This troper once role-played as Sabby, a character in the once-huge but sadly now dead RP Tiger Girl. She had purple eyes as a result of being a HalfHumanHybrid. Well, sort of. She was a hybrid, but neither of the species involved was human. The two sides of her heritage were Morpher (Animalistic nature spirits, supposedly the good side but debatable in this series) and Garthlack (Originally manifestations of human thought, corrupted into living nightmares). Since the two species had been in a nigh-constant bloody war, she was a bit insane from the contradiction. The eyes in question came from the Garthlack side. All members of that species had similar eyes, due to their superior night vision.

This troper was disappointed the day she found out her biology lab partner did not have real purple eyes, only colored contacts.

When pressed further, the girl claimed that the contacts merely enhanced the natural purple color of her eyes. imagine the surpirse of everyone when she appeared in class with warm hazel eyes instead. she'd forgotten her contacts. delusional much?

There is a girl in this troper's gym class that has purple contacts. I always forget that they are contacts too.

In sunlight they were pale blue, but under fluorescent lights they turned purple. This is probably true of most people who appear to have purple eyes, since pale colors get distorted under fluorescents.
