I'm glad I'm not the only one; I remember one time when I was in Junior High, all my friends were talking about the girls they liked, and most of them picked the ones with "the hottest bodies"; I for one, I usually liked (well, I still like) more normal looking girls (maybe even skinier or chubbier than the "ideal" of femmenine beauty). I've always wondered about this. What is it about breasts and butts that would make them so attractive to us? Is it simply because of society telling us that it's attractive? Is it because of some natural inborn evolutionary desire for women with large breasts for lactation? Is it a freudian excuse, leftover from a babies desire to breast feed?

If you went with the "society telling us" explanation, one should ask where society got the idea in the first place. I would chalk it up to the evolutionary explanation myself. EDIT: As for the "faces" thing, I would find that though I consider big boobs a turn-on, a pretty face is more likely to make me actually have a crush. And even that's only as far as appearance goes...

That's pretty universal (75%) for long-term mate selection in males. For men, bodies are more important for short-term relationships, faces for long-term. Of course bodies have more potential for change than faces (there's only so much make-up you can put on), so bodies are where the marketing emphasis is going to be.

Said troper doesn't get it, as the only things that actually seem attractive are the naturally MulticoloredHair and (apart from a millimeter-too-long front tooth which almost never shows anyway and occasionally lazy eyelid) decent facial symmetry.

This troper is constantly being told by everyone and the cats mother that he isn't as ugly as he thinks he is, and a lot go as far as to say 'good looking' or 'pretty', but this has never translated into the real world or manifested itself in his lovelife. This of course could just be due to constant SelfDepreciation, to the extent where he purposely trolls some of his freinds because it always gets an entertaining reaction.

For me she's mostly fine--it's just that her lips are ''way too huge'', and yet everyone lavishes attention on how "sexy and pouty" they are. There are also annoying amounts of closeups on her eyes--which are pretty, sure, but Angelina's face has the emotional range of a brick.

To me, she's moderately attractive, but not the goddess everyone seems to think she is.

Really beautiful. As in, to the point that the DM either jokingly or to be serious, forced all the other players to save every. Single. Turn to find out just how "blown away/stunned/amazed" at the female's beauty they were. Even if she was dead. Rolling a poor result in turn had them stunned for the rest of the round. Somehow, said SquishyWizard father always managed to ignore this unlike everyone else, leaving him to take on demons and such alone. And still never died.

Lucy Liu is this to Asians. Asians' idea of beauty falls into more innocent look with large eyes. Lucy would be considered average or even unattractive in China since for some people she looks "manly".

This troper doesn't really have conventional ideas of beauty. He doesn't find blond girls with tanned skin and gigantic...um... thingies to be that attractive. He prefers slender, ElegantGothicLolita girls with long dark hair and alabaster (a posh word for pale I learned from ''{{Cheers}}'' ) complexions. I love StrangeGirls, especially ones that seem connected to nature. But also, I believe that a good heart and a nice personality can make a person much more attractive than someone who is petty and mean and nasty. A girl with warm hands, a nice smile (but she doesn't have to smile that much if she doesn't want to; I myself am shy about smiling) and who tries her best to show kindness to all living creatures is WAY prettier than one who lies, hurts and causes pain.
