Most of my class was one, which made it very difficult to learn. The main one was a JerkJock who did it to impress TheLibby and her GirlPosse and it was really annoying after a while.

For this troper's close friend, the StepfordSmiler or SadClown subversion is completely true. In high school, my friend was voted ClassClown, Best Storyteller, and Best Sense of Humor. She usually seems like an enthusiastic GenkiGirl, but the perkiness is often an act. She's been diagnosed with depression, and she's actually one of the more serious and thoughtful people I know. She just doesn't reveal personal things about herself very easily.
