I as a child eventually got so sick of good guys in cartoons that I started hoping the bad guys would kill the good guys just so it would end. I of course knew this was never going to happen and that just made it all the more frustrating. Luckily for me better cartoons started being made a few years later and this troper is now 14 and quite the cartoon network fan and is also a fan of 90's nicktoons.

As a kid I would root for Skeletor or just about any cartoon villain in the 80's since the villains during that time were always made to look weak to the point that I felt sorry for them while the heroes do act like a bunch of jerks, sometimes even more than the villain. The only exception I made is Optimus Prime although I did applaud Megatron for being one of the few 80's cartoon heroes that managed to kill their archenemy but also applaud Optimus for not going down like a punk. %% %% Remember, you are not to use "This Troper". I didn't care too much for Avatar, but I was definitely on the humans' side... I hoped against hope that Quaritch would kill Jake or Neytiri just to shake up the predictable ending.

It helped that the human side was more likeable than the holier than thou Nav'i.

Yes, how dare the Navi try to oppose a group of planet looters who wrecked their own planet and now somehow seems to think that means they should be allowed to destroy other peoples lives now. I agree that the ending kinda sucked, and the portrayal of both sides was pretty thin, but I'm sick of all the people who insist that the Navi were wrong for not rolling over. Its THEIR damn planet!!

I absolutely adored ''Avatar'' just for the sheer fun of it, and while I would never condone the RDA's methods (their motivation of trying to repair Earth with what they found on Pandora was understandable, but seriously, couldn't they have tried harder to make sure that nobody got hurt?), I got a bit fed up with the holier-than-thou attitude of the Na'vi, and most definitely did not appreciate the idea that being born human somehow makes me (not me ''personally'', but it still hurts) inherently inferior to them.

I sometimes count, depending on the series. ''Literature/{{Twilight}}'' definitely, simply because the writing is so Arceusdamned awful(I wanted Tyler's van to crash into Bella, for starters). GeneratorRex is a bit complicated, because while I like Rex, Agent Six, and Dr. Holiday; I also love watching The Pack in action, and celebrated when Van Kleiss and Breach turned out to be NotQuiteDead in the episode "What Lies Beneath". Oh, and I HATE White Knight, so I often end up rooting for the villains. {{Pokemon}} is a bit complicated, I really don't like the anime for many various reasons, and for a little while I only watched it because I was rooting for Pokemon Hunter J. On the other hand, I'm a huge fan of the games, and always root for the good guys (or at least the player character). Still, I can't help but sympathize with N from PokemonBlackAndWhite.

This troper finds himself more and more rooting for every anime and video game villain that doesn't degrade to being petty evil or rapist. I've simply taken a complete dislike of heroes, their PowerOfFriendship and Love, their BlackAndWhiteMorality and IfYouKillHimYouWillBeJustLikeHim philosophies. Personally, I find heroes' KirkSummations VERY childish and immature, while the villains' Hannibal Lectures are, at least, more rational than goody-two-shoes talks. And ShutUpHannibal situations are usually only proof that the hero can't beat the villain's logic and prefer to stick to what they know, like Aizen Hannibal-lecturing Yamamoto and the old idiot just saying he won't go into arguments with Aizen, someone who is CLEARLY more intelligent than him. And don't get me started on Naruto's poor excuse of a BattleAtTheCenterOfTheMind. Different from most people, however, I don't go DracoInLeatherPants; I know the guys I root for are usually monsters and crazy. I just don't care!

I know that it's very wrong that The Doctor is my favourite character in ''CaveStory'', but dammit, he's awesome and I want a Demon Crown.

Also, I want Kyubey to win. I'm not kidding. He's the cutest thing ever, and he's just trying to save the universe from destruction! How can I be the only one who loves the little guy? The weird part is that I can't see the Anti-Spiral as anything other than a CompleteMonster, despite the fact they have basically ''the same philosophy''. It's probably because Kyubey didn't rape anyone and isn't a racist, which is more than can be said for the Anti-Spiral...but then ''why does everyone hate Kyubey when there are people who like the Anti-Spiral?''

Also, when learning about TheVietnamWar in school, I noticed that, after hearing detailed descriptions of their tactics, I was rooting for the Viet Cong. DirtyCommunists or not, those guys were ''geniuses.''

This troper got so damn sick of AmericaSavesTheDay and Type 1 {{Eagleland}} with BlackAndWhiteMorality that he decided to write a story with the antagonists being America. Not a corrupt America, not a communist America, not a fascist America, not even a DividedStatesOfAmerica–just a normal, modern-ish America. Of course, the protagonists ended up being NotSoDifferent and the whole thing sort of spiraled out of control and spawned a 200-odd-pages-long bunch of short stories...

Just make us well-developed villians. I do not want to read a book where we're evil "just for the lulz." I want to read it and empathize with your not-American protagonist and understand why he must defeat us.

I don't know if I'm alone on this or not, but I got this way with AvatarTheLastAirbender. By season three, I kind of started to think that they were putting off building up the fight with Ozai because Azula was just that much more interesting. Emotional investment in the duel between Zuko and Azula was that much higher compared to the concurrent fight with Ozai, which turned out exceedingly boring and lame by comparison. Overall, I watched the whole show mostly for Zuko and Azula. Appropriately, Zuko and Iroh were the best part of the 2010 movie as well.

I rooted for Phyrexia during the ''Mirrodin Besieged'' prerelease. When the news came out that "Action" had officially been announced as ''New Phyrexia'', I felt a little vindicated inside. When this troper's English Literature class read NorthangerAbbey it turned out that a good number of students ended up taking the side of John and Isabella Thorpe, possibly because it was made so clear so often that the reader was supposed to dislike them with no saving graces.

When this troper watched OnceUponATimeLife, he rooted for the viruses and bacteria, because only if they successfully caused an infection, he would be able to see how it progressed and what it caused. Also, in the episode about leukemia he rooted for the mutated lymphocytes for the way they were portrayed (rogue, tough punk-like characters who ran around doing whatever they wanted and saying that they had no rules).

I'm so sick of hearing about the London Blitz from the perspective of Great Britain that I want to write a story through a perspective of a pro-Nazi German fighter who bombs London during the blitz. When his plane is shot down, he retreats to a nearby castle ruin where he kidnaps a British woman and attempts to brainwash her into believing in German superiority. Of course, they eventually find themselves on the run from British authorities.
