FullNameBasis

There are 4 Laurens in one of my classes. I call them all "Lauren *insert last name here*"
#51673
My drama teacher used to be the tech director. We called him Seth then. Now he's Mr. Cohen. SO DIFFICULT TO CHANGE. I find myself calling him "Seth Cohen".
#51674
I actually have a few friends who are often referred to by their full names, though I don't really know why this is.
#51675
It's probably because some people have names that are just really dang fun to say. I know exactly one person who is frequently referred to by her full name, because it just is the sort of name you can't waste by not saying it in full.
#51676
Truth in Television for this troper. For some odd reason people just love calling her "Sara Brewer" (or butchering her name into "Sara Brew") instead of just "Sara".
#51677
Truth in Television here also, although not personally. This troper went to school with one person who was always John Minor, and knows a girl whose full name is so freaking adorable, EVERYONE calls her by it. Even her parents.
#51678
This troper also went to school with a Johnny (never John) Minor, who was also always referred to by the full name.
#51679
This troper has this trope somewhat applied to her. Much to her consistent annoyance, people in her school call her "Emmy Vaughan" (Please read in the most obnoxious accent you can think of) instead of "Emily Vaughan".
#51680
This troper purposely used FirstNameBasis with a kid from highschool after noticing that everybody used FullNameBasis with him.
#51681
This troper sometimes refers to people he respects with their full name. How often he does it depends on the person. The ones he does it most often are some of his professors (the rest he refers by last name) and the girl he's in love with. Sometimes he refers his friends like this, altho usually only when introducing them to other people.
#51682
This troper and our friends consistently refer to our other friend as Cameronberry. or GodBerry (Don't ask).
#51684
This troper went to high school with a class that had
10+ Laurens and Stephanies, respectively. Either LastNameBasis or this trope were invoked to tell them apart. Then there's the people whose names, while comparatively unique, were never uttered without their surname. (This troper still has them listed first and last name in her phone, despite knowing only one person with said name). Not to mention the three Kevins that were in the marching band, who either invoked this trope or were referred to as 24-Kevin,
Double-O Kevin, and
Kevin 11.
#51685
To this troper, FullNameBasis ''must'' be invoked for any and all people with
alliterative names.
#51686
This Troper's name is James Brown. He is referred to as such, and is obligated to follow up with a performance of 'I feel good'.
EVERY. TIME.
#51687
This troper has known two different gentlemen who were always referred to by full name and full name only, for no particular reason. You couldn't just call them Jon or Jesus or call them by nicknames. Nope.
#51688
This troper does this whenever he's talking about somebody not involved in the conversation, even if confusion regarding the subject is impossible.
#51689
This troper got the habit of learning people's full names (which sometimes shocks classmates) because of a teacher of his who called anyone by the complete name. And frequently he's seen people known by "name + surname" to distinguish when it's a PlanetOfSteves.
#51690
This troper gets this a lot. Due to her all-girl school having a ''huge'' number of students named Bea, with at least five in her very grade level alone. Unfortunately, she is also one of the less popular girls, and is thus ''always'' referred to by her full name...even by the teachers.
#51691
Happens to this Troper frequently, if not, always, much to my dismay. It doesn't help that both my first and last names are very short, and I'm one of the very few people in my school with the name "Tom".
#51692
This troper remembers a friend with the name of Roosevelt Jackson III. Now say it like you're introducing a pro wrestler or a celebrity. The same way it was read when he was introduced to a group. He stood up and waved. We eventually stopped calling him by his full name and just called him RJ3.
#51693
The majority of this troper's high school averts this trope, instead relying on first names only and nicknames. Although, this troper and a good friend of mine definitely play this straight. The easiest way for anybody to tell if there's something wrong with either of us or if we're pissed or etc., is when we stop calling the other by our first and last names and say just the first name. The strange thing is that it's not even intentional and neither one of us can even remember why we started doing it.
#51694
This troper doesn't engage in it much herself, but many of her classmates refer to themselves, friends, and siblings by their full names, although it is easier to recall "Sam Webb" than wondering who "Sam" is in relation to the speaker.
#51695
This Troper often does this with most of the people he knows, Notably his work colleague Jake, who is always loudly addressed as
JAKE MAIDEN!
#51696
This Troper's first name is El, and so everyone in my Spanish class thought it was hilarious to refer to me by my full name. By contrast, my Mandarin teacher refers to me on a LastNameBasis because saying my name in the middle of an otherwise Mandarin sentence apparently throws her off too much. However, the nickname lives on in my annoying siblings.
#51697
That probly gets you a lot of fangirls.
#51698
In college, this troper knew a guy named Michael Berry. Everyone called him Michael Berry. No one called him Michael. There were maybe 1 or 2 people who could get away with calling him Mike, but it always sounded strange.
#51699
There's a kid at this troper's school named John Reese. Nobody calls him just John. Everyone just calls him John Reese.
#51700
This troper has alot of this, and LastNameBasis. There are two Jons I know, and I usually refer to both just by their last names (unless I'm talking to their siblings). One of the Jons has a brother named Matt. There are many Matts. I normally give them FullNameBasis treatment. I only know one person named Ethan, but me, and some other people usually refer to him by his full name, or his nickname. (But the nickname is mostly just us crew/drama kids). I know only one Tyler. I think the number of people who refer to him by his first name and those who call him by his full name are half and half. I have a hard time thinking of him as anything other than his full name. People rarely refer to me with FullNameBasis. I'm normally referred to by my first name, or one of my nicknames. A couple people I know call me by my facebook name, but I gave myself a different last name for facebook. If people don't know better, it sounds like a full name.

The majority of this troper's high school are called by their full names. If not by everyone, then by at least one person.
