TechnoWizard

This troper is well known for fixing many technical difficulties by clicking around even if she doesn't know what's wrong. She also set up the stereo with no instructions, took apart a computer then put it back together and it still worked and somehow managed to cheat ITunes to making her own ringtones for free all by accident.

This troper's family assume he's a computer genius/1337 h@x0r because he spends a lot of his time online. Aside from browsing the internet and basic technical stuff, this troper knows next to nothing about computers.

Same with this troper. He ''does'' know some rather simple tricks for hiding files you don't want found (for obvious reasons), but other than that, he has no super-special technical know-how up his sleeve apart from general knowledge of hacker culture. He did, however, manage to learn his way through his workplace's cashier software and its limitations pretty thoroughly in next to no time at all.

This troper knows how this is. Because she spends a lot of time on her computer, and knows things such as how an USB cable looks like, her mom believes her to be some kind of computer genius.

This thirty-year-old troper, who's been messing around with computers since he was five years old, once took an online "Which Lord of the Rings character are you?" just for fun. The result turned out to be Gandalf. How appropriate, I thought: I constantly have my nose in a of arcane lore technical reference book that others would consider complete gobbledygook, much of my work involves typing [[strike:mysterious incantations complicated commands which will fail if you mistype a single [[strike:syllable letter, and can make lightning flow from my fingertips well, let's not take the analogy ''too'' far, shall we?

I'm a few years older than the guy above; my main thing is keeping old stuff running for a length of time past its normal pitch-out date, sometimes longer than its original service life. I'm often called upon for help when someone needs troubleshooting help with something that's quite old. Whenever I get the balky item working again, I'm often accused of this trope.

This Troper can easily and deeply wow onlookers through using a hex editor... to do what, to those that realize what's going on, is essentially an incredibly small change (literally, one number into another). Changing an RGB color code in an EXE file sure looks impressive, but is actually incredibly easy to do. Really, it's just changing bases and using a different sort of "Find" command. But they'll swear I'm a coding God.

So can this troper, as he uses Linux as his main operating system. Sometimes he even puts on a Mac OS-like theme just for the MindScrew fun. (but you computer is not Apple! How are you using OS X?).

This Troper fit the TechnoWizard trope when it came to any kind of computer or electronic device. He could fix, program, set up, and communicate with virtually anything even without having to consult a manual or a knowledge base. However that has later been subverted, as computers and electronics that are not owned by this Troper seem to hate him, and refuse to cooperate most of the time.

Quite a few examples here. This troper's dad has been working with computers for ~40 years and can fix quite a lot of things, to the point where he can critique the IT department he works for (to be fair, there are quite a few idiots of legend there) and this troper's cousin also fits. People who are not very tech-savvy seem to think of this troper as a tech wizard even though she isn't, and she has a friend who ''thinks'' he's a TechnoWizard but instead keeps crashing people's computers by installing needless crap on them.

For some weird reason (maybe the Almighty likes to get His holy giggles through me?) everyone seems to think that I'm a sort of incredibly capable and dangerous techpriest that spends his free time cyber-stealing businesses' confidentials, beats any game on the market with astonishing ease -even with a bored face, some say- and has memorized the entire Wikipedia just for fun. So much that this, together with my love for anime and PC games, are considered my defining traits, to the point that everyone thinks I have no other topics of conversation, ergo, no social life. The sad truth? I suck in console games and do just OK in online [=FPSs=], and can't even crack a simple WEP key for my life. And also, I like music and a good read, thank you very much. The fact that I work as an IT grunt doesn't help the situation. Well, at least I know how to do my job properly.

This Troper definitely fits this trope; I actually have a Tech Specialist job because of it. I might even be a {{Walking Techfix}} for how many times I've ''accidentally fixed'' problems my coworkers have before I even knew what it was. Though, I haven't run into a problem fixing user errors as the Walking Techfix page says, because the problem stays away after I leave. And of course I know how to effectively administer {{Percussive Maintenance}}.

This troper learned how to read on a Commodore 64. He develops software for a living.
