This troper's literature teacher is like this. He's a very mild and easy going guy, but his default facial expression is >:( The thing is, that he doesn't even realize he's doing this.

This troper is seen as this as whenever I smile its a slasher smile at best. Its actually more comfortable to hang around me when I'm down than when I'm happy. I think I frighten the children.

I tried smiling for a whole job interview once and ended up with facial cramps. I learned long ago not to smile since I have a mouth like a rusted bear trap.

A math teacher in my school is this. He says it's because of an accident that happened. He used to be a clown, so one of my friends theorized that someone randomly punched him in the face during that time. What really happened involved a football to the face, OrSoIHeard from multiple people. I was also indirectly called one by a social studies teacher I had, and my rebuttal landed me in the principal's office.

I don't smile like the status quo of America expects one to do every damn minute of every damn day; that's just creepy and impractical (and I don't understand why people automatically assume that if you're not grinning, your sad, but if you're grinning at nothing, then you're crazy). So I normally wear a face of indifference, except... some people who have the courage to approach me and actually have something meaningful to say and I mutually return the conversation (they aren't just some dumbass guy who wants to pick me up) sometimes slip in that I have this facade of seriousness on me, that I look like I'm scowling and that I'm giving people the DeathGlare. Honestly, most of the time I'm not even aware of this face that I'm making. But... I suppose I do frown a lot. But the sun is in my eyes a lot! That, and I have a lot to frown about lately.
