Damn it. I've forgotten how to write. I mean, in the past when I got back to school after summer, I hadn't written for so long that I had to keep rubbing things out and writing them again until my handwriting improved from "completely illegible" to its normal "practically illegible". I've found now, though, that not only that but I keep missing out letters from the middle of words for no reason at all. When I woke up this morning I thought I had a Chemistry practical this afternoon, but then I realised on the way to CS that I hadn't. Unfortunately, this means that I'll be going in to the JHB again to do a CS practical that looks absolutely deadly (assembler, which I've never even seen before.) Let's have this meme, then, even though most likely no one will look at it. Surely they're more for timewasting rather than hoping anyone will even look at your incredibly-witty-at-the-time results... 1: Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4. Write down what it says: "But here again there are certain considerations to be borne in mind - some vessels, like the Queen Mary, are very big ships indeed, and although basic construction techniques are little different from a less ambitious subject, sheer size can prove a problem!" (To explain, it's from a book called "DIY Brain Surgery and Other Home Skills" - that section is instructions on how to build an ocean liner. It also has guides to home cloning, indoor ballooning and a kamikaze course... I can't remember where I got it from, but it's one of the best books I own.) 2: Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?: A packet of red seedless grapes. Grapes are one of the nicest natural foods - like little sweets, but less bad for you. 3: What is the last thing you watched on TV?: Black Books 4: WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what the time is: 12:45, lunchtime? 5: Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?: 12:39, queuetime. 6: With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?: Nightwish, through my excellent speakers. 7: When did you last step outside? what were you doing?: Coming back from class thirty-nine minutes ago. 8: Before you came to this website, what did you look at?: Um... the TDC. Yes. 9: What are you wearing?: The usual black trousers and Chinese T-shirt (that I carefully made sure said "Beijing" before wearing, and not anything obscene) 10: Did you dream last night? I'm afraid not. If it was it would probably have been a good weird one, but you'll have to miss out on that... 11: When did you last laugh? At one of Jon Lewis' jokes in the lecture. Or maybe I was just laughing at him. 12: What is on the walls of the room you are in?: Beige. A periodic table. Notes. Cutouts from newspapers. An envelope addressed to David X. Newton. A chart of my song downloads. A Year Planner that has two entries on it: Sep 28th: Get Year Planner Sep 29th: Stop bothering to fill in Year Planner 13: Seen anything weird lately?: The structure of Nylon-66. 14: What do you think of this quiz?: Stop fishing for compliments. 15: What is the last film you saw?: Mona Lisa Smile. (I didn't think much of it, to be honest, although it was nice that the character that was a complete bitch turned out to be all right in the end.) 16: If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?: Accommodation for a couple of weeks at Andrew Melville. 17: Tell me something about you that I don't know: I'm the first son of a seventh son of a seventh son. 18: If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?: I think what the world needs most is an infinite energy source, more than anything. (I've been thinking about this quite a lot). Other than that, on a more personal level I would ban smoking in public. 19: Do you like to dance?: Up, down, leftleftleft, jump, rotate, bounce. ^_^ 20: George Bush: That isn't a question. 21: Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?: David X. Kai Dirk Henjo Daniel Newton (no) 21: Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?: Deborah X. Henjo Daniel Kai Dirk Newton (again, no) 22: Would you ever consider living abroad?: Maybe in Germany, but I would have to learn German rather better first. 2004-04-12 12:27:00 1 comment |
