Throughout {{This Troper}}'s high school years, one African-American student in particular was noted for having a large, well-kept afro. The afro itself became such an integral part of his appearance, he given the affectionate nickname of "Bush".

ThisTroper had a friend who gained the nickname "Fro" because of his huge white-boy afro (a look that only works on Caucasians if they're blond, which this boy was). We only reluctantly had to start calling him by name (usually ''last'' name) in senior year, when he ditched the afro in favor of a pony-tail--which looked kind of strange, as his hair was still rather curly.

A good friend of this troper something of a natural afro (that he can't get rid of, no matter how hard he tries, short of shaving his head) that everyone constantly comments on, occasionally referring to his afro instead of him. His nickname is Jewfro. He assures everyone that he is not, in fact, Jewish. It doesn't help that his hair has a smidge of red to it and his name is Kyle.

This troper's daddy has a 'fro in his ''wedding picture''. Despite being the source of many giggles, he actually looked very handsome with it. What the heck happened to said handsomeness, she'll never know.

The only reason why this troper doesn't have a 'fro is because I was bribed out of it for an Xbox 360, so it was a nice trade. Let's just say that people were a bit shocked when they found out I cut it.

This troper has naturally curly hair which does its best impression of a lion's mane when worn unbound. She caught no end of grief for it in school.

This Troper has the same problem. One time, when I was cycling to school, a little kid said to his mom: "Look Mom, she got an afro!" Hilarity ensued.

This Troper knows several people with afros. Apparently, afros are public domain in the same way an obviously pregnant belly is. One kid finally shaved his fro because people wouldn't stop petting it.

In one of this troper's Speech and Debate competitions, a kid from another school asked all the other competitors in the room to join his Facebook group, "My Jewfro can get more fans than the Jonas Brothers."

At my high school, there is only one kid with an afro. He's had it for several years now, and the one time he shaved it, nobody recognized him In fact, all most people know about him is he has an afro and everyone calls him Jewfro. Many don't even know his name.
