CrazyCatLady

Oh boy, here we go.
#27573
This troper and her family have six Pet cats, the annointed few. All of which had been taken from the feral cat colony growing in our backyard. Three of which are kittens who are not allowed outside untill they have been spayed, which should happen within the next month. As for the OUTDOOR, mostly feral cats, there's eight of them. My sister takes care of them and now they refuse to leave. We've managed to finally get all the females spayed through the local pound's catch and release program, so there shouldnt be any more little suprises anytime soon. Were working on getting the males now. On the one hand, me and my mother don't want all these cats hanging around our house and killing birds and things, while on the other hand neither of us can stand to take them to the pound to be killed or let them starve, especially since a few of the ferals have calmed down enough to the point that they will actually let people pet them and come to the door when we call out its time to eat.
#27574
So yes, we are the designated crazy cat people on the block.
#27575
Maybe you could give them to a shelter? If you were able to catch them, with some work, you should be able to bring them to the shelters where they will get spayed and taught to interact with humans.
#27576
This trouper is unfortunate enough to have one as a left-side neighbor, only with her, it's dogs. At last count the total was 12! Lucky us who have to listen to all of them barking in the middle of the night! Luckily our fence blocks the smell.
#27577
This troper's grandmother once kept up to 35 cats in and around her trailer home. She still had room for four kids.
#27578
One of this troper's university tutors is, ah, a ''little'' bit crazy, and loves using her cats in examples.
#27579
This troper rewrote the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale to include Crazy Cat Fairy, who gives the child the "gift" of avoiding teenage angst-by dying (the spinning wheel), then adds "Also, a cat!" Throws cat at cradle and vanishes in a billow of smoke.
#27580
I ''must'' read this.
#27581
Same here
#27582
This troper and her friends have founded the unofficial Future Crazy Cat Ladies of America club, open to any female over fourteen who has never had a boyfriend. There are about ten members.
#27583
1) is it open to those of us across the pond and 2) where do I sign up?
#27584
This troper's neighbour is an 80-year-old woman who has eight cats (one of them is blind and another one only has 3 legs), plus street cats who go to her house to steal food. She also keeps shabby porcelain dolls on her front yard, uses old toilet bowls as vases for her plants and has signs ranging from "Perpetrators will be shot" to "Want to lose weight? Ask me how!" hung on her door. One of this troper's best friends also says she'll grow up to become a Crazy Cat Lady, because of her fondness for cats, old-fashioned habits and a tendency to have anyone she gets involved with leave her as soon as they can.
#27585
In this troper's hometown there's a homeless man always seen with at least three dogs with leashes.
#27586
I consider myself a Crazy Cat Lady despite owning only one cat and being, at worst, a high-functioning Aspie. 'Cause the thing is, if you give me an opening, I'll start telling you ''stories'' about my cat. Her name is Sekhmet. She's very friendly. She plays this cute little game where she pretends there are goblins hiding under the blanket on my bed and it's up to her to kill them all. See what you did? I'll never shut up now.
#27587
Almost exactly the same for me. The only differences are: The cat in question is named Puckles, and my obsession with my cat has extended to ''joining her on gecko hunting trips.'' (We caught one thiiiiiiiiiiiiis big, it was the best Christmas ever.) Also, I pride myself on knowing cat language - body and voice - yet I still don't understand humans all that well.
#27588
This troper used to be just the same, but realised it was partially due to loneliness when she stopped doing it in public after she found a group of friends. She doesn't have a good relationship with her family, so she's still a total CrazyCatLady at home.
#27589
This troper thinks that Sekhmet is one of the best. cat. names. ever.
#27590
Da_Nuke knows a woman in her mid-thirties who has ''7 dogs and 5 cats''. Mind you, though: she lives by herself in a ''huge'' house, and has more than enough time to keep them all clean, fed and groomed.
#27591
@/JChance's last girlfriend got up to six cats while they were living together in a two-room apartment...then they subsequently moved into a house with various other people who had four cats and five dogs between them. He is now very happy to live with only one cat, one dog, and one roommate.
#27592
Update: Different roommate with his own cat, dog is living with old roommate, his fiancee, and three cats.
#27593
This troper's aunt would be described as one. However, she's immensely sweet and gives awesome (though sometimes obscure... this troper got the Kalevala one year) Christmas and birthday presents, and being a fellow animal-loving eccentric (though determined to keep herself to two pets), this troper is very, very fond of her.
#27594
It appears that a CrazyCatLady somewhere near this troper relinquished her 'pride', and established each of her cats in a different neighborhood. One such female took up residence in the basement of our Victorian apartment complex, earning herself new caretakers despite the landlady's objections. The cat lady drives by occasionally to ensure her former roommates are well.
#27595
Back in this troper's home town, there was this big house that he walked by everyday while running. There were always a dozen cats or so lounging outside - and they weren't always the same cats. And this house was just down the street from the old lady who had six large dogs.
#27596
This 20-year-old troper aspires to be the world's youngest crazy cat lady. All she needs to do is get her own house, away from her cat-hating father.
#27597
This 22-year-old troper is another young and catless Crazy Cat Lady, due to college-approved housing's regulations against pets. But give her an opening and she will tell you all about her family's cats on the other side of the country, their funniest stories, and their individual quirks. She plans to either steal "her" cat from home or get a kitten as soon as she moves into a more cat-friendly apartment.
#27598
This troper's grandmother. She isn't crazy per se, but has at least a dozen cats. Thankfully they stay outside.
#27599
This troper drives everyone in her family crazy by constantly telling them to "LOOKATHOWCUTETHEKITTYISBEINGLOOKHOWCUTELOOKLOOKLOOK!" In fairness, her kitties, especially the Maine Coon, tend to sleep in very amusing positions, but that does not make this troper any less of a Crazy Cat Adolescent Girl. She has gone so far as to give her favorite roleplaying character a carbon copy of one of her real-life cats, and plans to own six cats when she grows up, four of which she has already named. (Awesomeness, Magnificence, Gompers, and Deathfang, Eater of Souls.)
#27600
In a town near mine, specifically Chester, NJ, a woman kept '''105''' cats in her mansion. When the animal rights people got there the place was a mess, feline excrement every where. They managed to get all of them to a shelter, but then, guess what? The female cats all gave birth. You know how many cats that makes? A whole sh-tload of cats. The lady is actually still fighting courts to get the cats back, even the kittens. She at least wants to see them in the shelter, but the won't let her, because, for all they know, she'll run off with some of them.
#27601
Although, without her, my family wouldn't have gotten a new kitten. We named it Domino.(We joked about naming it "Hitler" or "Fuhrer" because of it's black fur and white fur meeting at the nose, and a black skin coloring at the bottom of it's nose and it's upper lip.)
#27602
When this troper was young, her goal in life was to grow up, move to Montana, and have a farm with 500 cats on it. That is, until she realized how expensive it would be... Surprisingly, now she doesn't want any pets...
#27603
This troper's grandparents take in stray cats quite often. They don't have as many as they used to at 14. At one point, they had 20 cats. The difference is that this troper's family on his father's side tends to be a bunch of cloudcuckoolander instead of actually crazy.
#27604
This troper once volunteered to work in an old lady's home cattery/shop business. Taking care of the penned cats outside was no bother at all. But, the lady kept several pet cats indoors, never letting them out. The sheer amount of litter boxes could not have gone unnoticed by customers, not to mention the fur covering everything. The place was very unhygienic; this troper even found decaying cat food in the kitchen near the dishes, making her wonder why the lady even bothered giving out rigid hygiene rules.
#27605
This Troper's boyfriend is convinced that they're going to grow up to be a crazy cat ''couple'': she adores cats and frequently says hello to the neighbouring cats. She's been banned from ever visiting Cairo thanks to a program about cats (both big and small).
#27606
This troper has been called a young cat lady by her friend only because she has 7 cats in the house. I also have 3 dogs and 2 cats in said house. Though I can tell you that I'm not crazy.
#27607
It's not my ambition per se, but that's how this troper is going to end up. I can already tell.
#27608
This troper's old German teacher had a habit of putting his cats in the fridge. ItMakesSenseInContext - if you're fairly drunk and willing to overlook Fridge Logic.
#27609
I has... I think she is a aunt (or great-aunt), when I first met her, she was taking care of 26 cats, but only 4 actually lived in her house (2 are just kittens, one din't had a leg).
#27610
This troper's aunt has 17 cats.
#27611
This cat loving troper just knows this will happen to her and has embraced her destiny completely.
#27612
This troper's uncle and his great dane were a Crazy Cat Man and Dog combo. In his late years the dane started bringing home kittens which the uncle accepted. At about that time the uncle was distancing himself from his family. The collection didn't grow much though - he only accumulated 3 adopted and about 3 unofficial stray ones before he shot himself.
#27613
This troper knows a crazy cat ''man'' who takes in every stray cat he finds. I think he had about 25-30 last I asked.
#27614
this troper is obsessed with cats.her sister says she'll end up like this when shes 30.
#27615
This Troper knew a woman who had 14 cats. She asked my uncle to look after them while she was on holiday. The house was a mess with cat poo everywhere and every surface was covered in cat hair. How do people live like this??? My best friend wants to become a crazy cat man, he loves animals, and I am the only person he talks to, but on seeing a cat hes like "AWWWWW CUTE LITTLE KITTY!!!!!!!"
#27616
This Troper's mom.
#27617
This Editor's grandmother. Full stop. He used to play with them when he was younger.
#27618
This troper's mother went through a crazy cat lady phase, despite the fact that my sister is allergic to cats.
#27619
My mother's senile aunt was a hoarder. She had over 30 cats living in her home when she was finally placed in a nursing home. I don't know how many dead cats were hidden among the mounds of garbage she had hoarded. All of the remaining cats were feral, diseased, and cannibalistic. Everyone was afraid to go near them. When my father and uncle cleaned the house before it was sold, they took garbage bags, miscellaneous cleaning supplies, handguns, extra ammo, and a shovel.
#27620
My friend is a Crazy TARANTULA Lady! She has 30 of them
#27621
@/RainbowPoof thinks she may be on the way to becoming one someday, and will try and avoid situations that will cause me to be charmed by a cute kitty if I've already got one.
#27622
(Same troper as above) I've also got a neighbor who fits the trope, but she's very nice (though we don't see her often). She lets several stray cats stay at her house, and they come over to mine and visit me. :D I love the kitties, but my mom thinks they're annoying..
#27623
I consider myself to be a crazy cat lady; I have 6 cats, several pairs of cat ears and tails which I wear often, I bore people stupid with my talk of cats and I consider my cat family to be a preferable variation to human children. Naturally this has led to many jokes about my future cat horde.
#27624
This is the fate that my family has declared for me because I don't want kids and am ambivalent about romantic relationships. In reality, I'd love to have a cat but two would be my limit.
#27625
...Katie?
#27626
This troper has a feral colony living under her house, each of which is named. Sparda, Eva (The main "parents"), Dante (a big ginger tabby) Vergil (a slightly smaller silver tabby) Kyrie (a little whiny tortoiseshell) and Merlin.
#27627
This troper knows a crazy cat lady: His dad's friend's wife which he witnessed for himself during a visit to said friend's house.
#27628
One of this tropers friends ''aspires'' to be a {{Crazy Cat Lady}}. I'm not sure why. (She has two at the minute.)
#27629
My aunt, who absolutely tortures my poor cousins and uncle, has four cats at the moment, and one dog (who is actually my cousin's). She has named the cats including the surname of her husband (ie my uncle), making them in effect children, and siblings to my cousins. Counting those that are deceased, this aunt has had at least 10 cats in her lifetime.
#27630
Should I ever have the chance, I will be a Crazy SNAKE Lady. CORNSNAKES FOR THE WIIIIIN. Also mebbe a gecko. And two Siamese. And a Big Friendly Dog. And maybe three kids not sure whether that'll be working out or not.
#27631
This troper will be surprised if she doesn't become this someday. My cats are like my children. I've never had more than two in the house, and I don't think I want to have more than three or four, but I've had up to maybe 12 outdoors at some point. So, If you count the many litters of kittens and the ones that have disappeared or deceased, I've had up to approximately 30-40 cats in my lifetime! I live on a farm, so it's not really all that absurd.
#27632
I'm paying a good friend to keep me from becoming a crazy dog lady. My Aspergers obsession is dogs that and my low tolerance of self control and slight mental illness is a recipe for this.
#27633
I bet I'll be a crazy cat (and/or dog, other pets) lady when I'm older. :D
#27634
A, um, friend of mine said that I was going to become this. I looked at her square in the face and said "I'm allergic to cats."
