Last year, a friend anonymously did something unpleasant to this troper. She later found out who the guilty party was, even though the friend in question never confessed. Recently, the friend found out that the troper knows. Another friend then told the troper that the friend knows that the troper knows. So...yes...I now know that you know that I know.

Once you get past the physical aspect of Fencing it's all mind games. There is in fact an entire tactical wheel of what to do if your opponent does this and then responds in this manner. The result? Winning an olympic fencing bout with the simplest defensive move there is... as presumably they had already gone around the tactical wheel and no one scored since they knew that the other knew that the other...

This Troper and her friend do this all the time, and I think it is absolutely adorable! One or both of us ends up being confused by it. It happened by accident one time, and then we expect it every time one of us says "i know"

This troper and her sister play a game where the first person says "I know," then the next person "I know that you know," then the first person again "I know that you know that I know," and so on. The first person to mess up loses. Needless to say, playing it in public gets us weird looks.

Have you ever tried written roleplay? This lives off of this. Lets say you leave off with this character about to die, and you want this character to die. It's quite likely they'll try to save this character, so you have to foil that.
