Tropers/{{Excel-2010}}. Discontent with the staggering amount of FanDumb I view daily, I decided to get into the mind of such a fan. The best way to do this is to play the role of one on the internet. It's a very effective method to deconstruct the pathology of unreasonable fans that make legit fans look bad. The reactions and accusations from others are part of my research. However, as I started to notice recently, it's a lot more invigorating playing the role of a loudmouth twit who is myopic beyond help. I knew the risks going in, so I don't need to hear any of it. It's research/satire/a harmless prank.

This troper's ex-girlfriend was a slender woman who was not especially interested in gaining weight. When she dated this troper, she was a little confused by my usual preference for bigger girls and girls who stuffed themselves. But she was happy enough to "fake" a willingness to gain weight. Including occasionally ''actually'' stuffing herself. We broke up when her family moved away. When I ran into her again, she was at least a hundred pounds heavier. It seems that all that time we spent together, she'd been slowly getting to like the idea of giving up diets forever and so she stuffed herself often, even after we broke up.

This troper decided to pretend having the other gender in a random community for fun, became active, make several friends friends with someone of the opposite sex, by some miracle I could keep the mascarade using my own pictures and voice, now we talk almost everyday and my friend became more and more flirtly. When talking with her I talk to me in the opposite gender and yesterday I turned my head with someone called my fake name in the street. It's weird and It won't end well.

To this troper, cosplay is basically this, as far as confidence goes. Cosplaying a confident character means I have to take on that character's personality as well, and act confident even if I'm not. And with people treating me like I'm confident, I eventually become confident. This is how I fixed some of my worse self-appreciation issues a few years back.

Back when this male troper was a freshman, he had a crush on a girl one year older then him(to the date, we shared a birthday)back then i couldnt talk to a girl if my life depended on it. So my plan to get with her was to pay attention to what she was interetsed in, and pretend like i liked all those things as well, and just hope she would notice our "common" intrests. She seemed to have an afinaty for cult followed burton-esque media, so i started looking into them. Funny thing is the more i researched them, the more i discovered that i truley liked them as well, i got so into them that i became slighty emo-like for a period of my life. Now the mask i became seems to have loosend off my face a bit. i still like a lot of cult followed media, but im far from emo now(FYI: i never wound up dating the girl)

This troper, like one above her, is a cosplayer. She finds it ''increasingly'' hard to break character until she's out of her costume. No matter what that character may be. It's a lot WorseThanItSounds when something gets serious within her cosplay group.

Yeah cosplay groups can get pretty scary, when they get serious. I one time saw a guy roleplaying as Sepiroth beat the shit out of a girl roleplaying as Aerith. Normally, the guy is pretty nice but he suffered from this trope.

This troper's old RP character was a psychotic undead swordsman that spent most of his time provoking fights, mentally twisting people and generally destablising matters. As a result of that character my vocabulary roughly quadrupled and became adept at twisting people around. I shifted this persona but ironically recently took of swordsmanship, sharing a combat brute fighting style with said character.

This troper has a tendency to adopt various personalities or quirks for her own amusement; they eventually become habit, which is shortly followed by an issue remembering if there was a time without said personality or quirk. On a similar but mostly unrelated note, this troper has only ever cosplayed male characters; her subconscious mind now seems fairly convinced that she is, in fact, a boy.

This troper is a 15 year old kid who normally drops F-bombs and innuendo's like a motherfucker. Just two days ago ("Two days ago" when I wrote this was July 10, 2011), I got a job working with children from the age of 5-6 years old at a summer camp, and I'm already talking to my friends and mom like I'm slow in the head. Oh well, both my parents are teachers anyway so I guess the baby talk's okay as long as I'm in the house...
