriend of nearly a year and fangirls over Chord Overstreet.
#18415
I am straight (and polyamorous) and was CONSTANTLY believed to be a homosexual throughout middle and high school, and jeered by quite a number of people for it (to their credit, despite the horror stories you hear about how gay kids in schools get treated, nobody ever did more than mock me). Years later I show up to the class reunion, with both of my girlfriends. Several of the old bullies apologized. One actually said, "Dude, you're bangin' TWO chicks? You're more straight than other straight people."
#18416
This Troper once had an EvilMentor who was like this, dressed in drag, flirted with guys. Happily Engaged to pretty cute girl.
#18417
This Tropette knows of a guy like this at her school. He's very flamboyant and talks very similarly like all of his female friends who absolutely ADORE him. He wears bright colours, especially hot pink, and is always there to give his female friends fashion advice, he also gets at least 10 girls' phone numbers when clubbing. I would be friends with him too, if he wasn't so vain, rude and snobby
#18418
This troper knew one in high school. Tall, slender, had a lisp, in the Drama Club, very flamboyant... Is now married to a hot little Italian lady.
#18419
People occasionally think one of his friends is a lesbian because of how she looks and acts. She's not.
#18420
This (female) troper plays Call of Duty, rides motorcycles, never wears skirts, goes to see every hockey game she possibly can and is pretty good at most sports. People constantly ask her if she`s a lesbian ... well, they`re only half right. She`s bi.
#18421
This troper has a (male) friend who falls deep into this category. Slight build, high squeaky voice, a bit of a clothes and hair dandy, and extremely effeminate mannerisms that verge on SassyBlackWoman (he's white). He's also happily married now.
#18422
Whereas the troper himself has a good bit of effeminate mannerisms and sensitivity (and typically sports shoulder-length lustrous curls of hair), but never had the clothes sense to confuse most people.
#18423
One of this troper's classmates is this. What makes him different is his adorkable laugh.
#18424
This troper's freshman English teacher is this. At the beginning of the year many people thought he was gay. My best friend is still convinced that his "wife" is
just a cover up story.
#18425
I like to think I'm this. My (female) best friend and my girlfriend have stated that I'm not, but due to the fact that two other friends say I register on their gaydar, I think the first two only say that because I'm an incurable flirt (only to women). Or because one of them is my girlfriend and I've gone out with the other. One of those two.
#18426
One of my university professors is very soft-spoken and has several {{camp}} mannerisms. He's also HappilyMarried and has three children, whom I met when I bumped into them and their daddy in a mall.
#18427
This male troper is complelty straight. But has a few gay tendencies. for one i have a keen eye for female fasion, i am always complimenting my female friends outfits and describing how it matches well, or i tell them what would make it better. i also am a fan of RubyGloom MonsterHigh OwlCity and varoius other cutesey franchises. on top of this all i am very vocal if i think a certain pet i see is adorable, and overall i have more female friends becasue i relate to them better
#18428
This troper has a coworker who is frequently MistakenForGay because of his fondness for fashion, musicals, and cooking, and being very camp, despite developing hopeless crushes on beautiful women. In fact, various people comment that the troper is "more of a man" than he is. As a dominant, unfeminine straight woman - butch straight? - she sympathises.
#18429
This troper and his dad qualify. We both dress very dapper and dandy-like and both mind how we look. He keeps his hair closely shaved, which makes him a little less camp, but I prefer my hair longer. We also dislike sports, except soccer sometimes, and prefer quite feminine activities. We both can be very manly though if we want! Also, this troper is technically pansexual, but prefers girls or girly boys.
#18430
A boy in this troper's drama class lives on this. He's so utterly camp that the moment this troper met him she was sure he was gay- only to meet his girlfriend of three years later that day. This troper no longer trusts her ability to judge sexuality.
#18431
One of this troper's friends is this.
#18432
An acquaintance of this troper fits the trope to a T. He's incredibly camp - he even has a bit of a lisp - gossips like a mother hen, hangs around with all the ditziest girls and is ''annoying as hell''. Everyone thinks he's gay. My guess is...well...this trope.
#18433
This (female) troper is the camp (or butch) straight to her twin sister's straight gay.
#18434
One boy from this troper's choir has been described by several people roughly as follows: "He's not gay. Sure, he's a bit ''fruity'', maybe, but I don't think he's ''gay''." One girl even said that whenever she looked at him when he did something particularly flamboyant, she literally saw a big question mark in place of his head. Yet, this boy is always walking around with a girl on his arm, and he seems to like it just fine. The other choir kids have concluded that he acts the way he does because he's "a white boy trapped in a black body," and while nobody can deny that, I fail to see the connection between that and him being a CampStraight.
#18435
This Troper tends to act feminine at times, but all for fun. Since I have long hair, I tend to care for it a lot. More so than a girl usually would. When I'm with a friend (usually female) sometimes I randomly try on their sweater / scarf / glasses / etc. Apparently I looked too gay in one scarf. One of my friends imagined me as a woman... and was a bit disturbed. Apparently, they were disturbed at how GOOD I'd look as a woman. I tend to be very emotional and over the top, as well. I've been {{Mistaken for Gay}} so much. However, despite all these mannerisms, I am straight, male, and into women. People are going to be very surprised once I get a girlfriend.
