As a result of the e-mail to Kenny, I now have in my e-mail inbox a rather grovelly apology from Sam. Yes, _that_ Sam. I feel this is a great victory. <¦-)

I am sorry for not being available last night: I'm afraid that I can only
apologise and say that at the time when I should have been in the
foyer/warden's office I was wrestling with a recalcitrant washing machine
which was intent on causing a flood. As you may have noticed I also failed
to change the duty warden's name sign until later in the evening for the
same reason: apologies again.
