I have been reading a local movie magazine since I was 12, and was heartbroken when it folded. However, the team started another magazine, and I wrote in a letter attaching my portfolio. Thanks mostly to how nice the editor was, I'm now writing for them, and have attended four advance press preview movie screenings in the past week - for free! Very gratifying - Monday morning I have been invited to a VIP Oscar screening party, and I'm barely old enough to even drink champagne at that champagne brunch.

A potential example: this troper is a bit of a fan of Metallica and Megadeth (and a bit of Slayer) and is considering writing a song to the tune of Mechanix, with The Four Horsemen's bridge and with lyrics that wouldn't be out of place in a Slayer song...which he plans to perform even faster than Mechanix (for the curious, it is played at roughly 240 bpm. I plan to have it performed at 300bpm). Hopefully, it will be performed live by Slayer in a few years...
