This troper's an aversion: I like football, basketball, and soccer for the tactical element.

This troper sort of plays it straight. His favorite sport is baseball, and by god he loves baseball. He even loves studying the mechanics of how pitches are thrown, how a bat is swung, etc. But, statistics and facts aren't the only thing he enjoys. He likes them, no doubt, but he loves the competition and the strategy. Most of all, he loves what the game represents. This troper also enjoys watching other sports too, from hockey, to boxing, to gymnastics.

This troper enjoys watching other sports, but baseball is the only one that really ''matters.''

This troper is a subversion. He considers himself a nerd and he does love baseball, but he can't quote statistics or remember starting lineups like the hypothetical nerd on the trope page. He mostly loves to watch the game and cheer for his favorite team, like the typical sports fan. (He'd tell you who his favorite team is, but one look at his troper page should make it easy to guess.)

This Troper is a subversion in the sense that I like most sports, but mostly only for the statistics / odd facts (except (American) Football, I'm a Dolphins fan and follow it quite closely).

This troper plays it completely straight: I dislike most other sports, but I LOVE baseball for some reason. I like the statistics, admittedly, and I record my brothers' local leagues games, and calculate averages at the end of the season as a hobby.
