When I took over a MUD region there were feuds between fans of the old version and mine, even though I stuck to the spirit of the original as much as possible. There was highly heated rivalry between the roleplayers and the twinks, and I admit I turned up the heat by siding with the roleplayers.

Another entire MMORPG was split between the multicharacter team and the lone warrior types, a debate I actually cultivated and I think was good for all.

In another game there were fights between fans who thought it should be more Grimmified and those who thought it should be more Disneyfied, which is pretty bizarre considering my stated intent, which any player would have to have read at least three times before participating, was to make it as Grimm as possible. As mentioned in the main article BoneThugsNHarmony fans are hopelessly split. do to different artistic tastes between the many factions of the fans. But in my personal opinion most of the in fighting is from Dissenters whom became bitter spiteful {{Fan Hater}}s cause the loyalists was still loyal and fanatical about the group. A rap group they (the dissenters) bitterly hate now because they're not making the music they wanna hear. CountDorku:

Not sure exactly where this is supposed to go, but this seems as good a place as any: Australian bushranger Ned Kelly. People see him as either a hero battling corrupt police, or a vicious murdering bastard. "People", in this case, can be taken to mean "pretty much everyone who's been in Australia for any length of time".
#17149
Can't he be both?
#17150
Like a vicious heroic bastard who murdered corrupt police? Sounds about right. Misuki:

Oh, I know so, so much that my favorite game of all time, {{Fire Emblem}} has a broken base. There are people who argue about stats, storyline, prepromotes vs. trained level 20's, the loss of personal supports from Radiant Dawn onward, etc. I'd say that the main conflict among us who like a particular strategy RPG though has to be those who play for fun, and those who play for {{Serious Business}}. Those who are casual players of FE often accuse the serious ones of being too wound up, while the 'hardcore' ones that play for ranks (FE 7) call the others 'idiots' for using . SmytheOrdo:

As mentioned on the main page, TNT's fanbase are rifted like you wouldn't believe. Anyone who likes the new singer, to the hardcore Tony Harnell fanboys, are traitors to the band and are not true fans. On the other hand, if you don't like the new singer, you are being too whiny and unwilling to accept change. The situation got so bad that the guitarist of the band, Ronni Le Tekro, went on one of the "fan" forums(of the former type mostly) and told them to "SHUT UP AND LISTEN!" to directly quote him. And the forum in question was special thanked on the first album before this little incident, and look what happens...everything is ruined between the old fans and the band because people can't stop being jerks. I'm half of one. I recently Failed At Girls, a couple of the girl in question's friends reckon I should persevere, and matters became a little more pronounced at a party. The night after, I joked to my parents that I've picked up a Team- screw Edward and Jacob. Apparently the friends had the same idea. There's a Facebook page. RayAyanami:

I'm a witness to the 3-way ''Tetris'' broken base. One part of the base is the casual crowd, which regards it as "just ''Tetris''." Then you have the ''TetrisTGM'' crowd, as well as the multiplayer crowd that plays on multiplayer clones like ''[=TetriNET=]'', ''Blockbox'', and ''Tetris Online''. The latter two parts of the fanbase used to be under one major site, but some administrative shenanigans caused the two parts to split off into separate message boards. {{Anicomicgeek}}

Not sure if this should go to the main page, but I was witness to one. I've seen a few people (mostly zealots) get up in over over which AnimatedAdaptation of {{Spider-Man}} is better: {{Spider-Man The Animated Series}} and {{The Spectacular Spider-Man}}, which can and has entered FanHater territory. Fans of one will accues the other of suffering AdaptationDecay and criticize the designs and animation of the other show, and likewise the writing. Jeroic

I'm a huge fan of TheElderScrolls, all the games I've played and the series lore. However, attempting to get in touch with other fans outside of my eleventh-grade English teacher and my buddy Jeff has been disastrous. I joined the community on the official forums in late 2003, and already there was the Morrowind and Daggerfall argument. This was before the community-wide troll Sload (who has been banned from the official sites, but not the fan-made ones, so beware), started the idea of anything that isn't esoteric and werid is basically DisContinuitied in all but name. Meaning to that camp, everything is CHIM and Vivec, and anything not supporting the idea of CHIM or does not claim Vivec is the ultimate God is not lore. Of course, there is a sizeable chunk of the fanbase (myself included) who aren't all that into Vivec or CHIM. There was a very unpleasant time, and now any thread that doesn't start as a CHIM or Vivec thread, even on the official forums, is fast derailed into one. It's gotten to the point where even attempting a lore discussion at all is completely a waste of time. WeirdRaptor

This very trope is why I rarely talk about PeterJackson. I came into the fold with his adaptations of TheLordoftheRings. Never, ever mention this to a fan who has followed his career since BadTaste. The InternetBackdraft and Law of Fan Jackassery will go into full swing in a matter of seconds with terms such as 'kid', 'child', noob', and 'idiot American Hollywood slave' (yes, I've been called this simply for liking ''any'' Peter Jackson film made after ForgottenSilver!). There's apparently a VocalMinority of his older fans who look down on anyone who came in later, and think he sold out when he made the Lord of the Rings films. Apparently, that I pretty much like all of his films just a foreign idea to them. echoballard13

I'm finding myself comparing the 10th Anniversary Cast of Les Mis with the 25th Anniversary Cast and I felt myself saying "Phillip Quast is the definitive Javert!" "Nick Jonas should NOT be Marius!" "The new Eponine can't compare to Lea Salonga." A lot of Les Mis fans are also divided. They also argue over the definitive Jean Valjean, Cosette, etc. The wonders of Broadway.
