BlackSheep
#15186
This troper has a friend whose father is the BlackSheep of his family. His father's family are all Republicans, Engineers, and highly conservative in both religion and politics. His father is a Democrat Law Professor, who divorced his first wife before meeting my friend's mother, who also already had a son. One brother is an English Major, the other is something similar. My friend is seen as the "Saving Grace" of his father's brood. He is a Mechanical Engineer, he has not yet disabused the rest of the family of this notion by discussing politics or religion around them.

This troper muses that his parents are the BlackSheep of their families. This is just a joke, as both sides of the family are close and they aren't ostracized in any way, but when the professions are pastor, religion professor, special ed teacher, and doctor (on my dad's side) and English teacher, PR guy, and office worker (on my mom's side), the fact that they are both mathematicians should come as a mild surprise. In the same vein, I muse that I am the BlackSheep of my immediate family, as both of my parents do commutative algebra, while I am enthralled with differential geometry (although I am still a freshman in college, and have about 5 more years to make up my mind).

My uncle on my mother's side. The man is horrible with money. Even got a credit card and signed it in his wife's name and has probably already maxed it out. Did I mention he buys her gifts with it? That's right he buys gifts for his wife, with a card he put in her name. Spent a time in prison for unpaid driving tickets. He and his wife live at my grandma's house after losing their house. It's a wonder what the girl sees in him. Hell my mother has to lock her purse in the trunk of the car when we visit because he is a klepto. Hell those are just some of the things I know about.

This troper's father was the Black Sheep of his family, until his father decided he wanted to be an actor and his entire family moved to Israel along with him.
#15190
This troper's parents are both black sheep, with my mother being the only person on her side who ''isn't'' emotionally manipulative and passive-aggressive, and my dad is the only person on his side who ''isn't'' a snobby asshole. It's pretty amazing that both of them saw their families, resolved to be different and got the hell away from them, and then by chance found each other.

Also, this troper's sister is a black sheep, but more of the 'criminal' and 'abusive' kind. We still love her, but she's not allowed to live with any of us again. ''Ever''.

This troper's immediate family is the black sheep of our extended family. It wasn't until my little brother was born that one of my aunts began speaking to us again. Things have gotten better from there, but they're still a bit weird. On a smaller scale, this troper is the black sheep in her family - addicted to video games, manga and heavy metal music, wishes she was male (to her mother's constant irritation) and is lesbian. She's refrained from saying anything to avoid the inevitable fallout with her extended family.
#15193
This troper's dad is the BlackSheep of everybody's families, most likely due to him being a certified SOB.
#15194
In this troper's family, on her mother's side, everyone in the two most recent generations - her mother, her aunts and uncles, her older cousins and her brother - has a degree in something solid, pragmatic and respectable (teaching, nursing, agriculture, engineering, business, that sort of thing). Hers is in philosophy and creative writing. However, she suspects the real black sheep may turn out to be her youngest cousin - he's rapidly approaching high school and shows no signs of taking it at all seriously, and may be the only one at the family reunion who ends up not going to university.

@/TheKingOfDastard's mother side of the family has the "proud" tradition of having a black sheep at least once a generation, so that there's a whole, nice flock. To date: my grandmother has a middle brother who was the unfavorite (she was oldest, another brother was youngest) and wound up dead, indirectly because of that. The previously mentioned youngest brother was spoiled rotten, broke up with a woman he had a child with, then allowed that child to get beaten, paralyzed, and mentally disabled for the rest of its life, meaning my grandmother hates him completely. It didn't help that he's a greedy little git who spent my great-grandmother's last years using her for cash.

Meanwhile, my grandfather was not liked by his father for some reason, as he was not allowed to go to school while his other children were. Worse of all, my grandfather had a twin who was more liked than he was. Both of his brothers turned out spoiled and greedy, and he doesn't talk to them.

THEN, my mother's brother wound up feuding with the rest of the family, so he got kicked out, too. This generation, it appears that my sister shall be the latest of the black sheep, being... "educationally challenged", obnoxious, rude, hateful, and altogether a nasty piece of work. If I ever drop the bomb to my dad that she's already lost her virginity, she may be made official.

This troper's father is the black sheep of his family. His Mother took depraved bisexual to crazy heights in his youth, his Father is a certified jerkass who frequently breaks promises. His oldest brother (three years younger than him) is incapable of commiting to anything and grows bored easily and his youngest brother is a drug-addict. I, however, am the black sheep of my immediate family. They're all religious and just a touch crazy while I'm a bisexual agnostic with a heck of a lot more than a touch of crazy, sometimes reaching schizophrenic levels.

I have three siblings. Let's break this down:
#15200
My sister (Who we'll call Alice) is a CrazyCatLady, Something of a
hippie, and I think
Bi.
#15201
My second oldest brother (we'll call Bob) is a mix of a (post drug related trama) eccentric nice guy, recovering drug addict, into D&D and a punk.
#15202
I'm a misanthropic,
gay, atheist with secret self-esteem issues stemming from my fear that
no one actually likes me. Bob and I are both counterculture and Alice, Bob, and I are through and through nerds.
#15203
The third sibling and oldest brother(We're calling him Charlie, of course)? He's normal, albeit dedicated, collage age student with mainstream interests. He likes following sports and biking, is a straight A's med student, parties like a fratboy, and is not traumatized. Despite our differences we all love each other though. We don't mention going back to BlackSheep anymore, and neither should you.
