Troper ungulateman had a buggy copy of ''{{Kirby}}: Nightmare in Dream Land'' which froze whenever he fought Fire Lion. Beating him very very quickly worked the first time, but the BossRush level in the seventh world foiled that plan. It also screwed up the colors and made the door into level 1-2 almost impossible to get back out of.

This troper, whom yet to have an account, had a problem with ''{{MySims}} Kingdom'' during Vic's requests. What happened was Vic got stuck on a machine and just stood there when the reward was ready to be reaped. He would just stand there and do nothing while my Sim could not speak to him as this would trigger the "I cant access this!" mood bubble. This probably has no fix and I will have to restart the game.
#53530
UPDATE: It turns out that later the game magically fixed itself after my other character's playthrough
#53531
My former best friend and I learned the hard way that you should not try to mess with your games unless you really know what you're doing. In the course of a few hours, we screwed up two Pokemon games beyond repair. An Eevee in his Crystal version was turned into some... thing that froze the game any time its name was shown. Meanwhile, every single wild Pokemon in my [=FireRed=] version was turned into a Missingno, a key item I knew I had disappeared for good, and in general everything went to hell. Even after starting a new save file, the game still freezes occasionally for a couple seconds at a time.
#53532
Now you see why I don't try and exploit glitches. Though I have nothing against reaping the rewards from other glitches that people perform. Does that make me a hypocrite?
#53533
That's how I wound up breaking both Ruby and Sapphire. They would crash whenever I looked up the bag.
#53534
The Elder Scrolls, hehe, where do we begin...
#53535
Especially Oblivion, the game is filled with these, ranging from annoying clipping to not being able to escape from a cut scene and to accidentally receiving a bounty that could never be cleared.
#53536
Oblivion is not the worst offender. Daggerfall has by FAR the worst glitches in the franchise; check out the amount of entries talking about them. The game even has the trope Obvious Beta listed.
#53537
For example, ''The auto-dungeon generator in Daggerfall was so buggy that Bethestha finally just threw up their hands and released a patch that turned on the debugging shortcuts— so affected players could teleport around dungeons and avoid falling into the numerous bottomless pits.''
#53538
''Resulting in some unbeatable quests (including, prior to the first patch, the story), frequent opportunities to fall through floors and fly around in the Void, and some very confused monsters.''
#53539
This troper has downloaded the Morrowind patch. Unfortunately, this results in some items being undisplayable, so they show up as GIANT yellow diamonds with white exclamation marks on them. The Dark Brotherhood turn into huge jagged monstrosities.
#53540
This troper was fond of abusing the "save, quit, and reload for full HP/MP" feature in {{Lunar}} Legend, but was unaware of the item duplication/overwrite bug (sections 11 & 12 in this FAQ). He discovered it accidentally after losing some items he worked ''very hard'' to acquire in the Phoenix Cave. Having not read that FAQ or heard of this bug elsewhere, ThisTroper assumed this was not a programming error, but a problem with the particular cartridge he had bought used (the case was falling apart and was held together with scotch tape). Cue frustration when ThisTroper bought another copy of the game and experienced the exact same thing.
#53541
This troper was playing [=ADOM=] on a Terminal window, while using a tiling window manager. Something opened a new window up on my current desktop, which caused the Terminal window to resize and break the game.
#53542
This troper found one in the early stages of a game he was making with RPG Maker. At one point in the game, there is a pathway that your character is agile enough to jump to, but your heavily armored teammates are not. You can choose to take the longer path with them, or the slower path alone. Unfortunately, he forgot to program in the team reuniting at the end. They get split up not long after, so that's not that bad... But there's a short cutscene where you and the rest of your team confront a villain, have a dramatic moment, and then fight him together. Because of this flaw, the team show up for the cutscene out of nowhere, and then are not present in the fight. This fight is completely impossible alone. It's been fixed now, but when a friend playtested it, it was quite embarrissing.
#53543
This troper had a broken copy of the "{{Rugrats}} Adventure Game". Whenever the game was saved, quit, and re-opened, the babies would be locked in the playpen, with all of Tommy's inventory gone, and the screwdriver hidden in the Kangaroo's pouch gone. Thus, Tommy could not open the playpen gate, and the game would be rendered {{unwinnable}}.
#53544
This troper encountered a fatal glitch in the Lud's Gate level of ''TombRaider III''. If I saved at the wrong time in the area with the water trench, the underwater switches, and last two secrets, one of the doors would get blocked by an invisible barrier, making the level {{unwinnable}}.
#53545
''{{Driver}} 2'' had a major Glitch Gremlin infestation, such as certain buildings failing to draw in in Las Vegas, leaving BottomlessPits in their place.
#53546
This Troper once experienced an absolutely ''infuriating'' glitch in ''ShadowOfTheColossus''. In one of his later playthroughs, upon reaching Avian, a horrible, unspeakable glitch plagued him. Throughout the fight, for no apparent reason, the game treated all moments of being on Avian's body as Avian being at slipstream speeds. This made the boss nigh-{{Unwinnable}}. Luckily, this troper's sheer skill at fancy-pants acrobatics in the game eventually allowed him to triumph over the glitching motherfucker. This glitch has never reared its ugly head again yet.
#53547
I've had this before in... MySims and AvatarTheLastAirbender (the first one) for the {{Gamecube}}.
#53548
In MySims, I was trying to move Raven to another lot so that I could put Dr. F's lab there. So Raven came out of her house to tell me that she was going to wait for me to find her a new lot, but she just kept running into her mailbox, vanishing, then coming out of her house again, vanishing, lather, rinse, repeat. I left the game running while I did math homework, and it just kept doing it, but fortunately, I could save while all this was going on.
#53549
In Avatar, the game started running really slowly for no particular reason, and it had never done that before. (I was also playing it on my Wii, but I don't think that makes a difference.) It lagged to the point where it had to stop and show a little box that said it was loading. Then when it went away, the overworld beyond my TV screen didn't load correctly, and Sokka and Aang ended up falling into a black void and disappearing while the game did nothing. I sold the game to Gamestop.
#53550
Not totally game-breaking, but this troper has recieved visits from the Game Graphic Glitch Gremlin while playing Raiden Project on the PSX. Sometimes when it loads the next level, the graphics come out scrambled, like a dirty NES game.
#53551
My sister was playing {{Bratz}}: Rock Angelz for the PS2 once. You can use rollerskates in this game to get around, which my sister was doing, as she ascended some stairs. Suddenly, she cried out. I went to see the TV, and it was totally grey. As it turned out, her character had ''sunk'' through the stairs and into them, with no escape, basically rendering the game useless until reset.
#53552
This troper's copy of Final Fantasy VII mysteriously crashes in the cutscene where Cloud and co. are letting Aeris/Aerith sink into the water. Every. Single. Time.
#53553
My copy of Fable 3 has completely glitched out to the point where I can't even finish the game. At one point you have to try and stop a robbery and (I think) kill all the enemies except for one. The problem is, none of the other enemies spawn, and the one that does can't NOT DIE. My character always kills him in one hit. What's worse is that when he dies, nothing happens. No events go off, and I can't even leave the building. I don't even know if this is file-specific or not.
#53554
You can't beat my one, i dunno anyone who this has happened to. somehow i managed to fall through the floor of reavers mansion while fighting the balverines and can't get out. i'm watching the woman who's with me fighting them above me but can't get back up. I thought i'd just wait for her to kill them all but no such look, i have to do that. It's weird, the furniture and characters are above me but the black 'shape' of the building, what i'm standing on complete with redish orange 'sky' around me, is directly below it. i can look up at everthing because the floors gone transparent. and if i run to the edge of it (theres not a lot of black walls in my new prison) and over i continuously fall into oblivion except i stop in a falling postion and just hang there. i wish there was a end quest button like fable 2, i used that when i accidentally got locked in a room in a glitch with that game. i thought that one was bad cause i had to forgo the quest i was doing and start over a couple of quests back, now though with 3 i have to start from the begining. I got sooooo annoyed.
#53555
This troper has suffered more grief from FalloutNewVegas than anyone else he knows. Almost every file he's created has suffered from a bug that causes vendors to never restock, thus locking him out of the game's best weapons and making ammo hard to come by. Strangely, it's only ever happened to him.
#53556
I don't know how this happened and hope it never does again: During my first Triple Battle in Pokémon Black and White, I would up with two pokémon fainting in the same round, with the last two left to replace them. The game did not identify that one of them (Sigilyph) was fit to battle, despite being at full strength. Nor did it treat said pokémon as fainted. This meant that I was essentially stuck on the Use Next Pokémon screen until I gave up and turned off the DS.
#53557
This troper had a nasty bug in Portal for the PC. I got to the point where you had to throw GLaDOS' cores in the incinerator when all of a sudden GLaDOS said the same thing she says at the very start of the game and I could not move eventually I reset the game to find my save file just started me in the final boss area with everything replaced with a big ERROR!
#53558
This troper's copy of Legend of Dragoon will stop after the the battle against the water dragoon. 1st time i went through the game, i had to do the battle 3 times, while on my 2nd play through, the game will always freeze.
#53559
In my first playthrough of ''ModernWarfare 2'', at about the halfway point of the level "Contingency", I called in the UAV as I was told, it was shot down by a SAM site in the village as scripted, and then everybody just sort of stopped reacting to the plot. Ghost didn't say anything to me or my teammate when he showed up, and the enemies in the base up ahead didn't spawn. I eventually fixed it by knifing one of my allies repeatedly to restart that portion, and ever since then I've always made sure to fire at that SAM before it can take down the UAV.
#53560
This troper's first copy of AnimalCrossing: Wild World worked perfectly fine for a couple years. Suddenly, for no apparent reason (that we can prove anyway), it just ''broke''. Walking around on the map? FREEZE. Talking to one of the townspeople? FREEZE. It was rendered so unplayable that she eventually just gave up on it.
