I was never a hardcore fan, but I have enjoyed {{Switchfoot}} since their ChristianRock days. When they became popular with the mainstream, I wasn't upset at all, I was excited that something I liked reached a larger audience.

I'm just old enough to remember the Pokemon craze in the USA, as well as the predictably idiotic accusations that got flung at it by 'concerned parents' and so-called 'community leaders'. The craze has ended, the lace-panty Puritans have slunk back into their caves, and Pokemon fans are met with "umm...ok."

Today I acctually saw BUILD-A-BEAR STAR WARS OUTFITS, now I can never take it seriously again.

This troper knows a few Linux nerd that get pissed off at Ubuntu, claiming that "it is bringing too many n00bs into Linux", "those n00bs will never develop any free software", "Linux is being made too dumb" etc... As much as I am a Linux geek, I'm rather satisfied that the "Linux for human beings" idea is working.

I'm waiting patiently for Converse shoes to go back out of style...

When this troper was in his early high school years, he was very much into the musical ''LittleShopOfHorrors''. Liking it was definitely something people frowned on around me. Then my junior year, our school's DramaClub did a production of ''Little Shop'' as the school musical. The show was a massive success, then the entire school was flat-out obsessed with ''Little Shop''. At least once a day for over a year, you heard something about ''Little Shop'', be it someone parading down the hallways singing about living on Skid Row, someone shouting "Feed me, Seymour!", it was ridiculous. It got so bad that people refused to come to the Drama Club's two productions the next school year (''Seussical'' and ''OnceUponAMattress'') because the student body kept unfairly comparing the two shows to ''Little Shop'' without even seeing a performance of either show. So nowadays, the film of ''Little Shop'' ranks high on my list of most overrated movies and I think the musical is probably the most overrated musical of all-time as a result of my school's insane obsessions. I love AlanMenken, don't get me wrong, but it just got out of control.

This troper's friend did this with TraumaCenter. At some point between Under the Knife 2 and Trauma Team, there was a sudden increase in fans in the DeviantART community. Said friend suddenly decided to quit on the fandom and the game in its entirety and only played games that no one had ever heard of, like SinAndPunishment. This friend still refuses to associate herself with the Trauma Center fandom to this day. And this happened over a year ago. The same friend did this with {{Homestuck}} about halfway through Act 5 when she found out that she wasn't ''that'' much of a hipster, and that (gasp!) ''other people like Homestuck too!''
