This Troper would like to disagree with the individual who claimed at the top of the main page that "mice and rats have no particular affinity for cheese". This Troper has four rats and they absolutely ADORE cheese, any cheese this troper or her family members might offer them. Incidentally, feeding plain peanut butter to mice and rats is not recommended, as it is thick and sticky enough to partially glue their jaws together if you don't mix it with a bit of something like jelly first.

This Troper has found that cats seem to like cheese more than most rodents, as her cats will attempt to climb up her legs to get a piece of cheese.

This Troper lived with two cats who love(d) smoked Swiss cheese. One (now deceased) was very old and afflicted with muscle and joint problems -- but he made his way from the little area where his food and piddle pads were set up toward the kitchen when he smelled the stuff, until This Troper's wife heard the stagger-stagger-thud in the hallway, picked him up, and gave him some. The other (still around, ever more elderly and crotchety) is very quiet, but yammers incessantly when she sees a chance to beg for the stuff. Behold the Power of Cheese... it makes the lame to walk and the dumb to speak!

You mean "plain peanut butter" as in Jif and the like? This troper uses a different brand, it's only ingredients are salt and peanuts and it's runnier than most of what is conventionally thought of as "peanut butter". Try that, it's probably better for them anyway.

Averted. This troper hates cheese, but mostly the yellow stuff(yes I know, it's food coloring), or cheese that's usually yellow. But she's ok with white cheese(swiss, provolone, etc.), at least on sandwiches. Whether this is the cause of her revulsion of a particular shade of the color yellow, or the other way around, she does not know.

I agree. The only cheese that doesn't make me retch is mozzarella.

The name of the Chaplin of this troper's school is - wait for it - "Cheeseman". And this troper will glady confess she wrote down "Blessed Are The Cheesemakers" by accdient in her exam notes.

There is, at the moment, a ''cheese war'' going on between me and my mother. The only cheese she likes (Edam) also happens to be one of the few I absolutely refuse to eat. Shopping for groceries becomes tiring at times.

Metropolitan Market in Seattle is noticeably pricier than the Safeway and definitely more so than the Grocery Outlet. However, it is insanely crowded during the weekends, even in the midst of a recession. Much of this stems from their staggeringly large cheese counter with roughly forty varieties available at any given time, specialty cheeses available only at certain times of the year, and it's the only other place in town (other than Pike Place Market) where you can get a Beecher's Grilled Cheese sandwich. Troper's favorite lunch is their cioppino, a hard roll, and something from their "small cheese" section (leftover cuts from larger wheels) section washed down with a Northwest microbrew.

This Troper's parents affectionately call her "Mouse" due to her love of cheese.
