This female troper is a Computer Science major, so this happens a lot in her classes, and sometimes in her friend groups. She also has a male friend who is in a mid-level ballet class and is one of two guys in the class (also the only straight male).

This is the reason why This Troper was first invited to her current WoW guild. Luckily, more females have joined since then.

This Troper was taught to play D&D by her then boyfriend and his all male group. There apparently were other girls who came in the past, she's just the only one who was willing to become a permanent part of the group. Other girls did come later on, but not as regularly.

This female troper was the only girl at her lunch table her last two years of high school, which actually tended to resemble a FiveManBand at times. One other girl also tried to sit at the table, but everyone thought she was annoying and didn't like having her sit there, as she was also a real-life example of a StalkerWithACrush regarding one of this troper's closest guy friends. I actually enjoyed being the token girl due to the fact that the guys shared my interests more than my female friends and I've always been a super tomboy. Now that I'm in college and surrounded entirely by estrogen, I actually MISS being the Token Girl.

Soooooo this troper, the TokenLesbian in a Five Homosexual Clique. Subverted in that I'm definitely TheLancer (or maybe the TheSmart guy...a friend and I share that role in different ways) and one of the guys is most assuredly TheChick.

This Troper, from grades one through six. I've, obviously, gotten several girl friends since then.

For a while this was me, in something of a Four Man Band. (One guy was both TheLancer and TheBigGuy.) Then we got another girl, but that didn't work out well.

Played straight for the longest time, when there was only one girl in the weekend art class I take. Eventually we got more females. However, in other social groups, this is often completely reversed, and I end up being TheOneGuy

Inverted with this male troper: I have more female friends than male overall (not that that says much: I don't have a huge number of friends). However, I tend to speak to the male ones more, if only because I don't have a female best friend. The worrying thing is that I'm not trying to do that, it just seems to happen. Being asexual can make this a little bit like torture, as I know that a few of them might be interested in me in the romantic way, but I wouldn't be able to return the feelings very well (lack of dating experience and not very good at picking up hints make for a pretty poor boyfriend, I'm sure).

Also Inverted in this Troper's art class, There are 16 girls (including me) and one guy. For the record his is one of the best painters in the class.

Seems to happen to this troper far too often. Pretty much her only friend for the entire of primary school was male (after her first best friend left after only a year), and once in high school was the only girl in a close group of 5 boys/larger group of up to 15 boys. The one time another girl entered the group, there were...issues. After taking physics and electronics for A-level is now either the only girl or one of two or three in most of her classes. Spanish class is, however, an inversion, being entirely female.

This appears to be quite the tragedy in this troper's nerd herd. While there are three girls, one is dating one of the members and appears to have always dated him, one (this troper) is not entirely interested in the male gender, and one available female. Thus, most of the group (including this troper's desperately infatuated best friend)has a crush on her.

This troper was the only girl on a forum she used to frequent (it was a small splinter group and there were about ten of us). At school, she would be considered the only female geek if she hung out with them (she doesn't, as the only thing that makes us geeky is that we're not jocks - other than that, we have completely different interests).

Once at school when I was going somewhere and was the only boy in the group, after they explained to a teacher what they were doing, I said: "And I'm the Token Male!"

My core group of friends always has only one girl. It's a changing role that's lasted for at least 3 years.

This Troper's core friend group is woefully this. The main group is 4 guys and 1 girl, who are all liked and treated equally. We attempted to even out the numbers by including one of the guys' girlfriend in our outings, but she doesn't seem to like us and after several attempts we're going off her too. We'll welcome anybody who wants to be there and, in the girlfriend's case, those who don't, initially, but we do not have infinite patience if we're trying hard to include somebody who isn't giving us a chance.

This troper is the only girl in her construction class. One of the guys walked up to her and asked if she felt a bit out of place. I've got to say it feels a bit odd.

I used to be the only girl at a forum I go to. Later, another girl joined, so this wasn't the case anymore, but I've lately "taken my place back" by being the only girl in the moderating team.

I (the 3rdpoliceman) try to avoid this in the books I write, because, having to go to an all-boys' school, I don't take girls for granted. It is true there's less female characters than male in my books, but to be fair I find it easier to write males just in case the females I write seem unrealistic. I also try to make them strong (and weird, like many of my characters) characters, but don't try to do the real women never wear dresses thing. Why wouldn't boys want to be around girls all the time anyway? I think they're great.

This tropette actually likes her guy friends better than her girl friends most of the time. Less drama, more PVC pipe light saber figts.
