At my high school formal, through sheer quirk of the suit rental, I was the ''only'' one wearing a bow tie. I got quite a few compliments on it.

About a year or so ago, this twentysomething troper thought it'd be cool to have at least one bowtie. I watched a few videos on [=YouTube=] to learn how to properly tie one, and I went to a local thrift store and found a nice red one. I later wore it with a blue shirt and sleeveless sweater to a substitute teaching job. Compliments abounded.

I am this trope. I was in a play this year. I was initially playing as a character who wore a suit and tie. When offered a different part which wore a bowtie, I leapt on it. Also, I used to work at a movie theatre. All staff members had to wear bowties. I was literally the only worker excited about it.

This troper had a high school Chemistry teacher who wore bowties everyday. At the end of the school year, he brought in a bunch of extras and had the whole class wear one to take a class photo (the first and only time this troper has ever worn one.)

It was my friend's eighteenth birthday and, as we were told to dress smartish, I wore a shirt, a tie (specifically, a Wallice and Grommit tie), jeans, trainers and a black coat. My friend's 20 year old sister admitted that she was an old fashioned girl and was into men with ties. Apart from my friend, I was the only guy wearing a tie. Cue minor {{Squick}} when I was informed of her age (I thought she was about 18) and, near the end of the disco, when she said, "I love you." I'm aware there are larger age gaps (I've read on this wiki of age gaps 10 years and beyond), but, when you are 17, having a 20 year old hit on you is hardly a comfortable thing, especially when you are in love with another girl who is at the party.

This troper's entire middle school upper band wore black bowties and cummerbunds for performances. Also, at concerts in high school, her band director wears a bowtie and looks almost exactly like a penguin in his suit. This Troper's elementary part of his school has "Bowtie Fridays," where instead of the teachers wearing regular ties, they wear bowties.

Taking inspiration from this trope and The Doctor, this troper attempted to get a whole mess of people to wear bowties to our high school graduation. About a handful of people did, so it was a moderate success.
