ItemGet

This Troper did the ItemGet dance from Zelda upon receiving his high school diploma. The audience was highly amused.

I highly recommend doing this when you get a sought-after item. For instance, today my new iPod arrived through the mail. My old iPod broke months ago, and I was literally going through some nasty withdrawal because I hadn't been able to listen to music for more than a few minutes a day. So the package arrives, I open it, take my new iPod, hold it over my head, and yell, "dah dah da-DAAAAAAH!" for all to hear. It's fun!

I would, but I don't, for the sake of saving face. Instead it plays in my head! Which leads to questions as to why I stare at everything I unwrap for my birthday for ten or so seconds.

I do this not with physical ''items',, but with knowledge. For example, whenever I learn a new recipe, I spin around and shove my hand out in a peace sign, like Mario.

This troper usually does it after getting just about anything awesome in the mail, typically a game or an anime DVD set. He may even open a YouTube video with the actual music and go along with it from there.

My friends and I occasionally do this with the most random objects, like a pencil, candy, and paychecks(we work together).

In this troper's house, the common practice for getting rid of old stuff that isn't broken is to toss it downstairs and take care of it "later". Over the years, this has led to a rather large amount of useful stuff being chucked downstairs not . So far as I know, I am the only one who goes through the stuff downstairs. Especially when the find in question is a piece of computer hardware/software that would otherwise just gather dust for another decade or two, the urge to proclaim "SWAG!" is somewhat irresistible.

I've done the Zelda tune on Christmas Day upon opening up an Onyx Edition of Scrabble in the morning. Because I'm just that much of a nerd, I suppose, I also do it with food that I know will be delicious.

On my college graduation cap, I actually drew a cartoon version of myself in the Item Get pose with a diploma up in the air with the caption Diploma Get! below it. I actually started to do the pose also upon getting my diploma when my name was called, however I ended up knocking off my own cap just as I was about to do so. In a interesting inversion, my siblings were horrified while my parents were cracking up at this.

Next time I get a game, I plan on pulling off the LegendOfZelda Item Get pose complete with tune.
